The Thomson Road Grand Prix circuit had many challenging features, including the treacherous "Circus Hairpin" bends and the "Snakes" section. In particular, the "Murder Mile" feature of this track derived its name from the fact that many racing accidents occurred along this stretch. Similarly, "Devil's Bend" got its name because it was the most dangerous part of the circuit. The Woronora Bridge was built to eliminate the steep grades and hairpin bends on the previous route between the southern Sydney suburbs of Sutherland and Bangor. It was completed in 2001 and replaced the two-lane low level Woronora Bridge which opened in 1981, which in turn had replaced a 1912 single-lane timber bridge. Kolli Hills or Kolli Malai is a small mountain range located in Western Tamil Nadu and spread over the Namakkal district of India. The mountains rise to 1300m in height and cover an area of approximately 280 km2. They are part of the Eastern Ghats, which is a mountain range that runs mostly parallel to the east coast of South India. The mountain is a site of pilgrimage, because of the Arapaleeswarar temple, but the area is also popular with Motor cycle enthusiasts because of the high altitude motor-able terrain with 70 hairpin bends.

The A39 coast road looking towards Porlock Porlock Hill is a section of the A39 west of the village of Porlock. The road climbs approximately in less than up onto Exmoor: a very steep hill with gradients of up to 1 in 4 and hairpin bends. In Porlock itself you will often smell burning brakes from vehicles who have just descended the hill. On 12 January 1899, the ten-ton Lynmouth lifeboat was launched during a storm, but the storm's ferocity meant it could not put out to sea.

Ou Kaapse Weg begins at a T-junction with Steenberg Road in Westlake, close to the southern end of the M3 expressway. It rapidly ascends the northern face of the Steenberg mountains, through two hairpin bends, to the summit at an elevation of . Near to the summit are entrance gates to the Silvermine Nature Reserve. The pass then descends along the valley of the Silvermine River, passing by Noordhoek to end at a junction with Kommetjie Road, which provides access to Kommetjie, Fish Hoek and other places in the Fish Hoek Valley.

Kohat Tunnel Construction on the tunnel began in 1999, and opened to traffic in June 2003. As part of the developing Indus Highway system, the tunnel serves as a shorter, alternate route to the Kohat Pass, situated between the cities of Peshawar and Kohat. The new route decreases the time required to travel through the Kotal Pass by about 20 minutes. The main advantage of the tunnel is that long bodied vehicles can now use the Indus Highway whereas previously the hairpin bends on the Kotal Pass made it impossible for such vehicles to travel.

A speed limit was imposed to minimise damage to the main road. This was covered with of dust that turned to mud when it rained. The surface soon broke up under heavy military traffic. Logo of Tour de Singkarak (2009—2018) Tour de Singkarak (abbreviated TdS) is an annual professional road bicycle racing stage race held in West Sumatra, Indonesia, and named after the Lake Singkarak. First staged in 2009, Tour de Singkarak is classified by the Union Cycling International (UCI) as a 2.2 category race as part of the UCI Asia Tour. It covers more than 1267 kilometres — from/to Padang passing around lake Singkarak and runs through inland West Sumatran cities — and lasted for a week and held annually. This exciting tour across the picturesque West Sumatra countryside`s scenic landscapes, comprising beaches, blue lakes, and numerous hairpin bends, as they climb up to the foot of the volcanoes.

Although the castle is in ruins, most of the walls are still standing and some rooms are still well preserved (especially the fortified chapel in the Lower Castle). For the brave and the hikers, a long hiking trail leaves the village of Duilhac (take the castle route for a few hundred metres before taking a small path to the right which has hairpin bends). It is a variant of the Cathar trail. During storms or high winds, the climb is strongly discouraged and often prohibited to protect the visitors from lightning and dangerous falls in the St. Louis staircase, which connects the former castle to the dungeon, already highly slippery in good weather.

This was bypassed by a new stretch of road in the early 1970s but the old hairpin bends and World War II anti-tank traps can be accessed on foot from a layby part way up the hill. Over the summit of the Cairnwell Pass the road enters Aberdeenshire and the standard of the carriageway improves considerably, wider and better surfaced than the 42 miles in Perthshire. Descending now, it runs along deserted Glen Clunie alongside the Clunie Water for 8 miles to Braemar, a pretty village 1110 feet above sea level at the west end of Royal Deeside. So far the road has been running roughly north but here it turns east for the 60-mile descent to the North Sea at Aberdeen.

The hotelier, Rudolf Sendig, had this electrically driven lift built in 1904 by the firms of Kelle & Hildebrandt (iron framework) and Kühnscherf & Söhne (lift). The lift was officially opened on Easter Sunday 1905 and the rivetted structure, that has been protected since 1954, was refurbished in 1989-1990. Due to its view over Saxon Switzerland around Bad Schandau, especially the rocks of the Schrammsteine, but also because of the understated art nouveau ornamentation a journey on the technical monument has become something of a tourist attraction. The so-called Ostrauer Scheibe is a plateau that can be reached on foot along a hiking trail from the Botanical Garden in the Kirnitsch Valley, over the old cart track (Ostrauer Berg), as well as by car along a road that weaves in hairpin bends up from Postelwitz.

Cannoli siciliani, a specialty of the event. The race is disputed as tradition, on the hairpin bends of Mount Arcibessi. In recent years the path on Hyblaean Mountains has been slightly lengthened, this extension made the race recognized as a valid race for the Trofeo italiano velocità montagna-sud, Sicilian hill speed championship and Sicilian hill speed championship for historic cars.also allowing a better and easier use, to those who can arrive from Ragusa, from Modica, from Vittoria from the nearby mountain Municipalities such as Monterosso Almo and Giarratana, but also from other Hyblean areas, in addition to allowing a greater tourist flow. In Piazza Duomo, to Chiaramonte Gulfi, it is possible to taste typical Sicilian dishes by the local associations that adhere to the initiative (Association Contrada Muti, Association Contrada Piano dell’Acqua and Youth Association of Roccazzo).

The Nook (Middle English: a corner or recess) is situated on the primary A18 Mountain Road in the parish of Onchan in the Isle of Man between the 37th Milestone road-side marker on the Snaefell Mountain Course and the TT Grandstand on the primary A2 Glencrutchery Road in the town of Douglas. The Nook along with the nearby Governor's Bridge road junction and hairpin bends is part of the Snaefell Mountain Course used since 1920 for the Isle of Man TT and from 1923 for the Manx Grand Prix Races. The Nook was part of the Clypse Course for the Isle of Man TT races between 1954 and 1959. It is also part of the Willaston Circuit used for cycle racing, classic car racing and used as part of timed special stage for the Rally Isle of Man.

The hairpins were constructed so that the mules could park their double-ended carts and run-around to pull the cart in the opposite direction up the next stretch, thus avoiding the need to turn around the hairpin bends, which often caused carts to topple over and spill their contents. The Caserne Pellegrin and the Fort Moyen are also linked by an enormous staircase with over 1000 steps which was constructed in the rock, with windows opening onto the “French” side of the fort and batteries (notably the B-douze — B12) facing the passes. The windows provided light and air and were also used for the removal of spoil from the tunnels. Finally there is a cableway that allowed stores to be carried to the Fort Moyen which was installed after the fort was electrified in 1908.

The road drops down steeply (13% over 1,3 km) to bridge a river, before rising again (13% over 1,3 km), with a number of sharp bends in the road – although some of the hairpin bends and other nearby gradients have been eased in recent years. The impracticality (and cost) of bridging the Berriedale Braes prevented the building of the Inverness-Wick Far North Line along the east coast of Caithness; instead the railway runs inland through the Flow Country. Berriedale is located at the end of the eighth stage of the coastal John o' Groats Trail. Berriedale is listed as the place of death on the death certificate of Prince George, Duke of Kent, younger brother of King George VI. He was killed in a fatal air crash nearby on 25 August 1942, alongside 14 others.

The bypass project had been planned many years earlier (mid 1990s) During the years of planning a misunderstanding by residential developers led to new roads and housing being constructed on Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) land at the end of Anzac Road in Bangor. This caused the proposed position of the bypass to shift slightly north Preparations for the Bangor Bypass included changing traffic flow between Bangor, Woronora and Sutherland. This was largely due to a stretch of road known as the "Woronora bends", a collection of steep hairpin bends along Menai Rd. In June 1990, a changeover from the bends shifted traffic from Menai Rd onto a small stretch of Akuna Avenue and a new road called River Road. In 2001, traffic was shifted onto an extended River Road via the new Woronora River Bridge, replacing Menai Road via the older Woronora Bridge.
