Their good friend Dan Shannon played drums in this new band. The future Dogmatics would play their first and last show under the name "Guttersnipes" at their Thayer St. loft. Not happy with the "Guttersnipes" name, Pete thought that "Dogmatics" was more appropriate. The Dogmatics played their first show at Cantones in 1981.

In the early 1990s Throwaways, together with label mates, Spiderbait and Guttersnipes, organised and performed at the Tell 'em It's Healthy series of concerts. Throwaways were regular fixtures on Melbourne's inner city alternative music scene, playing at venues such as The Tote, The Punters Club, The Great Britain Hotel and the Richmond Club. During Easter 1991 the group performed at The Tote, sharing the stage with Hoss, The Meanies, Guttersnipes, Spiderbait, Nursery Crimes and Unclean Spirits. A live album, Wally's Wild Weekend, was issued in January 1992 with two tracks by each artist.

At University College, Dorey met fellow resident David Kendal, and in 1988 Sean Baxter. A fellow resident of the college was Mark Maher ("Kram"), later of Spiderbait, with whom Throwaways, Guttersnipes and the Meanies would release the "Teeth" compilation.

Guttersnipes (Swedish: Rännstensungar) is a 1944 Swedish drama film directed by Ragnar Frisk and starring Adolf Jahr, Britta Brunius and Lillie Wästfeldt.Historical Dictionary of Scandinavian Cinema p.102 The film's sets were designed by the art director Bertil Duroj. It was partly shot on location in Malmö.

According to reviewer Silviu Bardeș, Crevedia's ten sketches in Bacalaureatul lui Puiu had "lively dialogue" and "verve", but alternated between the "remarkable" and the "salacious". Eventually Mark Hurst (ex- Guttersnipes) was recruited as permanent drummer and Tas Blizzard (Seaweed Gorillas. The Meanies) became the band's first genuine bass player. The addition of these two seasoned musicians solidified the band into a genuine and powerful live band for the first time. This line up recorded the bulk of the Prosody album in fits and spurts through 1997 and 1998 at Birdland studios.

He released the CD Guttersnipes and Zealots in 1991, which included vocals from Southern California rockers Dave Alvin and Mojo Nixon, it featured the songs, "Duke of J Street," "Someone You Knew," and "Gun Sale at the Church." The albums Dive Bar Casanovas, Greasy Jazz, Dipsomania, Pretend It's Okay (which included a guest spot from Chris Gaffney), and Sordid Lives followed. All were recorded by either Buddy Blue or the Buddy Blue Band. Throughout his musical career, Seigal performed jump blues, a form of jazzy blues focused on uptempo rhythms and loud, boisterous vocals.

Orson and Olivia is an Italian-French animated comedy-drama television series produced by Ellipse Entertainment and Collingwood O'Hare and aired on TF1. It features the trials of two orphans living in London under Queen Victoria's reign. It is based on the French comics series Basil et Victoria by Edith and Yann, which got a complete English-language book edition in 2014 under the title "Basil & Victoria: London Guttersnipes". The series also aired in several countries around the world such as TVP3 in Poland, Sky One in the UK, ABC in Australia, MetroVision and TV3 in Malaysia, Channel 5 in Singapore, TVI in Portugal, SABC2 in South Africa, Showcase in Canada, RTÉ Two in Ireland, and Minimax in Hungary.

By the early 1990s, the success of grunge music, American punk veterans and revivalists, as well as local bands like the Hybernators, the Speed Demons, the Meanies, Frenzal Rhomb, and Screamfeeder led to the formation of punk-influenced bands such as the Living End, Jebediah, Bodyjar, 28 Days, Dreamkillers, Four Zero One Four, Align, and Guttersnipes. Punk revival scenes began in various cities around Australia. In one of these cities (Melbourne) punk has seen a resurgence in recent years. Along with straight up punk bands like Dixon Cider, Scrayfish, the Half Pints, Let's Jump Ship and the Flying Rats forming, there have also been the emergence of folk punk bands like Gentleman's Riot, Mutiny and Catgut Mary and skate punk bands such as Bombs Are Falling and Postscript .
