This group of cats is not considered to be a true Clan because they do not believe in the warriors' spiritual ancestors, StarClan, or the warrior code, a set of rules followed by all Clan cats. Moonrise follows six cats, Brambleclaw, Squirrelpaw, Crowpaw, Feathertail, Stormfur, and Tawnypelt, as they return to their forest home from a journey to the ocean. They travel through the mountains, where they meet the Tribe of Rushing Water, a new group of cats first introduced in this novel.

On the return journey, the Clan cats decide, after consultation with Midnight, to go through a mountain range which they had avoided in their initial travels. There, they meet a Clan-like group of cats called the Tribe of Rushing Water, who have their own set of ancestors: the Tribe of Endless Hunting. The Tribe takes the traveling cats in and gives them food and shelter. The Clan cats discover that the Tribe cats have a prophecy: a silver cat will save them from Sharptooth, a cougar that has been killing many members of the Tribe.

The Sokoke does best in a controlled environment, because of their limited resistance to common New World cat illnesses, often found in catteries and multi-cat homes. However, contrary to previous reports, they can be acclimated to colder climates, and do not require special housing any more than similar short- haired, Asian-group cats.

Despite her many arguments and aggressive pride, however, she usually ends up agreeing with the correct choice in a given situation. Mousefur's age causes her to join the elders in Starlight in The New Prophecy series, where she currently remains. Since then she has fallen ill a number of times, more recently catching greencough and causing Jaypaw to experience his first medical epidemic as a medicine cat in The Sight.

However, the rest of the Clan does not know this, so Ashfoot, the WindClan deputy, reveals to Brambleclaw that she saw Sol near where Ashfur's body was found. Upon hearing this, Firestar sent a patrol consisting of Brambleclaw, Brackenfur, Birchfall, Hazeltail, Lionblaze, and Hollyleaf. They search a large Twolegplace near the sun-drown-place and find a group of cats that Sol convinced to fight a pack of wild dogs that were threatening their home.

Traditional Persian is one of several names for a group of cats that are considered to be essentially the original breed of Persian cat, before the variety was selectively bred to have extreme features. The patrol discovers a group of cats under the leadership of a cat named Darktail living in SkyClan's gorge camp, who have driven SkyClan away.

In an authortracker e-mail Victoria Holmes says that one of the main themes of Firestar's Quest is that "two cats are genuinely torn following the warrior code and doing what they believe is right for themselves". In the book, Firestar is asked to find and rebuild SkyClan which described as Holmes "will take him a long way outside the warrior code and all that he believes in". A review commented that "themes of faith and responsibility give it depth" and also added that "It's quite satisfying watching Firestar and Graystripe assemble a ragtag group of cats into a true clan" and compared to movies such as The Bad News Bears to Major League.

The Sun Trail begins with a group of cats known as the Tribe of Rushing Water, led by Stoneteller, starving due to lack of food in their mountain home. Stoneteller receives a vision in which she is told that there is more prey if one follows the rising Sun. When one of the Tribe's kits dies of hunger, a group of Tribe cats decides to follow the "Sun trail" as described to Stoneteller in her vision, in search of a solution to their situation. However, a kit named Jagged Peak sneaks out of the Tribe's cave to catch up to his older brother, Clear Sky, who is in the group of Tribe cats who have left.

Sylvester is once again attempting to catch and eat Tweety, this time very nearly succeeding, only to be stopped by an erudite, mild-mannered cat (retroactively named Clarence in modern Looney Tunes comics), who explains that Sylvester's constant cravings for birds can only lead to self-destruction, and knows that the only way to overcome this weakness is to kick the bird habit for good. Clarence invites Sylvester to a meeting of "Birds Anonymous" ("B.A."), a support group of cats, who have resolved to help one another overcome their bird addictions. Sylvester agrees to attend and hears other cats briefly tell of their own struggles and that B.A. was able to help them.

In this series, the Clans' survival is put at risk as humans begin to destroy their forest home with machinery. The series revolves around a group of cats, consisting of Tawnypelt of ShadowClan, Crowpaw (later Crowfeather) of WindClan, Feathertail of RiverClan, and Brambleclaw of ThunderClan, and joined by Feathertail’s brother, Stormfur, and ThunderClan apprentice Squirrelpaw (later Squirrelflight), brought together by visions from StarClan to embark on a quest to find a new home for the Clans. The series also details the Clans' subsequent journey to find their new lakeside territories, before introducing a new prophecy that "blood will spill blood and the lake will run red," foreshadowing a conflict between Brambleclaw and his half-brother Hawkfrost, who plans to follow in their father Tigerstar's footsteps and take over the Clans.
