Crane, who tongue in cheek referred to himself as high chief "Stefooma", claimed that a "Dr. Fong Foo" was also the overseer of the food and drinks at his The Luau restaurant. He additionally listed a Doc's Grog on his 1956 The Luau menu, which may have been a reference to Dr. Fong Foo, and was likely a rebranded Navy Grog (Crane called the Test Pilot the Jet Pilot, Don's Pearl became Steve's Pearl, etc.).

In July 1775, the Marines in the sloop Spy, from the Connecticut State Navy, participated in the capture of the 250-ton British Tory brig HMS Nancy. In October, the Connecticut Marines aboard Spy assisted in the capture of a large British ship. The Connecticut Navy ship Defence and her Marines captured the British ship Grog. On 15 April 1778, Marines participated in the actions in which Connecticut's Navy ships Oliver Cromwell and Defense captured the British letters-of-marque Admiral Keppel and Cyrus.

He made his final appearance as "Count Grog" on November 18, 2001, successfully defending the Brass Knuckles title against Duke Richards, Rico Rage, Hashim Ali, and Trailer Park Heat at The Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. In the main event later that night, he once more managed Major DeBeers to the SCW title, in what would also be DeBeers' retirement match. Mosorjak's retirement lasted less than three months when, on March 1, 2002, he made his return to SCW in Louisburg, North Carolina. He continued managing the Brotherhood up until the promotion's close two years later.

Marconi eventually relocated to Eastern North Carolina to manage a sales territory for Progressive Insurance. Marconi also continued wrestling part-time for G.O.U.G.E. Wrestling in Raleigh, North Carolina where he was managed by Count Grog. On September 8, 2011, Marconi was one of several G.O.U.G.E. stars including Andrea the Giant, Otto Schwanz, and Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride to appear at the annual Rebus Works' "Food Truck Rodeo" in downtown Raleigh; Marconi wrestled Jimmy Jack Funk, Jr. at the event. On April 29, 2012, Marconi and Frank Stalletto (with Notorious Norm) defeated The Gambino Brothers (Marshall and Mickey Gambino) at Deaf Wrestlefest 2012.

Initially, lemon juice (from lemons imported from Europe) was used as the additive to grog on the Royal Navy ships but was later switched to limes (grown in British colonies), not realizing that limes contained only a quarter of the vitamin C the lemons had, and that the way the juice was stored and processed destroyed much of that, leaving the lime juice unable to prevent scurvy. In time, the term lost its naval connotation and was used to refer to British people in general, and in the 1880s, British immigrants in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
