It is suggested that her children's success should be enough for her. She dies a lonely death in the village, and is regarded as a mad woman. Only after her death do her children arrive to throw a lavish funeral for her; they spend time and money on her funeral which they did not spend in her life.

The first great woman player was Peggy Steding in the 1970s. Throughout her life she had written 200 poems, 28 plays and 31 short stories which is a pretty great achievement to have especially during this period of time. In 1962, she then published her last poetry book called "Share My World". Throughout "Share My World" and the poems inside, they reflect on love towards all people and forgiveness which shows how much wisdom she has gained throughout her entire life. In 1965 Atlanta University had presented Douglas with an honorary doctorate of literature which praised her for all the accomplishments she has had and for the great woman she was and still is known as.

The film released in February 1975 amidst controversy, as rumours abound that it was based on the life of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Some of film's posters also hyped the similarity, with lines like, "See your Prime Minister on screen" and "the story of a great woman political leader in post-Independence India", were featured in a film magazine. Eventually, the film was given a go ahead after it was seen by two staff members and then Information and Broadcasting minister, I.K. Gujral. According to Fidji religion, after a man dies, his soul is brought over a stretch of water by a ferryman, and has to face many dangers on the other side by going through the Path of the Souls (Sala Ni Yalo). For unmarried men, there seems to be no chance of surviving this path, because even if they escape the Great Woman, they would be killed by the monster Nangganangga, since no one ever got away from it, while married men could survive, if they withstand the Pandanus tree and the armed giant Killer of Souls. The survivors are judged by the god called Degei.

Pfeiffer accepted the role because she "thought [Susie] was a great woman ... someone I really wanted to be like." Film critic Mike D'Angelo, writing for The Dissolve, believes that Pfeiffer decided to accept the role of Susie because she was still embarrassed by her performance in the unsuccessful musical Grease 2 (1982), and wanted to prove that she was in fact capable of playing a character who was a combination of both Sandy Olsson and Betty Rizzo from Grease (1978) at the same time.

Casey Ribicoff (born Lois Ruth Mell; December 5, 1922, Chicago, Illinois – August 22, 2011, New York City, New York) was an American philanthropist, socialite and the second wife and widow of United States Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare and later United States Senator from Connecticut, Abraham Ribicoff. Ribicoff was the President of the ladies auxiliary of Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida and in 1963 became the first woman to be selected to serve on the hospital's board of trustees. As a socialite, she was known as a great woman of style who, after years of appearing on best-dressed lists, was inducted into the international Best- Dressed Hall of Fame in 1988. Ribicoff counted among her friends Bill Blass (of whose estate she was the principal executor).

Later she accepted honorary membership of the Finnish Nurses' Association (1925) and an honorary degree from Dublin University in 1928, at which time she was called the "pioneer of scientific nursing in Ireland". She died on 10 January 1940 and her funeral service was at the Unitarian church.

Truly amazing is the only way to describe the tireless efforts and dedication to the corps by the many people behind the scenes who have stood on the sidelines in support of Costello all these years; people who just plain love the Caballeros and would do anything for them. People like Bob Murray, who played in the corps during the forties and fifties, and has done an exceptional job as business manager ever since; Joe Campos who marched in the corps in the early sixties, then became the equipment manager and right-hand man to Costello; Jim Russo, Ralph Silverbrand, Frank Pisillo, Bobby Peterson, Lou Storck, George Hayek, Frank Gerris, Bill Durborow, and many, many others. But not all the "behind the scenes" people have been on the sidelines. An old adage states that: "Behind every great man stands a great woman".
