Glassman's western stores were named Marc's, while those to the east were named Bernie Shulman's, to honor Shulman, who died in 1976, and because of brand recognition. As the Marc's stores expanded south to Solon and Akron, the recognition of the Marc's name grew. Glassman decide to retire the Bernie Shulman's name for new stores, using the Marc's name for grand openings, including stores east of Cleveland. The first of the Marc's "superstores" opened in Garfield Heights on June 30, 1992.

The Cincinnati Ben–Gals are the official cheerleading squad of the National Football League team Cincinnati Bengals. The squad performs a variety of dance moves at Paul Brown Stadium, as well as making off-field appearances at charity events, conventions, grand openings, and trade shows. The squad is one of the first NFL Cheerleading squads, having been created by Bengals founder Paul Brown in the 1968 Cincinnati Bengals season, during the team's time in the American Football League. As of 2015, the squad has 26 members.

Initially, American Stores named these stores Price Advantage, based on the Lucky Advantage prototype store in Escondido, California. Price Club sued American Stores over name infringement shortly before the grand openings.

Lamar Hotel in 2010 Sam and Joe Meyer, who had previously been successful in the grocery business, became determined to build a hotel to express the grandeur of the growing city. In 1927 they built the eleven-story (then considered a skyscraper) Lamar Hotel, on the corner of 5th Street and 21st Avenue. The hotel was named after Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar II, a former U.S. Senator from Mississippi, cabinet member, and member of the Supreme Court. When completed, the hotel had two grand openings–one for local and state officials, and a second for the general public.

In 1987, as the improvement plan generated success, the business opened their strict policy of cash-and-carry to options of using credit. Joseph Hardy's son, Joe Jr. worked his way up through the ranks and became Chief Operating Officer at 84 Lumber, however, he was passed over as successor of the company when he attracted multiple sclerosis.

During the early 1970s, Lupus promoted European Health Spa, traveling the country to make appearances and sign autographs at several of the gyms' grand openings.

The store, designed by Maggie Hardy Knox, carried about 12,000 products and was meant to increase the company’s profits by selling products at a higher profit margin. On December 7, 2002, the company exceeded $2 billion in annual sales for the first time in history.
