His father was a third cousin of Richard Bedford Bennett, eleventh Prime Minister of Canada. The colleges of technology were established starting in 1962 to respond to a need for well- trained manpower in the rapidly growing industrial sector. The colleges are distributed throughout Japan and many are in comparatively small population centres. Most of the national colleges were established by 1974 but the Okinawa college was only established in 2002 (accepting its first students in 2004). Students usually enter the colleges after lower secondary school (grade nine in the North American system or year ten in the British system).

The secondary education curriculum was designed to expose the students to cultural subjects as well as vocational and technical subjects. The hope is the students will be presented opportunities that integrate them socially and culturally to fully comprehend life out of the institution. By the end of grade nine, students are administered a Bahamas Junior Certificate examination that they must pass this exam in order to move onto their next level. The Bahamas General Certificate of Secondary Education is given to students as an exit exam at the end of grade 12.

Port Dalrymple School was opened in 1999 after the merge of George Town Primary School and George Town High School. In 1999 the school continued with the kindergarten to grade six and grade seven to ten groups, in 2000 this changed to Junior School (kindergarten to grade four), Middle School (grades five to eight) and Senior School (grade nine and ten). In 2005 this changed again when grade eight became the start of senior school. In 2017, Port Dalrymple School was extended to include grades 11 and 12.

Section B is also set by the South African Department of Education and is a national exam (in the traditional sense of the word). It is very important for each student to complete all assignments in the year as some of them are placed in a portfolio, which is reviewed and moderated by Department officials on a regular basis. Furthermore, the portfolio contributes the most of the year's marks (75%) whereas the CTA (as mentioned above) contributes only 25%. Thus a student cannot solely rely on the CTAs to pass grade nine.

Even though St. Augustine CHS has a short history, it has earned itself a distinguished reputation in the York Catholic District School Board as a strong academic school, earning high grades in the grade nine EQAO mathematics and the grade ten OSSLT. Students who finished IGCSE in this centre can directly head off to A Level study in Ulink College of International Culture. In 2014, Ulink College Guangzhou received "Ten Year Contribution Award" from Cambridge Assessment International Education. In 2015, both Ulink College of International Culture and Nanhai International Education Centre were moved to the campus of Yingdong Middle School, Nansha, China, and were named Ulink College Guangzhou, abbreviated as ULC. The new campus of Ulink College Guangzhou is 12.7 arches large and accommodates nearly 550 students from grade nine to grade twelve.

Crosscountry is an educational simulation software series of programs for North American students (grade one through grade nine). Many schools use these games as a fun way to teach their students about the states, provinces, territories, and cities. The game is published by Ingenuity Works, a Vancouver-based company originally known as Didatech Software. In most of the games, the player will drive an 18-wheeler to pick up and deliver commodities to the cities assigned, while making decisions about the best route, when to eat, sleep, fill up gas, etc.

Bateman once had a school that covered grades K–12, but closed due to the consolidation of schools. In 1966, Bateman lost its grade 12 classes, and a few years after that the school would again lose grades 10 and 11, to the neighbouring town of Gravelbourg, leaving only grade nine for the high-school level, eventually being moved there as well, leaving just the elementary classes. In 1996, Bateman's school finally closed for good. Today the once impressive brick school has been demolished due to the poor condition the building was in.

The Dogg used to perform at school concerts in his high-school years. When he was in grade nine, he and long-time friend Joe Basson, now known as Auntie Sousa, created a kwaito dancing group called Amasilkies. Before pursuing a career in music, he was a backup artist, a dancer and he also opened shows for his famous cousin Killa B and well-known friend Jossy Joss. Morocky also opened concerts for well known South African artists, including Mzekezeke, Malaika, Mafikizolo, Mandoza, Brown Dash, Brickz and Ishmael among others.

In 2003, grade nine student Eric Levack, 14, was murdered in the wooded area behind the school during lunch break. The perpetrator was classmate Justin Morton, also 14. Morton pleaded guilty to first degree murder and in 2004 was sentenced as an adult to life in prison, with no eligibility of parole for seven years. Morton was the first person in Canada charged with first degree murder under the newly enacted Youth Criminal Justice Act, which came into force on April 1, 2003, the day of the murder.

Programs like all-girl computer camps, girls' after-school computer clubs, and support groups for girls have been instilled to create more interest at a younger age. A specific example of this kind of program is the Canadian Information Processing Society outreach program, in which a representative is sent to schools in Canada, speaking specifically to grade nine girls about the benefits of Information Technology careers. Chambers first started track when he entered grade nine at Malton's Ascension of our Lord Catholic Secondary School in September 1990. Born in June 1975, he was 15 years old as of Sept 1 of that year and competed as a junior, where most 15-year-olds compete in the younger midget boy category. With little coaching or training Chambers ran to a 10.84 and a silver medal in the 100m at the O.F.S.A.A. (Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic Association) in June of '91. The race finished with the first five junior boys within 0.02 seconds of each other.

The school is located in Lockview, an area of Fall River along the Shubenacadie Canal. Other schools in the immediate area include Georges P. Vanier Junior High School and Ash Lee Jefferson Elementary School. Lockview High receives new students primarily from Georges P. Vanier Junior High School in Fall River and Harold T. Barrett Junior High School in Beaver Bank (located approximately 7 minutes from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia). Since Lockview spans grades nine through twelve, both Georges P. Vanier and Harold T. Barrett no longer have grade nine classes and instead, transfer the students to Lockview.

East London was served by the East London Technical and Commercial High School, a dual medium school, established in 1968, that grew out of and operated as a day school in the buildings of the then East London Technical College, now the East London FET College, that itself was established in 1927. The College itself largely taught post school candidates after working hours. The Technical and Commercial High School offered courses in a technical or commercial direction in Standards Eight to Ten – now Grades Ten to Twelve. Admission was a pass in Standard Seven, now grade nine.

The Worcester County Mathematics League (WOCOMAL) is a high school mathematics league composed of 32 high schools, most of which are in Worcester County, Massachusetts. It organizes seven mathematics competitions per year, four at the "varsity" level (up to grade 12) and three at the "freshman" level (up to grade nine, including middle school students). In the 2013-14 school year, WOCOMAL began allowing older students to compete in the freshman level competitions, calling this level of participation "junior varsity." Top schools from the varsity competition are selected to attend the Massachusetts Association of Math Leagues state competition.

Trudeau Student Activity Council (often simplified to 'TSAC') is an extracurricular club whose main role concerns managing all the other clubs at the school. It is composed of students from all grades. In 2016, a new position, "Equity Chair" was added to enhance the diversity at PETHS. Events held by the Student Council include Trudeaumania, a welcoming event for grade nine students; Blazer's Bash which is a school wide event taking place near the end of May; as well as many school spirit days usually focused on Spirit week in the late winter before march break.

Candy Tsa Mandebele Mokwena was born on July 19, 1970, in province the Limpopo. Mandebele has three siblings, At the age of 14. Mokwena started performing as a soloist in her Mother's community traditional group Sekgapa choir (her mother was the group leader and also played the drum for the group), in the village of Ga- Sedibeni. Mandebele grew up without her biological father Mandebele also attended public school in Limpopo, she did not receive formal schooling, she dropped out of school at grade nine. Candy launched her professional music career in 1993 as songwriter on Peter Teanet's double multi-platinum album, "Nwa’yingwani".

The current minimum requirements for graduation include: four units of communication arts, three units of mathematics, and three units of science, including conceptual physics during grade nine and biology during grade eleven. Three units of social studies courses are required; including one unit of world history, one unit of American history, and one half-unit each of national and state government. Two units of physical education are required, with one unit of ninth grade PE and one-half unit of tenth grade PE. An additional half-unit PE elective is required during the eleventh or twelfth grade. One half-unit of health during the tenth grade year is mandatory.

In 2004, he led Christian and Muslim representatives as they marched together along the India-Pakistan border in Kasur, 55 kilometres south of Lahore, to affirm their desire for peace in Kashmir and to support dialogue in both countries. He was critical of the Ethics textbook for grade nine, approved and published by the Punjab Textbook Board, which lacks a chapter on Christianity and Jesus Christ, which he called open discrimination against Christians in Pakistan. Such efforts are marginalising minorities and making them feel like strangers in their country. He claimed that the extremism prevalent during the past few decades shows that forces are working to eliminate minorities from Pakistan.

The work is solely related to knowledge gained in the senior phase of education, which starts in grade seven and ends with the successful completion of grade nine. After this the pupil begins the FET (Further Education and Training) phase which consists of the three remaining school years. Section A of the CTA is marked by the teacher and handed back to the pupil. For section B of the CTA, the pupils need only study what was asked in the first section, though for a subject such as mathematics it is advisable to have a thorough understanding of all work done in the year.

The Basic Skills Tests (BST) have been replaced by the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA-IIs) in a continued effort to develop a more rigorous K-12 education system. The MCA-IIs were created to help schools and districts measure student progress in mastering the state's new reading, writing and mathematics standards. Students' performance on these statewide assessments can be used as one of multiple criteria to determine grade promotion or retention. To graduate, students will have to pass the MCA-II writing test given in grade nine, the MCA-II reading test given in grade ten and the MCA-II math test given in grade eleven.

In January 1970, the school board of Cranbrook, British Columbia, as well as Calgary, Alberta, removed the Flowers for Algernon novel from the local age 14–15 curriculum and the school library, after a parent complained that it was "filthy and immoral". The president of the British Columbia Teachers' Federation criticised the action. Flowers for Algernon was part of the British Columbia Department of Education list of approved books for grade nine and was recommended by the British Columbia Secondary Association of Teachers of English. A month later, the board reconsidered and returned the book to the library; they did not, however, lift its ban from the curriculum.

Secondary education at Westville can be traced back to 1955 when a group of 21 pupils formed the first Standard Seven (Grade Nine) class of the then Westville High School. The secondary school initially co-existed with the infant and primary classes but by 1961 the last of those classes were accommodated in separate institutions. In 1963 work on the building of a new Westville Girls' High School commenced and at the end of 1964, the split into the boys' and the girls' high schools was completed. The Headmaster who laid the foundation and guided the school into full secondary status was N. W. Bowden (1955–1963).

Sylvan Hills High School (SHHS) is an accredited comprehensive public high school located in the city of Sherwood, Arkansas, United States, serving grades nine through twelve. Sylvan Hills is one of four high schools administered by the Pulaski County Special School District (PCSSD). Prior to 1956, Sylvan Hills School instructed students through grade nine, until local citizens gathered to approve expanding the school to a senior high, resulting in its first graduating class in 1959. Then, due to the increasing population in the surrounding communities, the school moved to its current campus, adjacent to its former facilities, starting in the 1968–69 school year.

He issued a series of recommendations including the implementation of early childhood education, standardized testing, "destreaming" of high schools, an "outcome-based" education and the replacement of the credit system with a common core curriculum. Several of his recommendations were taken up by subsequent governments including destreaming in grade nine (though not later), an outcomes-based curriculum in grades 1 to 9 and standardized testing at various levels. Following his study, Radwanski became a public policy and communications consultant in both the public and private sectors. In 1996 he was appointed by the federal government to conduct a review of Canada Post Corporation's mandate.

After World War II the high school continued as a grade nine to twelve program. In 1987 Concordia University College of Alberta was granted degree-granting status. The history and growth of the university is largely owed to the small academic high school that gradually added junior college courses to the high school program until it grew into a full-fledged university college on the same campus, gradually crowding out the original high school program. Many students as a matter of course received their high school diploma and took university courses at Concordia until either graduation or in order to transfer to the University of Alberta.

Sacred Heart High School was founded by the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate, and the school celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 1991. Sacred Heart High School has a long tradition of providing strong academic and spiritual education to its students. On January 11, 1917, the school opened, and was originally established as the Sacred Heart Institute,Western Development Museum, Family History Album, Ukrainians in the Parkland; retrieved 2012-03-18 under the leadership of Sister Ambrosia Lenkewich, the Canadian Provincial Superior at the time. In 1945, the name changed to Sacred Heart Academy and it became a boarding school for girls from grade nine to twelve.

Since her adolescent years, Cardin has been asking questions about animal behavior. In grade nine, she conducted an experiment in her house, using mice as a model organism to probe sex based differences in learning. Devoted to studying neurobiology and behavior, Cardin pursued her undergraduate degree at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where she majored in biological sciences and started conducting research in a real laboratory, instead of her own home. At Cornell, Cardin joined the lab of Timothy J. DeVoogd, where she studied learning in songbirds and mapped out the morphology and anatomy of the high vocal center (HVC) in female canaries.

Among these were Mongkut's son Vajirañāṇavarorasa and Somdet Phra Wannarat "Thap", a grade nine Pali scholar. According to anthropologist Jim Taylor, Vajirañāṇavarorasa's autobiography tells how "Thap had differences with the somewhat more "worldly" bhikkhus at Wat Bowornniwet, which led to dissension and the movement's eventual division into four primary competing factions (monastic lines or "stems")." In the mid-19th century these branches became so estranged that each one developed its own style of chanting, interpretation, and translation of Pali texts, and differed on issues related to the monastic code. It wasn't until Vajirañāṇavarorasa took control of a new phase of sangha reforms in 1892 that the administrative Thammayut hierarchy would begin to form a cohesive vision.

The school was the National Schools' Debate champion in 1989, 1996, 1998, and 2005. In common with all state-run Jamaican secondary schools, St. Mary High uses a selection process to accept students at the grade seven level. Due to the high level of competition from primary level students in St. Mary and surrounding parishes to gain entrance into St. Mary High School, one of two traditional high schools in St. Mary and the only one with a sixth form programme, the majority of entrants are higher-scoring GSAT candidates. Students from most primary and preparatory schools can attempt to gain a place by sitting the Grade Six Achievement Test (formerly the Common Entrance Examination) and the Grade Nine Achievement test.

The program follows two teenage girls in the suburbs of Toronto, Amanda Zimm (Laura Bertram) and Elizabeth "Busy" Ramone (Lani Billard), throughout life's struggles as well as showcasing the different households they grew up in. Amanda was an only child raised by liberal former hippie parents including a Mother that was into New Age philosophy and often tried to incorporate it into her parenting while Busy was from a more conservative and traditional Italian Canadian Catholic household with three older brothers. The show began as a short film and was titled Thirty-Two Double A. Eventually the producers saw that the show had the potential to be popular and turned it into a series. In preparation for Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) at the end of the year, grade nine students operate on a similar system to that of the local middle schools. All courses run from September until June with the exception of option courses which are semestered.
