Damon returned to the States in 1938 after his stock company along his stage career folded. After struggling to establish himself as a stage actor in America, Damon went to Chicago where he a took several odd jobs in radio. He soon landed a job at Air Features, Inc., a radio production company headed by daytime radio monarchs Frank and Anne Hummert. Damon became a frequent voice in Hummert soaps of the late 1930s, usually playing either sympathetic go-getters or stern authority figures, in series such as The Romance of Helen Trent and Houseboat Hannah. Damon would remain a Hummert and daytime soap favorite through the early 1940s. By the time the 1940s came about, Damon had been bouncing between Chicago and New York. On July 2, 1941, Damon became known as "The Thin Man" on NBC Radio's The Adventures of the Thin Man.

Many of his first clients were jazz artists, including, Dave Koz, Brian Culbertson, Steve Cole and Peter White. By 1997, Craig Bauer began working with a young rap group dubbed “The Go Getters”, which included a very young Kanye West. Several of the demos that Kanye West recorded at Hinge Studios were built into tracks on the album The College Dropout. Bauer later mixed “Heard ‘Em Say”, “Roses”, “Bring Me Down”, “Addiction” and “Late” on Kanye West’s Late Registration Album which was nominated for the Album of the Year Grammy Award at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards. He also mixed on Kanye's follow-up album Graduation, which was nominated again for Album of the Year at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. Craig Bauer mixed Lupe Fiasco’s debut studio album Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor in 2006, which received four Grammy Award nominations at the 49th Grammy Awards, including Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. In 2007, he mixed the majority of Fiasco’s second album, Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool, including the hit single “Superstar” which peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Cool was nominated for 4 awards at the 51st Grammy Awards.

In "Go Getters" Aaron is at Rick's house preparing for a race to collect supplies for his weekly offering to the saviors, he goes to the stairs to let Rick have a private moment with Michonne before leaving to race.34 In the episode "Sing Me to Song" Aaron and Rick leave a box truck and They stop there to rest at night, "We did not see that last night," Aaron says, looking at something along the way, Aaron and Rick approach a door with a sign: "Go on, the only thing here is that you have problems," feeling the pressure of just having a day to find supplies, they jump the door, soon they come across another warning sign; this time, the writer threatens to shoot anyone who comes for their food, supplies or ammunition, they move beyond the signal and arrive at a pond full of walkers. they see a dilapidated houseboat floating in the center of the pond. In the final mid season episode "Hearts Still Beating," Aaron and Rick risk their lives to get crucial supplies, per the request of Negan.
