Jerome shows growing discomfort with her, and rekindles his relationship with his on-again, off- again rock singer girlfriend, Clémence, eventually proposing to Clémence. Depressed, Gina stops paying her rent checks or going to work, resulting in her being kicked out of her apartment and fired from her job. She decides to devote herself full-time to getting together with Jerome, and lies to him that she is pregnant with his child.

Walter Ballard had a huge crash in this race on lap 16 as a result of getting together with Buddy Baker in the tri-oval. Baker himself would disappear from the race on lap 18. Ballard hit the infield grass and 3 times near the pit road entrance in the tri-oval grass. Raymond Williams earned the dubious honor of being the only driver ever to both begin and finish in last- place in the same Daytona 500. Also, attrition was through the roof in this race, as only 26 cars even made it 200 miles, just 22 cars ran at least half the race, and just 19 made it 110 laps.

According to Hackett, by the end of the tour the band was falling apart, and his dissatisfaction with both the music and financial management of GTR (as well as a failure to see eye-to-eye with Steve Howe) led to his beginning to question the project. He later commented "it looked like either Steve Howe or I might jump ship with GTR, and I think the possibility of it being an on-going entity was mooted ... At the time, I saw GTR as becoming more of a project than a band. Perhaps the idea of a number of guitarists all getting together." With this in mind, Hackett approached guitarist Brian May of Queen with the suggestion that he join the project.

Stressed and alone, Aphrodite runs into Angelle at the airport who convinces her to stay with him for a couple of days and relax. After finally mending their relationship she begins to trust him and in turn Angelle goes to Ektora with the news that while in London a week before getting together with Ektora, Aphrodite had IVF which could be the result of her pregnancy. Ektora is left heartbroken and Aphrodite left free to leave without worrying Ektora will find her or want her anymore. Along with his guide Antonio Delgado Xavi attends his first Paralympic Games ( Athens 2004 ) competing in three disciplines: 100m, 200m sprint and the long jump, finishing 9th in the long jump with a personal best in the 200 meters of 24.60 seconds. Four years later he attended the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games, where the triple jump was confirmed to be his best discipline, to the detriment of the 200 m sprint.
