On a positive note, the Gee-Gees has several all- star and record-breaking performances from some of their players. In the final game of the season against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, Gee-Gees receiver Ian Stewart broke the school receiving record and became the first Gee-Gees receiver ever to have over 1000 receiving yards.

Marcel Bellefeuille (born March 19, 1966) is the head coach for the University of Ottawa's football team, the Ottawa Gee-Gees of U Sports. He originally began his coaching career with Ottawa in 1995 and won the program's second Vanier Cup championship in 2000. He then spent 16 years coaching in the Canadian Football League (CFL), including a stint as the head coach of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from to . Bellefeuille returned as head coach of the Gee- Gees in 2020.

With vast coaching experience under his belt, Barresi was able to right the ship in his first year. With the help of top seniors Aaron Colbon, Brendan Gillanders, and Simon Le Marquand, the team went 5–3 record and a returned to the playoffs. The Gee-Gees opened their 2014 campaign at home on September 1, 2014 against the York Lions with a 51–7 win. Other important performances by the Gee-Gees included their 37-30 comeback win over the Queens Golden Gaels and their 38–18 win over the McMaster Marauders to put them into the playoffs.

In 1975 the number-one-ranked University of Ottawa Gee Gees had the first Canadian Interuniversity Sport (now U Sports) undefeated season. After completing their perfect regular season at 8–0, the Gees Gees won their first play-off defeating the number-two-ranked Toronto Varsity Blues 14–7. The Gees Gees then demolished the Windsor Lancers 45–6 to win the Yates Cup and the right to play for the national championship and the Vanier Cup. The undefeated season was completed on November 21, 1975, when the Gee Gees defeated the University of Calgary Dinos 14–9 at CNE Stadium in Toronto.

As a result of Kristopher Robertson's impressive showings at both the Montreal regional combine and the main combine in Toronto, he soared to being the 11th overall selection in the 2013 CFL Draft.

In their first playoff appearance since 2003, the Warriors lost to the Guelph Gryphons by a score of 45-34. In 2019, the Warriors finished again with a 4-4 record, but this time earned their first post-season victory in 20 years with a resounding 44-21 win over the Ottawa Gee-Gees.

Alexandre played football at Cégep du Vieux Montréal. With Alexandre, the Vieux Montréal Spartiates won the AAA football final at the Bol d'Or in 1997. From 1998 to 2001, Alexandre played for the Ottawa Gee-Gees. He was ejected from a 1998 CIAU semifinal game against the Laval Rouge et Or after objecting to an official's call.

Following the Gee-Gees success in prior years, new head coach Bob O'Billovich stepped up and led the team to one of their best seasons ever. After captaining the football, basketball, and baseball teams at the University of Montana, O'Billovitch had a career in the CFL before settling in as head coach of the 1970 Gee-Gees. The quality of team this year set the table for a run to the school's first Vanier Cup after posting a 7-1-1 regular season record. In the playoffs, the team cruised to an Atlantic Bowl victory with a 24–11 win over the UNB Varsity Reds. The Garnet and Grey advanced to their first appearance in the Vanier Cup (then College Bowl) national final, but lost 38–11 to the Manitoba Bisons at Toronto’s Varsity Stadium.

Bellefeuille then departed from the team, to join the CFL ranks, where he has coached since. He is currently the Wide Receivers Coach for the BC Lions. In 2001, the team reached the Yates Cup after a move to the OUA, the Gee-Gees ran into a McMaster team ready to exact revenge from the prior year and defeated the team 30–22.

The field is also fitted with a dome for use during the winter months, which provides opportunities to be utilized by the schools varsity teams, intramural sports, and other public clubs or community organizations. In October 2013, Gee-Gees Field hosted the iconic Panda Game. In November 2018, the site will be the host venue for the U Sports Women's Soccer National Championship.

The Carleton Ravens are nationally ranked in basketball, and the Ottawa Gee-Gees are nationally ranked in football and basketball. Algonquin College has also won numerous national championships. The first Colonel By Classic was held on October 19, 2016 between the two men's hockey teams in front of at TD Place Arena. This was Gee-Gees first season back from their 2014–16 suspension. Carleton won the game 6–2. Attendance has gone up each year the event has been held, with 2,286 and 2,578 in attendance for the 2017 and 2018 men's games respectively.

In the program's fourth year, Chapdelaine led the Rouge et Or to a victory in the 35th Vanier Cup in 1999, the first in school history. The Rouge et Or became the first francophone school to win the Vanier Cup. Laval also finished with an 8-0 record in the 2000 season, but they were upset at home by the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the Dunsmore Cup.

Mainly this is due to the Rams being a fairly new CIS program. The Rams affiliated themselves with the University of Regina in time for the 1999 season. They won the Hardy Trophy in 2000 and advanced to the Vanier Cup, losing to the Ottawa Gee-Gees 42-39. However, prior to joining the CIS, the Rams were widely considered one of the top CJFL programs.

Kellman was born in Saint Michael, Barbados, but when he was still young, his family moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Six years later, they relocated to Chomedey Laval where, as a teen, he played both baseball and football. Kellman played football for the John Abbott Islanders and the University of Ottawa Gee Gees. Kellman started his professional wrestling career in February 1999 as a graduate of the Northern Championship Wrestling’s school. He was trained under the guidance of Marc Pilon. He debuted six months later against Pilon for the NCW Quebec Heavyweight Championship. In the fall, wrestling was put on hold to go play university football for the Ottawa Gee Gees. In 2002, he came back to the Montreal wrestling scene for Paul Leduc’s Federation Lutte Québécoise.

Alicia Blomberg is a former ice hockey player. Having played at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport level with the Ottawa Gee Gees women's ice hockey program, she was also a member of the Canada women's national ball hockey team that won a gold medal at the 2013 and 2015 ISBHF World Championships. From 2012-15, Blomberg has also competed in the women's division at Red Bull Crashed Ice, capturing a bronze medal in 2014.

He played college basketball at the University of Ottawa, earning CIS Outstanding Player, First Team All-Canadian and OUA Player of the Year honors in his fifth year with the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Appearing in a total of 105 games over the span of his five-year career at Ottawa, Berhanemeskel averaged 19.0 points per contest. He was Ottawa's all-time points leader and first in career three-pointers when he graduated.

He was also named a first-team Ontario University Athletics (OUA) all-star. In the postseason, the Marauders won the Yates Cup by defeating the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, and Aidoo was named the most valuable player for the game with 168 yards and two touchdowns. McMaster lost 20–15 against the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the Churchill Bowl. They finished the season one game away from playing in the Vanier Cup.

The university owns and operates three athletic facilities on the university's two campuses. Montpetit Hall and Minto Sports Complex are located on the main campus and another is located on Lees. Montpetit is centrally located on campus and is the home to the varsity basketball and swimming teams. The Minto Sports Complex houses the university's two arena ice rinks, which seat 840 as well as Matt Anthony Field the home of Gee-Gees soccer and rugby, which seats 1,500.

The team continued to be a national powerhouse during the early and mid-1990s. The teams led by former Concordia Stinger Larry Ring won three consecutive Dunsmore Cups in 1995, 1996, and 1997. In the 1997 season, the team went on to play in the Vanier Cup, they lost to the UBC Thunderbirds 39–23. Following the season, the Gee-Gees were stripped of their Dunsmore Cup and Churchill Bowl for the play of ineligible players.

In 2002, he signed a contract with Hamilton Thunder. On June 29, 2002 he was loaned to the Calgary Storm of the USL A-League. In 2003, he helped Hamilton clinch their first Western Conference title, and secured a postseason berth.

Fannie Desforges is a Canadian athlete from Fournier, Ontario. She is the second Canadian woman to win a competition in the Red Bull Crashed Ice competition. In addition, she has competed for the Ottawa Gee Gees women's ice hockey program in Canadian Interuniversity Sport, while competing for the Canada women's national ball hockey team at the 2011 Street and Ball Hockey World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia. In the 2013 CWHL Draft, she was selected by the Montreal Stars.

The 2016 Carleton Ravens football team represented Carleton University in the 2016 CIS football season. The Ravens played in their 55th season overall and their fourth season of Canadian Interuniversity Sport play after a 15-year hiatus. Carleton had a fairly successful season, finishing the regular season with a 6-2 record, 4th in the OUA. This gave the Ravens the right to host their first playoff game since 1986, against their cross-town rivals, the Ottawa Gee-Gees.

Mickey Goulet (born September 13, 1947) was the head coach for the Italian Olympic team (2005–2008). Goulet is the former head coach of the University of Ottawa Gee-Gee's. The 2002-03 season was the final season for Mickey Goulet at the University of Ottawa, after spending fourteen years behind the Gee-Gees’ bench. Currently is the head coach of the Italian Under 20 and Under 18 National team as well as the Minor Midget Ottawa Senators AAA team.

Within the first two days of the start of the free agency period, the Redblacks made four substantial acquisitions. On February 10, 2015, the Redblacks signed Ernest Jackson from the BC Lions to a two-year, $270,000 deal. The next day Ottawa announced they had signed Greg Ellingson (from the Tiger-Cats), SirVincent Rogers (from the Argonauts), and former Ottawa Gee-Gees quarterback and current wide receiver Brad Sinopoli (from the Stampeders). The Mount Allison University Athletics & Recreation is led by Pierre Arsenault. Arsenault came to Mount Allison from the New Brunswick Golf Association, where he served as Executive Director for seven years. Prior to this, Arsenault worked with Hockey Canada's Atlantic Centre of Excellence, the Saskatchewan Hockey Association, and with the University of Ottawa's Gee-Gees Varsity Hockey Team. He holds a Bachelor of Physical Education (concentration in sports administration) from the University of New Brunswick and a master's degree in sport administration from the University of Ottawa.

The two winners of this round receive the OUA's berths in the USports Men's Basketball Final 8 and contest a one game final for the Wilson Cup. Following the disastrous 2012 season, Jamie Barresi was hired for his first head coaching job at his alma mater. Barresi was the Gee-Gees starting quarterback from 1976 to 1979 and became an assistant coach with the team afterwards. His career then took him to the NCAA where he spent time coaching with Penn State, Florida, Wake Forest, and UCF. Returning to Canada in the early-2000s Barresi held CFL jobs with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, BC Lions, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and Edmonton Eskimos.

The annual Panda Game took place in front of a sellout crowd of 23,329 at Lansdowne Park. Each team looked strong to begin the game, but the Carleton Ravens ultimately won the game 43–23, extending their win streak to 3 years. After strong regular seasons by both the Gee-Gees and Ravens, the two teams were set to square off in the first round of the OUA playoffs. The game took place at MNP Park with the Ravens taking the victory 45–9.

The Colonel By Classic is a Canadian rivalry hockey game between the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees and the Carleton University Ravens. The game has been held between men's teams since 2016, with a women's game added in 2018. Both men's teams compete in the East division of Ontario University Athletics and both women's compete in the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec. The series is the newest of three annual rivalry series between the two schools, both located in the city of Ottawa.

It is one of the oldest and richest rivalries in Canadian university football. Its name is derived from the trophy presented to the winner each year; Pedro the Panda. Sylvester Patrick "Silver" Quilty (February 8, 1891 – December 2, 1976) was a Canadian football player, referee, coach and sport administrator. As a player, he won the Yates Cup in 1907 with the Ottawa Gee-Gees football team, and was credited as the first man to play the flying wing position. He also played with the Ottawa Rough Riders, and the McGill Redmen football team. After his playing career, he became a football referee and officiated the 10th Grey Cup, and also coached the Ottawa Rough Riders.

On February 21, 2013 the Canadian Football Hall of Fame announced that he would be in their class of inductees in September 2013. Gorrell played football at Henry Wise Wood Senior High School in Calgary and went on to a 1975 Vanier Cup win during his playing years with the University of Ottawa. The Gee-Gees Miles Gorrell Award for Best Lineman is named in his honour. From 2005-2010, Gorrell served as a Player Personnel Assistant & Director of Canadian Scouting with the Toronto Argonauts.

Bennett played in 23 games for the Ottawa Gee-Gees in 2014, 2016, and 2017 as a defensive back and linebacker. Following shoulder surgery in August 2015, he sat out the 2015 season. Over those three seasons, he accumulated 89 solo tackles, 39 assisted tackles, one sack, and three interceptions, returning one for a touchdown. He was also featured on punt and kick returns, recording 40 kick returns for a 26.3-yard average with two touchdowns and 19 punt returns for a 10.0-yard average.

After the undefeated '75 season, Don Gilbert stepped down and assistant coach Dwight Fowler stepped up into the head coaching role. Fowler's team was not quite the same quality of the prior team, but still made light work of opponents. The team won the 1976 Yates Cup, led by quarterback Jamie Barresi the team moved on to the Atlantic Bowl where they met the Acadia Axemen. In a tight battle, the Gee-Gees lost 18–16 to the hometown team, Ottawa's Mike Murphy was named Most Valuable Player.

Jeff Avery (born March 28, 1953) is a former professional Canadian football wide receiver for the Ottawa Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League. He was drafted as a territorial exemption in the 1976 CFL Draft by the Rough Riders and would win the Grey Cup with the team that same year. Less than two years later, in March 2008, a new franchise was awarded to the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group, led by Jeff Hunt, to begin play in 2010. The franchise was conditional upon reconstruction of Frank Clair Stadium, leading to a four-year delay for the team. The third iteration of professional football in Ottawa, the Ottawa Redblacks, began play in 2014, playing in the newly refurbished TD Place Stadium. Jamie Barresi is a Canadian football coach who was most recently the head coach of the University of Ottawa's football team, the Ottawa Gee-Gees. He was hired as the team's head coach on January 15, 2013 and coached the team for seven years with a 35-21 record. It was announced on March 20, 2020 that Barresi was leaving the program. He coached professionally in the Canadian Football League for nine years including his role as running backs coach for the BC Lions in 2006 where he won a Grey Cup championship.

It wasn't until the early 60's that Principal Ogden Glass gave the University the direction that athletics needed to provide the necessary moral and financial support that ultimately shaped the modern day success of the Gaiters football program. Principal Glass hired Bruce Coulter as Director of Athletics and Head Football Coach in 1961. This hiring would help Bishop's develop a full-fledged athletic program with teams that could compete on the senior intercollegiate level. Coulter's team won their first championship in 1964 after defeating the Ottawa Gee-Gees 32–12 in the Ottawa-St.

The name is a result of a progressive evolution. Similar to many older institutions, their teams were long referred to by the school's colours as the Garnet and Grey (). Eventually, members of the media began to refer to the teams simply as the ‘GGs’, providing a nickname in both English and French for the bilingual school's teams. The nickname stuck and would eventually be combined with a horse racing term (where a gee-gee is the first horse out of the starting gate) to create the current Gee-Gees team name.

Due to recurring issues with his healing leg, Aidoo missed multiple games in October but returned for the playoffs. He scored twice in his first game back against the York Yeomen and found the endzone again against Western in the conference semi-finals. McMaster won the Yates Cup after defeating the Ottawa Gee-Gees 30–22, but ended their season with a loss in the Churchill Bowl for the second year in a row. Aidoo described the 26–7 loss against the Manitoba Bisons as "a horrible game, probably the worst I've ever played".

At the Panda Game in 1987, the game was marred by an accident when at least 25 students were injured when a section of railing collapsed and the result was forfeited. Carleton established a football team during the 1945–46 academic year, losing 15–0 to Macdonald College during its debut match. In tandem with basketball and hockey, Carleton's football matches transformed into a staple of student life at Carleton during the early years of the school, securing funding for sports equipment early in the school's history. In 1959, Carleton's move to the Rideau campus provided the team with updated facilities, including a field, training room, and equipment room. In 1955, the football team began competing in the much-celebrated annual Panda Game against their rivals, the Ottawa Gee-Gees.

In 2008 Doug established the University of Ottawa Gee Gees football teams’ first ever entrance scholarship. The scholarship has been named after the three coaches who were an inspiration to Doug through High School and University. They are Don Gilbert, Doug’s head football coach at the University of Ottawa, Doug Fraser and Bob Morrison, Doug’s basketball and football coaches at La Salle Secondary in Kingston. The Gilbert-Fraser- Morrison Scholarship is awarded annually to a LaSalle Secondary School and/or a Kingston area high school student athlete planning to attend and play football at the University of Ottawa.

The game of football was now rapidly spreading, and popularity increased to go along with the use of the forward pass. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, more and more separation began to establish the game of football as it is seen today. Like most football teams across North America, significant breaks in action were caused during WWI and WWII, as many men were doing service in Europe. In 1953, as the team's popularity rose, Gee-Gees moved on from their on-campus home at the Varsity Oval to the larger and more centrally located Lansdowne Park, which they would now share with the Ottawa Rough Riders.

The Gee-Gees had high hopes for their 2015 season after two straight winning season with Jamie Barresi as their head coach, but ultimately fell short. The Garnet and Grey finished eighth the OUA with a 3–5 record, their first losing record since the 2012 season. The injury-riddled season was epitomized by the Panda Game, which Carleton win in double-overtime with a score of 48–45. The 2015 Panda Game was the highest scoring game in the rivalry match's history. They finished the season fourth in the OUA offensively with 300 points, but ninth defensively giving up 331 points in the 11-team conference.

On January 23, 2007, the two men's basketball teams faced off at Scotiabank Place in front of nearly 9,720 spectators, which was a record crowd for a regular season basketball game in U Sports (then known as Canadian Interuniversity Sport). The Ottawa Gee-Gees won the inaugural event 64–62. This event, now known as the Capital Hoops Classic, has been expanded to include the women's teams as well, with the Classic featuring a doubleheader of both teams. In 1966, Quilty was inducted into both the Ottawa Sport Hall of Fame, and the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. In 1973, he was inducted in the inaugural class of the Ottawa Gee-Gees Football Hall of Fame. Quilty attended the opening of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame building in Hamilton, Ontario on September 14, 1973, at a mass induction ceremony for all of the previous 38 inductees. In 1975, he was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, and attended a mass induction ceremony on August 23, 1975, for previous inductees of the Hockey Hall of Fame and the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

That night the Gee Gees became the first undefeated team in CIS and Vanier Cup history. The 1975 Gees Gees roster had a big impact on the CFL. Gee Gee Players from the 1975 team played in the CFL for a cumulative total of 96 years and throughout their professional careers in the CFL accomplished: one Canadian Football Hall of Fame Inductee, one Grey Cup Canadian MVP, two Frank M. Gibson Trophies for Outstanding Rookie Eastern Division, two CFL Leo Dandurand Trophy Outstanding Lineman Eastern Division, twenty CFL and Divisional All-Star Selections, twenty-three Grey Cup Appearances and a total of twelve Grey Cup rings.

In February 2011 Ponnambalam became one of the vice- presidents of the TNPF. He contested the 2015 parliamentary election as a TNPF candidates in Jaffna District but, again, the TNPF failed to win any seats in Parliament. Ponnambalam contested the 2020 parliamentary election as a TNPF candidate in Jaffna District and was re-elected to the Parliament of Sri Lanka. Ponnambalam has extensive shareholdings in several companies listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange - either directly or through family owned companies Gee Gees Properties (Pvt) Ltd and Gitanjali Gajaluckshmi (Pvt) Ltd - including Serendib Land PLC (property developer), LOLC Holdings PLC/Lanka ORIX Leasing Company (leasing, factoring and microfinance) and Bukit Darah PLC (palm oil).

The UNB Red Bombers football team first began play in 1948 in exhibition play before playing in the first intercollegiate Canadian football game played in New Brunswick in 1949. The program was in continuous operation until it was dropped after the 1980 season, with the school making the announcement in June 1981. In their history, the Red Bombers won two Jewett Trophy conference championships in 1969 and 1970, but lost in the following Atlantic Bowls to the McGill Redmen and Ottawa Gee-Gees respectively. In 2008, the University made the announcement that the Red Bombers were to be reborn in 2009 in the Atlantic Football League, along with University of New Brunswick Saint John, Dalhouse University, and Holland College.

In the following season, she was named a Canada West Second-Team All-Star as she finished fifth in kills and points per game. That year, the Bisons lost the conference championship to the UBC Thunderbirds, but by finishing second, the team qualified for the 2014 CIS women's volleyball championship. The Bisons defeated the Ottawa Gee-Gees, Dalhousie Tigers, and finally the first-seeded UBC Thunderbirds to claim the national championship as Pischke was also named to the Championship All-Star Team. Pischke has been the recipient of many academic awards at the University of Manitoba including Sport Manitoba's prestigious Princess Royal Pan Am Scholarships and Milt Stegall Scholarship for community service, athletics, and a cumulative GPA above 4.0.

The history of university football in Quebec goes back to the early foundations of football in Canada. The earliest interuniversity football league was the Canadian Intercollegiate Rugby Football Union (CIRFU) which was formed in late 1897 and began competition in 1898. The CIRFU competed for the Yates Cup, donated by H. B. Yates of McGill University in 1898 and awarded to the league champion annually. Teams competing since that first year were McGill Redmen, Queen's Golden Gaels, and the Toronto Varsity Blues. In following years, they were joined by Ottawa Gee-Gees (1905–1912), Royal Military College (1913), Western Ontario Mustangs (1929–1970), McMaster Marauders (1952–1953, 1968–1970), and Waterloo Warriors (1968–1970).

The Capital Hoops Classic is a Canadian rivalry basketball series between the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees and Carleton University Ravens sponsored by bank holding company MBNA. The series, featuring both the men's and women's teams, has been held since 2007 at Canadian Tire Centre (known until 2013 as Scotiabank Place) and traditionally occurs on the first Friday in February. Both schools are located in the city of Ottawa; Ottawa is older of the two and is located in the downtown Sandy Hill neighbourhood of the city, while Carleton sits between Old Ottawa South and Dow's Lake. Both teams compete in the East division of Ontario University Athletics in U Sports, and frequently finish near the top of the league table.

In 1974, the remaining football teams from the Ontario and Quebec provincial associations were combined into the new Ontario-Quebec Intercollegiate Football Conference (OQIFC) with East and West Divisions. All Quebec-based teams were in the East along with Carleton Ravens, Ottawa Gee-Gees, Queen's Golden Gaels, and, for the 1974 and 1975 seasons, Toronto Varsity Blues. In 1980, the OQIFC re-organised again and the West division became the Ontario Universities Athletics Association and the East division retained the Ontario- Quebec Intercollegiate Football Conference name without the need of a division. Following the 2000 season, the University of Ottawa and Queen's University withdrew from the OQIFC and joined the OUA football conference leaving the OQIFC with only Quebec teams so it became known as the Quebec Intercollegiate Football Conference (QIFC).

Richard Ernest Tremblay (born November 23, 1944) is a Canadian child psychologist and Professor of Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Psychology at the University of Montreal, where he holds the Canada Research Chair in child development. He has also served as director of the Research Unit on Children's Psychosocial Maladjustment, a multidisciplinary research unit funded by the University of Montreal, Laval University, and McGill University, since it was founded in 1984. His research has focused on the development of aggressive behavior in children and the potential for early intervention programs to reduce the chances of children turning to crime in adulthood. Tremblay received his B.A. from the University of Ottawa, where he majored in physical education and played as a goal tender for the Ottawa Gee-Gees, the school's ice hockey team.

Off-course betting was illegal until the Betting and Gaming Act 1960 was introduced, although bets could be placed at a racecourse ("on-course") on any event, not just the races being held at that course. Credit betting by post or telephone was legal because of a loophole in the law of "resorting to a house for the purpose of betting" was taken to mean physically resorting to the house rather than simply communicating with someone there. Gambling in the United Kingdom is common and not regarded necessarily as a vice but a "little flutter on the gee-gees", but there are strict controls on where and how a bet can be placed (they may not be placed in pubs, for example). The Gambling Act 2005 covers those controls, and the Gambling Commission oversees them.

Some of his career highlights include the Vanier Cup with the University of Ottawa Gee- Gees in 1975, being the eastern conference nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie in 1976, losing out to John Sciarra of the BC Lions, and winning three Grey Cup Championships with Edmonton Eskimos from 1980 to 1982, and again being a Grey Cup winner in 1999 as General Manager of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In the 1981 Grey Cup game Lumsden with 8 receptions for 91 yards plus a carry for 2 yards was selected as the Outstanding Canadian being awarded with the Dick Suderman Trophy. In ten seasons Lumsden played in 141 regular season games and carried the ball 767 times for 3755 yards and with 36 touchdowns. He also had 180 receptions for 1729 yards and 15 more touchdowns.

The addition of full-time coaches Jean-Vincent Posy-Audette (Defensive Coordinator), Nathan Taylor (Special Teams Coordinator), and Carl Tolmie (Offensive Line coach) began the Gee-Gees' journey back to the post-season. The adjustments to the coaching staff paid off, as the team finished 6-2 and returned to playoff action in 2016. The team opened the season with a 65–1 victory over the Waterloo Warriors, a victory that would set the tone for the rest of the season. Highlights of the season included a 30–8 win over the McMaster Marauders, their 31–28 overtime victory over the Guelph Gryphons, and their 42–41 overtime victory over the Queens Gaels which was won by a 2-point conversion attempt that was tipped by a Golden Gaels defender in the end zone but was ultimately reeled in by Mitchell Baines.
