Family tradition has it that Charlie Allen had submitted a listing of names to the US Post Office for the name of the town. That original list was rejected.
The museum includes a conservation area to restore cars. The facility is a "green building" to include 100% power from solar energy using 1,200 solar panels. In addition to automobiles, the collection includes vintage balloon tire bicycles, auto related neon signs, antique gas pumps, jukeboxes, pedal cars, vintage soda coolers, motorcycles. The museum has conducted several fundraisers for charitable causes, including selling valuable cars from the collection and donating the proceeds.
Their son, Acton, took over the reins in 1922 and inherited the store when Thomas died in 1928. He and his wife Jessie would continue to operate and manage the store until 1977. In 1926, automobiles began to appear at Harrison Mills, and the Kilbys installed gravity-fed gas pumps that served travellers till 1977. In 1973, Acton received a plaque from Imperial Oil, rewarding him for fifty years of service.
Chicago: Rand McNally, 2008, p. 61. Its elevation is 3,337 feet (1,017 m). It offers basic services not only to the community, but those that are passing through as well: a mercantile store with gas pumps, lodging through the mercantile, a post office, a one-room school accommodating grades K-8, a volunteer fire department and a small church. The post office was established in 1916 with Charles Schofield as postmaster.
Flo's V8 Cafe serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert with traditional American homestyle fare. Part of the indoor dining room is located inside of Doc Hudson's Ornament Valley Medical Clinic, while guests can also dine outdoors underneath the gas pumps and at tables behind the restaurant. Decor inside pays tribute to the "Motorama Girls" story from the Cars Storybook and deleted scenes, and to the Fabulous Hudson Hornet's Piston Cup titles.
A lever broke the cartridge and enough gas escaped to inflate a tire. Modern gas pumps are often used by mountain bike or road bike racers who need to save weight, and to save time if they puncture during a race. They can be a one-time pump or a pump that can be fitted with a replacement cartridge. Most pumps use carbon dioxide and standard-threaded 16g CO2 canisters.
Opened in 2007, the restaurant's structure incorporates a cantilevered truss extending 100 feet over the gas pumps and parking area in the forecourt. The roadside sign is 66 feet tall and weighs 4 tons. The height is a reference to the historic highway beside which it is situated. Although apparently constructed from neon tubes, it is actually lit by LEDs, which provide a spectacular light show each night.
The State Department interceded with the British on Socony's behalf, and in December 1922 Socony completed its surveys. The surveys indicated that oil was not available in commercial quantities, after which Socony abandoned its concessionary claims and joined the Iraq Petroleum Company (IPC) in 1928. Sonol began operating mechanical gas pumps in 1924. By the 1940s, various transnational oil companies were operating in Mandatory Palestine, including IPC, Shell and Socony-Vacuum.
Rod Phillips, served as Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks in the first year of the Ford administration. During that time, the Ford government "legislated an end to cap and trade and redesigned the Endangered Species act". Jeff Yurek was appointed as Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks in June, 2019. Carbon tax decals on gas pumps in Ontario, mandated by the Ford government during the 2019 Canadian federal election.
The Maintenance Historic District includes four CCC-built structures. The storage building is a wood-frame structure with a gable roof, similar to military storage buildings built in the 1930s and 1940s. A three-bay garage of standard military design is included in this historic district, as was the gas pump house with an extended eave to protect the gas pumps. The Park Ranger's residence is a -story gable-roofed house, with modern vinyl siding.
"Realizing that continued rising prices would force the pumps to be replaced in the near future, I borrowed $5,000 to invest in gas pumps." Armen's prediction soon proved correct and nearly every gas station pump in America had been replaced. After losing his mother because of cancer, Dr. Armen was inspired to find new methods of cancer treatment. He founded and currently is the CEO of Agenus, a biotechnology company focused on immunotherapy.
In 2004, Funk was elected mayor of Newark, defeating incumbent Harold Godwin with 74 percent of the vote. He was reelected three times. He was a member of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition that was formed in 2006. On August 8, 2013, Funk announced his resignation as mayor, citing health concerns brought on by stress from community opposition to the construction of a Wawa convenience store and gas pumps near his neighborhood.
The gas pumps were located on a concrete median, no longer extant, in front of the station. August L. Kreinbring was the first owner/operator of the station and he created a park-like setting to the west of the station where highway travelers could relax. New owners built the service bay annex on the park area in 1949. The storage room on the north side of the cottage was added at the same time.
Reflecting its history as a toll road, two pairs of service plazas lie opposite one-another along the parkway in Orange and North Haven. All were renovated since 2011, along with six further south on the Merritt Parkway. In addition to gas pumps and an Alltown convenience store at each plaza, they now include Dunkin' Donuts and Subway shops. Prior to the renovations, no fast-food service had been available at any of the plazas.
Over the years Diebold has developed a number of products involved with automated dispensation, for example automated teller machines, movie vending machines, airline ticket vending machines, and credit-card activated gas pumps. In 1965 Diebold began "offering pneumatic tube delivery systems to banks, hospitals, post offices, libraries, office buildings" and many other industrial facilities. In the mid-1990s Diebold created its MedSelect Systems division, which introduced an automated drug dispensing system in 1995.
The current building was constructed in 2011, with a convenience store taking over the north end of the building, and the bar and diner located on the south end. Four gas pumps are also located on the east side of the building. The bar offers beer on tap and many alcoholic beverages for sale. Marge's Diner offers several pub favorites, as well as appetizers, ranging from chislic and onion rings to chicken sandwiches and pizza.
Dutra then grabs a nozzle from one of the gas pumps and lights it up to be used as a flame thrower. Loren grabs Dutra, and Loren and Dutra struggle over the nozzle. Dutra dies when Loren forces the nozzle to Dutra's face, setting Dutra on fire. Charlie survives his injuries, and the park is reopened with a substantial spike in business due to the notoriety of the crimes that happened there.
In 1925 the first highway was completed with ferry landings to complete the gap between the Lower Matcombe keys and Key West. With the addition of the highway running through Grassy Key Ed Neff's Bonefish Lunchroom was built in 1935 complete with gas pumps to accommodate tourists that could now drive to Key West instead of taking a ferry. This highway was nicknamed the Overseas Highway. 1935 was the first year recorded with a disastrous hurricane.
In 1950, the Union Oil Museum was established, and in 1990, for its Centennial Celebration, the building was restored to its original appearance and reopened as a new state-of-the-art oil museum known as the California Oil Museum. The exhibits include oil and gas industry equipment, such as an 1890s iron and timber operating drilling rig, historic gas pumps and product containers, a recreated 1890s period Union Oil Company corporate headquarters office, and a 1930s period apartment.
McCoy then knocks him out. Tom finds a window and, as a distraction, starts shooting the gas tanks on the gang's motorcycles; he then reaches Ellen's room, cuts her free and, with McCoy's help, escapes just as Billy arrives at the front door. Riding in the convertible, Tom sends his crew off to meet at the Grant Street Overpass, and leaves to blow up the gas pumps outside a bar. Raven appears out of the flames to confront Tom.
In 1997, Albertsons experimented by adding gas pumps and a small convenience store in front one of its stores in Eagle, Idaho. Since the experiment was successful, Albertsons decided to expand this concept to all stores that would be able to support it and was allowed by local governmental zoning. The new concept was called Albertsons Express. After Albertsons acquired American Stores in 1999, Albertsons wanted to expand the Albertsons Express concept to the former American Stores chains.
When Ontario Highway 16 was constructed around 1918, more traffic came through the community. This led to the construction of a small general store and gas pumps, possibly the last businesses to be established in Glen Smail. By the 1950s, small family farms began to be less profitable due to improved infrastructure and few remained operational in the village. In the 1970s, the land was sold off to the Land Bank and many structures were subsequently demolished.
An agreement on avoidance of double taxation and fiscal evasion prevention including an agreement on bilateral investment treaty had been signed between the two countries. Since 2007, Malaysian exports to Lebanon total around 84,708 and Lebanese exports at 8,419. Malaysian exports including television parts, palm oil, clothing accessories, gas pumps and wood products, while Lebanese exports such as cocoa products, copper waste, book and hair products including packing containers. However, in 2011, Lebanese exports decrease to 1,747 while Malaysian exports increase to 144,756.
Lakeside Storage and Museum is the largest Petroliana Museum of its kind in the World. It has more original porcelain Gas/Oil signs posted on poles than any other collection. The Museum includes the oldest Brands of gas and oil begun in Utah in 1908 known as the Utah Oil Refining Company and later revised to UTOCO. The museum also includes antique gas pumps, airplanes, antique cars, and fuel delivery vehicles, as well as a Steam-powered and other powered antique tractor collection.
This picture is looking at the western end of the field. The T-Hangars are located on the far side of the runway and the FBO is located near the gas pumps on the near side of the runway. (The approach end of runway 28 is not visible.) Smoketown Airport is an airport open to the public, located in Smoketown, east of Lancaster, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. The airport is owned by Marlin Horst and managed by Mel Glick.
The name was changed to Baldwin in honor of Dr. Abel Seymour Baldwin, the president of the Florida, Atlantic and Gulf Central Railroad, a railroad that ran from Lake City to Jacksonville. Further development in Baldwin led to the establishment of a telegraphic line running from Jacksonville to Baldwin. A country store with gas pumps in 1926. On August 10, 1864 during the Civil War a skirmish occurred between a Confederate cavalry and the 102nd Regiment United States Colored Troops.
Bežanija is mostly residential area. Some very important industrial facilities are located in the areas geographically, though not administratively, parts of Bežanija: IMT and FOM factories, section of the Belgrade's Waterwoks and Sewage, Minel, etc. Commercial sector is developing recently, including a green market, several gas pumps, a stadium and several shopping malls (like Immo Idea). The major transmission grid's substation for western Belgrade is located in Bežanija and was heavily damaged during the NATO bombing of Serbia in 1999.
The Gas and Oil House building () uses coursed stone and heavy timber, with a porte- cochere extending from the front to shelter gas pumps. The Transformer Vault and Pump House () is similar in character. The Equipment Shed/Carpenter Shop () is a stone and frame building in a saltbox shape with projecting bracketed eaves that anticipate the Mission 66 style structures on the 1950s and 1960s. The Equipment and Supply Building (), measuring by is a masonry and frame building, with a large frame extension that burned in 1965.
From its early years as a stop on the stage route across the mountains, the Scotts Valley area has provided services to travelers. With the growing popularity of the automobile in the early 20th century, the area became commercialized and tourism developed as a local industry. In the early 1920s, Edward Evers established Camp Evers at the junction of the State Highway and Mt. Hermon Road. Camp Evers consisted of a small store, gas pumps, dance hall and tents, becoming a resort and rest stop for travelers.
Baby Herman's diaper parachutes him safely to a floor while Roger ends up getting crushed by an elevator while trying to catch Herman. Eventually they end up in a room with piles of gas pumps which are ignited and send them the pair launching miles into the air. As they fall, Herman coughs up the rattle, and causes Roger to swallow it again. As they crash back into the hospital, Roger crashes through several floors before landing smack down on the receptionist floor in the hospital.
Evins incorporated Cracker Barrel in February 1970, and soon opened more locations. In the early 1970s, the firm leased land on gasoline station sites near interstate highways to build restaurants. These early locations all featured gas pumps on-site; during gasoline shortages in the mid to late 1970s, the firm began to build restaurants without pumps. Into the early 1980s, the company reduced the number of gas stations on-site, eventually phasing them out altogether as the company focused on its restaurant and gift sales revenues.
The original concept was established by Lonnie and Barbara Allsup in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1956, as Lonnie’s Drive-In Grocery. Lonnie, a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Korean War, expanded into a small chain and sold this to 7-11 in 1963. With the earnings of that sale, the Allsup family relocated to Clovis, New Mexico, and began the Allsup's convenience store chain. Allsup's is known for being the first company to introduce self- serve gas pumps.
Between 2011 and 2015, all six of the service plazas (along with the four located further north along the Wilbur Cross Parkway) were completely renovated. The renovations preserved the original brick and stone facade of the buildings, but completely redesigned and modernized the interiors. The plazas now include more modern gas pumps, Alltown convenience stores, and a Dunkin' Donuts shop at each location; three of the Merritt's six plazas also include a Subway shop. Prior to the renovations, no fast-food service had previously been available at the plazas.
Another location opened in Storrs, near the main campus of UConn, on June 6, 2014. In 2002, Price Chopper exited the convenience store business by leasing out its remaining convenience locations to Petroleum Marketing, a Getty operator. Price Chopper had attempted to enter the convenience store business during the 1980s by opening smaller stores, mostly with gas pumps but sometimes without to utilize older smaller storefronts where a larger store was not possible. They operated under the "Mini Chopper" trade name, still using the logo of an axe cutting into a coin.
It begins with a group of school children locked inside a school, screaming, "We want out!" Finally, they break through the handcuffed doors and proceed to run around the school and surrounding area, covering various symbols of authority and luxury - including a CCTV camera, a barbecue, a boat, a car, gas pumps and eventually the town hall - with red flags. As they run through the town, more people join in. Finally, they arrive at city hall where the members of Billy Talent are performing, and which has been covered with red flags.
Its MX solutions include a range of products that support these same features in self-service market segments, such as taxis, parking lots/garages, ticketing machines, vending machines, gas pumps, self-checkouts, and quick service restaurants. In 2005 Verifone released its first full color EFT-POS terminal, the MX 870. The MX 870 is capable of full screen video and is used to build applications by Verifone customers. The MX 870 is the first in the MX 800 series of Visual Payment Terminals, to compete with MX 850, MX 860 and MX 880.
By the very late 1930s, Harland Sanders' Corbin, Kentucky, gas station was so well known for its fried chicken, that Sanders decided to remove the gas pumps and build a restaurant and motel in its place. While perfecting his secret recipe with 11 herbs and spices, Sanders found that pan frying chicken was too slow, requiring 30 minutes per order. Deep frying the chicken required half the time, but produced dry, unevenly done chicken. In 1939 he found that using a pressure fryer produced tasty, moist chicken in eight or nine minutes.
New Canton never became a "boom town" but it did have considerable commerce and enterprise in the 19th and early 20th centuries. There was a tan yard, a grist mill, a tobacco warehouse, a saw mill, several bars, a hotel, several general stores and a post office. In the early 20th century, there were gas pumps, a Ford automobile dealership and an orchard as well. As motorcars became popular early in the 20th century, they too began using the bridge and the road down to the river became a highway for the ever-increasing motor vehicle traffic.
The resort has paved tree-lined roads and paved biking and golf cart trails. Other amenities include a lakefront outdoor pool and snack bar, a marina with gas pumps and convenience store, a private boat ramp and 85 boat slips. Built in 2004, the Family Fun and Fitness Center has an indoor heated pool, a racquetball court, a workout room/gym, an arcade with indoor miniature golf, a 10 lane bowling alley and a snack bar. The Club Resort also has a clubhouse, which contains a full-service restaurant, an indoor hot tub, and separate saunas for men and women.
As mentioned, ESSO petrol was a main sponsor and its distinctive oval sign appears on many Morestone models. ESSO-themed packaging was a main theme of the mid-1950s models and the boxes portrayed the name in 'portrait' style with box standing on end. Morestone's ESSO packaging is reminiscent of other companies that attempted to claim a market niche with unique box styles. Whereas Matchbox had 'Match'-boxes, Aurora had 'Cigar'-boxes, Charbens had little suitcases and Benbros had boxes that looked like TV sets, Morestone's ESSO line packaged vehicles in little boxes that looked like gas pumps (Rixon 2005, p. 39).
This patent records the essential ideas that are the basis of his commercial engine, the key one being the use of a modified slide valve to allow a flame to ignite the mixture rather than a spark. This same principle was patented by William Barnett in 1838, but Barnett used a rotating cock rather than a slide-valve mechanism. The other novel feature is the use of small quantities of water injected into the cylinder to control temperature. The engine illustrated in the patent is a vertical single cylinder double acting engine which utilises two rubber gas pumps driven by the crankshaft.
Carl F. Tychsen's Stateline Market and Carl's Place club are shown to the right of the Stateline Country Club around 1935. The Stateline Country Club, just inside the state border in what is now Stateline, Nevada, started as a small cafe. Inside, visitors enjoying the early 1930s at Lake Tahoe could find a soda fountain bar and a few tables to enjoy a meal. There was a small room in the rear where a poker game started-up most nights, and next door there was provision for vacationers at Carl F. Tychsen's Stateline Market with a pair of gas pumps nearby.
The Mount Dora Museum of Speed was located in Mount Dora, Florida in Lake County, Florida. Exhibits included American muscle cars, automobile memorabilia and an Americana collection. Opened in 2001, the 7,000-square-foot showroom was both a dealer showroom for classic cars and a museum with changing exhibits. In addition to rare cars, displays included quarter midget race cars, pedal cars, a 1940s Texaco gas station, vintage road signs, juke boxes, Coca-Cola machines, gas pumps, neon signs, electric guitars autographed by rock musicians including Aerosmith, Jon Bon Jovi and Stevie Ray Vaughan, autographed television memorabilia and more.
At the West End site, the remaining gasholder, the three brick gasholder tanks, the compressors, the compressor room/house, the receiver vessel and the governor clearly demonstrate these characteristics of the gasworks. The gasholder brick tanks illustrate major industrial use of brickwork from the 1880s up to the 1930s; and the compressors are exemplary of the change from steam powered to electric motor powered gas pumps. The place is important because of its aesthetic significance. Large round structures are unusual and have aesthetic value, particularly in areas of predominantly angular commercial and industrial construction such as West End.
The steel truss design also has greater roof height (nearly ) than the old buildings, which increases visibility for the oases. The architects for the project were Cordogan Clark & Associates. The gas stations were rebuilt with canopies to cover the gas pumps. The oases were redeveloped at no cost to the ISTHA or the Illinois taxpayers. The $95 million investment was provided by Wilton Partners of Los Angeles, California and ExxonMobil in exchange for a 25-year lease. Under the lease, Wilton would pay ISTHA a percentage of vendor sales with a minimum of $750,000 per year.

Interstate 80 Billboard, Little America, Wyoming, May 2002 The first Little America, called Little America Wyoming, is west of Green River, and west of Rock Springs on Interstate 80. Built in 1952 along the old alignment of U.S. Route 30 which was also the Lincoln Highway, the first road across America, the property began with two fuel pumps, a 24-seat café, and 12 guest rooms. Today the location has 140 rooms and expanded gas pumps for both truck drivers and travelers. For a number of years this location had the world's largest filling station based on the number of pumps in operation – 55 in all.
Gulf later built a network of pipelines and refineries in the eastern and southern United States, requiring heavy capital investment. Thus, Gulf Oil provided Mellon Bank with a secure vehicle for investing in the oil sector.Handbook of Texas: see para 1 Gulf promoted the concept of branded product sales by selling gasoline in containers and from pumps marked with a distinctive orange disc logo. A customer buying Gulf-branded gasoline could be assured of its quality and consistent standard.Gulfoil Historical Society: early Gulf gas pumps (In the early 20th century, non-branded gasoline in the United States was often contaminated or of unreliable quality).
This was the largest Roy Rogers and Bob's Big Boy location at the time and restaurant namesake Roy Rogers and Lieutenant Governor Michael Castle were in attendance for the opening. In September 2009, the Delaware Welcome Center was closed for a reconstruction project that would construct a new service plaza building, new gas pumps, new truck parking, and an improved visitor center. The renovated service plaza opened in June 2010 at a cost of $35 million. On September 17, 2018, the service plaza was renamed the Biden Welcome Center in honor of the Biden family, a prominent Delaware political family that includes longtime U.S. Senator and 47th Vice President Joe Biden.
The above-ground station is inside in the main building, between the north and south domestic terminals on the west end. The Airport station is currently the southernmost station in the MARTA system, though expansion via metro or commuter rail further south into Clayton County have been discussed. The Hartsfield–Jackson Rental Car Center, which opened December 8, 2009, houses all ten airport rental agencies with capacity for additional companies. The complex features 9,900 parking spaces split between two four-story parking decks that together cover , a customer service center, and a maintenance center featuring 140 gas pumps and 30 wash bays equipped with a water recovery system.
The fictional Gulf Oil gas station/barbecue joint seen in the 1974 cult classic horror movie, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, is located on the highway south of Bastrop at 1073 SH 304, Bastrop, TX 78602. In the movie, the establishment remains nameless but is donned with a "Coca-Cola/We Slaughter Barbecue" sign. Today, the dilapidated grocery store (and former gas station ‒ its two gas pumps as seen in the movie having since been removed) sits unused and has been closed down for several years. Before its closure, it was known as Bilbo's Texas Landmark and before that as Ryan's Hills Prairie Grocery.
Fuel dispensers are also known as bowsers (in some parts of Australia), petrol pumps (in most Commonwealth countries) or gas pumps (in North America). Besides fuel dispensers, one other significant device which is also found in filling stations and can refuel certain (compressed-air) vehicles is an air compressor, although generally these are just used to inflate car tires (tyres). Also, many filling stations incorporate a convenience store, which like most other buildings generally have electricity sockets; hence, in some cases, plug-in electric vehicles can be recharged. The convenience stores found in filling stations typically sell candy, soft drinks, snacks and, in some cases, a small selection of grocery items, such as milk.
In 1917, John opened a new store in Giscome and later built stores in Newlands and Shelley.Prince George Citizen: 15 Nov 1957 & 23 Apr 1971 He was the Willow River postmaster 1919–57, a role commonly performed by a storeowner in such towns. Clotha operated the store until 1969, installing a lunch counter to serve park visitors and passing motorists, and operating the only fuel service for the surrounding area. The c.1937 Standard Service gold and red crown gas pumps still stand today in front of the building. This paucity of capital was, in retrospect, a blessing. Little new construction followed the Great Depression, and fortuitously, no one attempted to “modernize” the venerable but aging structures at Story when the rest of the nation embarked upon a campaign to eliminate unsightly wooden floors, stamped tin metal ceilings and globe lighting and replace them with shiny asbestos floor tiles and dropped fiberboard ceilings sporting snazzy new recessed neon bulbs.
The Springfield Shopper also sells well there and it is where Principal Seymour Skinner purchases his tabloids. In the episode "Sweet Seymour Skinner's Baadasssss Song", Apu has just installed 16 new gas pumps to compete with rival convenience store, the Gas 'N Gulp. However, they, along with the Kwik-E-Mart, are destroyed due to Bart accidentally interrupting a live mortar exercise at Fort Springfield when visiting the re-enlisted Skinner, forcing the soldiers to redirect the mortar fire into the town, destroying the store and pumps off screen. The episode "Scenes from the Class Struggle in Springfield" also shows the pumps where Apu refuses to go out and serve a customer on the forecourt.

The vast majority of gas pumps with pay-at-the-pump capabilities will place a temporary hold on a certain amount of money, generally $75-$150, in a customer's account following the use of a debit or credit card to make a purchase. The pump must do this pre- authorization before allowing a customer to pump fuel to guarantee funds are available to pay for said fuel. The length of time the funds are placed on hold, and are unavailable to the customer, is totally dependent on how fast the customer's bank processes the transaction. Depending on the bank, it can take a few minutes to a few business days before the funds on hold are released.
Vince travels through the French Quarter of New Orleans, where he defeats a few enemies in his way such as a sleepy "Piggy Bank of Doom" and Reggie and Primo, two unruly gas pumps. In the square, Bones McMurty, a skeleton jazz musician, tells Vince that he can find many answers in a nearby museum, but that he will only let him in if Vince plays a song with him. After exploring some of the shops in the square and producing a trumpet, Vince does a duet with the skeleton, who lets him into the museum. Inside, the floating head of Kosmo causes a dinosaur skeleton named "The Bone Goliath" to come to life and attack Vince.
The deal included about 490 acres, including the town as well as Amboy and Route 66 landmark Roy's Motel and Café, the church, post office, three gas pumps, two dirt airstrips and other buildings in the town. Okura also plans to open a museum, much like he has with the original McDonald's location in San Bernardino, turning it into an unofficial museum. Okura reportedly got the idea of buying a town from the real estate agent who sold him his first home, who shared that he regretted not buying a town when he had the opportunity and recounts the story in his book, Albert Okura: The Chicken Man with a 50 Year Plan.
Prior to the development of the property, he turned the former gas station into a public art space. The inaugural show "Sheep Station" featured a white picket fence, grass and trees around the gas pumps, and 25 grazing concrete sheep sculptures by late artist François-Xavier Lalanne. The site has been developed into a high-end luxury condominium named The Getty Building, with Peter Marino designated as the architect for both the interior and exterior of the project. Shvo's announced in early 2014 the acquisition of eight properties located in SoHo, Manhattan, including parcels located between Varick Street, Broome Street, and Watts Street. He paid $130 million for the site, with plans of turning it into a 30-story residential tower.
Ambler's ownership was the longest of any owner during the most historically significant period; as a result, the station was known as Ambler's longer than by any other name.Boyd, Larry D. He had been hanging out at the station since he was nine and began working at the station in 1964.
Hewlett-Packard logo used from 1964 to 1979 The HP 3000 was an advanced stack-based design for a business computing server, later redesigned with RISC technology. The HP 2640 series of smart and intelligent terminals introduced forms-based interfaces to ASCII terminals, and also introduced screen labeled function keys, now commonly used on gas pumps and bank ATMs. The HP 2640 series included one of the first bit mapped graphics displays that when combined with the HP 2100 21MX F-Series microcoded Scientific Instruction Set enabled the first commercial WYSIWYG Presentation Program, BRUNO that later became the program HP-Draw on the HP 3000. Although scoffed at in the formative days of computing, HP would eventually surpass even IBM as the world's largest technology vendor, in terms of sales.
At first, the station had no electric gas pumps, and Williford and his employees had to hand pump the gas up into the glass bowl before filling each car's tank. Around 1940, the Roundtop became a Sinclair station, after Pierce Oil was purchased by the Sinclair Oil Company. Around this time, electric pumps were installed Some time in the early 1950s, Sinclair sold many of their Arkansas stations, including the Roundtop, to the Phillips Petroleum Company, and the station became a Phillips 66 branded station. Dale and his company first appeared on the History reality television series Pawn Stars, in that show's first-season episode "Time Machines," and in nine subsequent episodes in which he restored numerous decades-old items for the Harrisons (owners of the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop where Pawn Stars takes place), including vending machines, gas pumps, barber chairs, motorcycles, and jukeboxes. Though the HP250 had a different processor and operating system, it used similar interface cards to the HP300, and then later also the HP3000 models 30, 33, 40, 42, 44, and 48: HP-IB channel (GIC), Network, and serial (MUX) cards.
