In 2014, Pop presented (narrated) the BBC documentary "Burroughs at 100". William Burroughs profoundly affected Pop's writing, inspiring lyrics in the famous "Lust for Life". It was aired in the US on This American Life on January 30, 2015 in the episode "Burroughs 101", commemorating his 101st birthday.

He was born in Kristiania as the son of novelist, playwright and stage producer Hans Wiers-Jenssen (1866–1925) and author Rigmor Nicolowna Danielsen (1874-1934). Wiers-Jenssen was columnist for Aftenposten from 1917 to 1925, signing with the pseudonymes Johe and Gamin. He was manager for the cabaret Chat Noir in Oslo from 1926 to 1934, theatre director at the Nationaltheatret from 1934 to 1935, and again manager for Chat Noir from 1935 to 1951. He issued the collection Gamins epistler in 1921.

As the ship arrived, the younger boys and gamins began to shout hurrahs; 20-year- old Henrik Wergeland, who had placed himself on the castle's dike, shouted "Long live the Constitution!" The suite is in five movements, each bearing a programmatic title in French: # "Renouveau champêtre" (Renewal [i.e., Spring] in the Country) # "Gamins en plein air" (Children Outdoors) # "La vieille maison de l’enfance, au soleil couchant; Pâtre; Oiseaux migrateurs et corbeaux; Cloches vespérales" (The Old Childhood Home at Sunset; Shepherd; Migratory Birds and Crows; Vesper Bells) # "Rivière sous la lune" (River beneath the Moon) # "Danses rustiques" (Rustic Dances) The work follows a programme presenting a day-night-day sequence, as Enescu had done nearly forty years earlier in his Op. 1, Poème roumain, and would do again two years later in the suite Impressions d'enfance for violin and piano, Op. 28. Nevertheless, Enescu transforms his descriptive writing into the realm of absolute music in one of his most sophisticated orchestral compositions . Programme music, however, is rare in Enescu's output.

The painting was begun in 1860 with Degas returning to the canvas to rework the piece over the following years, though it remained unfinished upon the artist's death. X-rays taken of the work during the early 21st century have revealed that Degas changed the positioning of the youths, their faces, and even their number; this last change resulted in the strange image of the four women in the foreground having ten legs among them. Degas' revisitation of the faces of the young people is often mentioned in art criticism, as it is believed the artist changed the features of the youths from the classic handsome Greek ideal, to a more urban modernistic look. The French art historian André Lemoisne, was first to note on this fact, remarking that the subjects had a contemporary Parisian look, more akin to the "gamins of Montmartre".
