Bhusari's association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) goes back to his childhood days with the late Vilas Fadnavis. After resigning from the Professor's job, he formally volunteered to be a pracharak (full-time worker) for RSS in 1981. Since then Bhusari has been assigned to several key positions in the Vidarbha region, Western India region (Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa) and, for the last few years, as the office secretary of the RSS headquarters in Nagpur. He also worked for some time in Akola region in Vidarbha.

He left this position to become a full-time worker for the Hindu-nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, before leaving to form his own organisation, the Shiv Pratishthan Hindustan, in the late 1980s. The organisation aimed to spread the teachings of Shivaji and his son Sambhaji.

The Save American Workers Act of 2013 () is a bill that would change how the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act defines full-time worker, by raising the threshold for offering employer-provided insurance from a minimum of 30 to 40 work hours a week. Festival Welfare Services is a United Kingdom voluntary organisation established in 1972 to improve welfare services at pop festivals. Prior to formation of FWS a variety of voluntary groups were providing services at festivals which, at the instigation of Release, came together to improve their cooperation and effectiveness. Following the Windsor and Watchfield festivals the government provided funding, from 1976, for a full-time worker (Penny Mellor) to coordinate FWS activities, although the majority of work remained voluntary. Volunteers often came from a festival-sympathetic background and thus were quite relaxed with even some of the wilder events but also sometimes distrusted by the authorities.
