The Framework Convention Alliance (FCA), also called the Framework Convention Alliance for Tobacco Control, is a confederation of nearly 500 organizations from more than 100 countries which banded together to support the negotiation, ratification and implementation of the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC). The FCA was formed in 1999 when negotiations began in Geneva. At first, the organization was a loose group of nongovernmental organizations, universities and others who shared an interest in seeing a strong treaty free from interference from the tobacco industry. Today, the FCA is a nonprofit incorporated in Switzerland with a representative office in Ottawa.

William Domville (1609–1689) was a leading Irish politician and barrister of the Restoration era. Hong Kong Autonomy Movement (), sometimes Hong Kong City State Autonomous Movement (), is a movement formed in Hong Kong amidst the raising awareness about Hong Kong's constitutional rights of high autonomy, free from interference of PRC government, as stipulated in Hong Kong Basic Law Article 2 and Article 22. The Movement runs on the basis of the book (roughly translated: "Hong Kong City-State Theory") by Hong Kong scholar Chin Wan, in which Chin argues that Hong Kong possesses the characteristics of a city- state. The Movement advocates that, under the principles of the Hong Kong Basic Law and one country, two systems, Hong Kong may enjoy the right to autonomy, subject to it not advocating or suggesting an independent Hong Kong. Chin Wan is the movement's advocate and consultant.

In second half of the 13th century, Cambay (now Khambhat) was under Muslim official Shihabuddin ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya who must have been appointed under Chaulukya-Vaghela rulers.

Scholars were free from interference from or prosecution by the civil authorities and the chancellor's jurisdiction covered both civil and religious matters in the town; it was a unique position for any university in Europe.

Parliamentary privilege is however something that forms part of the law rather than putting Members of Parliament above the law – for example, these rights and immunities do not extend to crimes unrelated to their office (for example Labour MP Fiona Onasanya was jailed for lying following a speeding ticket).

The 13 May 1871 Italian Law of Guarantees, passed eight months after the capture of Rome, was an attempt to solve the problem by making the pope a subject of the Kingdom of Italy, not an independent sovereign, while guaranteeing him certain honours similar to those given to the king and the right to send and receive ambassadors. The popes—Pius IX (died 1878) and his successors Leo XIII (reigned 1878–1903), St Pius X (1903–14), Benedict XV (1914–22) and (from 1922 until the issue was resolved in 1929) Pius XI—refused to accept this unilateral decision, which, they felt, could be reversed by the same power that granted it, and which did not ensure that their decisions would be clearly seen to be free from interference by a political power. They claimed that total sovereignty was needed so that a civil government would never attempt to interfere in the governance of the universal Roman Church. Therefore, even after the Law of Guarantees, Pope Pius IX and his successors up to and including Pius XI decided not to leave the Palace of the Vatican, so as not to submit to the authority of the Italian State.
