Since most commercial sets use boards which are made from four "quadrants" which either clip together or are hinged, a 36×36 grid could be assembled from three standard sets of the same size. In Europe, there briefly appeared a TwixT knock-off called "Imuri" which used a 30×30 grid.
The slightly oval building is located directly to the north of Tiger Stadium, and its bright-white roof can be seen in many telecasts of that stadium. The arena concourse is divided into four quadrants: Pete Maravich Pass, The Walk of Champions, Heroes Hall and Midway of Memories. The quadrants highlight former LSU Tiger athletes, individual and team awards and memorabilia pertaining to the history of LSU Lady Tigers and LSU Tigers basketball teams.
The main material making up the book covers of Theodelinda is gold, which is engraved and inset with green, red and blue jewels within the central design of a large cross. The central design of the large cross divides each book cover into four quadrants which are each perfectly symmetrical. The two covers feature the same design and are almost completely identical to each other. The covers are decorated with Roman-style cameos.
"Tri-Met OKs Canby bid to break away". The Oregonian, South Zoner edition, p. B2. ;Automobile Oregon Route 99E, a north-south highway, runs generally east-west within the city, paralleling the Union Pacific mainline. The Union Pacific mainline, and Ivy St form a cross that divides the city into four quadrants: NW, NE, SE and SW. The east-west streets are generally numbered avenues, with Oregon Route 99E being SE and SW 1st Avenue.
The 1970 Atlantic hurricane season was the first season of the most recent low-activity era (“cold phase”) of tropical cyclone formation in the Atlantic. It was also the first year in which reconnaissance aircraft flew into all four quadrants of a tropical cyclone. The season officially began on June 1 and lasted until November 30. These dates conventionally delimit the period of each year when most tropical cyclones form in the Atlantic basin.
The leather covering was pierced by decorative lines of iron studs around in diameter and protruding from the face by . One surviving run of studs radiated from around the boss and was probably mirrored in all four quadrants of the shield face. Other studs were found in -long crescent positioned from the base of the shield. It was assumed that a similar group would have been positioned at the top of the shield.
A comprehensive exercise was undertaken to find a perfect location for the city. An imaginary circle of 50 km radius was drawn around Raipur and this massive area was divided into four quadrants. Each quadrant was analysed in context of regional development, existing development, climatic factors, flora and fauna, water resources, transport network etc. and the efforts yielded the present site southeast of Raipur at about 15 km distance, close to Mana Airport.
G2 Crowd also requests screenshots of the reviewer using the product for verification purposes. Information from reviews is aggregated to score business software products on The GridSM, which acts as a competitor to Gartner’s magic quadrant review model. Satisfaction and market presence ratings are generated based on product reviews and market presence data, which are then used to plot products onto a quadrant. The four quadrants in a G2 Crowd Grid are Leaders, High Performers, Contenders and Niche.
The mall is surrounded by a circular street named Paradise Village Parkway. Tatum Boulevard and Cactus Road intersect within the circle thus creating four quadrants. The Northwest quadrant consists of the original mall and its parking lot, the parking lot has a circular access road called the Paradise Valley Mall Loop. Between the parking lot and Tatum Boulevard are several restaurant buildings constructed in the 1980s, there are also restaurant buildings of the same era along Cactus Road.
The internal structure used samson posts, a kind of capped column that is normally employed in mill construction to bear heavy loads, leading to speculation that the feature echos construction in the adjacent, now destroyed Chipman's Mill. The Chipman house was also unusual in plan, divided into four quadrants with walkways between. Each quadrant was divided into at least three bins. The attic was divided in two with a center aisle, for a total of 50 bins, typically by .
A wisdom tooth or third molar is one of the three molars per quadrant of the human dentition. It is the most posterior of the three. The age at which wisdom teeth come through (erupt) is variable, but generally occurs between late teens and early twenties. Most adults have four wisdom teeth, one in each of the four quadrants, but it is possible to have none, fewer, or more, in which case the extras are called supernumerary teeth.
The British finally granted Saint Lucia its own unique coat of arms in August 1939. The escutcheon consisted of a black shield featuring two sticks of bamboo forming a cross, with two Tudor roses symbolising England and two fleurs-de-lis symbolising France occupying the four quadrants. This emblem was utilised to deface the British Blue Ensign in order to form the territory's flag. The island became part of the West Indies Federation from 1958 to 1962.
Aerial photo of Barrhill showing what appears to be the three circles of Trinity Barrhill is a small settlement between the Rakaia Barrhill Methven Road and the Rakaia River, located above sea level. It is about from the town of Rakaia and from Methven. The four outer streets, one of which is the Rakaia Barrhill Methven Road, form a trapezoid with the longest side at . Two internal roads run at right angles to one another, dividing the area into four quadrants.
City leaders have criticized the height restriction as a primary reason why the district has limited affordable housing and traffic problems caused by suburban sprawl. The district is divided into four quadrants of unequal area: Northwest (NW), Northeast (NE), Southeast (SE), and Southwest (SW). The axes bounding the quadrants radiate from the U.S. Capitol building. All road names include the quadrant abbreviation to indicate their location and house numbers generally correspond with the number of blocks away from the Capitol.
Kansas City satellite map. The larger Missouri River is zigzagging from west to east; the much smaller Kansas is approaching from the southwest and joins it at Kaw Point in Kansas City, Kansas. Downtown Kansas City, Missouri, is immediately southeast of their intersection and North Kansas City, Missouri, is to its northeast. The larger Kansas City Metropolitan Area as seen on a map can be visualized roughly as four quadrants: The southeast quadrant includes Kansas City, Missouri, and surrounding areas in Missouri.
The Maravich Center's neighbor, Tiger Stadium is known as "Death Valley". The quadrants highlight former LSU Tiger athletes, individual and team awards and memorabilia pertaining to the history of LSU basketball, gymnastics and volleyball.
100, Wits and Wagers, and You Don't Know Jack have added support for the Big Button Pads. The Big Button Pads use an external IR receiver which connects to the Xbox 360 via USB. When the IR receiver is connected all four quadrants on the 'ring of light' are lit to tell the user that four controller devices are active. These Big Button Pads can be used at the same time as the wired and wireless gamepads and the wireless headsets.
The four quadrants of a Cartesian coordinate system The axes of a two- dimensional Cartesian system divide the plane into four infinite regions, called quadrants, each bounded by two half-axes. These are often numbered from 1st to 4th and denoted by Roman numerals: I (where the signs of the (x; y) coordinates are I (+; +), II (−; +), III (−; −), and IV (+; −). When the axes are drawn according to the mathematical custom, the numbering goes counter- clockwise starting from the upper right ("northeast") quadrant.
The Q.U.A.D. Squads were the answer to the question. Living up to their name, which stands for Quick Uniformed Attack on Drugs, in late 1989 the city was divided up into four quadrants and these four squads set to work defending the streets of Tampa against the onslaught of drug dealers and buyers. In 1993, the department implemented the Mobile Dispatch System or MDS. The system allowed computers to be placed in police cars for direct dispatch without tying up the radio airwaves.
Evergreen Park Elementary School District 124 operates five schools: four elementary schools (serving grades kindergarten through fifth grade) established in each of the fourquadrants” of the village, and one middle school equidistant from the elementary schools located in the heart of Evergreen Park, Illinois, in the Chicago metropolitan area. The elementary schools are Northeast, Northwest, Southeast and Southwest. All students enter Central Middle School beginning with sixth grade. The District also offers early childhood and pre-kindergarten services and programming.
Newton is divided into four quadrants: 1st Avenue divides the north and south segments of Newton, and 1st Street divides the east and west segments. Roads labeled as avenues run east and west, while roads labeled as streets run north and south. Newton's street numbering system also extends into rural Jasper County. A typical street name would appear "E 5th St S". The east or west label comes first, followed by the street, then followed by the north or south label.
In September 1965, Filipino American farm workers, organized by the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee (AWOC), initiated the Delano grape strike to protest for higher wages. Chavez and his largely Mexican American supporters voted to support them. The strike covered an area of over 400 square miles; Chavez divided the picketers among four quadrants, each with a mobile crew led by a captain. As the picketers urged those who continued to work to join them on strike, the growers sought to provoke and threaten the strikers.
The human abdomen is divided into quadrants and regions by anatomists and physicians for the purposes of study, diagnosis, and treatment. The division into four quadrants allows the localisation of pain and tenderness, scars, lumps, and other items of interest, narrowing in on which organs and tissues may be involved. The quadrants are referred to as the left lower quadrant, left upper quadrant, right upper quadrant and right lower quadrant. These terms are not used in comparative anatomy, since most other animals do not stand erect.
The course was set up with four quadrants, with each robot starting within their “home” corner. Robots had to traverse obstacles such as moats, teeter totters, tunnels and doors that covered the course in order to collect the balls they needed to score. There were three types of balls used in the competition, foam balls, wiffle balls, and golf balls. Each type has a different point value assigned to it based on how hard it is to collect and place it into the scoring bin.
The crest of the college was based on the design of the crest of St Joseph's College at Hunters Hill, Sydney. The four quadrants of the shield are filled with: the Marist Monogram, with its twelve stars, in the top left, the Southern Cross in the top right, the MCA logo in the bottom left and the lamp and book representing learning, in the bottom left. The motto traditionally displayed above the crest, (Act courageously), was adopted in 1957 and is translated from Latin.
Marie-Luise Gothein, A History of Garden Art, Diederichs, 1914, p. 148. One of the most identifiable garden designs, known as the Charbagh (or Chahār Bāgh), consists of four quadrants most commonly divided by either water channels or walkways, that took on many forms. One of these variations included sunken quadrants with planted trees filling them, so that they would be level to the viewer. Another variation is a courtyard at the center intersection, with pools built either in the courtyard or surrounding the courtyard.
The group of units of this ring consists of four quadrants determined by the axes, or ideals in this case. The identity component of this group is quadrant I. Every interval can be considered a symmetric interval around its midpoint. In a reconfiguration published in 1956 by M Warmus, the axis of "balanced intervals" [x, −x] is used along with the axis of intervals [x,x] that reduce to a point. Instead of the direct sum R \oplus R, the ring of intervals has been identifiedD.
The northern part of this route runs a few hundred feet east of the state line. From Highway 296 (Sugar Hill Road) south to 6th Street downtown, the roadway straddles the boundary line. A concentration of hotels dominates the four quadrants of the State Line Avenue–Interstate 30 (I-30) interchange, with over a dozen different lodging chains being represented at this exit. At this interchange, US 59 splits from US 71, following I-30 westward for , before heading southward on its own alignment.
His control was regarded as excellent, and he was known to throw his fastball to all four quadrants of the strikezone. Ultimately, Osborne's career was derailed by a series of severe shoulder injuries. He was limited to 225 innings from to , and he spent the entire season rehabbing his left shoulder. When Osborne started for the New York Yankees in 2004, he became the first Yankee pitcher since Babe Ruth to start for the team after not having started a game for over five years.
Visual area V2, or secondary visual cortex, also called prestriate cortex,Gazzaniga, Ivry & Mangun: Cognitive neuroscience, 2002 is the second major area in the visual cortex, and the first region within the visual association area. It receives strong feedforward connections from V1 (direct and via the pulvinar) and sends strong connections to V3, V4, and V5. It also sends strong feedback connections to V1. In terms of anatomy, V2 is split into four quadrants, a dorsal and ventral representation in the left and the right hemispheres.
The club's colors are black, gold and red in honor of the Flag of Maryland. The Bohemians crest has four quadrants. The top left quadrant features the black and gold crest of George Calvert, 1st Baron Baltimore, the bottom right quadrant features black and red stripes – a nod to Bohemian F.C. of Ireland and the other two quadrants feature a blue crab and a Black Eyed Susan, both symbols of Maryland. The quadrants are split by a cross, another homage to the flag of the state of Maryland.
The Lord-Lieutenant's Cadets from the administrative county of Greater London (as of 1965) are appointed from one of the four "quadrants" of London. The locally elected cadets are then decided on, separately, rather than county-wide, like the other counties of the United Kingdom. The current Lord Lieutenant's Cadets of Greater London assumed position on the 14th of March 2019 and will hold their position until 14 March 2020. Cadet Company Sergeant Major Junior Antonio Brito is an Army Cadet who parades at 74 Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Unit, in South East London.
During this time, aesthetic rules that govern the garden grew in importance. An example of this is the chahār bāgh (), a form of garden that attempts to emulate the Abrahamic notion of a Garden of Eden, with four rivers and four quadrants that represent the world. The design sometimes extends one axis longer than the cross-axis and may feature water channels that run through each of the four gardens and connect to a central pool. > Under the Abbasid dynasty (8th century AD), this type of garden became an > integral part of representational architecture.
As the distance between the target and the flankers' increases at a given eccentricity the ability to detect the target also improves as the eccentricity of a target is increased the more it pops out from the flankers and the more easily it is identified. Crowding is anisotropic, which means it has different values when measured in different directions. Radially positioned flankers make it harder to identify the target than tangentially positioned ones. Crowding is stronger in the upper field of the four quadrants than the lower ones.
Also with the atrium being just one of four quadrants, it's viewed as a luxuriously structured, but vacant pathway leading to the other exhibits, which is quite a shame when considering how radiant and light-filled the room is. At , the Meier building has room to display only about three percent of the museum's permanent collection. Although the building officially contains 135,000 square feet, only about is gallery space. The Meier building, now the Stent Family Wing, was termed Director Gudmund Vigtel's "crowning achievement" by his successor Michael Shapiro.
The four quadrants created by this configuration were each subdivided by a narrower subsidiary strip of iron, only one of which now survives. Each subsidiary strip was attached to the outside of the brow band from the centre of the lateral band. Here they were wide, and, while tapering towards a width of , rose at a 70° angle towards the lateral band, which they overlapped at a 50° angle just beneath the crest. The inside of the helmet was most likely originally lined with leather or cloth, since decayed.
Two acres of the formal gardens comprise the Greenhouse Gardens (designed 1917, 1920, 1931) which centers around a sunken garden divided into four quadrants, with grass lawns, border plantings, rose gardens, theme gardens, specimen trees, and boxwood hedges, as well as tea-houses, fountains, and pergolas. The other half contains the Fruit, Cut Flower, and Nicer Vegetable Garden (1921), which grows vines, vegetables, climbing roses, and espaliered fruit trees. The entire property also includes a 3/4-mile woodland trail, as well as a slightly longer perimeter trail (1.5 miles).
The name "M Street" refers to two major roads in the United States capital of Washington, D.C. Because of the Cartesian coordinate system used to name streets in Washington, the name "M Street" can be used to refer to any east- west street located twelve blocks north or south of the dome of the United States Capitol (not thirteen blocks, as there is no J Street). Thus, in all four quadrants of the city there are streets called "M Street", which are disambiguated by quadrant designations, namely, M Street NW, NE, SW, and SE.
The dikes around the Betsimitatatra rice fields of Antananarivo were expanded and raised to help ensure against famine. In the interest of strengthening the defenses of the kingdom, Andriamasinavalona divided his realm into four quadrants to be ruled by his four favorite sons. This decision had the opposite effect, however; each was interested in expanding his own realm, prompting one son to kidnap the king and hold him hostage for seven years. After the king's eventual release, he famously committed a mock human sacrifice to re-sanctify his authority.
The city ruins cover 114,000 square meters and are surrounded by large, fortified stone walls, over two meters thick and seven meters high. The rectangular city design is based on Roman city planning and architecture, with stonework and other features borrowed from the Byzantines. Two large avenues – the 20-meter-wide Cardo Maximus, running north to south, and the Decumanus Maximus, running east to west – divide the city into four quadrants. At the crossroads in the center of the city, four great tetrapylons mark the four corners of the intersection.
A long tradition of dividing the visible skies into four precedes the modern definitions of four galactic quadrants. Ancient Mesopotamian formulae spoke of "the four corners of the universe" and of "the heaven's four corners", and the Biblical Book of Jeremiah echoes this phraseology: "And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven" (Jeremiah, 49:36). Astrology too uses quadrant systems to divide up its stars of interest. And the astronomy of the location of constellations sees each of the Northern and Southern celestial hemispheres divided into four quadrants.
The , referred to as Lords of Worlds in Viz's English manga and the Kai in the English anime dub, are upper-level gods of the Dragon Ball multiverse. There are five at a time; one presiding over each of the four quadrants of the universe and the last, the , overseeing them all. The Kai reside in the heavens and are responsible for the lower-level deities who rule over individual planets. Later in the series it is revealed that Supreme Kai exist; they are themselves in charge of the Kai.
By 1999Wilber (1999) or at the latest early 2000, Don Beck was corresponding with Integral philosopher Ken Wilber about Spiral Dynamics and using a "4Q/8L" diagram combining Wilber's four quadrants with the eight known levels of Spiral Dynamics.Wilber (2000), pp. 145–146, 149, 151 Beck officially announced SDi as launching on January 1, 2002, aligning Spiral Dynamics with Integral theory and additionally citing the influence of John Petersen of the Arlington Institute and Ichak Adizes.Beck (2001) By 2006, Wilber had recolored the levels in his AQAL system, diverging from Beck's SDi.
The growth-share matrix—or BCG Matrix, as it came to be known—is a managerial tool used to visually represent a company's portfolio. It is a two-by-two matrix, which divides the dimensions of relative market share (x-axis) and market growth (y-axis) into four quadrants. Individual business are represented with circles having an area proportional to the size of the business itself.Fripp, Geoff.“Overview of the BCG Matrix” Guide to the BCG Matrix The growth-share matrix evolved as a collaborative effort of BCG employees in the period between 1968 and 1970.
The crest that was designed for the new church is a vesica piscis, an early Christian symbol that evoked an upended fish (the initials of the phrase "Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour" in Greek spell ιχθύς, icthyos, meaning "fish"). The central saltire is also the Greek letter Chi, first letter of Χριστός, Greek for "Christ". Within three of the four quadrants are the symbols of the founding churches: Presbyterianism (the burning bush), Methodism (the dove) and Congregationalism (the open Bible). In the bottom quadrant, the alpha and omega represents the ever-living God (Revelation 1:8).
At peak hours, a vehicle attempting continue through the intersection along Washington Road or to make any left turn must wait through several light cycles to complete the maneuver. Exacerbating this congestion are the business parcels located at the intersection. Until recently, all four quadrants were occupied by gas stations, adding frequently- used exit and entrance ramps to the mix of multi-directional traffic. The gas station in the southwest quadrant has been demolished, its footprint being filled in with green space; the one in the northeast quadrant is now occupied by an AT&T; telephone store.
Originally Texas Instruments made a commitment to build the Processing Elements (PEs) out of large scale integrated (LSI) circuits. Several years into the project, TI backed out and said that they could not produce the LSI chips at the contracted price. This required a complete redesign using medium scale integrated circuits, leading to large delays and greatly increasing costs. This also led to scaling the system back from four quadrants to a single quadrant, owing to the fact that the MSI version was going to be many times larger than the LSI version would have been.
Assume that the line in Hotelling’s location model is actually a street with fixed length. All consumers are identical, except they are uniformly located in four quadrants a \, , b \, , c \, , and d \, ; the halfway point between the endpoints is point o \, . Consumers face an equal transportation/time cost for reaching a firm, denoted by c \, ; they have no preferences for the firms. There are two firms in this scenario, Firm x and Firm y; each one is located at a different end of the street, is able to relocate at no cost, and sells an identical product.
Venda presented a new type of graphical nomograms, quadrangles with four quadrants that allow the representation of any experimental polycyclic processes, including mutual adaptation processes, and subsequently substantiated the possibility of their application in psychology, physiology, mathematics and other sciences. The variant of the quadrigram structure is shown in Fig. 4. The places of particular models in quadrants and the direction of transitions can vary depending on the research tasks, the features of the environment, and the system. An example of constructing the dynamics of a medium system on a quadrigram is shown in Fig. 5.
South Hill Downtown Minot is located in the Souris River Valley between North Hill and South Hill along US Route 83. The neighborhood is roughly bound by Fifth Avenue South to the south, Fifth Street Southwest to the west, CP's railroad tracks to the north and Front Street to the east.Minot Central Business District Map , accessed from the City of Minot's website February 5, 2013 The major streets through downtown include Broadway (formerly Second Street West), the Burdick Expressway (Business US 2/52), Main Street and Central Avenue. Main Street and Central Avenue divide the city's street into four quadrants.
House of Representatives Garden as viewed from the Members Gate Originally, the rear courtyards of the building were open to the gardens through a colonnade, Murdoch's intention being that members and Senators should be able to use the gardens as an integral part of the building. Later this intention was lost, as extensions were added to the back part of the building to provide more offices. They are enclosed by hedges and were planted with trees. In both cases they were divided into four quadrants, with two being occupied by rose gardens and the remaining two by recreational facilities.
The community was built in four quadrants. The church was then re-opened as the Munster branch of the Ottawa Public Library. After the amalgamation into the City of Ottawa, some in Munster, as a rural suburb of the city, remain opposed to the amalgamation - refer to Carleton County, Ontario for more information. Munster has a restaurant,Danbys Bar & Grill, Munster United Church, Loyal Orange Lodge # 917 (warrant issued in 1875), Ladies Orange Benevolent Association # 164, Apprentice Boys of Derry - No Surrender Club - Ottawa Branch and is the site of Saunders Farm, which has outdoor mazes and a Halloween theme park.
Within these four points of reference, the Kogi have associated the orientation of their religious framework into South/East as good/light and North/West as evil/dark. This cosmic structure has influenced four entrances to each village, four principal clans, and has divided the Sierra Nevada into four sections. Following this concept, the Kogi have structured the ceremonial houses and sacred offering sites into four quadrants. In the ceremonial house, a line is drawn down the middle of a circle, which divides the men into a left side where men “know more”, and a complementary right side of men who “know less”.
A compass star inlaid in the floor marks the point at which Washington, D.C. is divided into its four quadrants and is the basis for how addresses in Washington, D.C., are designated (NE, NW, SE, or SW). Within the Crypt is Gutzon Borglum's massive Abraham Lincoln Bust. The sculptor had a fascination with large-scale art and themes of heroic nationalism, and carved the piece from a six-ton block of marble. Borglum carved the bust in 1908, and it was donated to the Congress by Eugene Meyer, Jr., and accepted by the Joint Committee on the Library, in the same year.
Just as Bales was determined to identify the basic types of interactions involved in groups, Joseph E. McGrath was determined to identify the various goal-related activities that are regularly displayed by groups. McGrath contributed greatly to the understanding of group dynamics through the development of his circumplex model of group tasks. As intended, McGrath's model effectively organizes all group-related activities by distinguishing between four basic group goals. These goals are referred to as the circumplex model of group task's four quadrants, which are categorized based on the dominant performance process involved in a group's task of interest.
Division Street plays a major role in Spokane's street grid and house numbering system, which was established by the Spokane City Council in the early 1890s. Ordinance A121, which set the system that Spokane still uses to this day, was passed by Spokane City Council on November 4, 1891. The ordinance identified Division Street along with Sprague Avenue, another major arterial in Spokane, as meridians to split the city up into four quadrants, referred to as the Northeast, Southeast, Northwest, and Southwest Divisions in the ordinance's language. Division Street establishes the numbering system for roads running in the east—west direction.
The summit was hosted by British Prime Minister David Cameron. Attendees included Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, US President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President François Hollande, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy. US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, walking in the grounds of the Celtic Manor Resort There were another 180 VIPs, and 4,000 delegates and officials from approximately 60 countries. The official logo for the summit included a panel with four quadrants, each bearing a stylised symbol of Newport or Wales: a Celtic knot, the Welsh Dragon, Newport Transporter Bridge and a Welsh castle.

The historic American Colonial-Georgian shopping center, which was largely influenced by European town squares, was built between 1927 and 1929 by the Van Sweringen brothers. Several pieces were added to the four quadrants - likely in the 1950s. Nearby, along Van Aken Boulevard but essentially an appendage to the Square, a commercial strip was built in 1939. The two brothers, who also developed much of the land to the east the neighborhood as the planned community of Shaker Heights, envisioned Shaker Square as its gateway between the urban and suburban living spaces represented in the early 20th century.
In the 1930s, two large wooden pergolas over the drive at each end of the house and four smaller pergolas in the rose garden were erected, and the rose garden was divided into the four quadrants that now define it. In 1938, the drive was constructed from the front gate to the water tower, and jacarandas and shrubs were planted along both sides. In the 1950s and 1960s the Russells developed agriculture (especially wheat) in conjunction with livestock at Jimbour, and new facilities were constructed such as stores, grain silos, feedlots and piggeries. Work on the early buildings and the garden also continued.
San Francisco from the Presidio, 1966 San Francisco, in the US state of California, has both major, well-known neighborhoods and districts as well as smaller, specific subsections and developments. While there is considerable fluidity among the sources, one guidebook identifies five major districts, corresponding to the four quadrants plus a south central district. These five broad districts, counterclockwise are: Central/downtown, Richmond, Sunset, Upper Market and beyond (south central) and Bernal Heights/Bayview and beyond (southeast). Within each of these five districts are located major neighborhoods, and again there is considerable fluidity seen in the sources.
There were originally five Supreme Kai in the Seventh Universe, and much like the Kai, four of them ruled over each of the four quadrants of the universe and a fifth, the , ruled over them in turn. Prior to the events depicted in Dragon Ball, all but one met their fate at the hands of Majin Buu. The Dai Supreme Kai in particular was absorbed by Buu, who then takes a chubby form with an uncanny resemblance to the deity. The Dai Supreme Kai's spirit would continue to manifest within Buu, his benign influence dulling the creature's destructive nature to an extent.
The Xbox 360 controller has a guide button in the center of its face that provides a new functionality. This button is surrounded by a ring of lights divided into four quadrants that provide gamers with different types of information during game play. For instance, during a split screen multiplayer match, a particular quadrant will light up to indicate to a player which part of the screen they are playing on at that time. In this case, when the user pushes the button, they access the Xbox guide; a menu which provides access to features like messaging friends, downloading content, voice chat and customizing soundtracks, while staying in the game.
As far back as Neolithic times, the Chinese identified the four quadrants of the sky with animals: Azure Dragon of the East, Vermillion Bird of the South, White Tiger of the West, and Black Tortoise of the North. Each of these Four Symbols (Chinese constellation) was associated with a constellation that was visible in the relevant season: the dragon in the spring, the bird in the summer, etc. Since these four animals—birds, dragons, snakes and tigers—predominate the finds at Sanxingdui, the bronzes could represent the universe. It is unclear whether they formed part of ritual events designed to communicate with the spirits of the universe (or ancestral spirits).
The most commonly used outcome measure is quality-adjusted life years (QALY). Cost–utility analysis is similar to cost- effectiveness analysis. Cost-effectiveness analyses are often visualized on a plane consisting of four quadrants, the cost represented on one axis and the effectiveness on the other axis. Cost-effectiveness analysis focuses on maximising the average level of an outcome, distributional cost-effectiveness analysis extends the core methods of CEA to incorporate concerns for the distribution of outcomes as well as their average level and make trade-offs between equity and efficiency, these more sophisticated methods are of particular interest when analysing interventions to tackle health inequality.
The stations emitted directional electromagnetic radiation at 190 to 535 kHz and 1,500 watts, into four quadrants. The radiation of one opposing quadrant pair was modulated (at an audio frequency of 1,020 Hz) with a Morse code for the letter A (· —), and the other pair with the letter N (— ·). The intersections between the quadrants defined four course lines emanating from the transmitting station, along four compass directions, where the A and N signals were of equal intensity, with their combined Morse codes merging into a steady 1,020 Hz audio tone. These course lines (also called "legs"), where only a tone could be heard, defined the airways.
In astrology, a cadent house is the last house of each quadrant of the zodiac. A quadrant begins with an Angular house, (the house in which a chart angle lies) proceeds to a Succedent house and ends with a Cadent house. There are four quadrants in an astrological chart, providing four Angular, four Succedent, and four Cadent houses. The Greeks called the cadent houses apoklima, which literally means "falling" or "decline," because the houses were seen to be falling away from the strength of the angular houses, which were considered to be most influential because of their perpendicular and oppositive relationships to the Ascendant.
Originally, La Belle was built as a kit, with the ship frames assigned to one of four quadrants and numbered sequentially so that the pieces could be assembled later. The pieces were intended to be loaded onto Le Joly for transport to North America, and then would be carried overland to the Mississippi River. At that point, La Salle's men would assemble the ship, and it would be used to carry the supplies to their final destination. At the king's urging, the expedition chose instead to sail directly to the Gulf of Mexico rather than to New France, eliminating the need for a ship to be built in the New World.
The crista itself is a circular piece that corresponds with the meridian of the celestial sphere, which has four quadrants inscribed along the edges, each starting at 0 degrees along the horizontal, and 90 degrees along the vertical. Adjacent, and locked with the crista at 23.5 degrees angle is the semis, which is a half- circle composed of two quadrants starting at 0 degrees along the vertical (relative to 23.5-degree placement) and 90 degrees at the horizontal. Finally, the last major component is the perpendicular, a free-hanging pendulum which measures the angle between the radial line of the Earth and the measured object using the semis.
Palatia's coat of arms can be found on several objects belonging to the Corps, such as stained glass windows of the corps house, beer mugs, pipes or paintings. It contains four quadrants with the motto of the coat of arms in the upper-right corner: „Sit ensis noster vindex!“ (Latin for “Let the sword be our vindicator!”). In the lower-right corner, the Corp's emblem can be found, which contains the letters “c,” “f,” “p” and “v.” Derived from these letters, Palatia's emblem mottos are “circulus fratrum Palatiae vivat” (Latin for “the circle of Pfälzer brothers lives”) or “vivat, crescat, ” (Latin for “live, grow, blossom”).
In operation the transmitter sends out signals coded "A" or "N" in each of the four quadrants around the beacon. The signals overlap on the range, providing the pilot of the aircraft an indication of his position in relation to location of the beacon. Thus, if he is heading toward the beacon he will receive an aural signal coded "A" or "N" if he is between the beam, and when he is on the beam he will receive "AN" signal. Over land areas the beacon has a range of about 300 miles, while over water areas the range is extended to about 1,000 miles.
In 1903, mining engineer and businessman Daniel M. Barringer suggested that the crater had been produced by the impact of a large iron-metallic meteorite. Barringer's company, the Standard Iron Company, staked a mining claim to the land and received a land patent signed by Theodore Roosevelt for 640 acres (one square mile, or ) around the center of the crater in 1903. The claim was divided into four quadrants coming from the center clockwise from north-west named Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. In 1906, Roosevelt authorized the establishment of a newly named Meteor, Arizona, post office (the closest post office before was away in Winslow, Arizona).
The Hexagonal-Ulam–Warburton cellular automaton (Hex-UWCA) is a 2-dimensional fractal pattern that grows on a regular grid of cells consisting of hexagons. The same growth rule for the UWCA applies and the pattern returns to a hexagon in generations n=2^k, when the first hexagon is considered as generation 1. The UWCA has two reflection lines that pass through the corners of the initial cell dividing the square into four quadrants, similarly the Hex-UWCA has three reflection lines dividing the hexagon into six sections and the growth rule follows the symmetries. Cells whose centers lie on a line of reflection symmetry are never born.
The four quadrants of a Cartesian coordinate system The axes of a two-dimensional Cartesian system divide the plane into four infinite regions, called quadrants, each bounded by two half-axes. These are often numbered from 1st to 4th and denoted by Roman numerals: I (where the signs of the two coordinates are I (+,+), II (−,+), III (−,−), and IV (+,−). When the axes are drawn according to the mathematical custom, the numbering goes counter-clockwise starting from the upper right ("north-east") quadrant. Similarly, a three- dimensional Cartesian system defines a division of space into eight regions or octants, according to the signs of the coordinates of the points.
Heider divides the main characters of Salah Asuhan into four quadrants, representing two binary opposites: Indonesian/Western, and Modern/Traditional. He classifies Hanafi and Corrie as falling into a modern/western type, with Liem best fitting the group (although poorly, owing to the emphasis on her Chineseness in the film). The parents of Hanafi and Corrie are both traditional, with Hanafi's mother matching the Indonesian/traditional and Mr DeBussee matching the Western/traditional type; he places Rapiah and her father into the Indonesian/traditional grouping, although they are not as extreme as Hanafi's mother. He notes only one character in the Indonesian/modern grouping, Corrie's landlady in Jakarta.
The United States Capitol, often called the Capitol Building, is the meeting place of the United States Congress and the seat of the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government. It is located on Capitol Hill at the eastern end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C.. Though no longer at the geographic center of the federal district, the Capitol forms the origin point for the district's street-numbering system and the district's four quadrants. The original building was completed in 1800. Although the Capitol was temporarily rendered unusable as a consequence of the 1814 burning of Washington, the building was fully restored within five years.
Since the circumplex model of group tasks is quite detailed and complex, numerous social psychological researchers have attempted to describe the model in various ways to ensure readers obtain an optimal understanding of the model. For instance, according to Straus and McGrath (1994), the four quadrants and the various task types with which they contain all relate to one another within a two-dimensional space. More specifically, Straus and McGrath (1994) state that the horizontal dimension of the circumplex model of group tasks reflects the extent to which a task entails cognitive versus behavioural performance requirements whereas the vertical dimension reflects the extent and form of interdependence among members.
The term "four corners of the world" appears in several ancient mythologies and cosmologies, wherein it roughly corresponds the four points of the compass. In most of these representations, four principal rivers run to these four corners, their water irrigating the four quadrants (or quarters) of the world. In the view of the Mesopotamian Akkadians, the term referred to four regions on the edge of the then known world; Subartu (probably corresponding to the region of Assyria) in the north, Martu (roughly corresponding to modern Syria) in the west, Elam in the east and Sumer in the south. To Naram-Sin of Akkad (r.
The colors and objects on the coat of arms carry cultural, political, and regional meanings. The Cross of St. George—which divides the shield quarterly—and the golden lion at the top represent the United Kingdom, the former colonial power that ruled over Fiji. The cacao pod held in the lion's paw, along with the sugarcane, coconut palm and bananas occupying three of the four quadrants, represent the country's natural resources, since these are key agricultural crops in Fiji. The bottom left quadrant contains a dove that symbolizes peace – this was utilized on the country's flag during the reign of King Cakobau, whose government was the last before the commencement of British rule.
To show property 2 of the tight span, consider some point x in X; we must find y in X such that f(x)+f(y)=d(x,y). But if x is in one of the four quadrants having z as apex, y can be taken as any point in the opposite quadrant, so property 2 is satisfied as well. Conversely it can be shown that every point of the tight span corresponds in this way to a point in the orthogonal convex hull of these points. However, for point sets with the Manhattan metric in higher dimensions, and for planar point sets with disconnected orthogonal hulls, the tight span differs from the orthogonal convex hull.
Over time, the seal was restyled to include a banderole emblazoned with the institution's original motto, "In the Light of the Word", derived from a passage in the Gospel of John. Its latest iteration features a wedge-top escutcheon divided into four quadrants. In addition to the religious symbols, the seal now includes a Tamaraw on the first quarter, a bovine endemic to Mindoro island, and the logo of the Society of the Divine Word below it on the third quadrant. Superimposed in the middle of the shield is the college nickname, DWCSJ, which includes "SJ" as the initials for San Jose to distinguished it from other SVD schools in the province.
Rear face The stone is a cross-slab high and wide, tapering to at the top, and is thick. The slab is carved on both faces in relief and, as it bears Pictish symbols, it falls into John Romilly Allen and Joseph Anderson's classification system as a class II stone. The cross face formerly bore a lobed cross, which has been deliberately erased, although the borders, decorated with interlaced knotwork, keywork and divergent spiral work remain. Also remaining intact are the fantastic creatures in the four quadrants surrounding the cross, including a beast with human legs dangling from its mouth, a feature that exists on other Pictish cross slabs, including the Dunfallandy Stone, as well as Irish High crosses.
Temple Terrace is currently in the process of redeveloping (the southeast quadrant) of its 1960s-era downtown. The goal of the city is to build a mixed-use, medium- density, pedestrian-oriented downtown. The city hired noted town planner Torti Gallas + Partners in 2004 to create a New Urbanist master plan and redevelopment code for the entire downtown area (four quadrants of 56th Street and Busch Boulevard), all with citizen input. The city also initiated a form- based code for its downtown, created a façade-improvement grant program, implemented a multi-modal transportation model to encourage alternatives to the automobile, and began revitalizing 56th Street with entry towers, landscaping, street furniture, placing utilities underground, and improved lighting.
The symbols of the city are the Monumento al Divino Salvador del Mundo, shield, flag, anthem, and staff of office. The first three were created as a result of a contest launched in 1943. The shield (designed by the painter José Mejía Vides) is divided into four quadrants: the two quadrants at the top right and bottom left have blue and white fields symbolizing the national flag; the top left quadrant displays a symbolic emerald necklace; and the lower right contains the bell of the Church of La Merced, representing the birth of El Salvador's independence movement in 1811, when José Matías Delgado rang the bells. The flag was designed at the request of the city government.
To further develop the SCM, Cuddy, Fiske, and Glick (2007) tested a causal model of stereotype development in each of the SCM's four quadrants, which linked social structure (environmental context) to the development of new cognitive explanations (stereotypes), which then provoke affect (emotion), and ultimately lead to action tendencies (behavior). The researchers refer to the integrated behavioral and stereotype content model framework as the behaviors from intergroup affect and stereotypes (BIAS) map. The BIAS map’s behavioral action tendencies include an active/passive spectrum and harm/facilitation spectrum. The active/passive spectrum distinguishes behaviors that are either intentionally directed at the out-group (active) or behaviors that affect the out-group but do not require noticeable effort (passive).
The Washington D.C. LDS Temple The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the District of Columbia reported 2,805 members in the District of Columbia.LDS Newsroom (Statistical Information) Also located in the district are four congregations (three wards and one branch), as of December 31, 2018. These wards are Chevy Chase (Parts of NW DC), DC 2nd Ward (NW, NE DC + parts of MD), DC 3rd Ward (Parts of NW and NE DC), Capital Hill (Parts of SW and SE DC), and Anacostia (Parts of SE DC). The Mt. Pleasant Spanish-speaking ward serves all four quadrants of DC. In addition, the DC 3rd Ward has a small French-speaking group that meets with their main congregation.
" Homestuck aims to normalize and humanize internet cultures that are usually disfavored and rejected. Trolls chat with unique typing quirks, inserting clues concerning the speaker's identity in their chat patterns. For example, Vriska, a troll with spider-like attributes, replaces the letter 'B' with the number '8' and uses emoticons with eight eyes. Troll culture features a complex system of romance, featuring four "quadrants", that was specifically designed to encourage shipping among Homestuck fans. Homestuck trolls are by default bi- or pansexual; this normalization has been described by a fan as "incredible for all the bi and gay kids out there ... seeing loads of couples that don’t think twice about how they’re dating somebody of the same gender of themselves.
Yee Nunataks () is a group of scattered nunataks, about 24 miles (38 km) long and 12 miles (19 km) wide, centered 35 miles (60 km) northeast of Lyon Nunataks in Palmer Land. The nunataks rise 1,300-1,700 m in elevation and in the four quadrants include Staack Nunatak, Olander Nunatak, Metzgar Nunatak and Triassic Nunatak. Mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy aerial photographs, 1961–68, and U.S. Landsat imagery, 1973–74. Named in 1994 by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) after Virginia Yee-Wray, cartographer and air brush specialist in the Shaded Relief and Special Maps Unit, Branch of Special Maps, USGS, who for many years prepared USGS shaded relief maps of Antarctica.
The Council of State Neurosurgical Societies is a professional body and an American surgical society created in 1976 to provide a national forum for the State Neurosurgical Societies of the United States of America. As a forum for practicing neurosurgeons, it focuses primarily on discussion, consideration, and proposals of action regarding socioeconomic issues concerning neurological surgery. The CSNS is composed of active neurosurgeons which are members of the various state neurosurgical societies in the ratio of 1 representative per 50 state society neurosurgeon members. The Presidents of the AANS and CNS appoint members/delegates to the CSNS in addition to the state designated delegates and 13 neurosurgery residents are elected as delegates from the four Quadrants with one selected from the Armed Services.
It remains a place of worship to which pilgrims come from Madagascar and elsewhere. The site has been politically important since the early 18th century, when King Andriamasinavalona (1675–1710) divided the Kingdom of Imerina into four quadrants and assigned his son Andriantsimitoviaminiandriana to govern the northeastern quadrant, Avaradrano, from its newly designated capital at Ambohimanga. The division of Imerina led to 77 years of civil war, during which time the successive rulers of Avaradrano led military campaigns to expand their territory while undertaking modifications to the defenses at Ambohimanga to better protect it against attacks. The war was ended from Ambohimanga by King Andrianampoinimerina, who successfully undertook negotiations and military campaigns that reunited Imerina under his rule by 1793.
For a short time he and the prince lived in neighboring houses at Bevato before Andriamborona and his family finally left the hill for the distant highland village of Ambatolampy, where he lived the rest of his life; the king retrieved their bodies for burial at Ambohimanga. Ambohimanga was the launching point of King Andrianampoinimerina's successful military campaign to reunify Imerina after 77 years of civil war. In 1710, Andriamasinavalona divided the Kingdom of Imerina into four quadrants, which were given to his four favorite sons to rule. Andriantsimitoviaminiandriana received the eastern quadrant, Avaradrano, and transformed his rova at Ambohimanga into its capital. As the first king of Avaradrano (1710–1730), Andriantsimitoviaminiandriana also built the site's defensive walls and its first set of seven gates.
"Northwest" (also written as NW or N.W.) is located north of the National Mall and west of North Capitol Street. It is the largest of the four quadrants of the city, both in area--it contains more than 42% of the entire city --and population--it has more than half the city's population--and it includes the central business district, Federal Triangle, The Smithsonian National Zoo, and the museums along the northern side of the National Mall, as well as such prestigious neighborhoods as Foggy Bottom, West End, Columbia Heights, Petworth, Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, LeDroit Park, Georgetown, Adams Morgan, Embassy Row, Glover Park, Tenleytown, Piney Branch, Emergy, Shepherd Park, Crestwood, Bloomingdale, and Friendship Heights. The large Rock Creek Park divides the northwest quadrant in two.
The new logo from October 2014 has a shield with four quadrants separated by a cross. The open Word of God represents the hope of the Gospel; the key represents the opportunity to open closed doors; the Southern Cross represents Australia, the land of promise; the mortar board represents academic excellence. The old school motto was "Educating for Eternity" and now is "Hope Opportunity Promise Excellence" (HOPE). The old emblem comprised a rising sun (meaning a brighter future), the Word of God as an open book (relating to Christian education), Crux (Australian heritage and the cross), skeleton key (relating to teachers finding the key for each student) and mortar board (education and graduation) with the words in a banner below "Hope, Opportunity, Promise".
As with HyperTransport, the QuickPath Architecture assumes that the processors will have integrated memory controllers, and enables a non-uniform memory access (NUMA) architecture. Each QPI comprises two 20-lane point-to-point data links, one in each direction (full duplex), with a separate clock pair in each direction, for a total of 42 signals. Each signal is a differential pair, so the total number of pins is 84. The 20 data lanes are divided onto four "quadrants" of 5 lanes each. The basic unit of transfer is the 80-bit flit, which is transferred in two clock cycles (four 20 bit transfers, two per clock.) The 80-bit flit has 8 bits for error detection, 8 bits for "link-layer header", and 64 bits for data.
Other scholars such as Walter Scheps and Isabel G. MacCaffrey have noted Middle-earth's "spatial cum moral dimensions", though not identically with Magoun's interpretation. In their view, North and West are generally good, South and East evil. That places the Shire and the elves' Grey Havens in the Northwest as certainly good, and Mordor in the Southeast as certainly Evil; Gondor in the Southwest is in their view morally ambivalent, matching the characters of both Boromir and Denethor. They observe further that the Shire's four quadrants or "Farthings" serve as a "microcosm" of the moral geography of Middle-earth as a whole: thus, the evil Black Riders appear first in the Eastfarthing, while the once good but corrupted Saruman's men arrive in the Southfarthing.
They also built the Great Northern New Orleans Railroad to New Orleans to transport their lumber and products to market. 1911 Bogalusa, the planned city by the Great Southern Lumber Company The city, designed by architect Rathbone DeBuys of New Orleans and built from the ground up in less than a year, had several hotels, schools, a hospital, a YMCA and YWCA, churches of all faiths, and houses for the mill workers. The town was laid out with the "Mill Town" on the south side and "Commercial Town" on the north side, altogether there were four quadrants with racially segregated neighborhoods defined by the railroad running north-south and Bogue Lusa Creek running east-west. It was called the "Magic City" in praise of its rapid construction.
In 1975 Tommy was adapted as a film, produced by expatriate Australian entrepreneur Robert Stigwood and directed by British auteur Ken Russell. The movie version starred Roger Daltrey as Tommy, and featured the other members of the Who, plus a supporting cast that included Ann-Margret as Tommy's mother, Oliver Reed as "the Lover", with appearances by Elton John, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, Arthur Brown, and Jack Nicholson. Russell insisted on having a known cast, though Townshend wanted people who could sing the material, and was particularly disappointed at not being allowed to cast Stevie Wonder as the Pinball Wizard. In several cinemas, the film supported a multi-track soundtrack billed as quintaphonic sound, which placed speaker banks in the four quadrants of the house and directly behind the centre of the screen.
One of the entrants in the competition was Jacques Ignace Hittorff, a German by birth, who had previously designed decorations for festivals, funerals, and the 1825 coronation of Charles X. The plan of Hittorff featured four fountains in four quadrants surrounding an equestrian statue of Louis XVI. His plan was not selected. After the 1830 July Revolution, the new King, Louis-Philippe, renamed the square Place de la Concorde and rejected the earlier project for the Place. In 1831, when the viceroy of Egypt, Mohammed Ali, gave the King the gift of an obelisk dating from the time of Ramses II from Luxor, Louis-Philippe selected Hittorff to design a setting for the obelisk in time for the 1833 July festival, intended to commemorate the anniversary of his rule.
The king then used Ambohimanga as a launching point for a successful campaign to bring the twelve sacred hills of Imerina under his rule, including the hill city of Antananarivo, thereby reuniting the four quadrants of the divided Kingdom of Imerina under his sovereignty and putting an end to 77 years of civil war. To consolidate support for his rule, Andrianampoinimerina mobilized representatives of the numerous noble castes to participate in the most extensive effort yet to expand and fortify Ambohimanga. He ordered the construction of new city walls, gates and defensive trenches, as well as a rosewood palace called Mahandrihono, which he had built in the traditional style. Following the conquest of Antananarivo in 1793, Andrianampoinimerina shifted the political capital of Imerina from Ambohimanga to its original site at Antananarivo, while pronouncing Ambohimanga the kingdom's spiritual capital.
I-66 in Washington, D.C. City streets in the District of Columbia are organized primarily in a grid-like fashion with its origin at the United States Capitol, with diagonal streets running across this grid, as well as circles—a plan laid out by Pierre L'Enfant and revised by Andrew Ellicott and Joseph Ellicott. The north–south roads are primarily named with numbers (i.e. 1st Street, 2nd Street, etc.), while the east–west roads are primarily named with letters (beginning with A Street) or, once letters are exhausted, are named alphabetically (Adams, Bryant, Channing, etc.) Intersecting this network of streets are diagonal avenues named after each of the fifty states. Within this grid, all streets are a part of one of the four quadrants of the city — Northeast (NE), Northwest (NW), Southeast (SE), and Southwest (SW) — all centered on the Capitol Building.
The Western Female High School was founded in 1844 as one of two "twin sisters" secondary schools for young ladies in the then 15-year-old Baltimore City Public Schools system, along with the Eastern Female High School. Earlier in 1829, the first four "grammar" schools (today's elementary schools) were established by the newly organized B.C.P.S., two for boys and two for girls, one in each of the four quadrants of the smaller densely populated city that was Baltimore then. On November 1, 1844, the Western High School officially opened its doors for the first time in the old Armitage Hall located at 100 North Paca Street on the western side of downtown Baltimore, between West Fayette and Lexington Streets. In those two small rented rooms, Robert Kerr, the first principal and sole teacher, welcomed thirty-six young women.
A lemma of Brian White shows that the minimum area double bubble must be a surface of revolution. For, if not, it would be possible to find two orthogonal planes that bisect both volumes, replace surfaces in two of the four quadrants by the reflections of the surfaces in the other quadrants, and then smooth the singularities at the reflection planes, reducing the total area. Based on this lemma, Michael Hutchings was able to restrict the possible shapes of non-standard optimal double bubbles, to consist of layers of toroidal tubes.. Additionally, Hutchings showed that the number of toroids in a non-standard but minimizing double bubble could be bounded by a function of the two volumes. In particular, for two equal volumes, the only possible nonstandard double bubble consists of a single central bubble with a single toroid around its equator.
The life scripts relate to each other with the following dialogue: > Friendly Weakness - I'm not okay, you're okay Hostile Weakness - I'm not > okay, you're not okay Friendly Strength - I'm okay, you're okay Hostile > Strength - I'm okay, you're not okay A diversified and holistic guide to the four life scripts was first introduced by Dr. Leary and three of his colleagues in 1951. Leary suggested there were balanced, healthy forms of behaviour in relation to each of the life scripts and extreme, unhealthy forms of behaviour in relation to each of the scripts. 'For instance, a widely used psychological test in this country the Leary Interpersonal Analysis Grid (1957) divides the four quadrants into sixteen sub-quadrants and allows one to grade each in terms of moderate-to-excessive tendency to behave that way.' By the late 1960s psychologists such as Eric Berne, Chapters 3 and 11.
However the BBC Four logo and above slogan can be found, engraved on benches along the South Bank in London, between the London Eye and Waterloo Bridge. On 10 September 2005, the channel began showing new idents comprising a central BBC Four logo surrounded by four quadrants which show different stages of the same footage thus making for a sort of optical illusion; for example, a swimming pool where a person on an inflatable ring appears in the bottom-left corner, though ripples don't enter the remaining quarters. Although the image appears as one at the start of the ident, by the end it is clearly four separate images. In March 2019, BBC Four added several new idents inspired by "oddly satisfying videos" in tandem with the quadrants theme, originally premiering for a programme season honouring the 30th anniversary of the World Wide Web.
A stand of basic scaffolding on a house construction site, with diagonal braces to maintain its structure In engineering, a diagonal brace is a beam used to brace a rectangular structure (such as scaffolding) to withstand strong forces pushing into it; although called a diagonal, due to practical considerations diagonal braces are often not connected to the corners of the rectangle. Diagonal pliers are wire- cutting pliers defined by the cutting edges of the jaws intersects the joint rivet at an angle or "on a diagonal", hence the name. A diagonal lashing is a type of lashing used to bind spars or poles together applied so that the lashings cross over the poles at an angle. In association football, the diagonal system of control is the method referees and assistant referees use to position themselves in one of the four quadrants of the pitch.
