The road soon begins to run along the south side of Kaaterskill Creek, and NY 32A follows the stream across the nearby Ulster–Greene county line and into the hamlet of Palenville.
The Jinghe–Yining–Khorgos Railway forks off of the Northern Xinjiang Railway at Jinghe and approaches Kazakhstan from the Ili River Valley. To the north is the Mariahilfplatz and in a south-westerly direction the old Paulaner breweries. 'Kronepark' From Neudeck, the road ‘Am Nockherberg’, formerly named Ohlmüller Street, snakes up the mountainside and merges into Sankt Bonifatius Street at the top. The new brewery buildings between Reger Street in the east and Hoch Street in the west form the north-eastern part of the Nockherberg, with a rail connection to München Ost station. Hoch Street forks off Nockerberg street near the top and joins it again via the small ‘Zacherlweg’. Rockaway Beach Boulevard Rockaway Beach Boulevard, opened in 1886, was the first major east-west thoroughfare on the Rockaway Peninsula in the Borough of Queens in New York City. Passing west of Highland Falls Intermediate School, the route bends northward around a small section of the United States Military Academy at West Point. NY 218 winds through Highland Falls, leaving the downtown section of the village, entering an interchange with US 9W and Stony Lonesome Road. Stony Lonesome Road connects US 9W and NY 218 to West Point's Stony Lonesome Gate, while NY 218 merges with US 9W northbound, forming a concurrency. Now in the town of Highlands, NY 218 and US 9W wind northwest as a four-lane boulevard through the West Point Golf Course, where NY 218 forks off at an interchange that also doubles as the northern terminus of NY 293\. Now on the right-of-way ceded from NY 293, NY 218 parallels US 9W as a two-lane road running along the northwestern side of the golf course.
NY 60 is at this point a four-lane commercial arterial through the southern end of the city, passing to the west of Allen Park and soon bending to the northwest, where it forks off Foote Avenue onto NYS Arterial Highway, passing to the north of Fenton Park. NY 60 then crosses the Washington Street Bridge over West Harrison Street, the Chadakoin River, and the former Erie Railroad's Meadville Division and near the former Jamestown Diesel Shop, constructed in the early 1950s. As Washington Street, NY 60 continues into the business district of downtown Jamestown NY 60 northbound continues through downtown Jamestown, now known as Washington Street, approaching NY 394as a four-lane local street heading northward through the city for 3 blocks. At the intersection with West Fifth Street, NY 60 turns eastward onto the street, forming a concurrency with NY 394 until North Main Street, where NY 60 turns left off of NY 394 east.
The road begins to head more to the north after passing it and Rye Golf Club, to its intersection with Playland Parkway, which leads to the popular amusement park, Rye's other National Historic Landmark. One mile past this junction, US 1 crosses downtown Rye, where NY 120 forks off to the north at Purchase Street, and then passes through the junction that marks the eastern terminus of I-287, the Cross- Westchester Expressway, crossing it and I-95 again in the process, with access to both. Immediately afterward it enters Port Chester, its last community in New York. It curves a bit toward the east here, crossing the railroad tracks again after an industrial area, then turning left on South Main Street to follow a more northern route through the working-class city's busy downtown, where NY 120A touches at Westchester and King streets to eventually follow the New York–Connecticut border back to its parent route.
At the bottom of the section the narrowing of the channel just above a private bridge (since destroyed) was causing severe aggradation, possibly worsening any flooding that might occur upstream from it.. Six years after that plan was released, that lower portion of the stream saw the most serious flooding from Irene and other events. In 2014, the town's Flood Commission hired Milone & MacBroom, a New Paltz engineering firm, to evaluate various options related to the stream course between the hamlets of West Kill and Lexington. Two years later, after having run computer simulations of flood events at all frequency levels up to 500-year, the firm concluded that the only option which provided benefit worth the cost was to replace the lowest bridge over the West Kill on Route 42, just below where Loucks Road forks off to the west. Milone & MacBroom explained that the former bridge, due to both the 45-degree angle at which it crossed the West Kill and its height over the stream, constricted the stream flow during 100-year floods.
After the bridge, US 9 runs under I-787 for several blocks, then takes an offramp past the Albany Pump House to become Clinton Avenue. There it intersects the two routes which have paralleled US 9 up the west side of the Hudson. At Pearl Street and the Palace Theatre, it crosses NY 32 (North Pearl Street), which continues north, and US 9W (Lark Street), which ends at the junction. US 9 turns north on Henry Johnson Boulevard and widens to cross I-90 again via a flyover originally built for the canceled Mid-Crosstown Arterial, exiting the city of Albany in the process. US 9 meets ramps bound for I-787 after crossing the Dunn Memorial Bridge in Albany. Just before reaching the northern suburb of Colonie, US 9 returns to two lanes and follows Loudon Road through well-to- do residential neighborhoods past Albany Memorial Hospital and Wolferts Roost Country Club. The short NY 377 forks off to the north while US 9 trends slightly westward. A five-way intersection marks Loudonville.
