Camilleri's nickname was "Jo Jo Zep", which was derived from a traditional Maltese nickname for "Joseph", so the group was named Jo Jo Zep and His Little Helpers. The line-up included bass guitarist John Power (ex-Foreday Riders). To promote the single, Camilleri and Power formed a more permanent blues and rock music band. Power had relocated from Sydney to Melbourne to join Company Caine for an album which Wilson was producing.

Thereafter, he moved north to Port of Spain, and from 1945 to 1950, worked for the Trinidad Guardian as a reporter and for a time on its literary page. In this period, he began writing stories and descriptive pieces, mostly under a variety of pseudonyms, including Michael Wentworth, Esses, Ack-Ack, and Big Buffer.Author profile at Peepal Tree Press. In 1970, Brus joined Jeff St John & Copperwine, who had a top five Australian hit single with Teach Me How To Fly. Also in 1970, he recorded a live album with Australian blues singer Wendy Saddington, Live at Walacia. This was followed by stints with Blackfeather, Dave Miller Set, Ross Wilson, Little Sammy and The in People, Birth, Hunger, Mother Earth, The Bobby Gebert Trio, Fender Benders, Foreday Riders, Duffhead, The Healers, Phil Jones and The Unknown Blues Band. Brus then began long-term relationships as bass player with Renée Geyer and Kevin Borich.

In April 1973 Brian Bethell, Peter Knox and Dave Ovendon sacked Butler from the band and, added Tony Burkys on guitar (ex Original Battersea Heroes), they renamed themselves as Peter Knox's New Improved 69'ers. Butler responded by forming Francis Butler's Original 69'ers, where he was joined by Ray Ferguson on guitar, vocals, flute and kazoo; Peter Jarman on drums (ex United Kingdom band Flowerpot Men, Denny Laine); and Terry Stacey on bass guitar, vocals and kazoo (Wildwood, Afrika). In November John 'Ernie' McInerney (ex Foreday Riders, Company Caine) replaced Jarman on drums. According to Stacey, the two bands had somewhat diversified styles.

Frank Bennett was born as David Wray in 1959 and grew up in the Sydney suburb of Birrong (from an Aboriginal word for star) where he attended Birrong Primary and Birrong Boys High School. He played drums in his early teens. After leaving school in 1975 he found work as a store man and labourer. He started learning saxophone in 1977 and within a year began playing in various bands on the Sydney pub and club circuit from the late 1970s through to the early 1990s: the Layabouts, the Eddys, the Zarzoff Brothers, the Foreday Riders, the Allniters, Club Ska, Paris Green and Bellydance.

After Mighty Kong, he played with Cool Bananas and Aunty Jack & The Gong, the touring bands put together to back Aunty Jack Show members Grahame Bond and Rory O'Donoghue. From there he worked with many well known groups including the Barry Leef Band (1976), two spells with Kevin Borich Express (1976–77, 1979–80), the Foreday Riders, Heavy Division (where he reunited him with Smith and Hannaford) and The Renee Geyer Band (1978). Partridge now teaches at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music in Hobart. Russell Smith went on to Metropolis, followed by the re-formation of Company Caine in 1975, then Billy T, Heavy Division and Goanna (1983).
