Around 30 October 2015 anonymous posters were pinned up on the London Underground showing a geometric pattern, known as the Flower of Life, along with a note "December 4". Coldplay fans claimed that the symbol resembled the design on a T-shirt worn by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin at the Global Citizen Festival in New York. On 2 November, Coldplay posted the same piece of artwork as an animated GIF on their Twitter account, seemingly confirming that it would be the album cover and 4 December was the album's release date. Long ago, the Regis genetically modified herself to interact more easily with the scientist Zor, who came to their planet to study the Flowers of Life. In this form, she was seduced by Zor, who took from her knowledge of the Flowers' secret before abandoning her and the Invid. The Regis is devoted to the Flower of Life and its ability to transform. While willing to engage in near- merciless conflict in the short term, she views evolution as a path to move beyond slaughter in the longer term and aspires to reach a stage of evolution where the Invid might recapture the idyllic life that was once theirs.

Scholars believe that the concept of a tree of life with different spheres encompassing aspects of reality traces its origins back to Assyria in the 9th century BC. The Assyrians also assigned values and specific numbers to their deities similar to those used by the later Jewish Kabbalah. The pavilion plan, similar to the outlay of a Slavic settlement, symbolized "the flower of life" or the sun, roots of "the world tree" (a spreading oak among the Slavs) where "the life heavens" lie. Inspired by reading Drunvalo Melchizedek's 'The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life (1999), Forte became interested in incorporating geometric patterns found in nature, as well as the geometric shapes found in traditional sacred geometry. After six years, Forte opened his first tattoo studio in Oakland in 2012, and opened his second on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, Los Angeles in 2019. Forte developed a tetrahedral kite tattoo for artist Kat Von D, and tattooed actor Chris Hemsworth in Morocco, based on a design Hemsworth's daughter made while he was filming Men in Black: International in 2018. Forte additionally worked on tattoos with singer Kehlani and linebacker DeAndre Levy, and in 2018 was featured in an episode of Paramount Network's The Art of Ink, focusing on geometric designs.
