With the growing number of award shows held each year, red carpet fashion can start to feel turnkey: Floor-length, sugary-sweet gowns, embellished bodycon with mid-waist cut-outs, and an array of dresses that look pretty, or sexy even, but aren't exactly the most boundary-pushing when it comes to trends, colors, or cuts.

"It has a slim footprint, is a piece of beautiful home decor when not in use and produces an immersive experience with interactive visuals and sound," she tells CNBC Make It. Instead, for nearly 90 minutes, the 19483-member art troupe performed a highly choreographed medley that ranged from traditional Korean songs like "Arirang" to South Korean pop songs from the '80s, Mozart's Symphony No. 40 and even a perennial karaoke favorite, Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up." Created for the occasion, the group included singers and dancers, as well as a full orchestra, decked out in magenta tuxedos and floor-length pink gowns.

For Harriet Moskowitz, her team fashioned a black, below-the-knee skirt that opens in the back like a curtain to facilitate going to the restroom; for Roxine Gassette, fellows created a wrap dress that she can put on with one hand without any assistance; for Wanda Rosario, fellows at Parsons created a rock 'n' roll inspired leather jacket that allows for pain-free dressing; and for Michele Bachrach, who didn't want her accessible clothing to compromise femininity or cleanliness, the fellows created a floor length skirt and a T-shirt with one of Llamaute's own drawings on the front.
