The importance of animal rights led to Travers and his wife becoming involved in the "Zoo Check Campaign" in 1984 that evolved to their establishing the Born Free Foundation in 1991. The character of Jeremiah Collins was born in 1763, and in original series was the younger brother of Joshua Collins (Louis Edmonds) and Abigail Collins (Clarice Blackburn); also brother-in-law to Naomi Collins (Joan Bennett). Jeremiah was uncle to Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid) who intended to marry Josette du Pres (Kathryn Leigh Scott). However, Barnabas had a last minute fling on Martinique in 1795 with Josette's maid, Angelique. Josette was never wiser, even to her death.

On her second marriage, she married the Canadian businessman Charles MacCulloch and became Patricia Bredin-McCulloch, but he died on their honeymoon. She built up a herd of cows on their estate and looked after them for almost ten years before financial complications brought her cow-womanship to an end. She published some entertaining reminiscences about this period of her life in My Fling on the Farm (1989).

In 1903 Robert Barr invited him to endorse his soft drink Iron Brew, using Donald's image on the label with Donald proclaiming "I can recommend BARR's IRN BRU to all who wish to aspire to athletic fame, signed Donald Dinnie, All-round Champion Athlete of the World." Later in Donald's life he struggled financially, and in his 70s was still performing as a strongman in London. His act was to support a platform made from a large table while two Highlanders danced a "fling" on it.

In 2012, Storm worked in events involving Texas Stampede Wrestling beginning on January 28, at TSW One More Time in a successful tag team match with Apocalypse against the International Playa's Club (C-Diddy and Jared Steele). He wrestled again at TSW Spring Fling on March 31 against Mike Foxx and Action Jackson in a losing triple threat match. On April 14, Storm wrestled at TSW Knuckle Up against Mike Foxx in a (special referee Action Jackson) GWT Indy World Title match, winning against Foxx by DQ. At that same event he defeated Boink the Clown in a consecutive title defense. On June 16, at TSW Tru-Life Playaz Ball, Storm wrestled and loss to Bobby Lambert.
