It was announced that local team Renfrew Juniors will share Keanie Park Stadium with Johnstone Burgh until October 2014 as a new stadium for Renfrew will not be complete for the start of the 2014–15 season.

It refers to the practice of killing and burying evidence of any plants or animals that might be threatened or endangered." The property rights movement argues that the Endangered Species Act should be amended to compensate property owners for protecting endangered species, rather than making an endangered species a financial drain on the owners, and that the current act actually hastens the decline of some endangered species when listed by causing property owners to "shoot, shovel, and shut up" to avoid expected losses. Jim Robbins writes in Wolves Across the Border that Mon Teigen, director of the Montana Stockgrowers Association, "believes labyrinthine federal endangered species regulations may lead a few ranchers to control wolves with the three-S method".

In 1962 Louis Manganaro retired and two of his four nephews took over the grocery store and the other two the sandwich shop, Manganaro's Hero-Boy, and the businesses were separated. Sal Dell'Orto, who bought out his brother's half ownership of the grocery store, and James Dell'Orto, who bought out his brother's half ownership of the sandwich shop, fell out over rights to the "Manganaro's Hero-Boy" name, trademarked by the sandwich shop in 1969, and advertising for party sandwich telephone hotlines, which led to two separate court cases. The business' neon sign installed in the early 1930s, which became blinking in the 1960s, was turned off in 2000 so that Manganaro's Hero- Boy could not benefit from it. The grocery store was repeatedly found at fault over the hotline and was ordered to pay damages to the sandwich shop, and the financial drain plus waning popularity, some of it due to the declining neighborhood, led to the decision to sell the building and close.

To save his company, Lackawanna president Perry Shoemaker sought a merger with the Nickel Plate Road, a deal that would have created a railroad stretching more than from St. Louis, Missouri, to New York City and would have allowed the Lackawanna to retain the of double-track mainline between Buffalo and Binghamton, New York. The idea had been studied as early as 1920, when William Z. Ripley, a professor of political economics at Harvard University, reported that a merger would have benefited both railroads.

On February 10, 2001, KRON station management decided to consolidate BayTV's news departments with that of KRON, resulting in the layoffs of 17 staff members employed with the channel. On July 2, Young Broadcasting announced that BayTV would be shut down after AT&T; Broadband (which has since been sold to Comcast) informed the company that it would stop carrying the channel at the end of that month (AT&T; Broadband spokesperson Andrew Johnson stated to the San Francisco Chronicle that the channel was a "financial drain on [AT&T;]" as its viewership was insufficient to justify the heavy investments made by the partners, although now-former KRON general manager Paul "Dino" Dinovitz acknowledged BayTV turned a profit for the first time in 2001); most of BayTV's 44 remaining full-time employees were terminated. Originally slated to close on July 31, the channel ceased operations on August 30, 2001; AT&T; replaced BayTV with the Food Network, which was moved to the provider's expanded basic tier on its Bay Area systems.
