The book is based on the French comedy Le souris d'hôtel by Marcel Gerbidon and Paul ArmontDietz, Dan. The Complete Book of 1920s Broadway Musicals, p. 104–105, Rowman & Littlefield (2019) and concerns a female cat burglar in Monte Carlo given the nickname "the hotel mouse" by the local police; one of her marks falls in love with her.

A calico is not to be confused with a tortoiseshell, which has a mostly mottled coat of black/orange or grey/cream with relatively few to no white markings. However, outside North America, the calico pattern is more usually called tortoiseshell and white. In the province of Quebec, Canada, they are sometimes called chatte d'Espagne (French for '(female) cat of Spain'). Other names include brindle, tricolor cat, mike neko (三毛猫) (Japanese for 'triple fur'), and lapjeskat (Dutch for 'patches cat'); calicoes with diluted coloration have been called calimanco or clouded tiger.

The female cat, therefore, can have the orange mutant gene > on one X chromosome and the gene for a black coat on the other.

It can seriously damage the spinal cord and the nerves, causing a form of spina bifida, as well as problems with the bowels, bladder, and digestion. Very small bladders are indicative of the disease, and it is often difficult to diagnose. Death can occur quite suddenly, and some live for only 3–4 years; the oldest recorded was a female cat named Pharrah at 7 years when affected with the disease. In one report, it was shown to affect about 30% of Manx cats studied, but nearly all of those cases were rumpies, which exhibit the most extreme phenotype.

Possession of an unneutered female cat on Kiritimati is illegal, and owners need to prevent their domestic cats from running wild (such animals are usually quickly killed in traps set for this purpose). Nighttime cat hunting has made little effect on the cat population. Most modern Burmese are descendants of one female cat called Wong Mau, which was brought from Burma to America in 1930 and bred with American Siamese. From there, American and British breeders developed distinctly different Burmese breed standards, which is unusual among pedigreed domestic cats.

The scientific name Felis reyi was proposed by Louis Lavauden in 1929 who described a skin and a skull of a female cat specimen from Biguglia and considered it a new species. It was reclassified as a subspecies of the African wildcat by Reginald Innes Pocock who reviewed Felis skins in the collection of the Natural History Museum, London. Following zooarchaeologic research in Corsica, it was regarded to have been introduced to the island during the Roman Empire, likely originating from domestic cat stock. As of 2017, it is no longer considered a valid species or subspecies.

Gummibär: The Yummy Gummy Search for Santa was released in the United Kingdom on October 8, 2012, and in the United States on November 6, 2012 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. It's Gummibär's first feature-length film. Aside from the titular character, it stars Harry, a male chameleon, Vampiro, an Italian vegetarian bat, and Kala, a female cat, as they embark on a search for Santa Claus, who is reported missing on Christmas Eve. The film aired on December 1 of the same year on The CW's Vortexx Saturday morning cartoon block, which billed the airing as a "world premiere".

In 2010, she made her Seattle Opera debut creating the title role in Amelia by Daron Hagen, and also sang Nicklausse and the role of Nancy in Albert Herring at the Santa Fe Opera. She has also performed at the Boston Lyric Opera and the Wolf Trap Opera. She has also made numerous concert performances. She performed the roles of the Female Cat and the Squirrel in Ravel's L'Enfant et les sortileges at Carnegie Hall with the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Lorin Maazel, and sang the Elliott Carter song cycle In the Distances of Sleep at Tanglewood with James Levine.

Studies show that increasing the intake of food for a pregnant animal in order to help it gain weight can have negative effects. It is acknowledged that rather than increasing intake, feeding a highly energy dense food is a way to ensure that the female cat, or queen, receives adequate energy and nutrient requirements are met. It has been found that nutritional support consistent with the resting energy requirement (RER) soon after surgery or the onset of illness decreases the mortality rate and the duration of hospitalization in cats. A recovering cat needs enough energy (calories), as well as more protein and fats.

Otis always raved about Deer Isle, but could never describe exactly what it was that was so captivating. While driving to Deer Isle, Steinbeck stopped and asked for directions. When Steinbeck arrived at the house on Deer Isle where he was supposed to stay, he met a terse female cat named George and ate the best lobster he had ever tasted, fresh from the local waters.

Voiced by Katie Griffin and Barbara McCulloh Kitty and Bunny are a female cat and a rabbit who are best friends. They appeared in the episode "The Mask" where Bunny is held captive by her abusive boyfriend Mad Dog and Kitty tries to save her unintentionally getting help from Courage even though he's kept in the dark about the situation and is terrified of Kitty. Courage later rescued Bunny and defeated Mad Dog and his gang. Bunny gives Courage a kiss on the cheek and Kitty awaited Bunny at the Amtrak passenger train's rear, where they both reunited.

Butch is a black alley cat who is instantly smitten with Toodles, a female cat he sees on the balcony of her wealthy family's penthouse apartment on Park Avenue. He serenades her, but the butler sends the family's bulldog named Rover after him. A long, fast-paced chase ensues, with Rover outwitted by Butch every time, and the chase ends with the butler accidentally hitting Rover with a broom when the dog chases Butch, causing Rover to turn against the butler out of anger. With Rover and the butler out of the way, Butch makes it into the apartment to dance with his new love.

The antagonist, Crow Witch, hates the city of Venice, and she wants to drain the Venetian lagoon, but the Pet Pals, an animal team that consists of the six primary protagonists (Holly, a female cat; Moby, a dog; Top Hat, a rabbit; Diva, a female duck; Pio, a frog, and Nameless, a Canary), completely disagree with this idea. Their religions are Catholicism. As The Pet Pals want to fight back the witch's wicked plans, they cannot wait to get started in their most challenging mission to date, which involves finding Marco Polo's Code and saving Venice, even if this means putting their busy lives on hold for a while.

Instead, however, it lands the crew in a female- oriented parallel universe with another version of Red Dwarf. Rather than having a female Cat on board, however, this universe's version of Red Dwarf instead has a male humanoid Dog (played by Matthew Devitt). He is depicted as flea-ridden, and having an interest in smelling people's behinds and a fear of baths. In "Timeslides" (1989), the Cat race temporarily ceases to exist after Lister is seen travelling back in time by entering a photographic slide with mutated developing fluid to convince his younger self (played by Emile Charles) to become wealthy and successful and not join the Space Corps.

When Puss tries to steal them from the outlaws' room, a ruthless hitcat that was hired to kill him interrupts, and both fail. The hitcat turns out to be a female cat named Kitty Softpaws and is allied with Humpty Alexander Dumpty, a friendly talking egg and Puss' long-estranged childhood friend from the orphanage where he was raised. Puss tells Kitty his origin story and of his feelings of betrayal for a youthful misadventure when Humpty tricked Puss into helping commit a bank robbery in his hometown of San Ricardo; Puss has been on the run ever since. Humpty eventually convinces Puss to join them in finding the beans and retrieving the golden eggs.

Schlesinger tasked the two with creating new characters to replace the sterile Buddy, and the two created a group of anthropomorphic animals to show to Schlesinger, which included Beans, a mischievous cat, Little Kitty, a female cat and Beans' love interest, twin puppies named Ham and Ex, Oliver Owl, a stubborn, spectacled owl, and Porky, a stuttering pig. Beans and his friends made their first appearances on I Haven't Got a Hat, a Merrie Melodies animated short directed by Freleng. The Merrie Melodies series lacked continuing characters by this point. But the film served as a showcase for the new characters, that were being groomed to replace Buddy as the stars of the Looney Tunes series.

However, during a hiatus in the new X-Men project, other female cat characters like Tigra were introduced, making the Black Cat redundant. Since the creative team did not want the X-Men to have an all-male lineup, editor Roy Thomas suggested that Cockrum make his character Typhoon, originally designed as a male, into the woman of the group. Cockrum liked the idea and outfitted Typhoon with The Black Cat's costume, a cape, and a new haircut with white hair. His collaborators feared that Storm's white hair would make her look like a grandmother, but Cockrum, confident that he could consistently draw the character so that she would appear young, insisted on this aspect of her appearance.

However, in the original Russian version the order is quite fixed, it is the grandfather (dedka), the grandmother (babka), the granddaughter (vnuchca), the female-dog (zhuchka), the female-cat (koshka) and finally the female-mouse (myshka). The humour in the story is that only with the help of the weakest and smallest creature (the mouse) can the giant turnip (repka) be pulled up. The moral of this story is that of collaboration, and that if we all work together, we can do anything. The story is very popular in Russia as the names of the participants rhyme: repka (turnip) – dedka (grandfather) – babka (grandmother); vnuchka (granddaughter) – zhuchka (she-dog); koshka (she-cat) – myshka (she-mouse).

Mild sexual innuendo is a staple of British pantomime. A male cat paying a "call" on a female cat, who then serves up kittens, insinuating that the "result" of children is predicated on a male "catcall" Numerous television programs and animated films targeted at child audiences often use innuendos in attempt to entertain adolescent/adult audiences without exceeding their network's censorship policies. On The Scott Mills Show on BBC Radio 1, listeners are asked to send in clips from radio and TV with innuendos in a humorous context, a feature known as "Innuendo Bingo". Presenters and special guests fill their mouths with water and listen to the clips, and the last person to spit the water out with laughter wins the game.

In 1960, she acted in "Casos y cosas de casa" (Cases and things of the house) with Braulio Castillo and Lillian Hurst. She also acted in the soap opera "La Gata" (The (female) Cat) and became very attached to the cat on the set. She then adopted many cats and dogs, and she named each one of the animals after a famous person. Among the movies in which Moreda acted are the following: Romance en Puerto Rico (Romance in Puerto Rico) (1962), with José Miguel Agrelot, Bobby Capó and Luis Vigoreaux; Jucio contra un Angel (Judgement against an Angel) (1964), alongside Braulio Castillo and Luis Vigoreaux and Díos los Cría (God creates them) (1979) alongside Norma Candal, Gladys Rodríguez, Otilio Warrington, Esther Sandoval and director Jacobo Morales.

Manninagh KateDhu, commonly known as Peta, was the Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office of the United Kingdom government between 1964 and sometime between 1969 and 1976, and was the first female cat in that role. She became the replacement to Peter III, who had died at the age of 16 in 1964. After Peter III's death, the Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man, Sir Ronald Garvey, suggested that a Manx cat be his replacement, and sent Peta to the Cabinet. She was noted to be lazy and loud, and not toilet trained, and by 1969, some civil servants tried to remove her from Cabinet, but this did not happen, because of the suspected bad publicity that this action would incur.

The game plot follows the story line of the 2011 film of Puss in Boots: Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) is a talking cat named for his wearing boots and is a fugitive on the run from the law, looking to restore his lost honor. He learns that the outlaw couple Jack and Jill (Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris) have the magic beans he's been looking for most of his life, beans that can lead him to a giant's castle holding valuable golden goose eggs. When Puss tries to steal them from the outlaws' room, female cat Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek) interrupts, and both fail. Kitty is allied with Humpty Alexander Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis), a talking egg and Puss' long-estranged childhood friend from the orphanage where he was raised.

In Cinderella's Story, Jaq and Gus helped Cinderella to prepare for the ball and gave her support when she doubted her abilities. In Jaq's Story, Jaq, feeling useless, wishes that he were a human; Fairy Godmother grants this wish and Jaq tries to help Cinderella and the others prepare for the fair until he realizes he liked being a mouse better and returns to normal. In Anastasia's Story, they attempt to help their old nemesis Lucifer win the affections of a snobby female cat named Pom Pom (the mice's, and probably Bruno's, new nemesis) in the castle in the hopes the cats will then leave the mice alone. In Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, Gus and Jaq make their opening appearance helping the fairy godmother prepare for the prince and Cinderella's anniversary party.

The long-tailed Måns, aided by twins Bill and Bull, is a notorious bully amongst the town cats, so he tricks the naïve Peter into singing outside the home of a young female cat named Maja Gräddnos (Molly Cream-Nose). Maja's human owners hate cat howling, so Måns expects Peter to be soaked with water in his attempt to impress Maja. But Maja is attracted to the polite and kind- hearted Peter, so she invites him in to share some fish with her; thus it is Måns who ends up getting soaked with a garden hose when he tries to impress Maja himself. At the town cats' spring ball, Måns organises a competition where contestants must answer a mental arithmetic question by showing the winning number with their tails.

However, Penelope (who in this picture is actually trying to have a relationship with Pepé because all the male cats of New Orleans take her to be a skunk and run like blazes, but is appalled by his odor) had decided to make her own odor match her appearance and had locked herself in a Limburger cheese factory. Now more forceful and demanding, Penelope quickly corners the terrified Pepé, who, after smelling her new stench, wants nothing more than to escape the amorous female cat. Unfortunately, now she will not take "no" for an answer and proceeds to chase Pepé off into the distance, with no intention of letting him escape. Although Pepé usually mistakes Penelope for a female skunk, in Past Perfumance, he realizes that she is a cat when her stripe washes off.

He is a humorous character (in the sense of black humor) by some of the things he says or the original comical scenes he'll inflict, such as pretending to be a "Gangsta" and speaking fluent slang that he picked up from "Hood Movies" and going by the name LZ. He is maniacal and merciless, and most readers assume that the reason for that is that he has a mental disorder. Karl, Looshkin's hapless bachelor owner, thinks Looshkin is just lonely and needs a female cat to play with, but the traumatized Bear vehemently disagrees. Looshkin appeared in the first Bear comic, in which he had unwittingly forgotten stowing Karl's previous pet dog Marmalade in a closet to protect him from evil bats in the laundry room. As a result, a few days later, Marmalade suffocated and died head-down.

The Baron and his crow friend find the entrance to the Cat Kingdom on Earth: Five lakes forming a cat's paw. Haru is treated to a feast at the castle of the Cat Kingdom and she begins to slowly turn into a cat with tan paws, ears, nose, tail, whiskers, and for a second she gets fangs, though still mainly human, so that she will make a suitable bride for the Prince. At the feast, Baron (in disguise) dances with Haru as part of the entertainment, and reveals to her that the more she loses herself in the kingdom, the more cat-like she will become, and that she has to discover her true self. When Baron is discovered and is forced to fight the guards, he and Haru are helped by Yuki, a white female cat who works as a servant in the palace and who had tried to warn Haru to leave the Cat Kingdom before she was taken to the castle.
