One of Baji Prabhu's descendant, Ramchandra Kashinath Deshpande, was an Indian freedom fighter against the British rule, educationalist and social activist who worked in Dhule, Jalgaon, and Pune for encouraging education. He participated in the Quit India Movement during the British rule and was imprisoned for 19 months in the Kolhapur Central Jail. He was felicitated after Independence by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. For his social work he was given the title of ‘Special Executive Magistrate’ by the Maharashtra government in 1989.

Kanteerava Stadium On the morning of Sunday, 23 July 1968, the procession in Bangalore started from the Mysore Bank circle, Kempegowda Road with thousands of fans chanting "Rajkumararige Jayavaagali" ("All hail Rajkumar"). Rajkumar was accompanied by his contemporaries and popular actors like Kalyan Kumar, Narasimharaju and Balakrishna among others. Popular actresses Kalpana, Pandari Bai and Bharathi were also present. Rajkumar was then felicitated at the Kanteerava Stadium for having successfully completed 100 films as an actor by Kannada cinema's popular actor and theatre director Gubbi Veeranna conferring him the title Nata Sarvabhouma in front of thousands of fans.

He wrote seven songs for V. Shantaram's Marathi hit film Pinjra (1972), he was felicitated the V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award, among others. As songwriter, he wrote songs across genres, including romantic songs, religious- devotional songs and lavanis, which became popular in Marathi cinema. Some of his most memorable Marathi songs were written for the films Kunku Lavte Mahercha, Bijli, Don Baika Phajeeti Aika, Samna and Manaacha Mujra.
In the freedom struggle, the British government fired shots at the protesters in which Balaji Raipurkar died and several leaders like Nanaji Siras were severely injured and later on put into jail for several years. However, in 1946 they were set free by paying 2000 Rs. Nanaji Siras lived in Chandrapur along with his family and son Mohan Siras. For his contribution to the Indian Independence struggle and for his role in the overall development of Chimur, the Indian Prime Minister Shri. P. V. Narsimha Rao personally honored and publicly felicitated Udhavrao Korekar during his visit to Chimur in 1993.
