To try to prove his worth, Ian attempts to tape a confession from Jimmy, but Jimmy sees through his plan and savagely beats him. Ian begins to further withdraw and is unable to have sex with Maxine; during the time they do spend together, he becomes more paranoid about her feelings every time she mentions Carl. Carl's name is soon cleared and he attempts to make amends with Ian, but Ian isn't interested.

The first time they sleep together is cut short when Jono doesn't last long causing awkwardness between the pair, however they make-up and sleep together again to correct it. Ruby then wants their relationship to become official but Jono feels ashamed to be dating a school girl after Maddie Morrison (Scarlett Bowman) manipulates him. He them humiliates her at a party, so she dumps him. He manages to convince her to give him another chance and attempts to keep their relationship quiet, but Ruby soon finds out he fears he'll be embarrassed by his friends if they find out and breaks up with him.

As he finally begins to consider the possibility, he changes his mind at the last minute and tries to push Grampa down the stairs for his free operation. However, as Grampa clings to Homer's leg, he admits he did not really need an operation for something life-threatening, but to remove a heart-shaped tattoo engraved to Mona, as he feels ashamed of living without her. As Homer and Grampa drown their sorrows from Mona's death at a Danish bar, a Danish woman approaches Homer and they proceed to share a dance together.

Once a remarkable student comparable to Charlie, Larry graduated from college at the early age of 19. However, Fleinhardt had an addiction with card counting during his years as an undergraduate, which he feels ashamed about and has compared his discomfort during field research at a casino as being at the event horizon of a black hole; this was discussed in Double Down, an episode that focused on a gambling ring.

The blonde men (leader is voiced by Mark Hamill, the rest are voiced by William Salyers and Roger Craig Smith) are a secret cult of identical men with blonde hair, some of which wear rings that fire lasers. They are the main villains in "Bet to Be Blonde". When Mordecai and Rigby are playing video games, they make a bet that whoever loses the next game has to wear his respective game character's haircut for a week. Rigby cheats to win, but later regrets it and feels ashamed when Mordecai (wearing a blonde wig) makes friends with blonde men and joins the group, who take Rigby hostage and force him to be turned into a blonde in the end.

Mechanic and race car driver Eddie Shannon is chosen by two bank robbers to help them with a heist. The heist requires someone with his ability to "soup up" engines and drive at high speeds over treacherous roads, to avoid capture after they pull the job. To bait the driver into the dangerous scheme, one of the robbers uses his girlfriend, Barbara Mathews, to help persuade Eddie to assist with the crime-- though his share of the heist would also make it possible for him to achieve his dream of racing competitively in Europe, the money alone wouldn't be sufficient inducement. Barbara increasingly feels ashamed of leading Eddie on, and develops some feelings for him.

After the Humane Society worker leaves, Porky demands that Charlie leave, but Charlie sadly and dramatically pleads Porky not to kick him out, as he always wanted to live in the country, and not the city, while Porky finally feels ashamed of himself. Porky finally feels sorry for Charlie's traumatic experience in the city and tricks Charlie into accepting him as a pet and puts him in a "sleeping bag" (which is actually a golf bag) which he promptly shuts and, cackling evilly, sends Charlie off to Scotland in it. However, when Porky returns Charlie is there in Scottish attire complete with a bagpipe and he eventually drives Porky into accepting him as a pet with the bagpipe's annoying music. Porky promptly suggests a picnic afterwards and he decides to head to the middle of a desert to do it, planning to abandon Charlie there.

His career appears to be going nowhere; his wife Julia is a bored housewife who spends her time tending to the luxurious modern house he has designed for them, their son Martin drops out of college and has no interest in taking up his father's dream of also becoming an architect, and their daughter Christina has entered her mid-teens and her father has started staring at her maturing body in an unfatherly way. Tonya Neely is a black community organizer who lives in the high-rise public housing Leo designed several years before. Her own son committed suicide and her eldest daughter just sits at home all day, while her youngest daughter has managed to get a scholarship at a fancy school in a middle-class neighborhood where she lives with a wealthy black family, and feels ashamed of her background and even her own mother.

In the manga, she met Uzume after illicitly sneaking out of her hospital room to watch the birds in a field next to the hospital, and initially mistook Uzume, who was newly on the run from MBI and hiding in the branches of a large tree, for a "pretty bird". After their initial conversation, during which Uzume became aware that her crest was reacting to Chiho, they met several more times, becoming each time more emotionally connected, until Uzume finally asked Chiho to bond with her and Chiho joyfully agreed and became her Ashikabi. In the anime, Chiho mistakenly thought Uzume was about to commit suicide by jumping off the hospital roof and tried to stop her, causing them both to fall; Uzume saved them both, but realized that Chiho was her destined Ashikabi and allowed Chiho to "wing" her. Chiho shows deep love towards Uzume and admits this openly, with her feelings being entirely reciprocated; she deeply cares for Uzume and admits this openly, revealing that she has romantic feelings for Uzume, but feels ashamed that due to her illness she can't do anything as an Ashikabi for Uzume.
