The increasingly arbitrary Pahlavi monarch had previously meted out similar fabricated charges against other leading politicians before, a course of action which would be repeatedly resorted to against others as well after Teymourtash had been removed. A court sentenced Teymourtash on spurious charges to five years of solitary confinement and a total fine of 10,712 pounds sterling and 585,920 rials on charges of embezzlement and graft. In September, the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) demanded the immediate release of de Lima and the restoration of human rights in the Philippines. In the same month, De Lima's ally in the Senate, Risa Hontiveros, caught justice secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II drafting fabricated charges against her through text messages during a hearing on the deaths of minors caused by the Philippine Drug War. The same tactic was used by the same secretary against De Lima, which led to her arrest. On June 5, 2020, the Amnesty International called on Philippine authorities demanding for an unconditional release of Senator de Lima.

In 2017, after the assassination of Ko Ni, a prominent constitutional lawyer and Burmese Muslim, allegations emerged that Kyaw Swe had orchestrated the killing. The assistant secretary of the Home Affairs Ministry, Maung Maung Myint, issued a statement on 1 February 2017, denying the allegations as "rumors." Kyaw Swe was also named as the military officer who fabricated charges against Saffron Revolution leader U Gambira on 19 January 2016. The Human Rights Council Working Group on Arbitrary Detention confirmed in their report (Opinion No. 33/2016) that U Gambira's arrest and subsequent conviction to be Deprivation of Liberty. The deprivation of liberty of Mr. Gambira was arbitrary, being in “Contravention with Articles 10 and 13 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)”; it falls within category II of the categories applicable to the consideration of the cases submitted to the Working Group.
