The house is locally significant as one of the finest Spanish Mission style houses in West Helena.

It is a two-story wood frame I-house with a traditional central hall plan, and a kitchen ell extending to the rear (east) of the main block. The front faces west, overlooking the White River, and has a two-story porch extending across the center three bays of the five-bay facade. The interior features woodwork and hardware original to the building's c. 1848 construction.

The Davis House is a historic house at the corner of Wolf Street and Arkansas Highway 5 in Norfork, Arkansas. It is a vernacular Plain-Traditional 1-1/2 story frame structure, with a hip roof and a stuccoed foundation. It has a hip-roofed porch extending across its front, and shed-roof dormers piercing its distinctive pyramidal roof on two elevations. The house was built c.

Photometric observations of this asteroid at the Organ Mesa Observatory in Las Cruces, New Mexico during 2010 gave a lightcurve with a period of 9.9341 ± 0.0002 hours. The brightness near the deepest minimum of the light curve showed changes with phase angle, which is the result of shadows extending across surface irregularities. Several other lightcurves have also been obtained. Phocaea has also been studied by radar.

The ecoregion covers an area of , extending across portions of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Russia, and Turkey. The main Caucasus chain, known as the Greater Caucasus, run from northwest to southeast, extending from north of the Black Sea eastwards to the Caspian Sea. The Caucasus forms the traditional border between Europe and Asia. The highest point in the Caucasus is Mount Elbrus (5,642 m).

The Alaska Engineering Commission Cottage No. 23, also known as DeLong Cottage, is an historic house at 618 Christensen Drive in Anchorage, Alaska. It is a 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a gable roof and porch extending across its front. It was designed and built in 1916 by the Alaska Engineering Commission (A.E.C.), the federal government project to build the Alaska Railroad.

The costal half of the forewings is greyish brown, darkest at the fold, with two dark angular projections extending across the fold into the lighter posterior half of wing. There is a small dark brown dot in the cell and a slightly larger dot at the end of the cell. The host plant is unknown, but might be a Tamarix species.Bull. Br. Mus. nat. Hist.

297: 1–17. with the WAC extending across 14 countries in Western African, coming together in the late Precambrian and early Palaeozoic eras to form the African continent. It consists of two Archean centers juxtaposed against multiple Paleoproterozoic domains made of greenstone belts, sedimentary basins, regional granitoid- tonalite-trondhjemite-granodiorite (TTG) plutons, and large shear zones. The craton is overlain by Neoproterozoic and younger sedimentary basins.

Entephria flavicinctata, the yellow-ringed carpet, is a moth of the family Geometridae. The species was first described by Jacob Hübner in 1813. It is found in the mountainous areas of the Palearctic realm The distribution is disjunct extending across the Pyrenees, the Alps, some lower mountains (Vosges, Iceland, British Isles) and then from Norway across the Arctic to northern Russia. The wingspan is 27–39 mm.

The house is clad in unfinished clapboards. The interior has a typical center-chimney plan, with a narrow vestibule and winding stair at the front. The first floor is otherwise divided into three rooms: living room/parlor to the right, dining room to the left, and a large kitchen extending across the back. The second floor has three bedrooms, and the third has two more.

A Mr. Ferrybe supervised and managed the stone addition's construction. The 1861 stone addition's two floors consisted of two large rooms on each floor, with ceilings. The two upstairs rooms were transformed into a large ballroom, while the two downstairs rooms were used as a dining room and kitchen. The stone addition exhibits two stories of deep verandas extending across its eastern front façade.

The wood-framed 2-1/2 story two-family house was built c. 1855–56 as a rental property by either Bela Stoddard or his son George. It has a side- gable roof, with a single-story porch extending across the five-bay front facade. The walls under the porch are finished in flushboard, a Greek Revival feature, while the porch supports are Italianate in style.

Coopers Gap Wind Farm is the largest in Australia with a total generation capacity of up to and annually, 1.51 million megawatt hours of energy. The wind farm consists of 123 turbines extending across a series of ridge lines within the site. The Gray House was a historic house in rural White County, Arkansas. It was located north of Crosby and northwest of Searcy, near the junction of County Roads 758 and 46. It was a single-story wood-frame dogtrot house, with a gable roof and an integral rear ell. The east-facing front was a hip-roofed porch extending across its width, supported by square posts.

The Harris House is a historic house in rural southeastern Pulaski County, Arkansas. Built in 1856, it is one of the oldest houses in central Arkansas. It is a modest 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, built out of local hand-hewn cypress and handmade bricks. It has an open porch extending across a five-bay front facade, with gable dormers projecting from the roof above.

Latreille named the rough woodlouse Porcellio scaber in 1804, and also established the genus Porcellio (1804), the sub-order Oniscidea (1802), the order Isopoda (1817) and the class Malacostraca (1802). Latreille produced a significant body of scientific work, extending across several fields. He was described by Johan Christian Fabricius as ("the foremost entomologist of our time"), and by Jean Victoire Audouin as ("the prince of entomology").

Accessed 2013-12-23. the Maltby House had a frame structure, a stone foundation, and a shingled hip roof. Two stories tall, the house was divided into two bays on the front and three on the side. Extending across the whole width of the front was a porch with various Greek Revival details, including a large entablature under the cornice and fluted columns in the Doric order.

Mount Pleasant is a hilly suburb in the city of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. It is situated on the northern flank of Mount Keira extending across to the Illawarra escarpment and is exclusively residential. It is home to the Rhododendron Park, found on Parrish Avenue. Mount Pleasant has a small local primary school Pleasant Heights Public School which has approximately 180 enrolled students.

Its main facade has a single-story porch extending across the front. Windows are set in segmented-arch openings, with strap-metal bars set across them in a crosshatch pattern.

Kentucky Route 2048 (KY 2048) is a north-south state highway extending across eastern Louisville, Kentucky. The southern terminus of the route is at Kentucky Route 155 (Taylorsville Road) adjacent to Bowman Field. The northern terminus is at U.S. Route 60 (Frankfort Avenue). KY 2048 is named Dutchmans Lane from KY 155 to Cannons Lane, and Cannons Lane from Dutchmans Lane to US 60.

The axial sculpture consists of ten rounded ribs extending across the whorl with subequal or wider interspaces. The ribs are not shouldered and start from the suture which they undulate. The spiral sculpture consists of incised lines in the interspaces between the ribs. The brown color is situated in these grooves of which there are six or more on the body whorl, rather widely spaced;.

The house is a large and rambling structure, two stories in height. The original main block is the southernmost portion, except for a covered porch extending across its southeastern face. To the northwest of this block there are a series of ells, also mostly of 19th-century origin, one of which is in a distinctive octagon shape. The house is surrounded by terraced landscaping.

The Fregeneda–Almendra pegmatitic field is a geologic area in the Iberian Peninsula extending across the Portuguese district of Guarda and the Spanish province of Salamanca. Part of the , it is located in the western part of a narrow E–W metamorphic belt. Comprising a variety of granitic pegmatites, where some rocks are rich in lithium. The Li minerals include spodumene, petalite, lithian muscovite and montebrasite.

In 1630 the steeple was rebuilt, and a west gallery added. The church survived the Great Fire of London in 1666. As it stood in the later 18th century, the building was 54 feet long and 51 feet wide, with a small tower in the north-west corner. A clock hung from the middle of a beam extending across the road from the church.

The Bryant-Lasater House is a historic house at 770 North Main Street in Mulberry, Arkansas. It is a 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, set on a foundation of molded concrete blocks, with a shallow-pitch pyramidal roof (pierced on each side by a hip-roof dormer), and a hip-roof porch extending across the front. A rear porch has been enclosed. Built c.

London Mayor Boris Johnson approved the plan the following day. The Croydon Advertiser listed the approval as an "historic night for Croydon". North End was the home of Allders department store, opened in 1862, which later became the flagship store of a chain extending across England and Wales. The company went into administration in 2005, and the Croydon store, the last to survive, closed in 2012.

Syntrita prosalis is a moth in the family Crambidae. It was described by Herbert Druce in 1895. It is found in Panama. The forewings and hindwings are yellowish white, the former with the base and inner margin spotted with yellowish brown, a large yellowish-brown patch extending across the wing near the apex and almost to the anal angle, on the outer edge of which is a pale waved line.

A flock at Pallikaranai wetland, India The fulvous whistling duck has a very large range extending across four continents. It breeds in lowland South America from northern Argentina to Colombia and then up to the southern US and the West Indies. It is found in a broad belt across sub-Saharan Africa and down the east of the continent to South Africa and Madagascar. The Indian subcontinent is the Asian stronghold.

Modeled after the ancient Greek and Roman temples, these buildings are typically two to three stories in height. They are distinguished by a portico of four or more columns extending across the facade or by a recessed entry front by twin columns set in between an enframing wall. The Farmers National Bank at 101 E Main St is the only example of the Temple-Front building type in the District.

The Mzima Network was a data network and Internet Protocol (IP) computer network extending across the United States, Europe and Asia. The word Mzima means “alive” in the Kiswahili language. The network was started in California in 2001 by Mzima Corporation, N.A which acquired several companies with Internet networks. In 2005 the Mzima Network became the first all-10 Gigabit Ethernet backbone through a partnership with Force10 Networks.

There were three caissons, each extending across the entire width of the building site. The caissons contained air chambers, above which were placed steel foundation grillages composed of 20 I-beams, and then a series of brick piers laid atop Portland cement. Sheet piles were then driven around the three caissons to make rectangular enclosures. There was a small cellar under the building, reaching below the first floor.

Tofieldia pusilla is a flowering plant of the genus Tofieldia in the family Tofieldiaceae. It is also sometimes classified in the lily family, Liliaceae. Its common name is Scottish asphodel in Europe, and Scotch false asphodel in North America. The plant is native to northern North America and parts of Eurasia, its circumpolar distribution extending across Canada and the northern United States to Greenland, Iceland and northern Europe.

The Clark-King House is a historic house in Stone County, Arkansas, just outside the city limits of Mountain View. Located near the end of County Road 146, it is a single-story log structure with two pens, one built c. 1885 and the other c. 1889. The main (east-facing) facade has a porch extending across the front, under the gable roof that shelters the original pen.

Scott's Store is a historic commercial building located near Bridgeville, Sussex County, Delaware. It was built about 1875, and is a two-story, rectangular, frame structure in a simplified Victorian Gothic style. It sits on a brick foundation, is sheathed in weatherboard, and a gable roof. The storefront has a pair of double doors and there is the large one-story, hipped porch roof extending across the face of the building.

MacQueen's bustard (Chlamydotis macqueenii) is a large bird in the bustard family. It is native to the desert and steppe regions of Asia, east from the Sinai Peninsula extending across Kazakhstan east to Mongolia. In the 19th century, vagrants were found as far west of their range as Great Britain. Populations have decreased by 20 to 50% between 1984 and 2004 mainly due to hunting and changes in land-use.

Eupithecia ravocostaliata, the tawny eupithecia or great variegated pug, is a moth in the family Geometridae. The species was first described by Alpheus Spring Packard in 1876. It is found in northern New York and the New England states, extending across Canada from the Maritime provinces to Vancouver Island and down the west coast as far as the San Francisco Bay region. The wingspan is about 20 mm.

Canterbury is a suburb extending across south-western Sydney and the Inner West, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Canterbury is located south- west of the Sydney central business district in the City of Canterbury- Bankstown. The former City of Canterbury took its name from the suburb, however its administrative centre was located in the adjacent suburb of Campsie, which is also a large commercial centre.

The H.J. Doughtery House is a historic house on the west side of Arkansas Highway 14 in Marcella, Arkansas. Set relatively close to the road, it is a single-story wood frame dogtrot house, with a gable roof and an shed-roofed front porch extending across the east-facing front facade. It is clad in weatherboard and rests on stone piers. A fieldstone chimney rises at the northern end.

The Francis L. Gardner House is located on the west side of Gardner's Neck Road, roughly opposite Wilder Street. It is a roughly square 2-1/2 story wood-framed house, with a hip roof pierced by hip-roof dormers. It has a single-story porch extending across the front, supported by grouped columns, with a dentillated cornice and balcony rail above. A pair of brick chimneys have Tudor decoration.

The Walter Gray House is a historic house in rural southeastern Stone County, Arkansas. It is located on the Melrose Loop, about south of Arkansas Highway 14 between Locust Grove and Marcella. It is a single-story dogtrot house with an addition to its rear. It is a wood frame structure with weatherboard siding, with a hip-roof porch extending across its front facade, supported by chamfered posts.

Emu. vol. 9. 1910 The grey honeyeater is found in a range extending across the mid-west to the centre of the Australian continent, especially in the Pilbara and Murchison regions of Western Australia, and southern and central Northern Territory. It is rare to uncommon and probably sedentary with some nomadic movement.

The interior of the house is arranged in an unusual variant of the center hall plan. It has a narrow central stair, and the hall does not extend to the back of the house. Instead, the stair is flanked by parlor and living room, with a large chamber extending across the back of the main block. It retains original Federal period woodwork that is relatively modest in style.

The Sukkur Municipality was constituted in 1862. Completed in 1889, Sukkur's Lansdowne Bridge connects the Sukkur to Rohri across the Indus, and was one of the first bridges to cross the river. The bridge made the journey between Karachi and Multan easier. The bridge was built with two large pylons rather than a series of pillars extending across the river - a cutting- edge design for such an expansive span.

The corners of the building are pilastered, with an entablature that encircles the building. The front facade, facing south, has a single-story hip-roof porch extending across its width and around to the right, supported by Doric columns. The facade is four bays wide, with full-length windows on the ground floor and smaller sash windows above. There are two sash windows in the fully pedimented gable end.

The Chief Andrew Blackbird House is constructed in two connected parts, both 1-1/2 story wood frame buildings clad with white- painted wooden clapboard siding. The original 1860 section has a porch extending across the front, the entry door opens into the kitchen. The connected early 1870s section served as a post office, and has a false front above the entrance. This section still contains some of the original mailboxes.

The Judson Record House stands in the town center of Livermore Falls, on the northwest side of Church Street. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a hip roof, wooden shingle siding, and a granite foundation. The roof is pierced by gabled dormers, with the pair facing front featuring broken scrolled pediments. The front facade is symmetrical, with a single-story enclosed porch extending across its width.

To one side was a recessed entrance to the staircase leading to the upper floors. The store entrance was through wooden double doors with transom lights above. The second and third floors contained rock-faced window facings, lintels, and sills, above which were bands of sawtooth brickwork extending across the facade. On the fourth floor, more galvanized Iron trim surrounded the windows, as well as "bat-wing" and keystone trim between the windows.

The Wade-Heerwagen House is a historic house at 338 North Washington Avenue. in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It is a two-story wood frame structure, built in the 1870s in imitation of pre-Civil War houses more typical of late-18th century Virginia. The house is T-shaped, with a front section three bays wide that has a two-story porch extending across its width, and a rear ell added after the house's initial construction.

In October Icefish and Drum together sank 26,901 tons of enemy shipping in "Convoy College", code name for the area extending across the East China Sea from Luzon Strait to Formosa and the coast of China. Icefish sank a 4,000-ton cargo vessel on 23 October and on 26 October she was credited with sinking a transport of 10,000 tons. She terminated her first war patrol at Majuro, Marshall Islands, 13 November.

The former Union Church stands in the village center of Columbia Falls, on the north side of Main Street, between Addison Street and the Pleasant River. It is a tall single-story wood frame structure, with a gabled roof and a granite foundation. Its front facade is finished in matchboard, while the other sides are clapboarded. The building corners are pilastered, with an entablature extending across the top of the front and sides.

The Dorsey-Palmer House is a historic home located near Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland, United States. It was built about 1800, and is a two-story, five-bay fieldstone dwelling with a two-story, four-bay rear wing. The house features a double porch extending across the front elevation and large transoms over entrances on the front. The Dorsey-Palmer House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Cumberland Free Press was a short-lived weekly Australian newspaper published and printed in Parramatta, New South Wales, with a coverage extending across the Inner West, Western and North West regions of Sydney. The paper was first published on 22 June 1895 and ceased publication in March 1898.

The House at 712 N. Mill Street in Fayetteville, Arkansas, is a particularly fine local example of Craftsman/Bungalow style architecture. Built c. 1914, it is a 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, set on a foundation of rusticated concrete blocks. The walls are finished in novelty siding, and there is a shed-roof porch extending across most of its front, supported by slightly- tapered box columns mounted on concrete piers.

Murray Hill is a historic home located at Delhi in Delaware County, New York, United States. It was built in 1867 and is a frame building with an irregular plan in the Italian Villa style. It consists of a two-story, ell-shaped main block with lower wings extending from the south side and rear. It features a three-story tower above the main entrance with a one-story porch extending across the front.

The Merrell Tavern is located on the south side of Pleasant Street, near the western end of the roughly linear village. It is a 3-1/2 story wood frame structure, five bays wide, with a gable roof and brick sidewalls. The main facade is covered by a two-story porch extending across its full width. The porch is supported by tapered square columns on the first level, and round Doric columns on the second.

A two-story ell extends to the rear, connecting the house to a barn that is of the same vintage as the house, with an oculus window in its gable end. Extending across the ell's side is a bracketed shed-roof porch. The house was built in 1875, during North Adams' industrial boom time. Its combination of features are a locally distinctive variant of the Italianate style, which is found repeated elsewhere in the community.

The monument was funded by the Benjamin Ferguson Fund. Reliefs surrounding the base depict allegorical figures of Native Americans, explorers, Jesuit missionaries, farmers, and laborers intended to represent Illinois contributions to the nation through transportation as a railroad crossroads for passengers and freight (represented by a train extending across the arm of one of the figures), education, commerce, grain and commodities, religion and exploration, along with the "pioneering spirit" during the state's first century.

The Edward Dickinson House is a historic house at 672 East Boswell Street in Batesville, Arkansas. It is a 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a steeply pitched gable roof and Gothic Revival styling. A front-facing gable is centered on the main facade, with a Gothic-arched window at its center. The single-story porch extending across the front is supported by chamfered posts and has a jigsawn balustrade.

The Joseph M. Frank House is a historic house at 912 West Fourth Street in Little Rock, Arkansas. It is a two-story wood frame structure, with a brick veneer exterior, and asymmetrical massing typical of the Queen Anne style. It has a variety of gabled projections, recesses, and porches, as well as a projecting angled corner turret. A single-story porch extending across part of the front is supported by Colonial Revival Ionic columns.

The Fones House is a historic house at 902 West 2nd Street in Little Rock, Arkansas. It is a 2-1/2 story brick building, topped by a steeply pitched gable roof with iron cresting at the top. Windows are set in round-arch or segmented-arch openings, with decorative hoods. The front facade has a single- story porch extending across it, supported by bracketed posts, and has a balcony with a decorative railing.

Atop that is a two-story section containing a row of monumental extending across the central section of the facade. Atop the columns is a classical entablature, above which is a massive flat-topped parapet. On the interior, the older section of the courthouse contains seven courtrooms. Nearby is the former county jail, which is a six- story building, which is constructed in a similar scale, and from similar materials, as the courthouse.

Eegonos is set on the shore of Frenchman Bay, about north of Bar Harbor's center. It is a 2-1/2 story H-shaped structure, with a central block flanked by projecting sections on each side. The southeastern section has a single-story porch, supported by paired Ionic columns, extending across much of its width. The building is of masonry construction with a stucco finish, and is topped by a red tile roof.

The Alexander Wade House is located south of downtown Morgantown in the city's Chancery Hill area, just east of the junction of Prairie Avenue and Wagner Road. It is a 2-1/2 story brick building, with a dormered mansard roof. Its main facade is three bays wide, with a single-story porch extending across the front, supported by paneled square columns. Windows are set in rectangular openings, with stone sills and lintels.

Powderhorn sits on the side of the world's largest flattop mountain, the grand Mesa, allowing for views extending across the desert below. The climate at Powderhorn's high desert location— east of Grand Junction, Colorado and slightly north and east of Colorado National Monument— produces dry, powder snow. Powderhorn has a wide variety of terrain with a few long groomed runs as well as steeper tree runs and boulder fields full of jumps and cliffs.

The Hayward House is located on the north side of Colchester's central village green, on the north side of Hayward Avenue. It is a three- story wood frame structure, with a gambrel roof, a large central chimney, and a single-story porch extending across the front. The roof is pierced by three gabled dormers. The main facade is five bays wide, with a center entrance framed by pilasters and a corniced entablature.

Agrokomerc is a food company headquartered in Velika Kladuša, Bosnia and Herzegovina with former operations extending across the entire area of former Yugoslavia. The company became internationally known in the late 1980s due to a corruption scandal known as the Agrokomerc Affair. During the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Fikret Abdić, the chief executive officer of the company, used his wealth and political influence to create the state of Autonomous Province of Western Bosnia.

The Hyland Hotel, also known as the Everglenn Hotel, is a historic hotel building at 333 Evergreen Avenue in Palmer, Alaska. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure with a front-gable roof, and a glass-enclosed porch extending across its front. The building was enlarged to the rear and resided in 1953. It was one of the first buildings erected in Palmer after the town was established in 1935.

Nortrax is a subsidiary of machinery manufacturer John Deere. Nortrax sells heavy equipment, such as bulldozers and backhoes, for the construction, mining, forestry, and utility industries. Nortrax offers specialized field services for the equipment, which includes 24-hour equipment fueling, daily maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, and satellite support technology. The company is North America's main John Deere dealership group, extending across the eastern and central portions of the United States and Canada.

The Roy Harper House is a historic house in rural western White County, Arkansas. It is located about south of the hamlet of Romance, on the north side of County Road 16, west of its junction with County Road 24. It is a single-story wood box-frame structure, with a gable roof and a stone pier foundation. It has a porch extending across the front, noted for its turned posts and brackets.

It is a 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a stuccoed first floor and a clapboarded half story. It has a broad side gable roof, with a pair of large gable dormers projecting to the front. The eaves of the main roof and dormers are extended, with exposed rafter ends and large brackets in the Craftsman style. The roof extends downward to shelter a now-enclosed porch extending across the front.

The Fox Motel House was a historic house on Arkansas Highway 367 in Bald Knob, Arkansas. Located on the northwest side, near the junction with United States Route 64, it was a single-story wood frame structure with Craftsman styling. It had a porch extending across the front, with wooden posts on brick piers supporting it, and a spreading dormer projecting from the roof above. The dormer had broad eaves with exposed rafter tails.

Cat Rock Sluice of the Roanoke Navigation is a historic sluice located near Brookneal, Campbell County, Virginia. Cat Rock Sluice is at Staunton Scenic River Mile 9.85. It consists of a deep cut about 10 feet wide, blasted through the south end of a wide rock ledge and extending across the main river channel. Associated with it is a "towing wall" measuring about 6 feet thick and at least 5 feet high.

The Hope Webbing Company Mill is a historic textile mill at 999-1005 Main Street in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The three brick buildings on this are the surviving elements of what was once a larger complex, extending across Esten Avenue. The oldest portion of the main mill and the boiler house were built in 1889, with the mill growing by numerous additions through 1914. The preparing building was built in 1902 and enlarged in 1913.

Jiwani is located between Gwadar and Chabahar at the eastern end of the Gwadar Bay. The area around the bay includes an important mangrove forest extending across the international border, and is an important habitat for a wide variety of wildlife, especially the endangered olive ridley and green turtles. Plans to grant fishing concessions and offshore drilling rights are potentially a threat to the wildlife of the area. The population largely depends upon fishing.

The Pearson–Robinson House is a historic house at 1900 Marshall Street in Little Rock, Arkansas. It is a 2-1/2 story brick building, with a dormered hip roof, and a broad porch extending across the front. The porch is supported by brick piers, and has a bracketed eave. It was built in 1900 by Raleigh Pearson, and was purchased in 1903 by future United States Senator and Governor of Arkansas Joseph Taylor Robinson.

The Hillyard Cabin is a historic log cabin on Old Burr Road, northeast of Warm Springs, Arkansas. It is a single-pen log structure, with a gable roof and a fieldstone chimney. The pen is square, fashioned out of sawn logs laid without chinking. The east-facing front facade has a shed-roof porch extending across its width, with a doorway into the cabin on the right and a window on the left.

The Francis J. Child House is an historic house at 67 Kirkland Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is a two-story wood frame structure, with a mansard roof, wooden clapboard siding, and a porch extending across the main facade. The house was built in 1861, and is a distinctive Second Empire cottage with jigsaw-cut molding over its gable windows. The lower (steep) portion of the mansard roof has hexagonal tiles, and the building retains its original siding.

As Gondwana drifted away from the South Pole, the glaciers melted, leaving a vast inland sea, extending across South Africa, and neighboring regions of Gondwana. It might have had an opening to the ocean (similar to the Black Sea) but tidal effects were small. Rivers draining mountains to the north of the Karoo Sea formed large swampy deltas in which plants belonging to the Glossopteris flora flourished. This dense vegetation accumulated as peat, which eventually turned into coal.

Blue-capped Redstart (female) at Pangot, Nainital, Uttarakhand, India The blue-capped redstart (Phoenicurus coeruleocephala) is a species of bird in the family Muscicapidae. It is found in most of the Himalayas and the northern parts of the Indian Subcontinent, with its range extending across Tajikistan and Afghanistan into India, from Jammu & Kashmir eastwards across Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal, to Nepal and Bhutan, and further east to Arunachal Pradesh and adjoining regions. Its natural habitat is temperate forests.

The interior is arranged with a transverse hall plan, the hall extending across the width of the front elevation on both main levels, with two rooms to the rear. The U-shaped stairway is at the southeast corner of the hall. Hazelfield is one of the earliest examples of this plan, which was often employed in later houses that were built by the Washington family elsewhere in Jefferson County. The house rests on a stone basement.

To offset the rather austere interior, Gibbs introduced a wrought- iron chancel screen, extending across the entire width of the church, manufactured by the local iron-smith and gate-maker Robert Bakewell, but not completed until five years after the new church was opened. The England House is a historic house at 2121 Arch Street in Little Rock, Arkansas. It is a broad two-story brick building, capped by a hip roof with gabled dormers. The main facade has a porch extending across its facade, supported by large brick piers. Its basic form is reminiscent of the Prairie School of design, but the house has Classical elements, including its (now enclosed) south side porch, which is supported by large Tuscan columns.

Weldwood is located in a rural setting of southwestern Dublin, on the south side of Old Troy Road about south of Old Marlborough Road. It is a 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a gabled roof, two interior brick chimneys, and a clapboarded exterior. Its main facade is five bays wide, with a shed-roof porch extending across it, supported by round columns. Above the porch, three gabled dormers project from the main roof line.

The Sherman House is located on the north side of East Main Street in downtown Lancaster, between Broad and High Streets. It is a two- story brick building with a low-pitch hip roof and Italianate styling, with an older two-story wood-frame ell at the rear. The main facade is three bays wide, with a single-story porch extending across the front. The porch has bracketed and paneled posts, a dentil cornice, and a low balustrade.

This was the founding date of the Technikon Witwatersrand. The Witwatersrand Technical Institute underwent a series of changes: it became the Witwatersrand Technical College in 1930, the Witwatersrand College for Advanced Technical Education in 1968 and finally, the Technikon Witwatersrand in 1979. Today, it is a large and complex institution. Some 12,000 students and 1,200 staff members from all spheres of the city's multifaceted community make up a vibrant educational centre extending across the east–west axis of Johannesburg.

The Mills House is a historic house at 715 West Barraque Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. It is a 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, three bays wide, with a front gable roof, weatherboard siding, and a brick foundation. Its front has a porch extending across the front, which has turned posts, a spindlework balustrade and frieze, and jigsawn brackets. Built in 1902, it is a good local example of vernacular architecture with Folk Victorian details.

The inspection building is a 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, finished in brick veneer, with single-story garage wings extending from either side. A metal porte-cochere extending across two lanes provides shelter to vehicles as they are processed crossing the border. The building interior is divided into three sections, with a central lobby area separating service areas for immigration and customs. The building's exterior and interior features retain much of their original Colonial Revival styling.

Glencullen (Irish: Gleann Cuilinn ) is two townlands in the parish of Kiltane in County Mayo, Ireland, situated to the north of Bangor Erris, next to the parish of Kilcommon, Erris which is in the Gaeltacht area. The townlands are located in an area of blanket bog extending across some 2,108 acres (Glencullen Lower) and 2,792 acres (Glencullen Upper), so almost in total. The main Bangor - Kilcommon road runs through Glencullen. The nearest reasonably large town is Belmullet.

The ecoregion covers an area of , extending across portions of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Southeastern Indochina dry evergreen forests occupy the lower portion of the Mekong Basin, where they are intertwined with the Central Indochina dry forests. The Southern Annamites montane rain forests border the dry evergreen forests on the east, occupying the higher elevations of the Annamite Range. To the south, the Indochina mangroves lie between tropical seasonal forests and the South China Sea.

The building was heated by hot water, lighted by gas, wired for electricity, and provided with elevator service from basement to upper floor. The buildings were fire proof. The groves, lawns and spacious campus of Monticello were of unrivaled attractiveness. The “Haskell Memorial Entrance,” erected by former students in honor of the late principal, was an imposing and artistic portal and was flanked by a handsome wall extending across the front of the grounds and in length.

The Wilder-Holton House is prominently located at the northern end of Lancaster's Main Street, on the north side of the triangular junction of United States Routes 2 and 3. It is a two-story wood frame structure, covered by a hip roof and finished in wooden clapboards. It is roughly square in shape, presenting five-bay facades in two directions. The main entrance faces east, sheltered by a single-story porch extending across three bays.

The Wycough–Jones House is a historic house at 683 Water Street in Batesville, Arkansas. It is a two-story wood frame structure, with a hip roof and weatherboard siding. The front facade has a single-story porch extending across its width, and a smaller second-story porch above the main entrance, which is set in the center of three bays. The outer bays have uniquely different projecting bays on both the first and second levels.

The front section has a single-story hip-roof porch extending across its front, with chamfered square posts rising to brackets with jigsawn spandrels. Windows are set in segmented- arch openings, with headers that use alternating red and black bricks. H. D. Smith & Co. Works. Plantsville, Connecticut in 1893 The H. D. Smith & Co. was founded in 1850 by Henry D. Smith, who had invented machinery for automating the manufacture of previously handmade iron parts for carriages.

The Mary Alice Hammond House is a historic house on the southern outskirts of Searcy, Arkansas. It is located on the south side of Lee Lane (County Road 839), just west of its junction with Arkansas Highway 367. It is a single- story single-pile house with a side gable roof, and a porch extending across its front (north-facing) facade. Its front entrance is flanked by sidelight windows, and topped by a transom, with a molded hood surround.

Accessed 2013-12-02. The main entrance is located on the right side of the facade, across from the tower; deeply recessed, it is framed with sidelights and a pair of columns. Extending across the entire facade, including the base of the tower, is a veranda-style porch with Ionic columns. All of these features combine to make it one of metro Cincinnati's best examples of the Shingle variant of the Queen Anne style of architecture.

The Harry Goddard House is located northwest of downtown Worcester, at the northwest corner of Salisbury Street and Park Avenue. It is a large 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a hip roof and clapboarded exterior. Its front facade faces east toward Park Avenue, with the center section projecting slightly. The projection has rounded window bays flanking the former main entrance, which is sheltered by a single-story porch extending across the entire projecting section.

The Salem Tavern is located on the west side of South Main Street, between Blum and East Walnut Streets. It consists of two separate buildings, one brick and one wood frame. Both are 2-1/2 stories in height, and have gabled roofs. The brick building is set on a raised foundation, with a single-story shed-roof porch extending across the front, supported by square posts and accessed from the sidewalk by side-facing stairs.

Approximately in width and in length, the bridge is built atop a reinforced concrete abutment and pier. Its truss structure exhibits a double- intersection configuration, constructed of 14 bays, each measuring approximately wide and in height, with the diagonals extending across two bays each. The bridge is fabricated of wrought iron bracketed with pins. Spanning the full length of the bridge is a wooden pedestrian walkway that consists of an observation deck and wooden seating near the bridge's midspan.

Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity House, also known as Maltese Manor, is a historic fraternity house located at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. It was built in 1920, and is a 2 1/2-story, rectangular, Tudor Revival style brick and stone building. It has a truncated hipped roof, parapeted tower, and platform porch extending across the front facade. A one- story kitchen addition was built in 1940, and a three-story addition in 1963.

The May Farmstead is a historic farm property in rural eastern Newton County, Arkansas. It is located overlooking Cave Creek, off County Road 256 east of Bens Branch Church. The main house is a double-pen, one built out of logs in 1880, the other framed in 1910. The house is sheathed in weatherboard siding added after the construction of the second pen, and there is a full-width porch extending across the front (southeastern) facade.

The diameter of the coupled wheels was increased from . The hind end of the frame was redesigned and the bridle casting was removed and replaced by a frame plate, riveted to the main bar frame and carried through to the hind buffer beam. A new steel casting, extending across and over the main frame, added rigidity and served as a support for the boiler at the throat plate. A new design of drag box was installed.

The School Street duplexes stand north of downtown Bennington, on the east side of School Street at its junction with County Street. The two buildings are nearly identical two-story wood frame structures, with side gable roofs, clapboard siding, and fieldstone foundations. Their front facades are four bays wide, with entrances in the center two bays. Each has a hipped-roof single-story porch extending across the front facade, with Queen Anne style turned balustrades and posts.

It has a narrow wing stripe, extending across the median and larger wing coverts, and often a bit onto the secondary remiges. Outer tail feathers never have white tips. Recent cladistic analysis of nDNA BRM15 intron-15 and mtDNA NADH dehydrogenase subunit 2 and ATP synthase F0 subunit 6 sequence data indicates that the Ethiopian boubou is a polyphyletic cryptic species complex, which was once lumped with the tropical boubou, black boubou, and East Coast boubou.

The Wasson House is a historic house on Main Street in Springtown, Arkansas. It is a well-preserved example of an I-house, built c. 1890. It is five bays wide, with a side gable roof, and a two-story porch, supported by Tuscan columns, extending across the center three bays, with a latticework balustrade at the second level. A two-story ell extends to the rear, and there is a period brick combination well house/smoke house nearby.

The Weir is founded on a solid granite bar extending across the river. It is 82.3m (270') between abutments, and is divided into a sluiceway 12.19m (40') wide, a lock chamber 12.19m (40') wide, and a concrete weir 50.29m (165') wide. The sluiceway and lock chamber area each controlled at their upstream ends by single iron-framed sluice gates of the "Stoney" pattern manufactured by Ransomes & Rapier of Ipswich, England. The total lift of the gates is 10.67m (35').

The David L. King is a historic house at 2nd and Kelly Street in Hardy, Arkansas. It is a two-story American Foursquare structure with a hip roof, and is fashioned from locally manufactured concrete blocks. It has a hip-roofed porch extending across its front. The house was built in 1919 for David L. King, a prominent lawyer in Sharp County, and is distinctive as a rare example of residential concrete block construction in the community.

The Shearer and Corser Double House stands in a suburban residential area northwest of downtown St. Johnsbury, on the east side of Summer Street between Webster and Mt. Pleasant Streets. It is a two-story wood-frame structure, with a hip roof and clapboarded exterior. Corner pilasters rise to an entablature and cornice bracketed in the Italianate style. The main facade is six bays wide, with a two-story Colonial Revival porch extending across the center four bays.

The Erlanger House is located in the St. Louis' Forest Park area, on the north side of Waterman Boulevard, between Lake Avenue and Kingshighway Boulevard. It is an architecturally undistinguished suburban two story brick building, with a dormered hip roof. The front facade is made up of two bays wide, with a single-story porch extending across its width. A polygonal window bay projects above the main entrance and a two-story bay projects from the right side.

Part of the Waldo Patent, it was called the Lower Plantation of St. Georges, once extending across both sides of the St. George River. It was first permanently settled in 1733 with Scots and Irish immigrants recruited from Ireland by Brigadier-General Samuel Waldo, who offered for each household. Attacks during the French and Indian Wars, however, deterred habitation. A stone blockhouse known as Burton's Fort was built in 1753 by its commander, Captain Benjamin Burton.

The use of stone at Tioga Pass set a precedent for the extensive employment of stone construction in other park buildings in the Yosemite high country. Civilian Conservation Corps workers assisted in the entrance station's construction. The ranger station is a stone building, about square, set into the slope of the hillside with a porch extending across most of the front. The interior features a lobby space with a substantial stone fireplace, along with living quarters consisting of a bedroom, bath and kitchen.

Most of the windows are sash, although the south wing is set up as a solarium with large casement windows. The main entrance is on the west side of the building, sheltered by a single-story portico with Ionic columns and a railing around its top. The entry area is flanked by projecting hip-roof sections. The east side of the building, facing the bay, has a single-story porch extending across the center six bays, supported by an Ionic colonnade.

The Moore House is a historic house on Washington County Road 13 northwest of Canehill, Arkansas. It is a two-story wood-frame house, three bays wide, with a side gable roof, clapboard siding, and a shed-roof porch extending across the front. The first floor of the house was built in 1856, with the second following in 1896; a kitchen ell was added to the rear in 1893. The property also includes the remains of an early log structure, probably a granary.

The Maguire-Williams House is a historic house at 19105 Arkansas Highway 74 east of Elkins, Arkansas. It is a 1-1/2 story log and frame structure, finished in wooden clapboards, with a side gable roof. The house appears to have been built between about 1838 and 1877, and includes a frame addition to the rear and an open porch extending across the width of its front. The oldest log pen of the structure has been dated by dendrochronology to c.

The E. H. Brabrook House is an historic duplex house in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is a two-story wood frame structure, six bays wide, with a side gable roof and a porch extending across its front facade. It was built in 1849 by Ezra Brabrook, a local furniture dealer. It is one of the first Italianate houses in Old Cambridge, retaining distinctive Greek Revival characteristics such as its corner pilasters and front door sidelight windows, while including an Italianate wide cornice and brackets.

The Bauer Manor is a broad, two-story wooden Greek Revival structure with a wide hip-roof main mass, a gabled wing extending to the rear from one end, and another rear single-story addition constructed in 1965. The front facade is seven bays wide, with a two-story square-column portico extending across the entire front. Two entrances are in the front. The primary entrance is located near the center, and has a Revival molded trim enframement, sidelights, and a transom.

The Quell House is a historic house at 222 South Wright Street in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. It is a 1-1/2 story Craftsman bungalow with a shallow-pitch side gable roof, and a front gabled porch extending across the front which is supported by stuccoed piers. The gables have deep eaves and exposed rafter ends. The walls are finished in stucco that had a gravel-like material thrown against it while wet, giving it a rough and textured surface.

The Evans–West House is a historic house at 40 West Avenue (corner of Oakwood) in Ocean View, Delaware. It is a -story L-shaped wood-frame house, with clapboard siding, a cross-gable roof configuration, and a brick foundation. Its front, facing north toward Oakwood Avenue, is three bays wide, with a single-story hip-roofed porch extending across most of its width, supported by turned columns. The gable at the center of the roof has a pointed window at its center.

The front facade, facing east, is three bays wide, with a central entrance sheltered by an ornate portico with chamfered posts and elliptical arches. Above the entrance are paired round-arch windows; the remaining bays have sash windows. The south facade of the main block has an enclosed Colonial Revival porch extending across most of hits length. The house in 2014 The building interior follows a central-hall plan, with high-quality woodwork and marble fireplace surrounds on the first floor.

Trans-Hudson orogens. The eastern and the southeastern side is neighbouring the Grenville orogens. The southern side is generally meeting the Keweenawan rift, while the southernmost tip of the craton in Minnesota is reaching the Central Plain orogen. The Superior Craton covers central Canada; it occupies the northern and central part of Quebec, extending across the central and the southern part of Ontario, and also covers southeast Manitoba, with its tip reaching the boundary between the U.S. states of South Dakota and Minnesota.

The frets on early mountain dulcimers were usually simple wire staples spanning only halfway across the fingerboard, meaning only the melody string course could be fretted. By the early 1960s, many dulcimer makers had abandoned staples in favour of manufactured fret wire extending across the entire width of the fingerboard. This enabled players to fret all the strings, allowing for chording and an expanded melodic range. A variety of new, "noter- less" playing styles emerged now collectively referred to as "chord-melody" play.

Here George Greene pioneered his vast share-farming enterprise in 1892 that revolutionised the approach to wheat growing, whereby he supplied the land and seed and the share farmer provided the labour. By 1911, fifty share farmers had been established on , generally on share farms of each, extending across the Parish of Iandra. The property was also at the forefront of wheat growing technology in Australia. Greene increased production by scientific use of superphosphate fertiliser, rotation between grazing and wheat fallowing.

The interior follows a typical central chimney plan, with a narrow entrance vestibule that also houses a winding staircase, parlor chambers to either side of the chimney, and the kitchen extending across much of the rear. There are small chambers in the rear corners on either side of the kitchen. The floor plan of the second floor is similar. The house was built in the 1770s by Dudley Woodbridge, a doctor in Mystic who also represented Groton in the state legislature.

The Stone House stands on the west side of Maine Street in southeastern Farmingdale, just north of its junction with Sheldon Street. It is a 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a flared mansard roof providing space for a full second floor. It is topped by an elaborately decorated cupola. It is three bays wide, with the right bay projecting forward to give the building an L shape, with a single-story porch extending across the rest of the front.

This ejecta forms a nearly continuous blanket out to at least one crater diameter before forming extended rays and a multitude of wispy markings across the surface. The ray system continues for several hundred kilometers, including extending across a substantial portion of the Korolev basin. Due to these prominent rays, Crookes is mapped as part of the Copernican System. As would be expected for a relatively young crater, Crookes has a sharp-edged rim that has not been significantly eroded.

This ecoregion covers the semi-arid portions of the Deccan Plateau, extending across the Indian states of Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu to the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. Only small patches of natural habitat remain, as most of the region has been cleared for grazing. The annual rainfall is less than , all falling during the short rainy season, and the area receives no rainfall during the months of November to April. Temperatures can exceed during the hotter months.

It is considered the deepest crater on the near side of the Moon. The interior of Newton is a picture in contrasts. The southern end has been covered, possibly by lava flows or ejecta, leaving a relatively flat surface that is marked only by tiny craters and a slight wrinkle ridge down the middle. The northern half is rugged and irregular, with the satellite crater Newton D overlying the north- northeastern rim and extending across nearly half the crater diameter.

The three by two bay Hondō, with tiled hipped roof and mokoshi, is unusual among wayō style buildings in being open, like the Tōdai-ji Daibutsuden, for its full height (without the need occasioned by the latter's daibutsu), in being so narrow and shallow relative to its height, and in having an open porch extending across its entire front. An early Muromachi period rebuild, it was dismantled for repair and reconstruction in 1933. It has been designated an Important Cultural Property.

These are protected by a canopy protruding from the crease that separates the two levels of the building. At each side of the central facade are open rectangular portals. One of them leads to the bar, and the other to the waiting room. Extending across the mezzanine level of the passenger building is a series of rectangular windows, while in the central part of the main facade at that level is a square station clock, which forms a crowning feature.

Sills and flood basalts of the Sverdrup Basin Magmatic Province are well-exposed in the Princess Margaret Range, a north-south trending mountain range extending across the length of Axel Heiberg Island. Basaltic lava flows occur in the Isachsen and Strand Fiord formations. Sills intrude the entire Mesozoic succession and are particularly abundant in the Triassic shales of the Blaa Mountain Group. Strand Fiord Formation basalt flows on Axel Heiberg Island are a product of volcanism in the Canadian Arctic Rift System.

The result is a landscape of primarily residential architecture extending across three centuries, with central cluster of civic buildings. The historic district is essentially linear, running along Enfield Street for from Connecticut Route 190 in the north to the junction of Old King Street and Oliver Road in the south. Residential architecture predominates in the district, with wood frame houses 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 stories in height. Stylistically they are diverse, although layout and spatial arrangement are fairly consistent.

In 1883, the United States government considered improving the navigability of the creek to serve the agricultural and foresting interests of the area. The channel was found to be narrow, but deep enough to support commercial vessels. The major inhibitor to commercial navigation was the bar extending across the northern portion of the mouth of the creek. It was ultimately decided that improved access was not worth the cost of dredging, and goods continued to be taken to Ware's Wharf via wagon.

The Childers Farmstead is a historic farm property in rural southern White County, Arkansas. It is located south of McRae, near the junction of Bowman and Rip Kirk Roads. The farmstead includes three buildings: the main house, a large barn, and a small "Delco house", originally built to house electricity generation equipment provided by Delco Electronics. The main house is a vernacular single story wood frame structure, with a hip roof and a shed-roof porch extending across its main (northern) facade.

This includes three incised ridges running horizontal between the eyes, one ridge running horizontal from the outer corner of the eye to the top of the ear, on both sides; and one notched ridge extending across the cheek to the bottom of the ear on both sides of the face. The major difference in this specimen is that the single, vertical, notched-ridge extending from the middle of the eye ridges across the forehead, curves to the right of the face.

The Robert Smalls House is located in central Beaufort, at the northeast corner of Prince and New Streets. It is a two-story wood frame structure, with a side gable roof and a two-story porch extending across its (south-facing) front facade. A two-story ell extends to the rear, giving the house a basic T shape. The house was built in 1843, originally with a single- story porch and ell, which were expanded to two stories in 1850 and 1870.

The monument erected to him in the left wing of St. Catharine's chapel in the cathedral of St. Stephen in Vienna portrays a catechist bending over two children, inscribed "Charity", to the left, a priest in the act of elevating the Blessed Sacrament, attended by a young priest and a clerk, inscribed "and Prayer". Under these two inscriptions, and extending across the whole length of the monument are the words "link together the inhabitants of this world and those of the next".

The core portions of the Garrison house are its two- story main block and a two-story wing extending to the rear of the house. It was built about 1902 to meet increased retail demand in the community, and operated in a cooperative arrangement with the Oark General Store.

Area in constellation Virgo around M87 M87 is near the high declination border of the Virgo constellation, next to the constellation of Coma Berenices. It lies along the line between the stars Epsilon Virginis and Denebola. The interior follows a central hall plan, with a two-stage staircase in the central hall that has a fine mahogany banister and balustrade.

The Hussey–Littlefield farmstead stands on the west side of Hussey Road, in central Albion southeast of the village center. The farmstead consists of a connected series of wood- frame structures, with the main house at the northern end and a barn at the southern. The house is a 2-1/2 story structure, with a side gable roof, and a porch extending across its front. It has modest Italianate styling, with corner pilasters and decorative trident-shaped posts supporting the porch.

The Temple House is set on the west side of Chute Street, a side street in a residential area west of Reading's central business district. The house is a two-story wood frame structure, with a mansard roof providing a full third story. The mansard roof features deep flared eaves with decorative brackets, and the windows in its gabled dormers are topped by dentillated cornices. The main facade, facing east, is three bays wide, with a single-story porch extending across its width.

The Gracie House is a historic house in New Gascony, Arkansas. It is located in an agricultural setting south of Arkansas Highway 88, on land that made up what was once Arkansas's largest cotton plantation. It is a modest 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a wide gable roof and weatherboard siding. A gable section projects at the right side of the front, with a porch extending across the remainder of the front, recessed under the main roof and supported by Tuscan columns.

The state retained land extending across the northern part of present-day Ohio called the Connecticut Western Reserve. The Western Reserve section was settled largely by people from Connecticut, and they brought Connecticut place names to Ohio. Connecticut made agreements with Pennsylvania and New York which extinguished the land claims within those states' boundaries and created the Connecticut Panhandle. Galata, then the suburb of Sykai, was an integral part of the city by the early 5th century: the Notitia Urbis Constantinopolitanae of ca. 425 names it as the city's 13th region. It was probably fortified with walls in the 5th century, and under Justinian I it was granted the status of a city. The Berrien-Cass-St. Joseph (BCS) League is an athletic conference for high schools in southwest Michigan. The Kraemer-Harman House is a historic house at 513 2nd Street in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It was built in 1922 for a congregation founded in 1915, and is a fine local example of vernacular Craftsman architecture. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

The Fielder House is a historic house in Fordyce, Arkansas. Its oldest portion built in 1875, it is the oldest building in Dallas County, predating Fordyce's founding. It stands on the south side of US 79B in the west side of the city, and looks today like a single-story central-hall gable-roof structure with a rear shed addition, and a shed-roof porch extending across the front. The core of the house is a log structure, which is now the west side of the building.

The Baynham House is a historic house on Stephens Street in Success, Arkansas. It is a two-story wood-frame structure with a hip-and-gable roof, and a porch extending across the width of the front. It was built in 1911 by J. W. Baynham, a local lumber merchant, and is one of the few buildings in the community to survive from its heyday as a lumber town in the early 20th century. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Elenydd landscape at Drum Nantygorlan Elenydd () is an upland area of mid Wales, extending across parts of northern and eastern Ceredigion and Powys between Aberystwyth and Rhayader. Elenydd is also a name given to the medieval commote of Cwmwd Deuddwr which covered approximately the same area. The area is an upland plateau within the Cambrian Mountains, source of the rivers Elan, Severn, Teifi, Towy and Wye. Elenydd is generally interpreted to mean the upland area between Pumlumon in the north and Mynydd Epynt in the south.

The I.T. Montgomery House is located in an residential area south of the Mound Bayou town center, on the west side of South Main Avenue midway between Green Street West and West South Street. It is a two-story brick building, with a hip roof and an elevated brick foundation. It has a single-story porch extending across its front, with a hip roof supported by sloped square Doric columns set on brick piers. The porch is reached by a long stair with a right- angle turn.

The Chief Kashakes House, also known as the Eagle Tail House and Chief Kah- Shakes House, is a historic Tlingit clan house in Saxman, Alaska. Built in 1895 using balloon framing, the two story wood frame structure was the first structure built in Saxman, and is the only surviving clan house of its type there. It has a hip roof, and is clad in shiplap siding. The front originally had a porch extending across the full width, but this has been reduced to just the central portion.

The Manantali hydroelectric dam and its reservoir, Lake Manantali, the largest in Mali, is located 90 km to the south-east of Bafoulabé on the Bafing. Extending across two banks of the Senegal River, the Commune is bounded to the east by Kontéla Commune and Oualia Commune, to the north Tomora Commune and Sidibéla Commune, to the south by Mahina Commune and to the west by Diamou Commune of Kayes Cercle.

The Charles R. Palmer House stands in a mixed residential area on the eastern side of Burlington's Old North End neighborhood, on the west side of North Willard Street between Russell and Pomeroy Streets. It is a two-story wood frame structure, with a hip roof pierced by hip-roof dormers. Its exterior exhibits a variety of stylistic architectural elements, including bands of wooden shingles between the first and second floor, which are otherwise finished in wooden clapboards. It has a single-story porch extending across the front, with turned posts and decorative brackets.

The Montgomery House stands just west of the town's triangular green, on the south side of North Main Street (Vermont 118). It is a 2-1/2 story brick building, with a twin-gabled roof and stone foundation. Its front is basically a pair of three-bay facades, each with center entrances on both levels, the upper doorways providing access to the roof of a porch extending across the building's center four bays. The gable ends are framed in wood and finished in clapboards, with small square windows near the gable peak.

The former Poland Spring Beach House stands on the south side of Maine Street (SR 26), on a narrow isthmus separating Middle Range Pond (to the south) and Lower Range Pond (to the north). It is a shingled two story wood frame structure, with a hip-roofed central section flanked by single-story wings, each also covered by a hip roof. The central section is topped by a cupola, and has wide porches extending across its width on both sides. The porch features scroll-sawn decorative elements, including balusters and brackets on the cornice.

The protoconch is glassy, white, mammillate and consists of two whorls. The other whorls number about six, of which the body whorl forms more than half the shell. The sculpture consists of (on the body whorl) 12 rounded straight ribs, widest near the periphery, extending across the whorls and fainter near the suture and on the siphonal canal. These are crossed by about (on the body whorl) 16 rounded even threads, which pass over the ribs and interspaces without any marked nodulation and are separated by wider interspaces.

They are strongest on the base, but are generally so faint as not to interrupt the apparent smoothness of the surface nor to be perceptible without a lens. The suture is appressed, undulated over the ribs. The fasciole is narrow, excavated, smooth except for lines of growth and the undulations due to the ribbing. The transverse sculpture consists of rather faint growth lines and of (on the body whorl 12) strong, stout rounded ribs, strongest in front of the fasciole where they end bluntly, extending across the whorl and disappearing only on the siphonal canal.

Animals of this genus are typically colored as to blend in with their backgrounds, presenting mostly black or brown or gray coloring on their dorsal sides. The ventral side tends to be more variable in coloration, though in species such as O. underwoodi, the dorsal coat can have patterns such as white bands extending across the hind quarters. Ventral coat coloration is often some combination of white, gray, or brown. Hair on these animals ranges from short to relatively long, and the hairs are generally fine and soft.

The grant extended Delaware's northern border by The Twelve-Mile Circle in New Castle, Delaware, extending across the Delaware River. If the circle were to be extended fully, it would have included a portion of New Jersey, but this was unacceptable because that land had already been granted. As a result, the 12-Mile-Circle terminated at the mean low water mark on New Jersey's shore. The post-1681 border gave present-day Delaware full ownership of the Delaware River along a stretch of the New Jersey border.

The windows of the second floor are set in round-arch openings, with a shallow iron balcony extending across all three. The house was built in 1857 for George McManus, a master mariner who lived here until his death in 1864. It is one of the region's finest examples of transitional Greek Revival-Italianate design, but its architect is unknown. In the mid-20th century it was owned by the locally prominent Richardson family, and it served for a number of years as the parsonage for St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

US 20 marker, east of Sangerfield, New York In New York, US 20 runs roughly parallel to the New York State Thruway (I-90) throughout the state. The route runs concurrently with New York State Route 5 twice, with the second overlap extending across Western and Central New York from Avon to Auburn. US 20 runs across the rural Cherry Valley Turnpike between Skaneateles and Albany. US 20 was also known as the Boston-Buffalo highway prior to the construction of the New York Thruway and Massachusetts Turnpike.

Shore Acres is set on the south side of Lamoine Beach Road, near its eastern end in the southern part of the town, between the Lamoine Beach State Park campground and beach parking area. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame building that now has relatively vernacular styling. It has a side-gable roof which has a projecting section at the western (right) end, wooden clapboard siding, and an open hip-roofed porch extending across its front (north-facing) facade. Shed-roof additions (both enclosed porches) span the eastern and southern sides.

Friseria lacticaput is a moth of the family Gelechiidae. It is found in Mexico (Guerrero).Friseria at funet The wingspan is about 15 mm. The forewings are dark brown, with a very narrow snow-white basal patch extending across the wing, an oblique snow-white costal patch at one-fourth reaching to the fold and projecting outward on the cell, a minute white oblique costal streak at the commencement of the costal cilia, and a large snow-white semicircular tornal patch extending through the terminal cilia and sparsely sprinkled with brownish scales.

Its main block has a mansard roof; ells extend to the rear of the house that have gable roofs. The main facade is three bays wide, with a center entry flanked by paired sash windows, and a four-column porch extending across its width. The Cornwall General Store was located in the small village center of Cornwall, on the east side of Vermont Route 30, immediately south of Cornwall Town Hall. It was a rambling 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a gable-roofed main section that has additions to both sides and the rear. It was finished in wooden clapboards, and the main block and left addition had a Victorian porch extending across them. The interior of the store had retained many original features, including store fixtures and oil lamps on the wall.

The southeast side has a secondary entrance which features sidelight windows and a Federal period entablature. The interior follows a typical early Federal period central chimney plan, with the main stairway in front of the chimney, with the parlor to the left, dining room to the right, and a now-modernized kitchen extending across the rear. A second staircase is located next to the side entrance. Woodwork on the interior is a mix of Greek Revival and Federal styles, with a particularly fine fireplace mantel surround in the parlor.

Knollwood is located in southeastern Dublin, on the south side of Upper Jaffrey Road at its junction with Snow Hill Road. The main house is located well south of the road, on a cleared plateau with panoramic views of nearby Mount Monadnock and the hills to the south. The house is a 2-1/2 story frame structure, with a hip roof and shingled exterior. Its main section is roughly H-shaped, with a long ell extending to the west, and a porch extending across much of its southern facade.

The Amos Goodin House is a historic house at 37738 Wright Farm Road, in rural Loudoun County, Virginia northeast of Purcellville. Once the center of a larger landholding, the house is a two-story stone farmhouse built about 1810, with a wooden porch extending across the front. The layout of the house is a rare surviving example of an English "Mora Stuga" plan, with a hall that has a winding stair, and a single large chamber occupying most of the ground floor. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

The original main entrance is in the brick facade, which is two bays in width with sash windows in most positions. To the east is a 2-1/2 story wood frame section, with a gabled roof and a porch extending across its five-bay front. At the far eastern end is a three-bay single-story frame section, with what is now the main entrance flanked by picture and bay windows. Richard Strong, its builder, was prominent in civic affairs, serving as a town selectman, justice of the peace, and state representative.

The street-facing facade is two bays wide, with a hip-roof porch extending across its width, supported by square posts with paired brackets at the top. The main entrance is on the northeast side, under a similar porch with a projecting vestibule. The house was built sometime between 1848 and 1851 by William T. Hilliard, a clerk of the local court and deputy collector of customs. It was purchased in 1862 by Hannibal Hamlin, during his single term as Vice President of the United States under Abraham Lincoln.

With her earliest well-known work, Rhapsody, Bartlett reinvented the mural form for Conceptual art. Rhapsody is a painting executed on 987 foot-square enamel-coated steel tiles arranged in a grid 7 plates tall by roughly 142 wide, extending across multiple walls. The subject matter consists of variations on what Bartlett felt were the basic elements of art: four universal motifs (house, tree ocean, mountain), geometric forms (line, circle, triangle, square), and color (25 shades). The seven sections are entitled "Introduction", "Mountain", "Line", "House", "Tree", "Shape", and "Ocean".

The Laflin—Phelps Homestead is located on the eastern fringe of Southwick's village center, on the north side of Depot Street opposite its junction with Sheep Pasture Road. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a gabled roof and clapboarded exterior. It originally had a 1-1/2 story ell on the back, which was expanded to a full 2-1/2 stories sometime between 1830 and 1850. The main facade is five bays wide, with a single-story Victorian porch extending across the front.

Frog Level is a historic house in rural Columbia County, Arkansas, one of a handful of surviving antebellum plantation houses in southwestern Arkansas. It was built in 1852-54 by William Frazier, an Irish immigrant who was enslaving 14 to 16 people at the time, to be the headquarters of his forced labor camp. It sits on the north side of County Road 148, west of County Road 27S andMagnolia. The two-story wood frame house has two rooms on each floor, and a two-story temple portico extending across its front.

The four storey sandstone masonry building with mezzanine has been designed in the Victorian Free Classical style, utilising highly modelled sandstone elements around the windows of the first and second floors. The classical detailing: detailed pediments, dentilated cornice, pilasters, and aedicular windows; is applied consistently and symmetrically to both the King and Pitt Street facades and the corner facade. The building is divided into seven bays on the King Street (north) facade with five bays extending across the Pitt Street (west) facade. The corner facade consists of one bay.

The Pitjantjatjara (,Laurie Bauer, 2007, The Linguistics Student's Handbook, Edinburgh or ) are an Aboriginal people of the Central Australian desert near Uluru. They are closely related to the Yankunytjatjara and Ngaanyatjarra and their languages are, to a large extent, mutually intelligible (all are varieties of the Western Desert language). They refer to themselves as aṉangu (people). The Pitjantjatjara live mostly in the northwest of South Australia, extending across the border into the Northern Territory to just south of Lake Amadeus, and west a short distance into Western Australia.

The 1975 eruption of Mauna Loa was a short-lived Hawaiian eruption that followed 25 years of quiescence at the Hawaiian volcano Mauna Loa. The eruption began just before midnight on July 5 and involved fissures extending across the length of Moku‘āweoweo, Mauna Loa's summit caldera, and into the upper ends of the volcano's northeast and southwest rift zones. After only 6 hours, activity in Moku‘āweoweo and on the southwest rift zone ended, but lava fountaining continued along the northeast rift zone until 7:30 p.m. on July 6, when all activity ceased.

The main entrance is on the longer southwest facade, near the southern corner and under a shed-roof porch. The interior has a hallway extending across the front, with a dining room and kitchen in the rear of the first floor, and open auditorium on the second floor. The walls and ceilings are finished in tongue-and-groove maple. The grange hall was originally a workers boarding house built by A.M. Webster for workers at his nearby granite quarry, and was located on the west side of the Pleasant River.

Ze'ev Jabotinsky, the founder and first leader of Betar, shown here in Jewish Legion uniform. Betar was founded by Ze'ev Jabotinsky at a meeting of Jewish youth in Riga, Latvia, arranged by Aaron Propes in 1923. Jabotinsky spoke of the Arab attacks on the settlement of Tel Hai and other Jewish settlements in the Galilee. He believed that these incidents, indicative of serious threats to the Jewish Palestinians, could only be addressed by the recreation of the ancient Jewish state of Israel, extending across the entirety of both Palestine and Jordan.

The interior of the house is accessed by a large entrance hall which extends to the rear of the original house structure. There is a small foyer area at the front created by a decorative timber partition extending across the hall with an open doorway in the centre. The central feature of the entrance hall is the high dark-timber vaulted ceiling extending from the front door to the rear. The foyer partition does not extend to the ceiling so that the continuity of the ceiling is not obstructed.

The west facade features a central doorway surmounted by a window which opens into the gallery. All window and door openings, with the exception of the west door and window, are topped with jack arches with raised keystones executed in rubbed bricks. The interior of the church is laid out in two aisles running east and west, with a gallery extending across the west end, accessed by a staircase in the southwest corner of the building. Centered on the north wall of the church is the pulpit, which is crowned with a simple sounding board.

The farmhouse is a two-story brick gable- roofed building, set facing west. It has a porch extending across its front, and is basically Federal in its architecture, although it has Italianate paired brackets in its eaves. with The property was developed as a farm about 1800 by James Butler, who sold it in 1813 to Asa Rhodes, with the house then standing. It was farmed for over a century by members of the Rhodes family, and in the 20th century by the Andrewses, who ceased operations in 1978.

The Charles Juhre House is a historic house at 406 North 4th Street in Rogers, Arkansas. It is a brick American Foursquare house, two stories in height, with a front porch extending across the full width of the building. A polygonal window projection occupies the center bay on the second floor, and there is a large gable dormer with a Palladian window projecting above it from the hip roof. The house was designed by local architect A. O. Clark, and is a fine local example of transitional Colonial and Classical Revival style.

The cliffs of Duino () and the gulf of Sistiana, Province of Trieste, Italy, seen from the Rilke Trail The Karst Plateau or the Karst region (, ), also locally called Karst, is a karst plateau region extending across the border of southwestern Slovenia and northeastern Italy. It lies between the Vipava Valley, the low hills surrounding the valley, the westernmost part of the Brkini Hills, northern Istria, and the Gulf of Trieste. The western edge of the plateau also marks the traditional ethnic border between Italians and Slovenes. The region gave its name to karst topography.

The office suite to the northwest comprises two rooms to Mary Street and three rooms along the northwest side working off the corridor arrived at from the stair from Mary Street. This corridor runs to the boardroom extending across the rear with a small room opening off to the west corner. On the first floor, internal masonry walls are plastered and room partitions are timber framed and lined, some also have panels of opaque textured glazing. Ceilings are lined with tongue and groove timber boards, have moulded timber cornices and decorative ceiling roses.

Built about 1770 and attached to the house around 1870, it is 1-1/2 stories in height, with corner pilasters, and a shed-roof porch extending across its front. The main house was built about 1843 by Asahel Kidder, a prosperous local sheep farmer who was also prominent in local civic affairs. The sophisticated Greek Revival elements showcased his sophistication and wealth. About 1870, Mr. Kidder added the right (or southerly) ell, a former "tenement house" or tavern built about 1770 that was adjacent to the property, in order to accommodate a growing family.

The Russian Federation, commonly known as Russia, is the most extensive country in the world, covering , more than an eighth of the Earth's land area. Russia is a transcontinental country extending across the whole of northern Asia and 40% of Europe; it spans 11 time zones and incorporates a great range of environments and landforms. With 143 million people, Russia is the ninth most populated country.

The Odawa were important prior to European colonization for their trading network throughout the Great Lakes area. They retained this influence into the 18th century, as French traders relied on them to take furs east from tribes they traded with to the north and west. When French explorers first came to this area, they claimed it as part of New France, based in today's Quebec province. The Ottawa and Ojibwe tribes were the principal inhabitants of this area, extending across to Manitoulin Island and the Bruce Peninsula of Ontario, Canada.

The Huron–Manistee National Forests are two separate national forests, the Huron National Forest and the Manistee National Forest, combined in 1945 for administration purposes and which comprise Table 6 - NFS Acreage by State, Congressional District and County - United States Forest Service - September 30, 2007 of public lands, including of wetlands, extending across the northern lower peninsula of Michigan. The Huron–Manistee National Forests provide recreation opportunities for visitors, habitat for fish and wildlife, and resources for local industry. The headquarters for the forests is in Cadillac, Michigan.

In 1908, the New York State Legislature created Route 30, an unsigned legislative route extending across New York from Niagara Falls northeast to Rouses Point. By 1914, the definition of Route 30 was modified to include the portion of River Road and Main Street between the Niagara Falls city line and Island Street in North Tonawanda. This addition to Route 30 was removed on March 1, 1921. When the first set of posted routes in New York were assigned in 1924, none of the former North Tonawanda extension of Route 30 was assigned a designation.

The southern boundary is also vague, usually considered to be an imaginary line leaving the Housatonic River somewhere south of the Tory Cave and extending across Squash Hollow. The Sherman town line forms the western boundary, although several homes in Sherman are usually considered to be part of the Gaylordsville community. The Housatonic River runs through the center of the village and is joined by the Wimisink, Womunshenuck, Naromiyocknowhusunkatankshunk (Morrissey), and Squash Hollow brooks. The south end of the valley is divided into two narrow valleys by Straits Mountain or Pauguiack.

During the mid-19th century, ships carrying timber from Canada (particularly Quebec City) arrived at Padstow and offered cheap travel to passengers wishing to emigrate. Shipbuilders in the area also benefited from the quality of their cargoes. Among the ships that sailed were the barques Clio, Belle and Voluna; and the brig Dalusia. Padstow- Rock ferry The approach from the sea into the River Camel is partially blocked by the Doom Bar, a bank of sand extending across the estuary which is a significant hazard to shipping and the cause of many shipwrecks.

The Thomas Jefferson Hale General Merchandise Store is a historic commercial building in rural south-central White County, Arkansas. It is located south of Searcy, at the southwest corner of the junction of County Roads 62 and 433 (Rogers and West Vinity Roads), known locally as Vinity Corner. It is a single-story wood frame structure, finished with sheet metal siding, instead of brick that was more typically used for commercial construction. Its front faces east, with three fixed windows flanking a double-door entry, and a shed- roof porch extending across its width.

The Samuel Campbell House is located on the north side of US 1, on the eastern side of Cherryfield village, just west of the Gen. Alexander Campbell House and northeast of the Frank Campbell House. It is a large and rambling 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a richly decorated and varied exterior typical of the Queen Anne period. The front facade faces south, and has a single-story porch extending across its full width, supported by grouped turned columns, with brackets and a turned balustrade.

The Potsdamer Bahnhof was the Berlin terminus of the city's first railway, linking it with Potsdam. Begun in 1835, it was opened from the Potsdam end as far as Zehlendorf on 22 September 1838, and its entire length of 26 km on 29 October. The first train was hauled by a British-built locomotive, the work of Robert Stephenson at his Newcastle-upon-Tyne works in 1835, and called Adler (Eagle). In 1848 the lines were extended west to Magdeburg, to link up with routes extending across the future German state.

The interior retains period woodwork and finishes, although there have been numerous alterations, including the removal of some walls and the addition of partitions. The former ballroom space on the second floor, extending across the front of the building, has survived with little alteration. with The tavern was built in 1813 by Nathaniel Newell, the son of the local Congregationalist minister Abel Newell, who died the previous year in a typhus epidemic. Newell was the town's wealthiest citizen and a prominent civic leader, serving in the state legislature.

The Civic Club is located in Ryan Street, Charters Towers in what is essentially a residential streetscape. The clubhouse is a single storey building, largely of timber, with a rendered brick wall on the eastern side and fibrous cement cladding on the front. It is set on low stumps and is L shaped in form with a projecting gable to the front. There is a verandah extending across the front from the gabled section and along the side, which has a cast iron balustrade and valance linked by panels of timber latticework.

The Marcellus is found throughout the Allegheny Plateau region of the northern Appalachian Basin of North America. In the United States, the Marcellus Shale runs across the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions of New York, in northern and western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, through western Maryland, and throughout most of West Virginia extending across the state line into extreme western Virginia. The Marcellus bedrock in eastern Pennsylvania extends across the Delaware River into extreme western New Jersey. It also exists in the subsurface of a small portion of Kentucky and Tennessee.

The front facade is five bays wide, with a single-story porch extending across the center three bays. It is supported by round columns, and has Union Jack balustrade both on the ground floor, and encircling its roof. Second-floor windows are set in round- arch openings, with the outer and central bays housing doubled windows. with The county's first courthouse was built in Hyde Park in 1836, not long after the county was created by the state legislature, and Hyde Park was chosen as its shire town.

Finally, to symbolize the striking power of the new armored force, he added a diagonal lightning bolt in red, extending across the total design and full diameter of the patch. In 1940, Major General Adna R. Chaffee Jr. was promoted to lead the newly created Armor Forces which had evolved from the old 7th Cavalry Brigade and were preparing for the looming war in Europe. Chaffee wanted a patch for this new Armored Force. He chose to combine the 7th Brigade patch with the triangle from the World War I crest.

The Ca' Pesaro is a Baroque marble palace facing the Grand Canal of Venice, Italy. Originally designed by Baldassarre Longhena in the mid-17th century, the construction was completed by Gian Antonio Gaspari in 1710. As at Longhena's Ca' Rezzonico, a double order of colossal columns and colonnettes flanking arch-headed windows, reinterpreting a motif of Jacopo Sansovino, Longhena creates the impression of double loggias extending across the main Grand Canal frontage, above a boldly rusticated basement. Today it is one of the 11 museums run by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia system.

The Elbridge G. Bemis House is located in a rural residential setting east of the village center of Chesham, on the north side of Chesham Road west of Chesham Pond. It is a 1½-story frame structure, with a gabled roof and clapboarded exterior. A substantial single-story gabled ell extends to its right, with an open shed-roof porch extending across its front and around its side. The main block is three bays wide, with the main entrance in the right bay and two windows in the attic level.

The Elbridge G. Bemis House is located in a rural residential setting east of the village center of Chesham, on the north side of Chesham Road west of Chesham Pond. It is a 1½-story frame structure, with a gabled roof and clapboarded exterior. A substantial single-story gabled ell extends to its right, with an enclosed shed-roof porch extending across its front and around its side. The main block is three bays wide, with the main entrance in the right bay and two windows in the attic level.

The Birches stands on the east side of Foster Lane, a short way south of its northern end at Lakeshore Drive, and about south of that road's junction with Maine State Route 27. It is a rectangular 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a gabled roof and shingled exterior. Its main facade faces northwest, with an enclosed single-story hip-roofed porch extending across its width. The southwest roof face is adorned with an eyebrow dormer, and a fieldstone chimney rises through the northeast roof face.

Although the Commuist Party was now banned, Wiedmaier moved in February 1933 to the Magdeburg region, accepting a Central Committee appointment as a party instructor with responsibilities extending across central-southern Germany, notably Thuringia and Saxony. By the start of 1934 he was active as a party instructor in Baden. It was here that he was arrested, together with other party activists and officials, at a clandestine meeting in Karlsruhe on 26 January 1934. It turned out that a party courier from Berlin whom they had been expecting to join them was a police spy.

The Hudson-Grace-Borreson House is a historic house at 719 West Barraque Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. With an evolutionary construction history dating to about 1830, it is a unique and distinctive blend of Greek Revival, Second Empire, and New Orleans French architectural styles. It is a 1-1/2 story wood frame structure, finished in bevel siding, with a dormered mansard roof that has an original iron railing at the boundary between the roof slopes. It has a porch extending across the front, featuring hexagonal posts and delicate turned woodwork.

Roxy also envisioned an elevated promenade between the two theaters, but this was never published in any of the official blueprints. Meanwhile, proposals for a Metropolitan Opera House on the site persisted. Official plans for a facility to the east of the RKO Roxy were filed in April 1932; the projected 4,042-seat opera facility would contain features such as a second- floor esplanade extending across 50th Street. However, the Met was unable to fund such a move, so the proposed new opera house was relegated to tentative status.

The George Pickering Nichols House is located in central southern Thompson, on the north side of Thompson Road (Connecticut Route 193) a few hundred feet west of where it passes under Interstate 395. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, three bays wide, with a front gable roof and a single-story hip-roofed front porch extending across the front. A long two-story wing extends to the west (left) of the main block. The corners of the building are pilasters, supporting a frieze and entablature at the cornice.

Devil's Den-Ewing Mountain is a wildland in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests of western Virginia that has been recognized by the Wilderness Society as a special place worthy of protection from logging and road construction. The Wilderness Society has designated the area as a “Mountain Treasure”.Virginia's Mountain Treasures, report issued by The Wilderness Society, May, 1999 Ewing Mountain, a range extending across the area, includes Devil's Den on the west and Chestnut Knob on the east. Raven Cliff, a unique geological site on the north.

The Blackburn House is a historic house at Main and College Streets in Canehill, Arkansas. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a cross- gable hip roof and a stone foundation. The house has the asymmetrical massing and decorative wood shingle siding in its gables that are characteristic of Queen Anne architecture, and shed-roof porch extending across its main facade, supported by box columns. The porch has a gabled pediment above the stairs leading to the main entrance, and a symmetry more typical of the Colonial Revival.

The Daniels House stands northwest of downtown Vergennes, on the north side of Macdonough Drive opposite Macdonough Park and the Vergennes city dock. The house is a modest vernacular 1-1/2 story wood frame structure. It is L-shaped, with a front-facing gabled main block, an ell extending to the west, and a shed-roof section extending across the rear. A shed-roof porch extends across the front, and there are entrances in both the front of the ell and the side of the main block.

The Lind Houses are located on the south side of the village of South Ryegate, on the south side of Pleasant Street, a side street connecting Church Street with United States Route 302. The seven houses are all nearly identical free- standing 2-1/2 story wood-frame structures, with front-facing gabled roofs and clapboarded exteriors. Each has a single-story hip-roof porch extending across the front, supported by bracketed Victorian turned posts, with square balusters. Their facades are three bays wide, with the main entrance in the left bay.

The forewings are russet, at the base of the dorsum a light chrome-yellow blotch extending across the fold and bordered on the outer edge with a short fuscous dash. The costa is grey brown except at two thirds a white, wedge-shaped mark. At two fifths of the costa is a short chrome-yellow transverse fascia not reaching the middle of the wing and at the end of the cell is a small fuscous dot. The dorsum, beyond the chrome-yellow basal blotch, is broadly fuscous to the termen at vein 3.

The National Crime Squad (Dienst Nationale Recherche, DNR) has a staff of approximately 800 employees and a number of units located around the Netherlands. It investigates organized and other serious crime extending across regional or national boundaries. The service pays particular attention to preventive measures based on intelligence gathering, investigation and the provision of advice. While the mainline of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad had already been constructed through Hampshire County in the 1840s along the Potomac River, there existed no rail line linking with the South Branch Potomac River Valley. As early as 1875, a group of Kanawha County businessmen and entrepreneurs formed a company designated the West Virginia Railroad Company. The company's objective was to construct a railroad from the Kentucky border extending across the state to West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. The line's northern terminus was to be designated a location in close proximity to the South Branch along the Maryland border on the Potomac.

Morgan Island is a small island while also being the largest feature in a group of islands located east of Cape Bidlingmaier, off the north side of Heard Island in the Indian Ocean. The island group was charted as extending across "Morgan Bay" on an 1860 sketch map compiled by Captain H.C. Chester, an American sealer, and "Morgan Islands" appears on the 1874 chart and the scientific reports of a British expedition under George Nares in . Morgan Island was surveyed in 1948 by the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions, who restricted the name Morgan as the largest feature in the group.

The phage tail-like component of the T6SS is a dynamic tubular structure that undergoes cycles of assembly and disassembly. It can be up to 600 nm long, and has been visualized extending across the bacterial cytoplasm in electron micrographs. The Basin and Range Province extending across Nevada, into western Utah, and south into Mexico now consists of N-S normal faulting due to crustal extension. If these normal faults show any extension in late Eocene to early Miocene, this could be evidence the Sevier orogenic event collapsing after deactivation. Gable stones on the facade On this 1827 map of Haarlem, the complex can be seen on the right between the Spaarne and the Buiten-Stads- Singel as one large block extending across the thin strip of land from waterway to waterway, situated just below the empty lot. In 1565 Dirck Diricksz. (ca. 1537-1618), a ship's captain, bought a house with property on the Scheepmakersdijk.Een Haarlems interieur in Philadelphia, by Pieter Biesboer, Haerlem jaarboek 1986; p.97-104 At that time ships were built there (Shipbuilder's dike), but today this street is called the Houtmarkt.

The ceiling, high, is of a bold, coffered geometrical design. The Library leads, to its right, to the Morning Room, about by and to its left to the Drawing Room of the same size as the Morning Room, decorated with gilt and tapestries and with views extending across the Severn to the Welsh hills. To the left of the Salon is the Dining room, of the same size as the Morning Room. Also to the left of the Great Hall are a Billiard room, Smoking room (now used as a bar when the house hosts receptions), Gun Room and WCs.

Kaiapit, New Guinea, 25 September 1943. Vasey and Dougherty discuss battle plans Lieutenant Colonel F. H. Sublet's 2/16th Infantry Battalion, a unit from Western Australia, arrived at Kaiapit on 22 September. It set out at 15:00 that afternoon, crossing the Maniang River, which had a series of channels, extending across . Its patrols attempted to locate the Japanese, as did aircraft from No. 4 Squadron RAAF. Only one saw any, the 12 Platoon, under Lieutenant J. R. Walder, which spotted three Japanese soldiers on the far side of the Umi River who fled when fired upon.

The New South Wales Club building is of the Italian palazzo style and is said to have been modelled on London's Travellers Club. For the NSW Club, Wardell designed a main three-story block extending across the full width of the Bligh Street frontage, with two wings at the rear of this central block which were demolished in the 1970s. The western ends of these wings were joined by a single storey block topped with a decorative sky lighted roof. At the northern and southern ends, extending towards O'Connell Street was a grassed courtyard, featuring a small fountain.

The Allen University campus is located northeast of downtown Columbia, centered in a block bounded by Taylor, Harden, Pine, and Hampton Streets. The Chappelle Building is set at the northwestern corner of this block, facing Harden Street. It is a 3-1/2 story masonry structure, built out of red brick with stone trim, and has a slate roof with a reproduction of its original cupola (destroyed by lightning in 1974) on top, and five gabled dormers. The main facade is fourteen bays wide, with a three-arched single- story porch extending across the middle six bays.

Located in central Vermont, Killington has 155 trails, 21 lifts, and extending across six interconnected mountain peaks. A seventh peak, Pico Mountain, was purchased by Killington in 1996, but operates as a separate resort on the same lift tickets. There have been several proposals to connect Killington and Pico with a series of lifts and trails since 1998, however, no plans have been finalized. The primary mountain is Killington Peak at , which has the second-highest summit in Vermont and has the second greatest vertical drop in the eastern United States (), after Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, New York at .

Cooleman was located on the southern side of the Weston valley, located in what is now a reserve in Bertel Crescent, Chapman.ACTmapi website, Retrieved 8 January 2018 Cooleman was farmed by Heather and Philip Champion from 1937. The Champions moved to the property from Weetangerra. Cooleman continued as a sheep run until residential construction in Weston Creek commenced around 1970. Allawah. In 1926, Kenneth Anderson was granted a soldier settlement lease in present-day Fisher and Waramanga, extending across to Mount Taylor (Block 22), and called his property Allawah.Block 22 Stromlo District - Property Name: 'Allawah', Archives ACT website, Retrieved 7 January 2018.

It is a roughly square two-story timber-framed structure, with a hip roof of original metal, and a two-story porch extending across its front facade. Although it is typical of houses built in Beebe in the 1880s, it is one of only a few of the type to survive. It was designed by the first owner, William Thomas Abington, who moved to Beebe with his family in the late 1870s. Abington's son, W. H. Abington, was a prominent local doctor and politician; the Abington Library at Arkansas State University Beebe is named for him.

Ivanhoe Park served as a central public open space in Manly and was the venue for many public events including the annual picnic of the Eight Hours' League. At this time, the Park was low-lying ground and in rainy season was covered with water extending from Belgrave Street up to the Bowling Green and extending across Raglan Street and even up to Denison Street and across Sydney Road. The park remained flooded until the water soaked away or evaporated. At the south west corner of the Park, was the Maze composed of wattle sticks about seven feet high placed closely together.

This tornado also had the longest track of any tornado in the outbreak, with its path extending across Northern Alabama and into Tennessee. In response to the damage in Phil Campbell, one of the hardest hit communities, writer Phil Campbell organized a fundraising and relief effort composed of 20 people with the name Phil Campbell or variations thereof. These Phil Campbells traveled to the community from places as far away as Australia to aid in the cleanup effort. Many of these people had planned to attend a convention in June, 2011 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the city's incorporation.

The Captain Enoch Lord House is located in northwestern Old Lyme, near the western end of Tantummaheag Road. It is set on about of land overlooking Lord's Cove, a bay on the Connecticut River, and includes a small island in the cove. The house is 1-1/2 stories in height, of wood frame construction, and is covered by a gambrel roof and clapboard siding. The main facade is five bays wide, with a single-story porch extending from the leftmost bay around the left side, and another porch extending across the front of a recessed rightward ell.

The Donnell House stands on the east side of Washington Street, at roughly the northwestern corner of the campus of the Maine Maritime Museum, the former Percy and Small Shipyard. The house is a -story wood frame structure, with a hip roof and a combination of clapboard and shiplap siding. The front (street- facing) facade is three bays wide, with clipped-gable dormer at the center, and a single-story porch extending across the front, supported by square posts set on paneled blocks. Windows are topped by decorative hoods, and the roofline is bracketed and dentillated.

The Delta capital and the headquarters for the ARVN IV Corps was at Cần Thơ in the central Mekong province of Phong Dinh. The PAVN's only relatively secure and uncontested base area in the Delta was in MR 3, the U Minh Forest, a vast mangrove swamp and forest extending across the border of Kiên Giang and An Xuyên Provinces on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand. As elsewhere in the Delta, activity in MR 3 increased sharply on 23 January. Well over half of the incidents reported were harassments and attacks by fire against South Vietnamese posts.

The Hamilton House is set at the northeast corner of South and Manning Streets, near the eastern edge of Calais' developed residential area. It is a two-story wood frame structure, roughly square in shape, with a hip roof that is topped at its center by a full-height monitor section. The walls are finished with clapboards and quoining at the corners, and the eave has Italianate brackets. The main facade, facing southeast, has a single-story porch extending across its width, supported by square posts with elaborate bracketing at their tops, and in the cornice of its hip roof.

The west end of western lake is surrounded by bare hills covered in sharp broken rock, and it is from this barren area that the lakes get their name. Three small brooks enter the lake at this end, one from the south, and two from the west. Approximately six miles from the western end of the lake it narrows to half a mile, and on the other side of these narrows the lake is surrounded by rounded slopes covered with grass and heaths. There is a shallow sandbar extending across the eastern end of the lake.

The Lakeside Grange is located in the village of Harrison, on the southwest side of Main Street (Maine State Routes 35 and 117), at its junction with Lincoln Street. It is a large rectangular 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a gabled roof and clapboard siding. It is essentially vernacular in style, with ornament limited to the brackets support the hip-roofed hood extending across the front. The first floor has an irregular and asymmetrical arrangement, with a pair of display windows to the left of the off-center entrance, and a single sash window to its right.

The Elizabeth Cady Stanton House stands in a quiet residential area of Seneca Falls, east of its downtown at the junction of Washington and Seneca Streets. It is a modest 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, its L shape covered by gabled roofs and its exterior finished in wooden clapboards. The north wing, oriented with its gable to the street, is 2-1/2 stories, while the south wing is a single story with an open porch extending across most of its width. The main entrance is located in the south wing near the junction of the two sections.

The Bahia interior forests cover an area of , extending across portions of Bahia, Espirito Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and Sergipe states. The Bahia interior forests lie inland from the Bahia coastal forests, which extend approximately inland from the coast. The Bahia interior forests extend north to the São Francisco River, where they lie much closer to the coast, and are bounded on the west by the dry Caatinga shrublands. Moving south, the forests extend further inland to the Rio Paraíba do Sul, Rio Preto, and Rio Grande, which form the boundary with the Paraná-Paraíba interior forests to the southwest.

For 9 June, Nielsen's birthday, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra presented a programme in Copenhagen's DR Concert Hall featuring Hymnus amoris, the Clarinet Concerto and Symphony No. 4 for a broadcast extending across Europe and the United States. The Danish Royal Opera has programmed Maskarade and a new production (directed by David Pountney) of Saul og David. During 2015, the Danish Quartet scheduled performances of Nielsen's string quartets in Denmark, Israel, Germany, Norway and the UK (at the Cheltenham Music Festival). In the UK, the BBC Philharmonic prepared a concert series on Nielsen beginning on 9 June in Manchester.

Watchtide by the Sea is set on the southeast side of US 1, roughly midway between downtown Searsport and Moose Point State Park. The inn consists of a 1-1/2 story Cape style house, which is connected by a long single-story ell extending to its left to a converted barn. The Cape is five bays wide, with a side gable roof and end chimneys, and has a porch extending across its front and a full-width shed-roof dormer above. The ell has smaller shed-roof dormers, which was also found on the barn's southern roof.

Originally, the bore was very impressive, sometimes between in height and extending across the width of the Petitcodiac River in the Moncton area. This wave would occur twice a day at high tide, travelling at an average speed of and producing an audible roar. Unsurprisingly, the "bore" became a very popular early tourist attraction for the city, but when the Petitcodiac causeway was built in the 1960s, the river channel quickly silted in and reduced the bore so that it rarely exceeds in height. On April 14, 2010, the causeway gates were opened in an effort to restore the silt-laden river.

Lawrence Street is located north of downtown Wakefield, extending east from Main Street toward Vernon Street at the southern end of Lake Quannapowitt. This house stands on the north side of the westernmost block, its lot fringed by low retaining walls, with granite posts flanking the driveway entrance. The house is 2-1/2 stories in height, with a front-facing clipped gable roof, and an exterior finished in a combination of wooden clapboards and decorative cut shingles. It is basically rectangular in plan, with a single-story hip-roofed porch extending across the front and around part of the left side.

Construction work included a log-crib dam extending across the Connecticut River at a place called "Great Falls" (now Turners Falls), a canal long and wide from there to a point downstream near the Deerfield River, and a towpath on its east shore. The canal had ten locks as finally completed. Upstream a dam and single-lock canal near the mouth of the Millers River allowed barges to bypass the French King rapids. The canals were opened for business in 1798 and by 1802 supported regular freight traffic by boat from Long Island Sound to Bellows Falls, Vermont.

Immediately after the battle of Winchester, Early withdrew to Fisher's Hill, a strong position just beyond Strasburg, and commanding the town. Here he made a stand, his right resting on the base of Massanutten Mountain, his left on the Little North Mountain, his line thus extending across the Strasburg Valley. Notwithstanding the strength of the rebel position, General Sheridan determined to deliver battle. His army was in position early on Thursday morning, the 22d, Crook's Eighth Corps, the Army of Western Virginia on the right, the Sixth Corps in the centre, the Nineteenth Corps on the left.

The upper level has a broad gable end, with a porch extending across much of the width, adorned by a pierced balustrade. Side- facing stairs provide outside access from the porch level to the ground on the right side of the facade. The land on which the camp stands was part of a large landholding of the Benedict family, prominent farmers in northern Norfolk. In the late 19th century this area began to be developed as a summer resort area after the railroad arrived in Norfolk in 1871, and Doolittle Lake was developed as a colony of exclusive private retreats. .

MACN Pv-RN 248 is somewhat damaged and almost rectangular, but slightly narrower at the back than at the front. The tooth bears three longitudinal rows of cusps. The middle row consists of five cusps, the labial row (assuming it is a left M1; if it is from the right, "lingual" and "labial" should be reversed) includes two or perhaps three cusps, and the lingual row includes probably four cusps. The lingual and middle rows extend across the entire length of the tooth, but the labial row is shorter, extending across about 70% of the length.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of , of which is land and (0.3%) is water. Eagle Chief Creek, which empties into the Cimarron River near Cleo Springs, was known to the Cheyenne people as Maheonekamax. There is a large gypsum formation extending across much of western Oklahoma, and the Ames Structure, which is buried under 3,000 meters of sand and soil and is possibly the result of a meteorite impact. The town of Ringwood is a well known producer of watermelons in the region and holds a Watermelon Festival annually.

Variety angulata Moore, and variety abnormis Moore, have been described from Burma and Tenasserim. Typically, these differ slightly from A. echerius as follows: Upperside with no purple gloss; the discal and postdiscal transverse bands more clearly defined, the former sometimes white anteriorly on the upperside, generally white or whitish on the underside and extending across both forewings and hindwings; underside of hindwing with an extra, subterminal black spot. The white markings and the extra black spot are variable characters, and specimens intermediate between typical A. echerius and typical angulata or abnormis are not uncommon. Race bifasciata (Moore) is found in the Andaman Islands.

Other differences include finned rear fenders and differing rear wheel panel treatments, as well as a wide chrome strip across the length of the car (extending across the tailgate on station wagons).Standard Catalog of Independents, p. 269 Inside, the cars' dashboards were fitted with the same basic instrument cluster as used in the previous two years, while trim levels were generally higher than for Studebakers. Sales of the new Clippers were not great; historians differ as to why, although the cars' obvious Studebaker origins (which led the new Clippers to be derisively nicknamed "Packardbakers" by many people) certainly did not help.

The Maranhão Babaçu forests cover an area of , extending across northeastern and central Maranhão state and northern Piauí state. The forests form a transition between the equatorial forests of the Amazon biome to the west and the drier savannas and xeric shrublands to the south and east. The ecoregion is bounded by the Maranhão mangroves and the Northeastern Brazil restingas along the coast to the north, the Tocantins- Araguaia-Maranhão moist forests of Amazonia across the Pindaré River to the northwest and west, the Cerrado tropical savanna to the south, and the Caatingas xeric shrublands to the east.

Bilinga is bounded by Boyd Street to the north-west, the Coral Sea to the east, and the border with New South Wales to the west. The entire eastern coastline of the suburb is a continuous sandy surf beach, with the northern end known as Bilinga Beach () and the southern end known as North Kirra Beach (). Immediately inland from the beach is a narrow strip of housing (the only residential part of the suburb). Gold Coast Airport (formerly the Coolangatta Airport, ) occupies the majority of the suburb, extending across the border into Tweed Heads West in New South Wales.

The Stone House, also known as the Walker-Stone House, is a historic house at 207 Center Street in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It is a two-story brick building, with a side-gable roof, a two-story porch extending across the front, and an ell attached to the left. The porch has particularly elaborate Victorian styling, with bracketed posts and a jigsawn balustrade on the second level. The house was built in 1845, by Judge David Walker, and is one of a small number of Fayetteville properties to survive the American Civil War (although it was damaged by a shell).

It has a single-story porch extending across its front and south sides. The construction date of the house is not known with certain; by stylistic analysis it was probably sometime in the 1850s, by one of two known owners during that period. The property, then more than , was purchased in 1888 by Isaac W. Dyer, a prominent Portland lawyer who served in the Maine legislature and as the United States District Attorney for many years. This property was Dyer's summer estate, and about 1900 he began a major transformation, building most of the outbuildings and landscaped features visible today.

The Squire House is located north of downtown Bennington, at the southeast corner of North Street (United States Route 7) and Gage Street. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a cross-gabled roof, an exterior clad in clapboards and decoratively cut shingles, and a foundation of brick, stone, and concrete. It has a projecting front porch, now enclosed in glass, extending across the front, with a smaller second-story porch above. A band of cut shingles extends around the building between the first and second floors, with more such shingling in the gables above the second-floor windows.

The Cole House stands in a residential area east of downtown Winchester, on the east side of Highland Avenue just north of its junction with Mason Street. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a complex gable and hip roof, an exterior of wooden clapboards and shingles, and a modern concrete foundation. Its basic plan is a T shape, with a single-story hip roofed porch extending across the front and part way along each side. Modillion blocks adorn the eaves, and there is Stick style wood work in the gable ends.

Irasburg Town Hall occupies a prominent position in the center of Irasburg village, on the east side of Irasburg Square, between the public library and the general store. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a dormered hip roof and clapboarded exterior. Its front facade is three bays wide, with a single-story porch extending across the front, with tapered round columns supporting a hip roof. The main entrance opens into a foyer that has stairs leading up at the sides, and provides access to a dining hall and kitchen on the ground floor.

With an area of , this is the largest marsh on France's Atlantic coast and the second largest of the country, after the Camargue in Provence.. The Marais Poitevin is the most important area of angelica cultivation in France. Extending across three departments (Vendée, Deux- Sèvres, and Charente-Maritime), it is situated west of Niort, north of La Rochelle, and south of Fontenay-le-Comte. In 1979 the Marais Poitevin was declared a Regional Natural Park (), in an effort to help preserve it. The marsh lost that status in 1997, due to intensive agricultural development around the Marsh that endangered the unique character of the region.

The film was a worldwide success, with its popularity extending across Southern/Central/Eastern Asia, the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Turkey, and Eastern/Western Africa. It was the first Indian film to gross () worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Indian film ever up until Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994). Disco Dancer was also the highest- grossing foreign film ever in the Soviet Union.

Nettl describes the central Plains tribes, from Canada to Texas: Blackfoot, Crow, Dakota, Cheyenne, Arapaho, Kiowa, and Comanche, as the most typical and simple sub- area of the Plains-Pueblo music area.

During the Roman Empire, in the time of the Flavian dynasty, Aurgi became a municipium, . Following the Ummayad conquest of the Iberian Peninsula, the name of Ŷaīyyān (of unclear origin) was mentioned in Hispano-Arab sources already in the 8th century. Close to Córdoba, the city became the head of a important in the emiral/caliphal period of Al-Andalus, extending across a territory with some similarities to the current province. During the turbulent 11th century, in the context of the Fitna of al-Andalus, the wider cora was territory in dispute between the most powerful neighbouring taifas, such as Córdoba, Granada or Toledo, splitting up its territory.

Most of its tightly packed brick buildings date from at least the early 20th century, with traditional storefronts along High Street (often with brightly painted murals on their side walls), and old apartment buildings and rowhouses and newer condominium developments in the surrounding blocks. The city installed 17 lighted metal archways extending across High Street throughout the Short North, reminiscent of such arches present in the area in the early 1900s. The area is also known to be a very gay and lesbian friendly neighborhood and many gay nightclubs and bars are located the area and is the location of the annual Columbus gay pride parade.

The paintings, damaged by weather during the 1859 lightning strike, were whitewashed over in the 1960s as restoration would have proved too expensive—only traces are visible, although the murals are capable of future recovery. An 1855 report described the paintings: "extending across the upper part of the west end of the nave is a beautiful fresco of the Last Judgment." By 1840 a gallery with seating for 150 had been built. Concurrent installations were a tower clock by E J Dent of The Strand, London, and a ring of eight "very fine bells" by Mears of Whitechapel, London, both presented to the parish by George Hussey Packe.

The invention of skeleton frame buildings made it possible to reduce the thickness of the walls and have wide openings such as ribbon windows extending across most or all of the building facade. In these buildings, brick, stone, or other masonry cladding is often just a single wythe of material called a veneer since it is non-loadbearing. The only way to support the weight of this veneer across a wide opening is by providing a shelf angle on which the masonry bears.Brick Industry Association, Technical Note 21B, 2006 The shelf angle, in turn, is attached to major elements of the building structure such as floor beams or structural columns.

The facade faces the Inner Quad, and is connected to other buildings by arcades which extend laterally. The entry is through a narthex or vestibule extending across the building. The nave has a single aisle on either side, separated by an arcade with a clerestory above it.

Johnny Seesaw's is located in the Green Mountains of northeastern Bennington County, a short way east of the Bromley Mountain Ski Area, on the north side of Vermont Route 11. The main building is a 1-1/2 saddle-notched log structure with a broad gabled roof, with a shed-roofed wing to one side and a frame addition to the rear. Principal features of the front are a large fieldstone chimney, and a single- story porch extending across the front and around to the left side. Attached to one of the rear corners is the home of the lodge's builder, Ivan Sesow, which is now called the Annex.

Map Showing Operator Permits in the Karoo Basin, South Africa South Africa has a major sedimentary basin that contains thick organic-rich shales: the Karoo Basin in central and southern South Africa. The Karoo Basin is large, extending across nearly two-thirds of the country, with the southern portion of the basin potentially favorable for shale gas. However, the basin contains significant areas of igneous sill intrusions that may impact the quality of the shale gas resources, limit the use of seismic imaging, and increase the risks of shale gas exploration. The Karoo is estimated to have technically recoverable resource of 485 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas.

The Mongolian-Manchurian grassland covers an area of . This temperate grasslands, savannas, and shrublands ecoregion of the Palearctic realm forms a large crescent around the Gobi Desert, extending across central and eastern Mongolia into the eastern portion of Inner Mongolia and eastern and central Manchuria, and then southwest across the North China Plain. To the northeast and north, the Selenge-Orkhon and Daurian forest steppes form a transition zone between the grassland and the forests of Siberia to the north. On the east and southeast, the grasslands transition to temperate broadleaf and mixed forests, including the Manchurian mixed forests, Northeast China Plain deciduous forests, and Central China loess plateau mixed forests.

There are now two projects working in the vicinity, aiming at improving and helping the tourist infrastructure in the area. A Balkans Peace Park Project is working towards the creation of a park extending across the borders of Albania, and Kosovo and has taken a lead in recent years in encouraging sustainable and ecologically sensitive tourism in and around Theth (for example by funding the marking of footpaths). Project Albanian Challenge has built a new bridge, which connects Theth to the nearby Grunas waterfalls over river Nanrreth. The project has also improved the marking of the trail to Curraj i Epërm, and has marked another approx.

However, when Anderson Bridge was completed in 1910, Cavenagh Bridge was spared from demolition and was converted to a pedestrian bridge, with all vehicles being diverted to Anderson Bridge. Anderson Bridge was constructed between 1908 and 1910, as a joint venture between the colonial government and the Municipality after the reclamation of the south bank of the Singapore River. Construction of bridge cost £50,000 and was carried out by Howarth Erskine Ltd while the abutments were built by the Westminster Construction Company Limited. The bridge comprises three steel arches with supporting steel ribs extending across them, two rusticated archways and a fluted pier at each end.

A Sydney Water plan dated 1911 also shows the original form and suggests that no external change had been undertaken to the buildings with the open areas across the northern site boundary clearly evident. It also indicates that the buildings to the north of the site, along the Gloucester Street frontage were demolished about this time to make way for the proposed terrace of 17 houses about to be erected by the Public Works Department at Nos. 127-152a Gloucester Street. The plan also shows a lane extending across the western site boundary and rear of the terrace sites and buildings facing Cumberland Street.

The Bucknam House is located on the north side of Main Street, facing south toward the Pleasant River. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, five bays wide, with a side gable roof, large central chimney, clapboard siding, and a granite foundation. Exterior styling is minimal, with simple cornerboards, and a simple entrance surround with crude pilasters and a pedimented entablature. The interior follows a typical central-chimney plan, with a narrow entrance vestibule with a winding staircase to the second floor, public rooms on either side of the chimney, and the kitchen extending across the central part of the rear with small rooms on either side.

A sloping floor is provided for the church - the average height of the interior walls from the floor being . Accommodation is provided for 350 persons with an additional 25 persons in the choir; which is semi-circular and raised in steps on a platform extending across the end of the church, one side of which is occupied by an ornamental rostrum. The seats throughout are of Queensland Kauri, having ornamental stall ends, slightly stained and varnished. A sliding door leading from the end of the church opens into the school block attached, which comprises a hall by , with a raised platform, six class rooms, ; grouped about the same.

Météo-France began highlighting the potential for tropical cyclone development in their daily bulletins on 25 November, noting an increase in shower activity west of the Seychelles. Aided by the passage of a Kelvin wave and a favourable window in the Madden–Julian oscillation, a broad trough of low pressure began to take shape within the storm activity, extending across the equator. Projections from computer models remained in disagreement over the system's future, complicated by the concurrent development of a tropical disturbance in the northwestern Indian Ocean along the same trough. A loosely-defined wind circulation was detected south of Mahe, Seychelles on 29 November, offset from convection.

Between May and June 2019, an extended sequence of heavy rainfall events over the South Central United States caused historic flooding along the Arkansas River and its tributaries. Major and record river flooding occurred primarily in northeastern Oklahoma, and the elevated flows continued downstream into Arkansas where the caused additional inundation. Antecedent soil moisture levels and water levels in lakes and streams were already high from previous rains, priming the region for significant runoff and flooding. The prolonged combination of high atmospheric moisture and a sustained weather pattern extending across the continental United States led to frequent high-yield rainfall over the Arkansas River watershed.

The 1987 reorganisation of the Army Reserve, involving a reduction in the number of infantry battalions across Australia, brought about a linking of the 3rd and 4th Battalions, and a public ceremony on 26 September of that year marked the presence of the new 4/3 RNSWR. The new battalion, now extending across south-eastern New South Wales, has continued its standard training programmes in pursuit of its operational readiness objectives. Significant groups of unit members attended the Royal Regiment of Wales Tercentenary celebrations in Cardiff, in 1989, and the 75th Anniversary Commemoration at Gallipoli in 1990, and the unit has had ongoing involvement in Australian and overseas exercise training programmes.

The Benton Grange is located in the village center of the town, at the northeast corner of River Road and School Drive. It is a long rectangular two story wood frame structure, with a hip roof, clapboard siding, and a concrete block foundation. The narrow front facade is three bays wide, with a hip-roofed single-story porch extending across it, supported by bracketed turned posts in the Queen Anne style. Above the porch three sash windows are symmetrically placed, and there is a hip-roof dormer projecting from the roof above, adorned with a wooden panel identifying the building and its year of construction.

Early reports of test transmissions on 11.023 GHz H 23000 DVB-S2 suggest the beam is very tight with a very sharp fall off to the west and east of the footprint, but eastern Spain seems to be getting a higher signal strength possibly due to the off-axis beam as 28.2°E on the geostationary arc is not directly in line with the UK but offset to the east. C. crangon has a wide range, extending across the northeastern Atlantic Ocean from the White Sea in the north of Russia to the coast of Morocco, including the Baltic Sea, as well as occurring throughout the Mediterranean and Black Seas. Despite its wide range, however, little gene flow occurs across certain natural barriers, such as the Strait of Gibraltar or the Bosphorus. The populations in the western Mediterranean Sea are thought to be the oldest, with the species' spread across the north Atlantic thought to postdate the Pleistocene. Adults live epibenthically (on or near the sea- floor) especially in the shallow waters of estuaries or near the coast.

The Jiri plain is an area of gravel plain extending across areas of Southern Ras Al Khaimah, Eastern Sharjah and Western Fujairah, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The area, some 15 miles in length and 8 miles in breadth, is triangulated with the villages of Khatt and Habhab to the North; Adhen to the East and Dhaid to the South. To the West the plain is enclosed by sand dunes. The soil of the Jiri plain is darkened by debris brought down by seasonal waters from the mountains, which helps to define its rich, loamy character and high carbonate content (from the outwash of Cretaceous limestone).

In the mid-1960s, construction began on the Keeler Street Expressway, a limited-access highway extending across Irondequoit from the Genesee River (at the Veterans Memorial Bridge) to the Sea Breeze Expressway. The first section from North Goodman Street to the Sea Breeze Expressway was completed by 1968 while the remainder opened in late 1969. The name of the expressway was derived from Keeler Street, a small residential street that originally connected to East Ridge Road and St. Paul Street by way of a traffic circle on the east bank of the Genesee River. The street was turned into a dead-end street as a result of the expressway's construction.

The entrance is sheltered by a porch extending across the bay's width, with a decorative wooden frieze below the roof between its square posts. The building originally had other period details, including bracketing in the eaves and vertical board finish on the projecting bay, but these have been lost or obscured due to the application of modern siding. The house was built about 1890, early in the development of Oak Hill as a streetcar suburb serving workers in the city's downtown and southern factories. Catherine Ronayne was the first documented owner; tenants in the early decades include a machinist, firefighter, and shoe factory worker.

Poehler returned on December 6, 2008 in the John Malkovich hosted episode and made her final appearance as a cast member the following week on the Hugh Laurie hosted episode on December 13, 2008. The Lord Block is located on the southern half of Lisbon Street, Lewiston's main business district, at the southwest corner of Lisbon and Cedar Streets. It is a 2-1/2 story masonry structure, built out of load-bearing brick with granite trim, with a front-facing gable roof that has a cross gable on the north side. The front has two virtually identical storefronts, each with a recessed entrance on the left and a plate glass display window to the right. The doors and windows are separated by rusticated granite piers, with a modern awning now extending across both storefronts and on to the adjacent building.

The Roosevelt School building is set on the south side of Maine Route 161, about east of the St. John Bible Church in the northwestern part of the small community. It is a single-story wood-frame structure, which is roughly rectangular in plan, with a projection extending across much of its front (north-facing) facade, and a small gable- roofed entry porch in front of that. The main block has a hip roof, which is continued over this projection, and there is a shed-roof dormer. The projecting section houses vestibules, closets, and bathroom facilities, and the main space is divided into two classrooms.

United Airlines and Delta Air Lines) have route networks extending across the Pacific and Atlantic, but none of them currently offer through flights from Europe to Australia. Air Canada flies to Sydney and Brisbane from Vancouver using the airline's new Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft. Air Canada has flown to Melbourne with its seasonal service from 3 December 2017 to 4 February 2018, however, they will return with a year-round service by 3 June 2018. Connecting flights are available on Air Canada to London Heathrow Airport, Frankfurt and with Star Alliance partner Lufthansa to Frankfurt and Munich (though these flights currently only operate on a seasonal basis in summer).

The Andrew Hunter House, also known as the Hunter-Dearborn House, is a historic house Arkansas Highway 5, a short way east of its junction with Arkansas Highway 183 in Bryant, Arkansas. It is a single-story wood frame house, three bays wide, with a hip roof and a hip-roofed porch extending across part of its front, supported by four Tuscan columns. A pedimented pavilion projects above the entry steps from the porch. The house's construction date is uncertain (it may contain elements of an 1830s house within it), but its appearance is derived from alterations in the 1870s and early 20th century.

A portion of an open colonnade of fluted Doric columns (once extending across the entire facade and covered by an arbor trellis, all since removed) projects in front of the entrance. The interior retains many original features, including elegant woodwork, a butler's pantry with original cabinets, and a library with panelled walls and fine oak shelving. with Maxwell Evarts was the son of William M. Evarts, a prominent lawyer notable for (among other accomplishments) his role in the impeachment of Andrew Johnson. The younger Evarts followed his father into the profession, also moving in high political circles due to his involvement with the Union Pacific Railroad.

Santo Domingo has a thriving middle class contrasting with the significant pockets of poverty that remain as challenges for the future. Marginalized slum conditions exist mostly in the northeast quadrant of the city with smaller pockets extending across the city. Areas of extensive development include the Poligono Central, which is bordered by the Avenida John F. Kennedy northward 27 February Avenue south, Avenida Winston Churchill to the west and Avenida Máximo Gómez to the east, and is characterized by its mixed development and its very active nightlife. Santo Domingo has areas of high development, among them Serralles, Naco, Arroyo Hondo, Piantini, Urb Fernandez, Ens.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 125.5 square miles (325.0 km2), of which, 25.5 square miles (66.0 km2) of it is land and 100.0 square miles (259.0 km2) of it (79.69%) is water. The land area is composed of Plum Island, Detroit Island, Washington Island, Hog Island, Pilot Island, Fish Island, and Rock Island. Washington Island is the largest in a chain of islands (which are collectively referred to as the Potawatomi Islands) extending across Lake Michigan between the Door Peninsula in Wisconsin and the Garden Peninsula in Delta County, Michigan. These islands are outcroppings of the Niagara Escarpment.

On October 16, 2014, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center issued its U.S. Winter Outlook. This outlook indicated that below-average temperatures in parts of the south-central and southeastern United States would be favored, with above-average temperatures favored in the western U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, and New England. Drought conditions were expected to improve in California's southern and northwestern regions, but no improvements were expected earlier than December or January. Above-average conditions were also expected to pervade the winter months in the western U.S., the Intermountain West extending across the U.S.–Canada border through New York and New England, and Alaska and Hawaii.

The interior follows a fairly typical central chimney plan, with a narrow vestibule that has a winding staircase in front of the chimney, parlor spaces on either side, and the kitchen extending across most of the rear. The interior retains original floorboards, wainscoting, and interior window shutters, and includes paneled fireplace surrounds in the parlors. Its builder is unknown; the house and associated farm property were probably purchased by Washington Mooney around the time of his 1831 marriage. Despite adaptive reuse of the property in the 20th century for office space, and a succession of owners, the basic fabric of the building has remained little altered.

That facade is five bays wide, with an open single-story piazza extending across the center three bays, supported by round columns, and steps descending to the ground across its width and sides. The main entrance is flanked by sidelight windows and topped by a Federal style fanlight window, into which the date "1785" has been etched. The interior of the house retains elegant Federal period finishes, including two staircases, fireplace mantels, and wooden wainscoting, which on the ground floor consists of single planks of pine, in width. The house was built in 1785 by John Brewer, a prominent local shipbuilder, who also served as the local postmaster.

The Baxter House stands one block off the downtown area of the village of Hyannis, on the south side of South Street at its junction with Pearl Street. The house is located on the west side of its lot, with the smaller carriage house to the east. The house is two stories, with stuccoed concrete walls thick, and a bracketed flat roof topped by an octagonal cupola. Two of its eight sides have entrances: the one facing the street is a simpler entrance sheltered by a bracketed hood, while that facing east is sheltered by a single-story porch extending across that facade, with a spindled balustrade and turned posts.

The J.S. Sweeney Store is located prominently in the center of the village of East Charleston, on the south side of Vermont 105 opposite the village's other principal public building, the Plymouth Congregational Church. It is a 2-1/2 story wood-frame structure, with a front gable roof and clapboarded exterior. The front facade has a wider first floor than second, with a two-story recessed porch extending across its width, supported by square paneled posts with Doric capitals. The porch continues over the left-side extension of the ground floor, where it is sheltered by a shed-roof extension of the main roof.

Vandalism was also a factor in such a remote location.

In 2008, the B612 Foundation made estimates of Apophis's path if a 2036 Earth impact were to occur, as part of an effort to develop viable deflection strategies. Extending across the north and south side of the Alps, Switzerland lies at the junction of the Apulian and Eurasian tectonic plates, and there are many active seismic areas under the mountains that show that stresses continue to be released along deep fault lines. The 1356 Basel earthquake is the most significant seismological event to have occurred in Central Europe in recorded history"The most damaging intra-plate earthquake known to have occurred in central Europe", according to (Risk Management Solutions) 1356 Basel Earthquake: 650-year Retrospective, 2006. and may have had a Mw magnitude as strong as 7.1. Between 2002 and 2004 a major study was conducted to assess the seismic risk to Swiss nuclear power plants.

After the Scinde Dawk, Colonel Forbes of the Calcutta Mint came up with an essay for a postage stamp depicting a lion and palm tree. This, and several other essays, were never printed because Forbes could not ensure an adequate supply with the limited machinery at hand. Arriva Trains Northern operated a mix of long distance regional, local urban and rural passenger services in the North of England and Yorkshire and the Humber extending across the Pennines. The network extended from Carlisle and Chathill in the north to Sunderland, Scarborough, Hull and Cleethorpes on the east coast down to Sheffield and across to Manchester, Liverpool, Blackpool and Morecambe on the West Coast. Arriva Trains Northern's non TransPennine Express routes were similar to Northern Rail's current routes 1-5, 7 and 8. A daily Leeds to Glasgow Central via the Settle & Carlisle and West Coast Main Lines service was introduced in September 1999, the first time such a service had operated since 1982.

Area of responsibility encompasses approximately 180,000 square miles of water and land extending across Southeast Alaska from Dixon Entrance to Icy Bay (Alaska), and from the Alaskan-Canadian border to the central Gulf of Alaska. This includes 12,000 miles of coastline distinguished by a rugged coast, mountainous terrain, severe weather, and many remote villages. Today, Air Station Sitka utilizes three MH-60T Jayhawk helicopters and has 130 officers, enlisted, and civilian personnel. Each helicopter is crewed by two pilots, a flight mechanic, and a rescue swimmer, has a 125-knot cruise speed, and 700-mile range. In a “ready” or “alert” status 24 hours a day for national defense, search and rescue.

The West Dennis Graded School is set at the southwest corner of School and Pond Streets, a short way south of the main village area of West Dennis. It is a two-story wood frame structure, rectangular in shape, with a side gable roof, brick foundation, wooden clapboards on two sides, and wooden shingles finishing the other sides. The front facade, facing School Street, is symmetrically arranged, with a hip-roofed single-story porch extending across its width, supported by six Tuscan columns. The first floor bays are not evenly spaced, with two entrances, each flanked on its outer side by a sash window, set away from the center, while the upper floor has four evenly spaced sash windows.

The Aiken House is located at the corner of King and Ann Streets on the west side of the main section. It is an 1807 Federal Adamesque wood frame house, two stories high, with a two-story porch extending across its southern facade. It is where the South Carolina Canal and Rail Road Company was founded in 1827, with William Aiken, an Irish immigrant, as its first president. Construction of the railroad line took place between 1830 and 1833, marred by the death of Aiken when horses drawing his carriage were frightened by construction-related noises, overturning it, and also by the explosion of the Best Friend of Charleston, the first American-made steam locomotive.

" In 2000 the focus of Living Landscapes was on the Upper Fraser Basin, a "vast area extending across most of south-central British Columbia including the Fraser River valley upstream from Big Bar Creek, as well as it is tributary drainages such as the Chilcotin, Quesnel, and Nechako Rivers." During 2001-2002 RBCM hosted five Upper Fraser Basin communities including, Valemount, British Columbia, Burns Lake, Williams Lake, Quesnel and Prince George attended by approximately 4,500 people. Visitors met and interacted with local Living Landscapes researchers and Victoria-based RBCM curators. The events featured exhibits from the RBCM's permanent collections as well as "illustrated talks and demonstrations on a variety of topics by local and museum experts.

John Tuzo Wilson (October 24, 1908 – April 15, 1993) was a Canadian geophysicist and geologist who achieved worldwide acclaim for his contributions to the theory of plate tectonics. Plate tectonics is the idea that the rigid outer layers of the Earth (crust and part of the upper mantle), the lithosphere, is broken up into around 13 pieces or "plates" that move independently over the weaker asthenosphere. Wilson maintained that the Hawaiian Islands were created as a tectonic plate (extending across much of the Pacific Ocean) shifted to the northwest over a fixed hotspot, spawning a long series of volcanoes. He also conceived of the transform fault, a major plate boundary where two plates move past each other horizontally (e.g.

Tumor endothelial cells (TECs) have been documented to demonstrate abnormal morphologic characteristics such as ragged margins and irregular cytoplasmic projections. In normal blood vessels, it is known that endothelial cells form regular monolayers with tight junctions without overlap, but TECs create disorganized and loosely connected monolayers, often branching and extending across the lumen to overlap with their neighbors. The tumor endothelium is often described as mosaic due to its aberrant expression of traditional endothelial cell markers (CD31 and CD105), supporting the existence of irregular gaps between endothelial cells. At a more macro level, beyond the observation of small intercellular openings between nearby TECs, larger gaps in the walls of tumor blood vessels have been described.

The forewings are olivaceous leaden grey, with a fuscous dot close to the base of the cell, a slightly oblique dorsal streak at about one- sixth, extending across the fold, brownish fuscous, margined on either side with rich ferruginous scales. An obscure dot in the fold beyond its middle is followed by a discal dot above it, and another at the end of the cell. A rich ferruginous band crosses the wing at the commencement of the cilia, its upper and lower extremities shaded obliquely inward with dark brown. There is a series of small fuscous spots around the termen and apex at the base of the glaucous cilia, which are tipped with pale cinereous.

The district is heavily populated with art galleries, specialty shops, pubs, nightclubs, and coffee shops. Most of its tightly packed brick buildings date from at least the early 20th century, with traditional storefronts along High Street (often with brightly painted murals on their side walls), and old apartment buildings and rowhouses and newer condominium developments in the surrounding blocks. The city installed 17 lighted metal archways extending across High Street throughout the Short North, reminiscent of such arches present in the area in the early 1900s. The area is also known to be a very gay- and lesbian-friendly neighborhood which contains numerous gay nightclubs and bars and hosts the annual Columbus gay pride parade.

The Lowestoft and Beccles Railway Act 1856 authorised a branch from a junction to the east of to South Side docks, as well as a short branch to a coal and goods depot at Kirkley. The line was known for a curious signal with an arm fixed at danger on both sides to warn drivers to take care. At Kirkley goods station, the single line fanned out into two groups of sidings: one on each side of the yard and both extending across Belvedere Road into the South Quay where wagon turntables were used to access the sidings. Another siding, reached only by turntable, ran parallel to the quay into Morton's cannery in Belvedere Road.

These in turn were retired in 1968, when diesel buses took over. In 1970, Broad Street was closed to all traffic except buses and for access, with through traffic diverted onto a one-way system and the first phase of the town's Inner Distribution Road. Broad Street was further pedestrianised in 1995, and the bus services that previously used it were diverted onto the loop route around the town's central area, using St Mary's Butts, Friar Street, Market Place and Minster Street. The street was subsequently remodelled with a red-brick surface extending across the whole width of the street, and with the inclusion of street trees, sculpture and licensed street traders.

Caroline Atoll lies near the southeastern end of the Line Islands, a string of atolls extending across the equator some south of the Hawaiian Islands in the central Pacific. The slightly crescent-shaped atoll (3.76 km2 or 1.45 mi2 in land area) consists of 39 separate islets surrounding a narrow lagoon, 8.7 by 1.2 km2 in size, or with an area of 6.3 km2. The total atoll area, including dry land, lagoon and reef flat, measures 13 by 2.5 km, or 24 km2.

The Guinean montane forests are a tropical moist broadleaf forest ecoregion of West Africa The ecoregion occupies the portions of the Guinea Highlands lying above 600 meters elevation, extending across portions of Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Côte d'Ivoire. It includes the Fouta Djallon plateau and the massifs of Ziama, Simandou, Tétini, Béro, Kourandou in Guinea, the Loma Mountains and Tingi Hills in Sierra Leone, the Nimba Range in Guinea, Liberia, and Côte d'Ivoire, and the Monts du Toura in Côte d'Ivoire. Mount Bintumani in the Loma Mountains is the highest peak in West Africa west of Mount Cameroon. The next highest peaks in the region are in the Sankan Biriwa massif (1850 meters) in the Tingi Hills.

Jean-Loïc Le Quellec, a doctor of anthropology, ethnology and prehistory, agrees with Rhotert. He has pointed out parallels to the Coffin Texts indicating that the figures are deceased souls floating in the waters of Nun. Due to similar artwork being found in nearby caves, such as the Cave of Beasts, and the continuous line that the figures create extending across a majority of the cave's interior has led researchers to believe that the cave art may display developing concepts that were later adapted to the configuration of the Nile valley. Substantial portions of the cave have been irreversibly damaged by visitors over the years, especially since the film was released in 1996.

Of the three groups of settlers on the north side of the Peninsula, only the Deans brothers appear to have come to an arrangement with the local Māori before occupying the land, and even this agreement does not appear to have been put in writing before 1845. William Deans however, always prepared to be on good terms with the Māori, possibly because he had taken the trouble to learn their language. As finally drafted in 1846 his agreement gave him a lease for 21 years of a tract of land extending across the plain ‘six miles in every direction’ from the tributaries of the Avon River. The rental was eight pounds a year.

During the Iberian union, the "first great wave" of the transatlantic slave trade happened, according to Enriqueta Vila Villar, as new markets opened because of the unification gave thrust to the slave trade. By 1600, the percentage of urban population for Spain was roughly a 11.4%, while for Portugal the urban population was estimated as 14.1%, which were both above the 7.6% European average of the time (edged only by the Low Countries and the Italian Peninsula). Some striking differences appeared among the different Iberian realms. Castile, extending across a 60% of the territory of the peninsula and having 80% of the population was a rather urbanised country, yet with a widespread distribution of cities.

Fort St. Michael was an installation of the United States Army at St. Michael, Alaska, on St. Michael Island in Norton Bay on the central west coast of Alaska. The fort was in active service between 1897 and 1925, and was originally established to maintain order during the Klondike Gold Rush for which St. Michael was a major transshipment point for people and goods moving up the Yukon River, whose mouth is nearby but is inaccessible to ocean-going ships. The installation later became the endpoint of the WAMCATS cable, a military communications cable extending across Alaska. Its importance declined substantially after the Alaska Railroad was completed in 1923, providing year- round service to the interior which was superior to the seasonal transport service of the river.

It has a nearly symmetrical six-bay facade, with a hip- roofed single-story porch extending across its width, and three gabled dormers projecting from the roof. Attached is an older 1-1/2 story ell, whose exterior has been altered to match that of the main block, but whose interior retains many original 18th-century features. The ell was built about 1780 by Nathan Bixby, a major landowner, Revolutionary War veteran, and prominent citizen of the town. In the late 19th century the house was acquired by George and Alice Upton, who in 1903 commissioned John Lawrence Mauran, a prominent Chicago architect, to design a Georgian Revival summer house, to which the older house was attached as a wing.

Although it is now an estuary, the Humber had a much longer freshwater course during the Ice Age, extending across what was the dry bed of the North Sea. The Humber features regularly in medieval British literature, in the Welsh Triads, the Humber is one of the three principal rivers of Britain (together with the Thames and the River Severn) and is continually mentioned throughout the Brut y Brenhinedd as a boundary between the southern kingdom (Lloegyr) and various northern kingdoms. In Geoffrey of Monmouth's 12th-century chronicle (), the Humber is named for "Humber the Hun", an invader who drowned there during battle in the earliest days of the chronicle. The Humber remained an important boundary throughout the Anglo-Saxon period, separating Northumbria from the southern kingdoms.

According to the Köppen system, Chile within its borders hosts at least seven major climatic subtypes, ranging from low desert in the north, to alpine tundra and glaciers in the east and southeast, tropical rainforest in Easter Island, Oceanic in the south and Mediterranean climate in central Chile. There are four seasons in most of the country: summer (December to February), autumn (March to May), winter (June to August), and spring (September to November).

A belt of Ordovician-Silurian rocks extends from Kittery to northeast of Bangor, with sandstone and slate in the east and gneiss and schist in the southwest. From southwest of Augusta to just south of Houlton, extending to the Canadian border are Silurian rocks, also found in a small area near Machias along the coast and in smaller areas further north. The Silurian rocks trend from marine shale in the north to gneiss and schist in the south west. A large area of the state, in a narrow belt from the New Hampshire line widening around Greenville and Millinocket and extending across much of northern Maine to Fort Kent is Devonian rock, including shale and sandstone in the north and gneiss and schist in the southwest.

The Sierra Nevada-Great Valley Block (SNGV) is a section of the earth's crust in California encompassing most of the region east of the Great Valley fault system which runs along the eastern foot of the Coast Ranges, and west of the Sierra Nevada Fault which runs along the foot of the Sierra Nevada's eastern scarp. To the south, the block is bounded by the Garlock Fault. The northern bound is not well defined at present, but generally runs along a line extending across the northern Sacramento Valley. The SNGV has been found to behave like a rigid body relative to the North American Plate to which it is somewhat loosely attached, for this reason it is sometimes referred to as Sierra Nevada microplate.

The Art Deco Men's Toilet Block is located in the northern corner of the reserve and fronts Mellor Street amid an elevated garden bed of native shrubs to the rear and sides at the corner of Alma Street. To the rear of the building is the Town Hall public carpark, the entrance of which is west of the toilet block. The Art Deco Men's Toilet Block is a small masonry T-shaped building with a stepped parapet concealing gabled roofs clad in corrugated pre- painted metal sheeting. It is constructed of mid-brown face brick on a concrete base and with painted cement rendered banding at shoulder height extending across the parapet at the front and continuous around the building to the fascia board.

Pen Cerrig-calch and Pen Allt-mawr in the south-west of the Black Mountains range The Black Mountains () are a group of hills spread across parts of Powys and Monmouthshire in southeast Wales, and extending across the England–Wales border into Herefordshire. They are the easternmost of the four ranges of hills that comprise the Brecon Beacons National Park, and are frequently confused with the westernmost, which is known as the Black Mountain. The Black Mountains may be roughly defined as those hills contained within a triangle defined by the towns of Abergavenny in the southeast, Hay-on-Wye in the north and the village of Llangors in the west. Other gateway towns to the Black Mountains include Talgarth and Crickhowell.

While this colour scheme has remained consistent throughout the history of the club, the shades of blue and gold have changed several times. The original Parramatta jersey used in 1947 was of a blue design with a single yellow hoop around the middle of the jersey, extending across the sleeves. This original design was altered in 1949 to a design based on blue and gold hoops and remained unchanged until the 1970s when a jersey comprising stripes on a predominantly blue or gold background was adopted. Over the years, the design has changed gradually from one based on blue and gold stripes to a design incorporating different blue and gold designs around the fringes of a predominantly blue or gold jersey.

Denham Court which is located in the local government areas of the City of Campbelltown and City of Liverpool placed on south west of the Sydney Central Business District. Originally, this building was a single-storey house but around 1832 to 1833, Captain Richard Brooks as an architect was enlarging this house by adding two- storey wings with two flanking bow-fronted one storey room. This court is regency influenced with trim lines, stucco walls, and the simple shallowly recessed panels projecting porch. Denham Court’s room is 14 feet high with a geometrical stair along the west wall of the house and also there is a large living hall that extending across the width of the house between the bows fronted.

Maungahaumi is a mountain in the Raukumara Range in the northeast of New Zealand's North Island. Part of the backbone of the range, which forms part of a line of mountains extending across much of the North Island, 1213 metre (3979 ft) Maungahaumi is the southernmost of the Raukumara Range's four major peaks. To the southwest of the peak is a saddle separating the Raukumara Range from the Huiarau Range - this saddle, with its highest point at the 725 metre Traffords Hill, is crossed by State Highway 2, the main road link between Gisborne and Opotiki in the Bay of Plenty. Several rivers have their sources on the slopes of Maungahaumi, including the Motu River and several tributaries of the Waipaoa River.

The wingspan is 15–16 mm. The forewings are whitish ochreous, much sprinkled and smeared with smoky fuscous. In addition to some general irroration, a costal shade, extending from one-fifth to beyond the middle, is followed by another costal patch, or shade, before the apex, from which arises, on its outer side, a series of fuscous spots, continued around the apex and termen, and from its lower edge a second series, more or less confluent, bowed outward and reverting to the dorsum about the tornus; there are two dark shade-patches also on the dorsum, one before and one beyond the middle, other scattered dark scaling extending across the cell. The hindwings are rather shining, greyish fuscous.Biol. centr.-amer. Lep.

The Madygen Formation (Russian: Madygen Svita) is a Late Triassic (Carnian) geologic formation and Lagerstätte in the Batken and Osh Regions of western Kyrgyzstan, with minor outcrops in neighboring Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The conglomerates, sandstones and mudstones of the thick formation were deposited in terrestrial lacustrine, alluvial, fluvial and deltaic environments. The formation, extending across the Fergana Valley and Fergana Range, is unique for Central Asia, as it represents one of the few known continental deposits and the Madygen Formation is renowned for the preservation of more than 20,000 fossil insects, making it one of the richest Triassic Lagerstätten in the world. Other vertebrate fossils as fish, amphibians, reptiles and synapsids have been recovered from the formation too, as well as minor fossil flora.

The field developed a large body of work during the early 1990s, Fishkin describes it extending across the disciplines of "literary criticism, history, cultural studies, sociology, anthropology, popular culture, communication studies, music history, art history, dance history, humor studies, philosophy, linguistics, and folklore". As of 2004, according to The Washington Post, at least 30 institutions in the United States including Princeton University, the University of California at Los Angeles, the University of New Mexico and University of Massachusetts Amherst offer, or have offered, courses in whiteness studies. Teaching and research around whiteness often overlap with research on post-colonial theory and orientalism taking place in the Arts and Humanities, Sociology, Literature, Communications, and Cultural and Media Studies faculties and departments, among others (e.g. Kent, Leeds).

Between East Providence and Taunton, the road was part of yet another turnpike, the Taunton and Providence Turnpike, running along modern Taunton Avenue and Winthrop Street. In 1922, when the New England states first assigned route numbers to its main thoroughfares, the route from Putnam through Providence and Taunton to Plymouth was designated as Route 101. Route 101 extended across Rhode Island and Massachusetts along modern US 44, with an extension into Connecticut along an alignment different from US 44. In 1932, Connecticut relocated its Route 101 to the modern US 44 alignment, with the route now extending across the three states from North Canaan in Connecticut to Plymouth in Massachusetts. In 1935, the multi-state Route 101 was incorporated into newly designated US 44.

In the GreatWold Valley, at Willow Garth, to the west of Boynton, pollen samples of Mesolithic date, indicate that the forest cover in this area was being altered by man, and that open grasslands were being made to create grazing areas to which animals would be attracted thus making hunting easier. In the Yorkshire Wolds there are thousands of Iron Age square barrows and hundreds of farmsteads and settlements, droveways, tracks and field systems. There is a profusion of Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age and Romano-British sites extending across the entire Wolds area. Some Mesolithic sites are known on the chalklands of the Yorkshire Wolds, at Craike Hill (Eastburn Warren), Garton Slack, Huggate Dykes, Huggate Wold, and Octon Wold.

Howell was promoted captain in August 1906, and was given the job of Intelligence Officer (as Staff Captain) for the North West Frontier region, where his intuitive knowledge of local Pathan politics played their part. On his own initiative he set up a network of "spies" in the local villages extending across to Turkestan and Kashgar, as resembling characters from Rudyard Kipling's contemporary novel,"Kim". In 1909, Howell was brigade major to Major General Sir Malcolm Grover in India. Between 1909 and 1911 Howell served as a GSO3 staff officer to the Inspector-General of Cavalry, British Army (Major General Edmund Allenby) at the War Office in London, with frequent intermittent visits to the Balkans, as special correspondent with The Times.

The C.E. Forrester House is a historic house at 140 Danville Road in Waldron, Arkansas. It is a two-story wood frame I-house, with an attached single-story wing extending from the rear of the center, giving it a common T-shaped plan. The original front facade has a two-story gable-roofed porch extending across part of it, while the south-facing side of the wing, now serving as the main entrance, has a vernacular Craftsman-style porch with a shed roof extending along its length. The house was built in 1896, with the wing added by 1904; it was built by Charlie Forrester, an Arkansas native who operated a number of retail and commercial business in Waldron.

The Transcaucasian Democratic Federative Republic (TDFR; 22 April 28 May 1918) also known as the Transcaucasian Federation, was a short-lived South Caucasian state extending across what are now the modern-day countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, plus parts of eastern Turkey as well as Russian border areas. The state only lasted for a month before Georgia declared independence, followed shortly by Azerbaijan and Armenia. The region that formed the TDFR had been part of the Russian Empire, and the 1917 February Revolution saw the empire dissolved and a Provisional Government formed in Russia. A similar body was formed in the Caucasus, the Special Transcaucasian Committee (Ozakom), but with the October Revolution and rise of the Bolsheviks in Russia the Transcaucasian Commissariat was formed to replace the Ozakom.

Non-tornadic severe thunderstorms also did serious damage in Berrien, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, and Allegan counties. On August 24, following conditions similar to the previous day, an EF3 tornado with "winds near " formed two miles (3 km) north of Charlotte, Michigan, doing severe damage along Vermontville Highway, passing through Potterville, and crossing I-69 in Eaton County before dissipating as it approached Dimondale, touching down around 4:25 pm EDT and leaving a damage path varying from to wide and long. Around 4:55 pm EDT, the same storm produced an EF1 tornado which touched down at the intersection of Waverly Road and M-99 in southeastern Lansing, extending across I-96, towards the intersections of Aurelius Road with Jolly Road and Dunkel Road before finally dissipating near the Jolly Road interchange on I-496.

The Antarctic Convergence is a zone approximately wide, varying in latitude seasonally and in different longitudes, extending across the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans between the 48th and 61st parallels of south latitude. Although the northern boundary varies, for the purposes of the Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources 1980, it is defined as "50°S, 0°; 50°S, 30°E; 45°S, 30°E; 45°S, 80°E; 55°S, 80°E; 55°S, 150°E; 60°S, 150°E; 60°S, 50°W; 50°S, 50°W; 50°S, 0°."Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources 1980, Article 1(4). Although this zone is a mobile one, it usually does not stray more than half a degree of latitude from its mean position.

The British South Africa Company was responsible for building the Rhodesian railway system in the period of primary construction which ended in 1911, when the main line through Northern Rhodesia reached the Congo border and the Katanga copper mines. Rhodes' original intention was for a railway extending across the Zambesi to Lake Tanganyika, popularly considered as part of a great "Cape to Cairo" railway linking all the British colonies of Africa. Rhodes was as much a capitalist in his motivation as a visionary, and when little gold was found in Mashonaland, he accepted that even the scheme to reach Lake Tanganyika had no economic justification. Railways built by private companies without government subsidies need enough of the type of traffic that can pay high freight rates to recover their construction costs.

The oldest portion, the central chimney and the rooms to its right, are estimated to have been built between 1662 and 1673, based in part on the use of roof constructions methods derived from East Anglian practices that fell out of favor after that time. The left side rooms were built later in the 17th century, using different roof construction techniques, as was a leanto section extending across the width of the house. The leanto was demolished in the early 20th century, but preservationist William Sumner Appleton was able to acquire some architectural elements for the collections of the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities (now Historic New England). The house was built either by John Brown Sr., who acquired the land in 1662, or his son Nathaniel, who was the next owner.

As he drilled he began to discover ways he could improve the equipment. He invented an improved drill bit with a dovetail groove in the side with a hole extending across the groove with a shank, key, and screw. He intended to continue as a contract driller and use his improvements to make his drilling business more competitive. After encountering layers of hard rock in the Coalinga area, Baker developed an offset bit for cable tool drilling that made it easier to get casing down a freshly drilled hole. Baker and his brother Aaron formed the Coalinga Petroleum Company on January 23, 1905, capitalized with USD$75,000, initially owning six wells in Fresno County, They sold the business to Samuel Allen "Al" Guiberson, Jr. on December 20, 1920.

The art installation consisted of a veiled fence long extending across the hills of Sonoma and Marin counties in northern California, United States. The high fence was made of 200,000 square meters (2,222,222 square feet) of heavy woven white nylon fabric, which created 2,050 panels, and was hung from steel cables by means of 350,000 hooks. The cables were supported by 2,050 steel poles (each: 6.4 meters / 21 feet long or 9 centimeters / 3.5 inches in diameter) embedded 1 meter (3 feet) into the ground, braced by steel guy wires (145 kilometers / 90 miles of steel cable), 14,000 earth anchors, and without any concrete. The route of the fence began near U.S. Highway 101 and crossed 14 roads and the private property of 59 ranchers to reach the Pacific Ocean near Bodega Bay.

In Telangana, the dry deciduous forests cover much of the state, including Hyderabad, the state capital, with a small portion extending across the Eastern Ghats to the Bay of Bengal in Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh. The xeric Deccan thorn scrub forests lie to the west, south, and southeast, covering the drier portions of the plateau in the rain shadow of the Western Ghats. The more humid Eastern Highlands moist deciduous forests lie to the northeast and east, while the Narmada Valley dry deciduous forests lie across the Satpuras to the northwest. The Godavari River crosses the ecoregion from its source in the Western Ghats and indeed most of the rivers on the plateau drain east towards the Bay of Bengal, with the exception of the Tapti River in the northwestern corner of the plateau, which drains westward into the Arabian Sea.

In 1707 the Lao kingdom of Lan Xang fragmented into rival kingdoms – Vientiane, Luang Prabang, and 5 years later into a third Champasak —- as a result of a dispute over the succession to the throne. The Kingdom of Vientiane was the strongest, with its influence extending across the Khorat Plateau (now in modern Thailand) and in conflict with the Kingdom of Luang Prabang for control of the Xieng Khouang Plateau (on the border of modern Vietnam). Between the 1760s and 1770s, the neighboring kingdoms of Siam and Burma competed for alliances with the Lao kingdoms, due to the bitter rivalry and history of warfare between the two Southeast Asian powers. For both Siam and Burma, an alliance with the Lao would strengthened their position against their rival by increasing their own forces and denying them to the enemy.

In addition, the drum set sometimes requires the player to hit two notes at once, and the touch screen portions must be played manually; at this point the game receives a drastic increase in difficulty, and essentially turns the Nintendo DS into a musical instrument. As a song progresses, the top screen scrolls through one bar at a time (one stretching across the screen horizontally, and the next few bars shown below it). A cursor moves to show where in the song the player currently is, and as the cursor moves over a note's "head", the aim is to press the button displayed on that head, and if necessary holding it down until the end of the "tail". Adding further to the uncertainty is the fact that the Alsophilinae, usually treated as a small subfamily in their own right, might be a specialized lineage of Boarmiini; though their caterpillars are quite different, their pupae have a peculiar T-shaped cremaster which very much resembles that of the Boarmiini.Holloway (1994), Young (2008) Boarmiini in the narrow sense are typically slender geometer moths that rest with the wings spread out flatly and do not tuck the hindwings under the forewings while at rest. Typically, they are cryptically colored and rather dark, with brownish-grey hues predominating; in many, there are two or three weak wavy bands extending across the wings and forming a rough semicircle when the moths are at rest. Though they all look quite similar in habitus, there are few unequivocal characters that can be easily used to recognize adult members of this tribe.

Baltic Way 1989 demonstration in Šiauliai, Lithuania showing coffins decorated with national flags of the three Baltic republics placed symbolically beneath Soviet and Nazi flags The Baltic Way or Baltic Chain (also Chain of Freedom , , , ) was a peaceful political demonstration on August 23, 1989. An estimated 2 million people joined hands to form a human chain extending across Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, which had been forcibly reincorporated into the Soviet Union in 1944. The colossal demonstration marked the 50th anniversary of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact that divided Eastern Europe into spheres of influence and led to the occupation of the Baltic states in 1940. Just months after the Baltic Way protests, in December 1989, the Congress of People's Deputies accepted—and Gorbachev signed—the report by the Yakovlev Commission condemning the secret protocols of the Molotov–Ribbentrop pact which led to the annexations of the three Baltic republics.

A black costal spot is found before the middle, followed by a larger one, somewhat quadrangular, beyond the middle, after which three small black dots are found along the base of the costal cilia, followed in turn by an oblique black apical streak. A conspicuous outwardly oblique black dorsal patch arises immediately beyond the flexus, extending across the fold before its middle and there is a broken black streak along the outer half of the cell, a dorsal spot before the tornus, three or four small black spots along the termen, and one or two others just beyond the cell, enclosed by a faintly indicated whitish line, strongly bent outward, passing from the costal to the dorsal cilia. The terminal cilia is whitish ochreous, minutely dusted with black which forms a faint line running through them beyond their middle. The dorsal cilia is greyish ochreous.

The USAAF IV Air Corps Depot was also established in Townsville, its principal functions being the assembly, repair and servicing of USAAF aircraft operating throughout the South-West Pacific theatre of war. Large maintenance hangars were built alongside the runway north of the original RAAF base. In an ingenious attempt to conceal the air base from aerial observation, a pattern of streets and houses resembling the neighbouring suburb was painted over the southern end of the runways, but this camouflage either looked unconvincing or was thought unnecessary, for it was abandoned within a few months. The facilities required for aircraft assembly and repair work soon extended far beyond the perimeter of the original Townsville airfield, and during 1942, new airstrips were built at Aitkenvale (or Weir) and Stockroute, with a huge complex of hangars, workshops and dispersal taxiways extending across what are now the suburbs of Vincent, Heatley, Mount Louisa, Kirwan and Condon.

The District Council of Munno Para East and District Council of Munno Para West were established in 1853 and 1854, respectively, bringing local government to the whole hundred. In 1899 a part of the council of Munno Para West was severed to be the District Council of Gawler South and later merged with the Corporate Town of Gawler in 1933. The remainder of the council of Munno Para West was abolished in the same year, with part going to the Gawler municipality, part to the new District Council of Salisbury and the remainder merging with Munno Para East council to form the new District Council of Munno Para, extending across the entire hundred from west to east with the exception of Salisbury encroaching in the southwest corner and Gawler occupying the north eastern corner. The Munno Para council was based at Smithfield in the centre of the hundred and directly beside the main road north.

In 1976 she was awarded a John Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship for Sociology. Abu-Lughod received over a dozen prestigious national government fellowships and grants to research in the areas of demography, urban sociology, urban planning, economic and social development, world systems, and urbanization in the United States, the Middle East and the Third World. She was especially well-known for her monograph Before European Hegemony: The World System A.D. 1250-1350 wherein she argued that a pre-modern world system extending across Eurasia existed in the 13th Century, prior to the formation of the modern world-system identified by Immanuel Wallerstein. In addition, she argued that the "rise of the West," beginning with the intrusion of armed Portuguese ships into the relatively peaceful trade networks of the Indian Ocean in the 16th century, was not a result of features internal to Europe, but was made possible by a collapse in the previous world system.

When the river was made navigable as far as Mack's mill, and a good tow-path constructed on one bank, the company were entitled to demand toll not exceeding seventy-five cents per ton for the whole distance, and in proportion for a less distance. Parties owning water-power on the river below the east line of Oakland County were required to construct locks at every dam sufficient for the passage of the company's boats. The river above the said line was declared by the act of incorporation a public highway, but persons owning land extending across the river had the right to construct dams for water-power purposes by putting in the necessary locks, or the company could construct them at the expense of the parties owning the lands. The improvements were finally completed as far as Rochester, a portion of the State loan of five millions being appropriated to the work.

A man wearing trousers Trousers or pants (North American English) are an item of clothing that might have originated in Central Asia, worn from the waist to the ankles, covering both legs separately (rather than with cloth extending across both legs as in robes, skirts, and dresses). Outside North America, the word pants generally means underwear and not trousers. Shorts are similar to trousers, but with legs that come down only to around the area of the knee, higher or lower depending on the style of the garment. To distinguish them from shorts, trousers may be called "long trousers" in certain contexts such as school uniform, where tailored shorts may be called "short trousers", especially in the UK. The oldest known trousers were found at the Yanghai cemetery in Turpan, Xinjiang, western China and dated to the period between the 10th and the 13th centuries BC. Made of wool, the trousers had straight legs and wide crotches and were likely made for horseback riding.

As early as 11 January, long-range ensemble forecast guidance from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts suggested the possibility of a storm forming over the Mozambique Channel. A low-pressure area eventually formed over southern Africa by 18 January, and was forecast by the MFR to develop within the channel as part of a complex series of developing low-pressure minima along a monsoon trough extending across Madagascar. A centre of circulation of monsoonal character began to develop on 22 January between Juan de Nova Island and the western Malagasy coast, prompting the MFR to designate the system as Zone of Disturbed Weather 06. The incipient disturbance tracked eastward across Madagascar, maintaining a corridor of strong winds. By the afternoon of 23 January, the centre of the system emerged over the Indian Ocean. The system then began to slowly consolidate with the aid of warm ocean waters, with the MFR upgrading it to a tropical depression on 24 January.

Short range plans include the construction of additional lanes to match the rebuilt, higher capacity Dolphin-Palmetto Interchange, with SR 826. A planned third extension (southward to Southwest 136th Street) is currently being considered, though may have been replaced with the widening of the rural surface road Krome Avenue to four lanes. The Dolphin Expressway will be home to two of the state's three diverging-diamond interchanges after the reconstruction of two exits at Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest 57th Avenue. Long-term plans in the 2020s call for a double-decker span of SR 836 (from NW 17 Avenue, rising over the center of the existing SR 836 roadway, and touching down at I-395, east of the I-95 interchange), and a complete replacement of the I-395 sector (from I-95 to the MacArthur Causeway), with a new "signature" cable-stayed bridge extending across it and over Biscayne Boulevard.

The northern passage (this time extending across the length of the room) was restored by 1865. An open doorframe in the south wall provided access to the bedroom to the south. Harding and his wife, Florence; President Calvin Coolidge and his wife, Grace; and President Herbert Hoover and his wife, Lou. It was used as a sitting room by first ladies Eleanor Roosevelt and Bess Truman.

On 20 December 2001, Russia made an official submission into the UN Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (article 76, paragraph 8). In the document it is proposed to establish new outer limits of the continental shelf of Russia beyond the previous 200 nautical mile zone (370 km), but within the Russian Arctic sector. What is now NY 86 from Paul Smiths to Jay via Saranac Lake and Lake Placid was originally part of the Theodore Roosevelt International Highway, an auto trail extending across the North American continent from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. When the first set of posted routes in New York were assigned in 1924, NY 3 was assigned to the entirety of the highway within New York. NY 3 remained in place up to the 1930 renumbering of state highways in New York when it was rerouted onto its modern alignment through the North Country. The portion of former NY 3 from Harrietstown to Jay, as well as a section of former NY 10 (modern NY 186) from Harrietstown to Lake Clear, was redesignated as NY 86. North of Harrietstown, the former alignment of NY 3 became NY 408 from Harrietstown to Gabriels and the western half of NY 192 from Gabriels to Paul Smiths. NY 408 was co-designated as part of NY 365 , and ultimately supplanted by NY 365 .

The G Wyman Building is a two storey brick building with an iron awning extending across the footpath, supported on timber posts. The building was constructed in 1906 during a period of economic prosperity in Laidley and it was the second building that George Wyman had constructed on the site, replacing a former timber structure established in 1883. The architect of the building is unknown. At the turn of the century, the Lockyer Valley was one of the most prosperous agricultural districts in Queensland, and this prosperity was reflected in the flurry of building activity in Laidley which saw the town nearly double in size, and many of the earlier timber buildings were replaced with substantial brick buildings. These included the new Exchange Hotel in , Neilson's new Central Hall (1902), the new Geismann's buildings (1902), Whitehouse's Bakery in 1904, as well as Wyman's new store in 1906. As the principal town in the Lockyer district, Laidley was granted its own town council, distinct from Laidley Shire Council, in 1902.

Although this would release only one percent of the energy of a magnitude 9 subduction zone earthquake, in being closer to the surface and confined to a smaller area damage would be more severe. It has been estimated that such an earthquake on the similar Seattle Fault would damage 80 bridges in the Seattle--Tacoma highway corridor, comparable to an estimated 87 bridges damaged in all of western Washington from a M 9 subduction earthquake. For a M 6.7 quake on the Tacoma Fault it was estimated that 20 to 35 bridges would be damaged; losses to the regional economy due just to the damaged highway infrastructure would be over $3 billion.. Calculations of ground motions for a M 7.1 earthquake on the Tacoma Fault indicates that most of Tacoma would experience moderate damage (depending on type of construction and local conditions). Heavy damage would be expected in a zone just north of the fault, especially on Maury Island, and extending across Federal Way to the cities of Auburn and Kent.. Computer simulations show that the same M 7.1 earthquake would generate a tsunami.

A continuous ice cap covering approximately down to an elevation of covered Kilimanjaro during the Last Glacial Maximum in the Pleistocene epoch (the Main glacial episode), extending across the summits of Kibo and Mawenzi. Because of the exceptionally prolonged dry conditions during the subsequent Younger Dryas stadial, the ice fields on Kilimanjaro may have become extinct around 11,500 years BP. Ice cores taken from Kilimanjaro's Northern Ice Field (NIF) indicates that the glaciers there have a basal age of about 11,700 years, although an analysis of ice taken in 2011 from exposed vertical cliffs in the NIF supports an age extending only to 800 years BP. Higher precipitation rates at the beginning of the Holocene epoch (11,500 years BP) allowed the ice cap to reform. The glaciers survived a widespread drought during a three century period beginning around 4,000 years BP. Vertical margin wall of the Rebmann Glacier in 2005 with Mount Meru in the background. In the late 1880s, the summit of Kibo was completely covered by an ice cap about in extent with outlet glaciers cascading down the western and southern slopes, and except for the inner cone, the entire caldera was buried.

Other "public" rooms accessible to guests included a bar, a writing room, a substantial shop space (described in the architect's plan a "bank") and even, at the northern end of the building, a room designated in the architect's plan for "ping- pong". The large vestibule was dominated by an impressive wrought iron staircase, while the former main staircase at the southern end of the building was now designated as "side-staircase". There was another "side-staircase" towards the hotel's northern end.

Thorax bronzy golden, posteriorly reddish to purple, tegulae coppery to purple violet; ground colour of forewing reddish golden to purple violet, distal half sometimes purplish brown, outer margin sometimes reddish golden again, apex rarely also of this colour; a bronzy golden colouration from the base to 1/4, leaving a purple violet basal spot at costa; markings light golden to golden, delicately bordered in bronzy gold: a broad fascia at 1/2, slightly bent outwards, extending across the whole width of the forewing; sometimes a small costal spot at 3/5 (found in 7 of 17 specimens); a larger, almost round to slightly oval spot at 3/4, extending from costa across more than half of, sometimes even across the whole forewing width (in the latter case the posterior part of this fascia is bronzy golden); fringe golden, basally purple coloured, outwards whitish; hindwing bronzy golden, with an intense purple tinge; fringe bronzy golden, outwards whitish; legs and abdomen brown, golden shining.

The crank was only seven inches in length, and the engine was designed to readily make 600 revolutions a minute, and maintain a speed of 100 miles an hour with a full train of passenger cars. In a true line with, and fifteen feet directly above, the face of the track rail was the lower face of a guide rail, supported from posts arranged along the side of the track, and on the sides of this guide rail run pairs of rubber- faced trolley wheels attached to the top of the locomotive and the cars. The guide rail was a simple stringer of yellow pine, 4¼ by 8 inches in section, and the standards on which the wheels are journaled were placed far enough apart to allow a space of 6 inches between the continuous faces of each pair of wheels, thus affording 1¾ inches for lateral play, or sidewise movement toward or from the guard rail, it being designed that the guide rail shall be arranged in the exact line of the true center of gravity of the cars and locomotive. The standards were bolted to six-inch wide strap iron attached to and extending across the top of the car.
