The Most Excellent Order of the Golden Ark () is a Dutch order of merit established in 1971 by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands. Jean Neill Erwin (25 January 1890 - 24 July 1969) was a New Zealand civilian and military nurse, masseuse, and army nursing administrator. She was born in Fendalton, Christchurch, New Zealand on 25 January 1890. She was appointed Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 1945 Birthday Honours just after her retirement from the military. She was an elder at Knox Church in Christchurch.

Bud Flanagan, (born Chaim Reuben Weintrop, 14 October 1896 – 20 October 1968) was a popular British music hall and vaudeville entertainer and comedian, and later a television and film actor. He was best known as a double act with Chesney Allen. Flanagan was famous as a wartime entertainer and his achievements were recognised when he was awarded the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1959.

In November 1994, upon appointment by Queen Elizabeth II, Cook was invested by the Prince of Wales with the Insignia of Honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE) for his contribution to Anglo-American relations and support for philanthropic projects around the world. Cook was inducted into the Junior Achievement U.S. Business Hall of Fame in 2000. Cook is also a member of Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
The Secretary of State for Air, Winston Churchill, presented them with the Daily Mail prize for the first crossing of the Atlantic Ocean by aeroplane in "less than 72 consecutive hours." A small amount of mail was carried on the flight, making it the first transatlantic airmail flight. He returned to Saskatchewan after the war and resumed his medical practice and political activity. He was appointed lieutenant governor of the province by Conservative federal Prime Minister R.B. Bennett in 1931.
Samuel Ireland said that the valuable and extensive library was housed in an elegant suite of apartments, consisting of four rooms, three of which commanded a pleasant view of the gardens. In this collection (which included upwards of 8,000 volumes) were many rare and valuable books, in the most perfect condition. The excellent order in which they were ranged, and the extreme neatness that prevailed throughout the apartments, reflected great honour on those who had the superintendence of them.

Mirren was invested as a Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2003 Birthday Honours for services to drama. When she received the honour, Mirren commented that Prince Charles was "very graceful", but forgot to give her half of the award. Another person had to remind him to give Mirren the star. She also said that she felt wary about accepting the award, and had to be persuaded by comrades to accept the damehood.
In April 1947 Musodzi was awarded an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) and was among select guests invited to dine at the Government House with Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and the royal family. During the royal dinner, she refused to sit at the table reserved for African notables, instead finding her seat on the floor. Musodzi died on 21 July 1952. Outside of government, Filleul was also the former Chairman of the Jersey Heritage, an independent charitable trust which oversees Jersey's museums and historic sites, as well as the chairman of the Waterfront Enterprise Board, now known as the Jersey Development Company . Filleul was named an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his service to the Jersey Trust. Filleul was born in 1926 at Grève d'Azette, Jersey. He died at the Jersey Hospice in Saint Helier on 20 March 2016.

In 1967 it was incorporated as a Number Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Institute of Chile. El Yuzbashi ('Captain') El Amin Effendi Hemeida EGM (born around 1900, probably in Sudan) was a soldier in the Sudan Defence Force. In 1936 he was awarded the Medal of the Military Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, for Gallantry (the "Empire Gallantry Medal", EGM), "for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in circumstances of very considerable personal danger". It was gazetted on 23 June 1936. The citation read: In September 1940, the medal was converted automatically to the newly created George Cross.
He served as Ambassador to Iraq between 1951 and 1954, succeeding Sir Henry Mack. He retired in 1954, served as UK Member of the Saar Referendum Commission in 1955 and was Chairman of the Save the Children Fund 1956–1962. He was appointed a Commander of the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George in 1939, a Knight Commander of the same order in 1948, and in 1955 he was made an Ordinary Knight Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. He died in Horsham, West Sussex in 1971.

On 1 January 1968, in the New Years Honours, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II awarded to Adesanya Kwamina Hyde, Esq., D.F.C. the Order of the British Empire (Civil Division) C.B.E., to be an Ordinary Commander of the Civil Division of the said Most Excellent Order. At this time, Hyde was the Secretary-General of the National Reformation Council Secretariat. The National Reformation Council were a group of senior military officers who, on 23 March 1967, reversed a military coup perpetrated by the Commander of the Armed Forces, Brigadier Lansana.
He died in 1947 from a heart attack, but is recorded amongst the dead for the 1939-1945 conflict as occupation operations had then not yet normalised to peacetime arrangements. He was also Mentioned in Despatches five times. He is buried in the Parish of the Ascension Burial Ground in Cambridge.

Narinder Singh Sandhu was born on 1 September 1932 at Narli, Amritsar, in the British province of Punjab, the son of Shri Hari Singh. His grandfather, Thakur Singh, was a major in the British Indian Army in World War I during which he was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry; he was subsequently made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. He attended Khalsa College, Amritsar. His wife's name was Harinder, and they had two children: a son, Sandeep; and a daughter, Mandeep; both were born in 1965.

Adrian Mark Owen (born 17 May 1966) is a British neuroscientist and best- selling author. He is best known for his 2006 discovery, published in the journal Science, showing that some patients thought to be in a persistent vegetative state are in fact fully aware and (shown subsequently) able to communicate with the outside world using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). In the 2019 New Year Honours List, Owen was made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to scientific research.

Anslyn was a recognized expert in marine knowledge who, from 1999 to his death, served as Marine Consultant to the Premier's Ministry, Nevis Air and Sea Ports Authority, Nevis Island Administration (NIA), and Marine Advisor to the Premier's Ministry, NIA. Over the years, Anslyn received numerous awards, both for his service to the community and for his bravery in saving lives and property in extreme situations. Anslyn was honoured with the insignia of a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 1985.

Following a short career in video game retail, she was part of the December 1990 merger between British video game publisher 17-Bit Software and Swedish developer Team 7 that led to the formation of Team17, where she acts as chief executive officer. Bestwick was awarded various accolades related to the video game industry between 2015 and 2017, and was pronounced a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in June 2016 for her services in that industry.

At the first Women in Games conference in September 2015, also organised by MCV, Bestwick was honoured with the "Hall of Fame" award. At the second iteration of that conference, held in May 2016, Bestwick won the "Businesswoman of the Year" award. At the 2016 Birthday Honours Bestwick was pronounced a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her services in the video game industry.

Teo was appointed Chief in the House of Chiefs of Niutao in 1945 and was reappointed as a Chief on 29 June 1997 after his service as the first Governor General of Tuvalu. Teo was married to Uimai (Tofiga) Teo. Teo was appointed as an Ordinary Member of the Civil Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1956; awarded the Imperial Service Order (I.

He was made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) “for services to music overseas.” Most recently, McGegan was invited to join the board of Early Music America. She returned to New Zealand and built a house at Halfmoon Bay on Stewart Island called Moturau Moana, and used a checklist by botanist Leonard Cockayne to populate it with all the local indigenous plants.

Under Donaldson, the Privatization Committee negotiated and approved the sale of the majority of the Bahamas Telecommunications Company to the private sector in 2011. Donaldson was named a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in 1973 for his contributions to public service.
On 14 March 1946, the 14th Major Port, the US Army unit Col. Kiser served as Port Commander, was honored by the Mayor and burghers of the Borough of Southampton in England – allowing them to march through the town "with bayonets fixed, drums beating, and colours flying" – for outstanding achievement in the operation of the Port of Southampton during World War II and on D-Day, the Allied invasion of Normandy. Later, Col. Kiser was also honored as a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his World War II service.

In October 1993, Ruth Brinkmann returned to the stage for the 30th anniversary production of the theatre in which she portrayed the author Helene Hanff in James Roose-Evans' adaptation of 84 Charing Cross Road. The opening performance took place under the patronage of the Federal Foreign Minister Dr. Alois Mock and his wife Dr. Edith Mock and in the presence of Princess Alexandra. Queen Elizabeth II appointed Ruth Brinkmann an Honorary Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.). This award was presented to Brinkmann by the British Ambassador in Vienna, Terence Wood on April 11, 1994.

Esther Ayuso (born November 1958) was the first female Belizean architect. She is known for her designs to improve hospitals in Belize including Belize Medical Associates, the Cleopatra White Polyclinic, Matron Robert polyclinic, the Hoy Eye Clinic and the PICU/NICU wing of Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital due to be completed in 2015. She has served as a Senator and as the Chair of the National Women's Commission, as well as the Belizean delegate to the Inter-American Commission of Women. In 2015 she was awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for contributions to the community.
In February 2014, NHS England created the Kate Granger Awards for Compassionate Care. These annual awards are in honour of Granger to "recognise an individual, team or organisation that has made a positive difference to patient care". In June 2014, Granger was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, the first doctor in training that the college had elected as a fellow, in recognition of her contribution to healthcare. Granger was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2015 New Year Honours for services to the NHS and improving care.
Glynne was made a fellow of the Institute of Biology and in the 1960 Birthday Honours, she was appointed Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her services to agriculture, and retired that same year. Instead of giving up work completely she moved to a volunteer role at Rothamsted for two more years. In mountaineering, Glynne was a member of the Fell & Rock Climbing Club, the Pinnacle Club and Vice-President of the Ladies' Alpine Club. In 1991, at the age of 96, Glynne developed bronchopneumonia and died in her nursing home in Harpenden.

She was very close to her siblings, including Rachel Hepburn Stewart and William Downie Stewart Jr She acted as mayoress for her younger brother William when he was elected Mayor of Dunedin. She later supported her brother when he was elected to the House of Representatives, and was recognised as the person "to whom the country owes its new minister" when William was appointed to cabinet.

Appointed Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE) in 1973, Lord Glentoran was also the Lord Lieutenant (and from 1950 to 1976 Lieutenant) for Belfast from 1976 to 1985.

In August 2011, Millar appeared in his native Coatbridge to unveil a superhero- themed steel archway beside the Monkland Canal that was created by sculptor Andy Scott, with help from the students at his alma mater, St Ambrose High School. The six metre-high archway, which was inspired by Millar's work, depicts a superhero named Captain Coatbridge and two female superheroines, and was created as part of efforts to regenerate the canal. In June 2013, Millar was appointed a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to film and literature on the Queen's Honours Birthday list.
According to The Daily Telegraph, "... it was no small measure due to him [Levering Smith] that the British Polaris programme was completed on time and on budget — an unprecedented feat in British naval history." For this, he was made an honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire on 7 January 1972. Smith died of cancer at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California, on 5 April 1993, and was buried in San Marcos District Cemetery in San Marcos, California. He was survived by his wife, Beulah Weymouth Lewis Smith (1913–2007).

The Medal of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for Gallantry, usually known as the Empire Gallantry Medal (EGM), was a British medal awarded for acts of the gallantry that did not reach the standard required for the Albert Medal and the Edward Medal. King George V introduced it on 29 December 1922. Recipients were entitled to use the post-nominal letters "EGM" and as a Medal of the Order of the British Empire it was also divided into military and civil divisions. Unlike appointments to the Order of the British Empire it could be awarded posthumously.
By From its humble start with one aircraft, Bush Pilots Airways Limited grew to become a major regional carrier in Northern Australia. Sir Robert spent 15 years at the helm of Bush Pilots and acted as an honorary pilot for the Cairns Aerial Ambulance for 25 years. In 1958, he was appointed an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his work in preventing loss of lives during and after Cyclone Agnes, which devastated much of Far North Queensland in March 1956. He was created a Knight Bachelor in 1989 in recognition of his outstanding community service.
After completing house appointments at St. Bartholomew's and Lord Mayor Treloar Cripples' Hospital, in Hampshire, he joined the Royal Army Medical Corps, serving with the Eighth Army in North Africa and Italy. Subsequently he was appointed General Duties Officer at the Military Hospital (head injuries), Oxford, under Colonel Hugh Cairns and Group Captain Symonds. In December 1945 "in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in Italy" he was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. After World War II, he returned to St. Bartholomew's Hospital with Sir James Paterson Ross and Mr. J.E.A. O'Connell.
Wolfe paid to Henry Dibblee in 1865 was a huge sum for that time and an indication that the property was well improved and in excellent order. Since Dibblee lived there for fifteen years, it may be assumed that he did a number of things which added to the value of the place. He may have done a considerable amount of landscaping, and he must have been responsible for the first addition to the west end of the house which nearly doubled its size. (Member of the Order of Australia) given for services to multiculturalism and the Greek community.

John Crichton-Stuart, 4th Marquess of Bute, was a passionate in Architecture who was also created a Knight-Companion of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, while his son John Crichton-Stuart, 5th Marquess of Bute, a maternal descendant of William IV of the United Kingdom by Dorothea Bland, was an expert in Ornithology. He was succeeded by his son, John Crichton-Stuart, 6th Marquess of Bute, who had a passion for Scottish heritage and received a Knight-Commander degree of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his efforts before he died in 1993.
Yemisi Ransome-Kuti is the only child of Azariah Olusegun Ransome-Kuti MBE (who was appointed Chief Pharmacist for the Federation of Nigeria in 1956 and who served until his retirement from the federal Medical Service; in 1951, he was appointed Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by King George VI). She is also the granddaughter of the Rev. Canon Josiah Ransome- Kuti. Her aunt Chief Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti was a foremost feminist in Nigeria who was also part of the delegation that went to negotiate the terms of independence for their country from the British.

In 1996, Cook was made Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Her Majesty the Queen, in the New Year's Honours List, for services to the steel casting industry. In 2008, Cook was awarded the E J Fox medal by the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers Also in 2008, Cook was named 82nd in the Telegraph's Top 1,000 British Business People.

On 29 December 2012 Kate Caithness was bestowed the honour of an OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for services to curling and international disability sport. Langworth founded the Churchill Study Unit (1968) and served as the president of its successors the International Churchill Society and the Churchill Centre (1988–1999) and chairman of its board of trustees (2000–2006). He was editor of the Churchill journal "Finest Hour" from 1982 to 2014 and editorial consultant to the National Churchill Museum (2011–2015). Since 2014, he has been Senior Fellow for the Churchill Project at Hillsdale College. In 1998, he was created a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Elizabeth II for his services to Anglo-American understanding and history.

Prior to World War II, he worked as a physicist in Berlin and as a colloid chemist in Cambridge. In June 1942, Vian's force provided escort for the Operation Vigorous convoy from Haifa and Port Said. This was a part of a sequence of movements but it was rebuffed by strong surface and air forces and returned.
Martin David William Childs MBE (born 1 July 1954), is a British production designer. He won the 1998 Academy Award for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration (jointly with Jill Quertier) for Shakespeare in Love, and was nominated at the 74th Academy Awards for his work on the film Quills. He has also been nominated three times for the Art Directors Guild Award for Excellence in Production Design, and three times for a BAFTA Award for Best Production Design. In the New Year Honours 2002, Childs was appointed as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his services to the film industry as a production designer.
After passing the Bar exam in 1959, Litton entered into private practice in Hong Kong where he was eminently successful as a trial lawyer. Litton was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1970 and co-founded the Hong Kong Law Journal with Gerald de Basto QC, another local barrister. He also served as Chairman of the Bar Association from 1971 to 1973, from 1977 to 1980 and again from 1983 to 1985. Litton was appointed in 1987 an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his contribution to the law and was elevated to the bench in 1992 as a Justice of Appeal.

Quinto was named a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in December 1989. On the occasion of his departure from Taiwan in 2008, President Chen Shui-bian conferred upon him the Grand Cordon of the Order of Brilliant Star (大綬景星勳章, a civilian order of the Republic of China). Two of Quinto's sons, David and Jimmy, are businessmen in Belize City.
Steve Grand with scenes from Creatures 2 Steve Grand OBE (born 12 February 1958) is a British computer scientist and roboticist. He was the creator and lead programmer of the Creatures artificial life simulation, which he discussed in his first book Creation: Life and how to make it, a finalist for the 2001 Aventis Prize for Science Books. He is also an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, which he received in 2000. Grand's project from 2001–2006 was the building of an artificial robot baby orang- utan, with the intention of having it learn as a human baby would.
Rolf Harris was a popular entertainer on British TV, and was the presenter of Rolf on Art, a BBC series on artists. He took two months to complete the portrait; two sittings were held at Buckingham Palace in the summer of 2005, filmed by the BBC; the rest of the painting was completed at Harris' own art studio. The portrait, measuring , is in oil of the Queen wearing a turquoise dress. After he completed the portrait Harris' reputation as an artist, and the value of his works increased, and he was appointed a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE).
Captured as a prisoner of war during the surrender at St. Valery-en-Caux, he escaped during the march to Germany and returned to France in 1944 as pipe major of the 7th Battalion of the Seaforth Highlanders. After the war, he competed in solo competitions, and won the Gold Medal at the Northern Meeting in Inverness in 1947 and at the Argyllshire Gathering in Oban in 1954. After leaving the British Army in 1963, MacLeod became a partner in Grainger and Campbell, a Glasgow bagpipe- manufacturing firm. He was made Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1978.

As the donor and organiser of the Anstie Grange Primary Hospital for Officers, Heath was appointed Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1920 New Year Honours, for civilian services in connection with the war. In July 1920 he also received a certificate of appreciation from Winston Churchill to hang in Angstie Grange, and an accompanying letter, in acknowledgement of the Army Council's gratitude.

Hopkins joined the UK civil service in 2001. She led the UK government’s Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative (PSVI) to end impunity for sexual violence committed in war. The campaign included the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict – which brought together over 125 countries in the largest gathering ever on this topic. She was awarded the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2014 Queen’s Birthday Honours List, for services to preventing sexual violence in conflict affected countries. Hopkins was appointed as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Denmark in January 2020, and took up her post in October 2020.
The chapel of the Order of St Michael and St George in St Paul's Cathedral, London. The original home of the Order was the Palace of St. Michael and St. George in Corfu, the residence of the Lord High Commissioner of the Ionian Islands and the seat of the Ionian Senate. Since 1906, the Order's chapel has been in St Paul's Cathedral in London. (The cathedral also serves as home to the chapels of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and the Imperial Society of Knights Bachelor.) Religious services for the whole Order are held quadrennially; new Knights and Dames Grand Cross are installed at these services.
In 1944 the Earl of Halifax, then Britain's Ambassador to the U.S., presented to General Hunter, in the name of the King of England, the CBE, "Commander of the military division of the most excellent order of the British Empire." Just a year earlier the general had been awarded the Legion of Merit for "exceptional services" in planning and executing the movement of air echelons of the Twelfth Air Force from Great Britain to North Africa. His other awards include the Distinguished Flying Cross and Purple Heart. Among the units under Hunter's command was the all Negro 477th Bombardment Group stationed at Freeman Field in Seymour, Indiana.

In July 2016 Derek Piggott was appointed President of the BHPFC (British Human Powered Flying Club) in recognition of his pioneering achievements in the field of human powered aviation.

In 1938, he became a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE)"George Edward Kruger Gray CBE" in Mapping the Practice and Profession of Sculpture, retrieved on 6 October 2013 Although best known for the design of numismatic items, he also designed and made stained glass windows for churches, universities and the like. As well, he illustrated books, and made posters and cartoons.
He was also the first to recommend and negotiate on behalf of the Kuwaiti government for the installation and commissioning of Kuwait's first desalination plant located in Shuwaikh, as well as the first to coordinate the commissioning of Kuwait's first major power station. In recognition of his efforts in strengthening bilateral relations between Kuwait and the United Kingdom, he was recognized as a recipient of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. MBE Abdullah Al Mulla In 1938, Abdullah Al Mulla started his private business, which today has grown into a multi-national conglomerate, the Al Mulla Group. He died in 1955 from a brain hemorrhage.
In his civil life, Richard Gorham became a prominent businessman and Member of the Parliament of Bermuda (originally titled Member of the Colonial Parliament, or MCP, but today simply Member of Parliament, or MP). Dame Doris Sands Johnson, (19 June 192121 June 1983) was a Bahamian teacher, suffragette, and politician. She was the first Bahamian woman to contest an election in the Bahamas, the first female Senate appointee, and the first woman granted a leadership role in the Senate. Once in the legislature, she was the first woman to be made a government minister and then was elected as the first woman President of the Senate. She was the first woman to serve as Acting Governor General of the Bahamas, and was honored as Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II. Born on New Providence Island, she completed her secondary education and became a teacher.

In 2005, a native Thai pensioner, Mr. Sevee Charuruks from Kota Kinabalu, undertook the restoration as a private retirement project. In subsequent years, the Australian government was also involved in several contributions to the further restoration. Such as the contribution of 120,000 MYR for the fencing of the plot, MYR350,000 for the Australian Memorial Hall (which to serves the screening of documentaries), MYR120,000 in the demolition and reconstruction of the concrete wall in the Contemplation Garden and another MYR14,000 for the construction of the Confrontation Memorial. As a reward for his contribution efforts, Charuruks has been awarded the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) by the British government.
Albert G. Milbank had been a partner in the firm of Masten & Nichols; when that firm merged with Murray, Aldrich & Webb, he became a senior partner of the newly formed Milbank, Tweed, Hope & Webb. While a partner of the firm, Mr. Milbank was also a member of the board of directors of the Welfare Board of New York City and Greater New York, as well as of the New York War Fund and the National Institute of Social Science. He was a trustee emeritus of Princeton University and a trustee of the Pierpont Morgan Library. Among the many honors he received was that of Honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire-Civil Division.

Roberts was born in Kingston, Jamaica on October 15, 1886. He was an editor, war correspondent, and the author of several books of poetry and prose, as well as a historian of Jamaica and the Caribbean. In 1938 Roberts met Wilfred Adolphus Domingo and the two formed the Jamaica Progressive League. During his lifetime Roberts received several awards, including the Silver Musgrave Medal from the Institute of Jamaica (1941), the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Order of Merit (1950), the Gold Musgrave Medal from the Institute of Jamaica (1954), the title of Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (1961), and was posthumously awarded the Commander of the Order of Distinction by the Jamaican Government (1977).

Felix Barrett, MBE is the founder and Artistic Director of Punchdrunk and Punchdrunk International. In 2000, Barrett founded Punchdrunk, a British theatre company internationally recognised as pioneering ways for audiences to experience culture. In 2015, a new company was formed, Punchdrunk International, which produces a selection of Punchdrunk’s commercial productions for national and international audiences. Barrett is a graduate and Honorary Doctorate in Drama of the University of Exeter and was one of the first recipients of a Paul Hamlyn Foundation Breakthrough Fund Award (supporting exceptional arts practitioners in the development of their vision). He was appointed Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to theatre.
Elizabeth St Clare Sharman (born 8 August 1957, in Bolton), sometimes known as Liz Sharman, is a former British slalom and sprint canoeist who competed from the late 1970s to the late 1980s. She won six medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with two golds (K-1: 1983, 1987), three silvers (K-1: 1979; K-1 team: 1981, 1983) and a bronze (K-1 team: 1985). Sharman also competed in sprint canoeing in the K-2 500 m event at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, but was eliminated in the semifinals. Sharman was awarded a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Queen Elizabeth II on the 13th of December, 1989.

In 1927–28, he was appointed assistant lecturer in history at University College, London, before obtaining a Laura Spelman Rockefeller Scholarship to do research in the United States and in the West Indies on mid-eighteenth-century trade. Sir Edmund held several high level executive positions and directorships in companies and corporations in the private and public sectors in St. Kitts and Nevis and throughout the Eastern Caribbean between 1971 and 2012. In the 1999 New Year Honours, Sir Edmund was invested as an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE).
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of the order. Recommendations for appointments to the Order of the British Empire were originally made on the nomination of the United Kingdom, the self- governing Dominions of the Empire (later Commonwealth) and the Viceroy of India.

While her husband was a colonial governor, she served her country as Honorary Exhibition Commissioner for the Gold Coast at the British Empire Exhibition (1923–26), was Chairman of The Play Actors (1927–29), and Chairman of the Overseas Section of the Forum Club (1928–32).

In all, he oversaw the development of Port of Spain into an attractive town; in the words of Henry Coleridge in 1825: ::"Port of Spain is by far the finest town I saw in the West Indies. The streets are wide, long, and laid out at right angles; no house is now allowed to be built of wood, and no erection of any sort can be made except in a prescribed line. There is a public walk embowered in trees (...), and a spacious market place with a market house or shambles in excellent order and cleanliness." Supervising many of the works personally, protected from the sun and on his horse; he became popularly known among the creole as "gouverneur chapeau paille" (Governor straw hat).

Memorial plaque to Warriner in Prague (unveiled in April 2019) Doreen Agnes Rosemary Julia Warriner (16March 190417December 1972) was a development economist known chiefly for her role in rescuing refugees just before World War II. In December 1938, Warriner started her work in Prague as a British Committee for Refugees from Czechoslovakia (BCRC) representative. However, her active role in rescuing refugees alerted the Gestapo and she left Prague on 22 April 1939. She worked for the Minister of Economic Warfare in Britain and Egypt and during 1944–46, headed the food supply division of United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration's Yugoslavian mission. She was awarded the title Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1942.

Les Stocker (31 January 1943 – 16 July 2016) was a British wildlife campaigner and expert who founded Tiggywinkles, the United Kingdom's first hospital for wild animals, in 1983. Stocker has been credited with revolutionizing the treatment of sick or injured wild animals in Britain through the practice of wildlife rehabilitation, which is now commonplace across the country. He received numerous honors for his work at Tiggywinkles, including the Rolex Awards for Enterprise in 1990, an appointment as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to wildlife in 1991, and recognition as an honorary associate of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2002. Stocker was born on 31 January 1943 in Battersea to Rose (née Weaving) Stocker, a civil servant, and Rob Stocker, a site manager.

Five months later, he took over as Chair of the Army Committee on Welfare and Recreation, responsible for information and education services for military personnel. In September 1941, he was commissioned as Brigadier General and appointed Chief of the Morale Branch of the War Department (later called the Information and Education Division of Special Services). By the war's end, he had earned promotion to Major General and had been awarded a bronze star in Paris, the Distinguished Service Medal, and the Selective Service Medal, and he was made Honorary Commander in the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

In 1959, he joined with eleven other investors to fund the construction of the Hotel Ritz in Lisbon after Salazar decided that Lisbon lacked a suitable hotel for distinguished foreign visitors.
