Central Telegraph Office () is a colonial-era landmark in Yangon, Myanmar (formerly Rangoon, Burma), designated in the Yangon City Heritage List. The building, located on the corner of Pansodan and Maha Bandula Roads, now houses the a government office, Myanma Posts and Telecommunications (MPT). Central Telegraph Office was designed by John Begg, a government architect who had also designed other colonial era buildings in the city, including Customs House on Strand Road, and the Printing and Publishing Enterprise building. Construction for the four-story, steel-framed building, took place between 1913 and 1917, delivered by Clark & Greig.

The project to establish the Standard watch originally aimed to make a steel-cased 17 jewel watch available to, and within the means of, almost any worker in the People's Republic of China. The often elaborate case-backs and signed crowns of many vintage Standard watches are a testimony to the pride of the local enterprises that built them. In 1889, a new company, the Isis Investment Corporation (which at that stage was working the Torbanlea Colliery), made approaches to the government regarding the construction of a private railway from Torbanlea to the mouth of the Burrum River on terms which were similar to those granted to Vernon Co. some years earlier. This proposal also failed to eventuate, and although interest in a railway did not wane, there seemed little likelihood of the government or a private enterprise building such a line. In 1895, the Queensland government passed the "Railway Construction Guarantee Act", the main provision of this act being that the government and local authorities would guarantee to meed half the loss incurred of share the profits. Though there was some local opposition in such use of taxpayers' money, the Burrum Divisional Board, who were keen to see the railway built, agreed to act as the other guarantor.
