Rix became a professional actor when he was 18, on deferment from service with the Royal Air Force, with Donald Wolfit's Shakespeare Company. After only four months as a professional actor, he played Sebastian in Twelfth Night at the St James's Theatre in London. His deferment was extended and he gained his first weekly repertory experience with the White Rose Players at the opera house in Harrogate. From there he went into the Royal Air Force, eventually ending up as a volunteer Bevin Boy working down the coal mines near Doncaster.

In 1946, he left for Madras (now Chennai) in search of livelihood, where he performed odd jobs, before ending up as a compositor in the printing press of Communist Party of India (CPI). His association with the CPI, instilled the ideas of the movement, where he got to accompany leaders such as P. Jeevanandham, Baladandayutham and S. Ramakrishnan. The leaders of the party encouraged him to write. In the Byzantine Empire, which was basically what was left of the eastern Roman Empire, the currency system was reorganised, but the coinage mostly consisted of copper and gold. A silver miliaresion was developed, usually with a cross on steps obverse and an inscription forming the reverse. Later, the cup-shaped (or 'scyphate') trachy were issued, but the silver content of these rapidly declined towards only a few per cent, finally ending up as a pure copper coin after the Fourth Crusade (13th century). The Orkneyinga saga contains the earliest reference to sea- kings. There the original line of 'kings' of Kvenland (present-day Finland) ends with the father of Gor Thorrasson 'Sea King'. The appellation of 'Sea King' to subsequent names, from Gor to his great-grandson, Sveidi, suggests that they lose or surrender their inheritance as Kven kings and rule the seas instead, eventually ending up as minor lords in Norway.

Aydarov started work in 1987, watering crops on a farm, before serving for one year in the Soviet Army between 1988 and 1989. Before his election to the Jogorku Kenesh, Aydarov worked in various positions in various government agencies. He worked up the ranks of the State Customs Service, working there between 1994 and 2003, ending up as the head of the department. Following the close of the legislative session there were a number of events that occurred because of the session. He was a leader in the Unitarian Church, ending up as lay president of the international organisation. He was born in Acton, London to John Sutton Nettlefold, who founded the brass fixing company Nettlefold and Chamberlain with Frederick's cousin Joseph Chamberlain, father of Austen and Neville. After his father retired and cousin left the business to concentrate on politics, Frederick took over the running of the London part of the business as chairman, while his brother Joseph was sent to Birmingham to manage their new foundry.

The Golden Buddha, officially titled Phra Phuttha Maha Suwanna Patimakon (; ), commonly known in Thai as Phra Sukhothai Traimit (), is a gold Maravijaya Attitude seated Buddharupa statue, with a weight of 5.5 tonnes (5,500 kilograms). It is located in the temple of Wat Traimit, Bangkok, Thailand. At one point in its history the statue was covered with a layer of stucco and coloured glass to conceal its true value, and it remained in this condition for almost 200 years, ending up as what was then a pagoda of minor significance. During relocation of the statue in 1955, the plaster was chipped off and the gold revealed.

The Battle of El Alamein was the last engagement of the 44th Division; it was disbanded on 31 January 1943. Kurumbu (English: Naughty) is a 2003 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by Vishnuvardhan, making his directorial debut. The film, a remake of the 2002 Telugu film Allari, stars Allari Naresh, who also starred in the original version, which marked his acting debut, along with the female artists Diya and Nikita Thukral in lead roles. The film released on 21 November 2003 to poor reviews, failing to repeat the success of the original version and hence, ending up as a box-office bomb, being considered as the only commercially unsuccessful film of director Vishnuvardhan. Although there is the Telugu original, it was dubbed in Telugu also as Naa Allari.

Artur Hofmann (born Plauen 24 June 1907: died Berlin 4 May 1987) was a German politician (KPD). He was a member of the Ackermann Group that arrived in Saxony from Moscow in 1945 to prepare the way for Soviet Military Administration in the parts of Germany destined to be transformed into the German Democratic Republic. Between 1949 and 1952 he was the Minister of the Interior for Saxony until the abolition of a regional tier of government following national administrative reforms. He then became a senior functionary in the new country's Ministry for State Security (Stasi), where he served between 1953 and 1970, ending up as a colonel in the organisation.

Ottilie "Tilly" Spiegel (10 December 1906 - 1988) was an Austrian political activist, first as a member of the Communist Party and then as part of the wartime resistance. After her actions had earned her a term of imprisonment during the Austrofascist period she fled the country, ending up as in Paris as a member of the French Resistance. Her parents were murdered by the Nazis but five siblings managed to emigrate to England or to the United States. In 1945 the merger combining Germany and Austria was reversed at the insistence of the occupying powers whose military victory had put an end to the Hitler regime.

Still, some editorials in the US point to the possibility of brainwashing, and Huang discovers the source of the leak. Meanwhile, Michael Cash had been sent to Prague, to establish Chinese contacts with dissenting elements in the local Communist Party towards an eventual showdown between China and the USSR.

Brandon Corp (born March 2, 1987) was a lacrosse player for Colgate University in Division I college lacrosse and the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse. Corp played for the Raiders from 2006 to 2009 leading the team to a 42 and 20 record during his four years, ending up as the 4th leading scorer in the nation his senior season, and leading the team to a Patriot League title and an NCAA tournament appearance as a junior. He was the Patriot League Offensive Player of the year for three years in a row from husband sophomore year to husband senior year. The start of 2017/18 season saw a lot of player changes, with new players coming in and a number of the international students heading home. The league itself was also rebranded as the Regional League South West. The men's team had an excellent year, registering their first victory over Bath University for a number of years and ending up as Champions with 5 more points than runners up and last year's champions South Wales. At the end of the season, Bristol played Chelsea at the Derby Arena for a place in the National League South and in a hard fought and exciting game, Bristol were victorious winning 36-32 to secure promotion.

Their goal was to provide a simplified upgrade path for the newly released IBM PCs which did not come with a hard drive. The company was originally incorporated as BBH Corporation (using the initials for Berkley, Brown, and Harrison), but also used the name Bits in Space for fun. It later changed its name to Qew Corporation (a pun on the first initial of Quantum), finally ending up as Plus Development Corporation.

Aboriginal children were removed from their homes for various welfare reasons and transported to Kinchela and Cootamundra, where they were often abused and neglected while being taught farm labouring and domestic work, many of them ending up as servants in the homes of wealthy Sydney residents. The massive 44.5 litre Daimler-Benz DB 603 inverted V12 was selected to power the record-setting car. The engine was an increased displacement derivative of the famous DB-601 aircraft engine that powered the Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter in production at the time, with the DB 603 ending up as the largest displacement inverted V12 aviation engine in production for Germany during the World War II years. The DB-603 fitted was just the third prototype (V3) engine of this variant and tuned up to , roughly twice the power of the Bf 109 or the Supermarine Spitfire. The engine ran on a special mixture of methyl alcohol (63%), benzene (16%), ethanol (12%), acetone (4.4%), nitrobenzene (2.2%), avgas (2%), and ether (0.4%) with MW (methanol-water) injection for charge cooling and as an anti-detonant.

The Opel Ascona is a large family car (D-segment in Europe) that was produced by the German automaker Opel from 1970 to 1988. It was produced in three separate generations, beginning with rear-wheel-drive and ending up as a front-wheel drive J-car derivative. The Ascona took its name from the lakeside resort of that name in Ticino, Switzerland, and already in the 1950s a special edition of the Opel Rekord P1 was sold as an Opel Ascona in Switzerland, where the name was again used in 1968 for a locally adapted version of the Opel Kadett B into which the manufacturers had persuaded a 1.7-litre engine borrowed from the larger Rekord model of the time. Following a freshman season at Penn State, Harrington played for the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) for three years. Whymark had struck up a useful relationship with Leeds signing Rod Belfitt who had joined the club in November. At the beginning of the 1972/1973 season Robson gave Whymark a chance to establish himself as Rod Belfitt's striking partner and the partnership scored 10 goals with Whymark contributing three. Surprisingly, given that Belfitt was Ipswich's top scorer, he was exchanged for young Everton striker David Johnson but this change suited Whymark who netted another eight league goals that season ending up as joint top scorer with attacking midfielder Bryan Hamilton on 11 goals. Whymark also scored five goals in Ipswich's successful Texaco Cup campaign including one in the second- leg of the final against local rivals Norwich City. Finishing fourth in Division 1 in the previous season meant that Ipswich could compete in the UEFA Cup. After a 1-0 aggregate first round victory against Real Madrid, the undoubted highlight of the campaign was the first leg 4–0 victory over Italian team Lazio where Whymark scored all four goals.

Susquehanna is influenced by Latin and Caribbean music, incorporating flamenco ("Roseanne"), soca ("Tom the Lion"), bossa nova ("Breathe"), Latin rock ("Bust Out"), and reggae ("Blood Orange Sun") with swing, ska, and rockabilly. While the majority of the album is original, a notable exception is a re-recording of "Hi and Lo", a ska punk song written by Daddies frontman Steve Perry for The Mighty Mighty Bosstones in the mid-1990s, ending up as part of the Daddies' own repertoire and becoming a staple of their live shows. Perry explained that the album's tropical slant was due to his prediction that one day "American pop will owe a huge debt to world sensibilities...these I wanted to explore and potentially boil down to some fundamental building blocks that might lead toward a new, more international style". Stylistically, Perry claimed that he based the structure of Susquehanna on James Joyce's Ulysses in that each of the songs were written in a different style and genre but the album was thematically coherent.

Durkan attended Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a private Catholic girls' school in Bellevue. She spent part of her junior year of high school as an exchange student in London and said that "the best part of the experience was traveling through England to Scotland, France, Austria, Switzerland and Germany." A high-school classmate of Durkan's remembers her as “super independent, and rough-and-tumble…strong-willed and adventurous.” Durkan earned her B.A. degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1980. At Notre Dame, she tried out for the basketball team before being cut and ending up as the team’s statistician. After graduating, Durkan spent two years in Alaska, teaching high-school English and coaching a girls' basketball team in the Yup’ik Eskimo community through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. After a summer working as a baggage handler for Wien Air Alaska in St. Mary’s, Alaska as a dues-paying Teamster, Durkan enrolled in the University of Washington School of Law, earning her J.D. degree in 1985.

For the 2009–10 season, Keiron returned to Cornwall to sign terms with Launceston in what was his third spell with the All-Blacks, having also played for them as a boy. Keiron had a good season, making 20 league appearances and scoring 11 tries, as his side finished 3rd in what was a very competitive National League 1. While his first season back with the club had been a positive season, the next season would be a nightmare for both Keiron and Launceston, as first his club were docked 20 points due to going into liquidation, and then Keiron broke his leg in a league game in September. Keiron returned from injury during the latter half of the season but could not help his club overturn the points deduction as they ended up being relegated from the division. Despite the disappointment of relegation to National League 2 South, the 2011–12 season would see Keiron have the best scoring season of his career, ending up as the 2nd highest scorer in the league with 310 points, in a Launceston side that finished 7th in the league.

Consistent good performances with Fylde saw Johnson come to the attention of Premiership side, Sale Sharks, and he was picked to play for the Jets development side, making his A-League debut in October 2013, scoring a try and drop goal in a 40–19 win against Northampton Wanderers at Heywood Road. At the start of 2014 Johnson captained England Counties XV as they lost very close games against France Federale XV and an Irish Club XV. His season finished with for Lancashire at the 2014 Bill Beaumont Cup, finishing as the competition's top scorer with 60 points as his county retained the trophy with a 36–26 victory over last year's finalists, Cornwall. The 2014–15 season saw Fylde drop one place down to finish 5th in the league, with Johnson ending up as the second highest scorer in the division with 252 points (behind Richmond's Rob Kirby). Johnson would also return to action with England Counties XV at the start of 2015, scoring 7 points in a 37–3 victory against a Scottish Club XV in front of 1,200 supporters at Fylde's Woodlands Memorial Ground. He was even better in the next game for Counties as he bagged all 24 points in a 24 – 15 win against France Federale XV at Périgueux.
