The NAIA Men's Ice Hockey Championship held a single elimination competition to determined the collegiate national champion from the inaugural 1968 to 1984. The tournament began as a four-team tournament but expanded to six and eight teams during the peak time-frame during the 1970s and early 1980s. The tournament returned to the 4-team format for the final two seasons with declining hockey participation at the NAIA level. In total, the NAIA sponsored men's ice hockey as a championship sport for 17 years.

Fast Masters Jaguar XJ220 Fast Masters was a made-for-television auto racing series, broadcast on ESPN in 1993, featuring notable drivers over the age of 50, most of whom were retired from professional racing at the time. The Fast Masters series was a summer-long elimination competition, with identically- prepared, $750,000, TWR, Jaguar XJ220s racing on Bridgestone RE71 high- performance street tires. The races took place under-the-lights at Indianapolis Raceway Park, in conjunction with ESPN's Saturday Night Thunder. Starting in 2015, the U Sports Hockey championship tournament expanded from six to eight teams and moved from a two-pool format to a single-elimination competition (quarter-finals, semifinals and final with a bronze medal game). The eight teams competing include the four regional conference champions: AUS, Canada West, OUA West & OUA East (where the three hockey teams from the RSEQ compete). The Academic Challenge quiz bowl program, similar to GE College Bowl, places local high schools in a head-to-head battle for the championship title and over $40,000 in scholarship money. Twenty high schools from Southern Oregon and Northern California participate in the Academic Challenge. Each school brings in a team of five students, four participating and one alternate, who answer a series of questions from the host, NBC 5 Chief Meteorologist Jeff Heaton, on topics such as history, math, literature, current events and a variety of other categories. At the end of this double-elimination competition the final two teams will split the scholarship money, 60% to the championship team, 40% to the second-place team.

Face Off is presented as a progressive elimination competition between 12 and 16 make-up artists. Each week, the artists face a "Spotlight Challenge" that tests their artistry and techniques to create a full makeup character to match a theme over the course of 3 days. The first day allows for concept design and sculpting for five hours, a second day of 9½ to 10 hours for work in finishing the molding, and a final day of 4 hours in applying the makeup before a one- hour "Last Look" for touch ups. The judges then have the opportunity to look at the makeups from afar and up close, and decide a series of top and bottom looks for the week.

They sneak into More's room and put sex- inducing powder in her wine and around her room but More finds them hiding in her drawer and attacks them, causing Big Mouth to consume some of the powder. Sissy, who was watching for them outside, leads constable Madam Ti and her team to More's room where Fishy, Sissy and Big Mouth puts up an act which threatens More to reveal her true gender and takes the chance to leave. At the first round elimination competition, Fishy, More, and the Kong father and son make it to the finalists, and Monk Blackie schemes with Yuk-long to use Fishy and More to destroy Eva and help Yuk-long become the Champion of the Martial World. At night, Big Mouth and Sissy disguise as the Twin Martial Supremes and trap Fishy and More in an underground hole in order for Fishy to woo More, which succeeds as she becomes smitten with him.

The idea of this cup was requested by the administration of Al-Talaba SC to the Iraq Football Association and it was to put the top six teams of the 1990–91 Iraqi National League in a single-elimination competition, because of the lack of Iraqi competitions other than the then-called Iraqi National League and the Iraq FA Cup. The Iraq FA accepted the request on 24 August 1991, and put up a committee to administrate the competition, which decided to make 2 September the opening date. Over 55,000 spectators came to Al-Shaab Stadium, a ground that could only hold 45,000 at the time, to watch the cup final between Al- Zawraa and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, which ended with a 3–1 win for Al-Zawraa. After the first edition of the cup that was set up by Al-Talaba, the Iraq Football Association adopted the competition due to its promising reception from fans, and increased the number of participating teams from six to eight.
