The area to the north of Saul's Addition was subdivided as Fourteenth Street Terrace. While similar to Saul's Addition, the deeds did not prohibit semi-detached houses, and many duplexes can be seen on the 1300 blocks of Gallatin, Hamilton, and Ingraham Streets.

On July 2, 2019, the state of Oregon passed House Bill 2001 which provides an alternative to single family homes. The bill is an example of inclusionary zoning and allow for more affordable housing to be built. The bill allows duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, and cottage clusters (which are several smaller homes built around a community backyard or other green space) to be built on land zoned for single family homes in cities with over 25,000 residents. In cities with over 10,000 residents duplexes will be allowed on land zoned for single family homes. Approximately 2.8 million people of Oregon’s 4.1 million population live in areas that will be affected by this bill.
There are four hundred four contributing houses and duplexes in the neighborhood (and eight noncontributing houses), fifteen contributing apartment buildings (and twenty non-contributing apartment buildings) a shopping center with a two contributing, and two non-contributing buildings, and seven contributing parks. The shopping center is located at the southeast corner of the district, and the contributing apartment buildings are located to the west of the shopping center on the south portion of the district. Parks are equally spaced throughout the neighborhood; all but one (Bennington Park) are on the interior of the blocks. Each individual house is unique, but all of the houses and duplexes are one, one-and-a-half, or two stories tall.
Alexander Gibson developed the Marysville Cotton Mill. Brick duplexes were built around the mill, most of which are still standing and now privately owned. Gibson named the village after his wife and his eldest daughter, both of whom were named Mary. In 1973 the town merged with the city of Fredericton.

The housing in the neighbourhood is a mixture, ranging from high-density low-rental apartment buildings in Highfield Park built during the 1970s and 1980s, to small single-family houses, duplexes, townhouses and small apartment buildings. The School Street Duplexes are a pair of historic two-family worker houses at 343-345 and 347-349 School Street in Bennington, Vermont. Built about 1916, they are well-preserved examples of typical worker housing units of the 1910s. They were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
Four studs-out duplex cabins are located to the rear of the Inn. These gabled cabins were built in 1934, with an interior renovation in 1961. Varsity View is a mostly residential neighbourhood located near central Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is immediately south of the University of Saskatchewan campus. It is an older suburban subdivision, comprising a mixture of low-density, single detached dwellings, detached duplexes and apartment- style units. As of 2007, the area is home to 3,611 residents.

Tulsa's smallest historic district, GHD contains thirty-one single family residences and six duplexes built between 1922 and 1941. These original structures established the original integrity of the district. Five additional residences have been built within the past ten years. The most significant new buildings are four single-family residences directly south of the Gillette Mansion.

Local shopping centre in Palmerston Palmerston is mainly a residential area with a mix of single homes and duplexes. At the centre of the suburb there are small medical, shopping and community centres. Palmerston Primary School opened in 1994 and a large neighbourhood oval is adjacent to the school. A number of cyclepaths cross the suburb, with pedestrian and cycle underpasses at several road crossings.

Oak Lawn is one of the wealthier areas of metropolitan Dallas, with the population consisting mainly of urban professionals. The area is peppered with upscale townhouses, condos, apartments, and duplexes. Along the Uptown portion on McKinney Avenue and along Turtle Creek Boulevard, there are many new high- rise condominiums and apartments. It is also a very diverse neighborhood with well established areas of older, single family homes.
This is the area in Clairemont that includes Deerpark Drive, Burgener Boulevard, and Grandview Street from Field Street to Jellett Street. According to Burgener, "Between 1952 & 1954, seven homes were constructed a day". It is also noted that Clairemont was the largest development of its kind in the country. Within a few years, several thousand houses had been constructed, including single family homes, duplexes and apartments.
The term "superinsulation" was coined by Wayne Schick at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. In 1976 he was part of a team that developed a design called the "Lo-Cal" house, using computer simulations based on the climate of Madison, Wisconsin. This is partially because the extra oxygen in RNA increases the propensity for hydrogen bonding in the nucleic acid backbone.
The neighborhood was settled, with houses being built on lots up through World War I. However, after World War II, the Old West Side began to decline. Many of the houses were old, and the residents were moving out into newer homes. The larger homes in the neighborhood were being cut up into duplexes or apartments, and some were demolished to build apartments. In 1967, the Old West Side Association was formed to promote conservation of the neighborhood.
The School Street duplexes stand north of downtown Bennington, on the east side of School Street at its junction with County Street. The two buildings are nearly identical two-story wood frame structures, with side gable roofs, clapboard siding, and fieldstone foundations. Their front facades are four bays wide, with entrances in the center two bays. Each has a hipped-roof single-story porch extending across the front facade, with Queen Anne style turned balustrades and posts.

Stanton Heights is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's east city area. It has zip codes of both 15201 and 15206, and has representation on Pittsburgh City Council by the council member for District 7 (Northeast Central Neighborhoods). Stanton Heights is the home of PBF 7 Engine and the City's Arson Investigation Units, and is covered by PBP Zone 5 and the Bureau of EMS Medic 6. It is a quiet neighborhood with single homes and some duplexes.
The neighborhood that resulted from Steele's subdivision consists almost entirely of single-story houses, most of which were built in a "Free Classic" style that resembles the Queen Anne style of architecture. Some of the houses in the neighborhood are older than the neighborhood itself, such as three different double-pen houses that were constructed during the nineteenth century. These are areas of positive relief (topographic uplift), crustal shortening, and exhumation of crystalline basement. As seen in deeply eroded outcrop exposures or from subsurface geophysical surveys, restraining bends commonly define positive flower structures. In plan view we see them form contractional strike-slip duplexes, subparallel reverse or oblique-slip contractional faults that are bounded by two strike-slip segments. Restraining bends are widespread on the Earth's surface, from sub- outcrop-scale examples to large scale mountain ranges.
Missing-middle housing comes in a variety of building types and densities but may be characterized by a scale similar to that of single family housing, location in a walkable neighborhood, and a smaller amount of parking. Forms of missing middle housing may include side-by-side duplexes, stacked duplexes, bungalow courts, accessory dwelling units (carriage houses, basement apartments, etc.), fourplexes, multiplexes, townhomes, courtyard apartments, and live/work units. These building types typically have a residential unit density in the range of 16 to 30 units per acre but are often perceived as being less dense because they are smaller in scale. Because of its scale, missing middle housing may mix into single family neighborhoods, act as an end-grain of a single family housing block, act as a transition between higher density housing and single family housing, or act as a transition from a mixed use area to a single- family area. The resulting density may support broader community desires, including walkable retail, amenities, public transportation, and increased “feet on the street”.
Of the remaining dwellings, the majority are single-family dwellings, with roughly three out of four of these being owner occupied. There are a few duplexes, and most of these are rented. With construction of a new downtown arena and the expansion of MacEwan University, condo development has begun on the southern edge of Queen Mary Park spurring gentrification of the entire neighbourhood. New condo buildings include The Maxx, The Zen, The Horizon, and speculation of a nine-storey building abutting Oliver Square.
The Building at 106-108 Inman Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts is one of a series of well-preserved Greek Revival duplexes on Inman Street. This house was built in 1845, and features very straightforward Greek Revival styling, most notably in the pilasters that run the full two story height of the building, separating each of the front facade's bays. The building has a later Italianate porch sheltering the centered entrances. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
The company store, today used as a theater and antique shop, retains the same proportions but has more conventional windows along with street-level storefronts. The remaining structures in the district are all residential. Most prominent is the two-story, Colonial Revival Superintendent's House along Meridian Street, that has been renovated as offices for an adjacent auto repair shop. The majority of the workers houses are duplexes, although there are also twelve extant apartment buildings and a handful of single-family homes.
Strike slip duplexes occur at the step over regions of faults, forming a lens shaped near parallel arrays of horses. These occur between two or more large bounding faults which usually have large displacement. An idealized strike-slip fault runs in a straight line with a vertical dip and has only horizontal motion, thus there is no change in topography due to motion of the fault. In reality, as strike slip faults become large and developed, their behavior changes and becomes more complex.
Darling Heights lies on the southern edge of the city, on the west ridge. The land falls away steeply to the west toward Drayton, the slope being occupied by detached bungalow housing with an admixture of larger homes, duplexes and small blocks of units. Most of these dwellings are less than 10 years old, the area having previously been mostly horse paddocks, of which few remain. The homes and businesses in the western part of Darling Heights are considered part of Drayton.

St-Albert is looking to expand its population with a new street opening soon, giving homeowners a choice of single-family homes, duplexes and an apartment buildings. On February 3, 2013, a fire destroyed the St. Albert Cheese Factory, leaving 125 factory workers and 50 producers (roughly one fifth of the town’s population) unemployed for the foreseeable future. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The damage was estimated to be $25 million, though no one was injured.
Beginning in 1942, Black contractors Matthew Goodwin and "Duke" Hodges began building simple, low cost single family homes and duplexes for a growing working-class black neighborhood.Albert G. While the homes were modest, they were made of brick and many still stand today.
In October 1945, the Coast Guard sold the life-saving station, and for 54 years the building served as a private residence. From 1999 to 2010, a developer sought to demolish the building in favor of constructing three duplexes. After legal battles and intervention from local historic groups, Ocean City purchased the property in May 2010. After a $1.5 million renovation, the life-saving station reopened on December 31, 2017, and six months later reopened as the Ocean City Life-Saving Museum.
The Hyattsville Historic District is a residential neighborhood comprising a national historic district located in the city of Hyattsville, Prince George's County, Maryland. The district comprises approximately 600 structures, primarily houses, that exhibit late-19th and early-20th century design characteristics. The majority of residential buildings are of frame construction, the older ones with foundations of brick or (rarely) fieldstone, the newer of concrete. The architectural styles represented: grand "mansions," summer cottages, duplexes, Second Empire, Queen Anne, Italianate, Victorian, Bungalow, and Spanish.
Thrusts and duplexes are also found in accretionary wedges in the ocean trench margin of subduction zones, where oceanic sediments are scraped off the subducted plate and accumulate. Here, the accretionary wedge must thicken by up to 200% and this is achieved by stacking thrust fault upon thrust fault in a melange of disrupted rock, often with chaotic folding. Here, ramp flat geometries are not usually observed because the compressional force is at a steep angle to the sedimentary layering.
Missing Middle Housing consists of multi-unit housing types such as duplexes, fourplexes, bungalow courts, and mansion apartments that are not bigger than a large house, that are integrated throughout most walkable pre-1940s neighborhoods, often integrated into blocks with primarily single-family homes, and that provide diverse housing choices and generate enough density to support transit and locally-serving commercial amenities. Although many of these are a common feature in pre-war building stocks, these housing types have become much less common.
In 1819 a small cotton mill was built in the hollow created by the creek as it descends from Wappinger Lake to drain into the Hudson River. By 1856 it had become one of the largest printworks in the country. A fire that year destroyed the original buildings completely, but they were immediately rebuilt and continued in operation until 1931. The streets on the hillside opposite the mill are lined with frame houses, mostly duplexes, built by the mill for its workers.
In spite of these obstacles, Morris and Sternberg did achieve some limited improvements. They introduced duplexes, in contrast to the customary high-rise buildings or long barracks-like row houses that characterized most public housing of the day. The subdivision plan eliminated the conventional grid street pattern, resulting in greater intimacy and safety from traffic for the residents. In 1954 Eugene D. Sternberg and Associates were commissioned to design Sun Valley Homes Annex, a 220-unit addition to the original Public Housing Project.
Large single family homes, many of which serve as vacation rental properties, can be found along the beach strand at the east end of town, while on the west end, the ocean-front Oak Island Beach Villas feature condo rental units. Most of the full-time residents live clustered in and around the golf course in various types of housing: the Arboretum (single family homes) Caswell Dunes (patio homes and condo units), and Ocean Greens (single family, duplexes, townhouses, and luxury condos).
A DNA polymerase is a member of a family of enzymes that catalyze the synthesis of DNA molecules from nucleoside triphosphates, the molecular precursors of DNA. These enzymes are essential for DNA replication and usually work in groups to create two identical DNA duplexes from a single original DNA duplex. During this process, DNA polymerase "reads" the existing DNA strands to create two new strands that match the existing ones. These enzymes catalyze the chemical reaction : deoxynucleoside triphosphate + DNAn pyrophosphate + DNAn+1.
Each house had a yard and a privy building at the alley which contained a coal scuttle and garbage bin, all serviced by TCI sanitation department trucks. In the center of town a row of two-story supervisors' houses and two "tacherages" were built, housing the teachers at the Docena School and Docena Colored School. Later workers' houses, built after 1915, were constructed in other styles with varying rooflines, including shotguns, 6-room duplexes, and 4-room gabled houses with attached porches.
The government got out of the landlord business in 1957 when the real estate was sold to the residents. The Strathglass Park District is located in central Rumford, bounded by Lincoln Avenue, Hancock Street, Maine Avenue, and York Street. The main access to the area is via a stone gate off Maine Avenue, which quickly radiates out into three nearly-parallel streets, which are terminated to the north at Clachan Place. There is a narrow park near the northern end on Lochness Road, the central of the three main roads. All of the houses in this complex are duplexes, built of brick.
This is another mixed- use block, with a training centre at street level. The residential element within the area consists of 56 units: eight one-bedroom flats, two one-bedroom duplexes, 34 two-bedroom flats and 12 three-bedroom flats. Most of the building is five storeys high (the lowest floor being the training centre, with four residential floors above), but a further three storeys are incorporated within a tower in one corner. Again, no parking is allocated to this block.
In 1973 the Hawkeye Development Company purchased Oakwood Estate's remaining five acres and subdivided the land into 11 lots. Houses and duplexes were built around the mansion. One lot to the west, commonly known as 1515 East 33rd street, Des Moines Iowa, was left undeveloped for 23 years and acquired for the estate. A low-income-housing duplex to the west commonly known as 1525 East 33rd St was demolished in 2011, with the lot added to the estate in 2012.
Stone Hill Historic District is a national historic district in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is one of the original mill villages along the Jones Falls, having been developed circa 1845-1847 to house textile mill workers. Comprising seven blocks, the district includes 21 granite duplexes, a granite Superintendent's House, and a granite service building (now converted to a duplex)all owned by Mount Vernon Mills from 1845 to 1925. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
Its name comes from its historical association with the former West Eleventh Street Elevator, a funicular that was similar to the Fenelon Place Elevator to the south. For the most part the historic buildings here are single-family residences with their attendant out- buildings, although the number of out-buildings located here is relatively low. There is one apartment building and 46 duplexes. Some of the single- family houses were converted into multi-family residences, and then some of those were converted back.
The majority of housing units in Callingwood South are multi-family dwellings. In 2005, 1,207 or 55% of the dwelling units in Callingwood South were low-rise apartments (fewer than five storeys), 484 or 22% were high-rise apartments (five or more storeys), 384 or 17% were row houses, and 114 or 5% were duplexes. There were also 9 single-family dwellings and 1 manufactured home. Of the 2,199 total dwelling units, 1,610 or 73% were occupied by renters in 2005.
The state highway then meets Interstate 495 (I-495, Capital Beltway) at a partial cloverleaf interchange that is missing the movements between I-495 west and MD 193 west. The missing movements are completed by using US 29 south of Four Corners. After crossing the Capital Beltway, MD 193 continues south through residential suburban areas of Silver Spring, intersecting East Franklin Avenue. After meeting MD 320 and passing Quebec Terrace Park, the state highway turns southeast and enters an area of garden apartments and duplexes.
The borough is characterized by its spacious, wide- set semi-detached brick duplexes (and triplexes, four-plexes, and five-plexes — an architectural style unique to Montreal), backyard vegetable gardens, Italian bars (cafés), and pastry shops serving Italian-Canadian staples such as cannoli, sfogliatelle, and zeppole. At some times of year, it is possible to observe seasonal Italian traditions like the making of wine, cheese, sausage, and tomato sauce in quantity. These activities bring extended families and neighbours together and often spill out into front driveways.

In 2009, the ratio of owned dwellings to rented dwellings in Whitchurch–Stouffville was almost 6 to 1, compared to provincial average of 2.5 to 1.
Baxter Street is located in a densely- built residential area east of Quincy Center, south of Washington Street and east of Revere Street. It was laid out on a farm previously owned by Josiah Baxter. John E. Drake established a shoe factory a short way east of these houses in the 1870s (near the corner of Parmenter Place), and was employing 250 workers by the 1880s. He built the four duplexes in this district in the 1880s to provide residential space for some of his workers.
Hill by Summit Avenue showing the James J. Hill House and Cathedral The neighborhood was settled in the 1880s and 1890s with duplexes and apartment building settled alongside mansions. Early development of the area was limited due to the steep slopes of Summit and Ramsey hills. By the 1880s a portion of Summit-University had become the neighborhood in Saint Paul, after streetcar service made it accessible. Not all of Summit-University was populated by the rich, but the neighborhood was always middle class or better.
The H. C. Wells Double House is a historic house at 28-30 Dresser Street in Southbridge, Massachusetts. The 2.5 story wood frame duplex was built in the late 1880s or early 1890s by Hiram C. Wells, member of the Wells family which owned the locally important American Optical Company. It was one of several duplexes Wells built in the area as an income property. Although not as ornate as some Queen Anne houses, it features high quality construction methods despite a relatively simple symmetrical plan.
Hawthorne Army Depot surrounds the small town of Hawthorne, Nevada, where most of its employees reside. Prior to the facility becoming contractor- operated, it was staffed primarily by civil service workers and military personnel, who were housed on government owned property neighboring Hawthorne, including the now-abandoned town of Babbitt and military housing known as Schweer Drive. The housing in Babbitt was made up of large buildings created to be duplexes. The system of trusses allowed all interior walls to be removed without compromising their structure.
US 64 then continues on past Lawrenceburg, the largest city on the State line between Memphis and Interstate 65, to Chattanooga. then US 64 runs from Chattanooga to Cleveland, where it duplexes with US 74 to the North Carolina state line. The Tennessee Department of Transportation is currently working to expand the highway to four lanes across the state. The easternmost portion of the highway in Tennessee is the Ocoee Scenic Byway, a winding, two-lane road through the Ocoee River gorge in Polk County.
Hausen's research focused on developmental biology. In the course of his work on cellular differentiation and the regulation of transcription in eukaryotes, his research group discovered ribonuclease H, a family of enzymes that selectively degrades the RNA component of mixed RNA/DNA duplexes. He is especially well recognized for studies of the development of the model organism Xenopus laevis (African clawed frog). With Metta Riebesell, he coauthored a widely used and well-reviewed reference work on the topic, The early development of Xenopus laevis.
The Astaka Tower The Astaka Tower A is the tallest skyscraper in Johor Bahru at a height of with 70 storeys. Opened in 2018 in the Iskandar Malaysia Zone A, it houses 438 apartments, including penthouse duplexes. It is located at Bukit Senyum, near the city centre, and has a swimming lap pool and a function room. In addition, The Astaka Tower B is the second tallest skyscraper in Johor Bahru and future plans for a new hotel, mall and office tower are ongoing.
The Mount Savage Historic District is a national historic district in Mount Savage, Allegany County, Maryland. It comprises 189 19th and 20th century buildings, structures, and sites within this industrial community northwest of Cumberland. The structures reflect the community's development as a center of the iron, coal, brick, and railroad industries from the 1830s to the early 20th century. Included are a set of vertical-board duplexes on Old Row built about 1840, and possibly the earliest examples of workers' housing remaining in the region.
The last development phase of the Story Addition began in 1927 when "New Story" opened, covering the from 11th to I 5th Avenues, between McDowell Road and Roosevelt Street. At $3000 to $4000, building restrictions were slightly lower here and duplexes were permitted in certain sections. In July 1927, the developers, Lane-Smith Investment Company, encouraged sales by having A.F. Wasielewski Construction Company construct a "model home" at 1106 West Lynwood, a novel idea for the period. By September, forty more homes had been built.

In 1941, four days before the events of Pearl Harbor, a subdivision of 156 homes named "Edmundson Terrace" was offered for sale to the public. This was one of St. Louis County's first subdivisions. On May 12, 1948, Edmundson Terrace was incorporated as the Village of Edmundson, a village under Missouri law. By 1965, Edmundson had tripled or quadrupled in area; it had a population of 2500, which included 415 single-family homes, a row of duplexes, and 315 units at the Bobbie Downs Apartments.

Precursor transcripts from TAS loci are polyadenylated and converted to double-stranded RNA, and are then processed into 21-nucleotide-long RNA duplexes with overhangs. These segments are incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) and direct the sequence-specific cleavage of target mRNA. Ta-siRNAs are classified as siRNA because they arise from double-stranded RNA (dsRNA).
Westport: Greenwood, 1980. pp. 227-248. In the past ten years the homes were cleared out and replaced with suburban-style single-family homes and duplexes, and other public and senior housing exists on Fairmount Avenue, 8th St., 13th St., etc. Some original row houses remain, mostly south of Fairmount Avenue and west of the SEPTA line. The Friends Housing Cooperative (FHC) is a residential housing complex which exists on one square block between Fairmount Avenue, Franklin Street, Brown Street and North 8th Street.
The Byrd Park Court Historic District encompasses a small, well-preserved residential subdivision in western Richmond, Virginia. Located just east of William Byrd Park, nearly opposite the Swan Lake Drive entrance, stands Byrd Park Court, a loop road on which are set six duplexes and six single-family houses. A stone gate flanks the entrance, and the center of the loop has a grassy area with a water fountain. The houses were built in the 1920s, in a variety of period revival styles with Craftsman touches.
Freak accidents destroyed much of the wood intended for the fort's construction. As a result, only one duplex of the five planned officers quarters (four duplexes and post commandant's house) was built by 1844, and the intended enlisted barracks were not completed. In his 1844 inspection of the fort, Colonel George Croghan reported that, in comparison to other frontier forts, he considered Fort Scott "above average". Due to the rising tensions that escalated in the Mexican–American War, the US Army redeployed troops to the Southwest.
After the logs were hauled to the landing, a separate machine called a loader, loaded them with tongs or heel-booms onto rail cars or diesel engine trucks. Loaders were sometimes called duplexes as they had two steam engines to control the tongs. A large machine with a yarder and loader combined is called a unit. In the 1950s steam engines were replaced by diesel engine, and war-surplus tank chassis, which provided a frame for the new yarders, now that rail mounted ones were obsolete.
Originally the site of a foundry in the 19th century, Lawton's mill turned out fine combed cotton textiles, reaching a maximum capacity of 130,000 spindles and employing as many as 1,200 people. Between 1906 and 1911 Lawton built 125 Colonial Revival duplexes as housing for some of those workers. The success of the mill prompted the growth of Plainfield's commercial district, including the construction of an opera house, bank, and several large commercial blocks. The company suffered financial reverses during the Great Depression, and closed in 1936.
Berwyn is a very diverse community, with some larger homes on its south side and many smaller, bungalow-type homes on the north side around Roosevelt Road and Cermak Road. The town also has many duplexes and three unit buildings. Because of the predominance of small residences in Berwyn, the community has an unusually low carbon footprint. According to data published by the Center for Neighborhood Technology, Berwyn had the lowest per capita CO2 emissions from homes and private vehicles in the Chicago area.
Residential sections of Calumet surround the central business district, primarily on the west and north. Many of these were built by the Calumet & Hecla Company during the copper boom years of 1870–1910, primarily in the form of single-family homes or duplexes. Many of these company homes are -story wood-frame houses, sided with clapboard or shingling, sitting on mine rock foundations and having a gabled roof. Much of the residential housing stock is relatively unchanged from original construction, save the addition of other siding materials and front porch renovations.
Baltimore Block is a series of eight rowhouses in the SoNo district of Atlanta, Georgia. Rowhouses of the kind that are abundant in Baltimore are an unusual housing type in Atlanta, where duplexes or semidetached housing, such as shotgun houses, were more common forms of high-density housing. Built in 1885 by Baltimore native Jacob J. Rosenthal, the houses were leased on long- term ground lease terms, a common practice in Baltimore. By the 1920s, the houses began to fall out of fashion, and four units were torn down while the others became derelict.
Multiplex throws can be further classified depending upon the position of the balls in the air after the throw is made. In the case of duplexes, two balls side by side is a horizontal duplex, and two balls one above the other is a vertical duplex. This terminology can be applied to either the stack, split or cut duplex types of throw. So, a vertical stacked duplex refers to two balls being thrown together, one above the other in the air, and caught together in the same or other hand.

U.S. Coast Guard housing at Hamilton Field, DODHF Novato The U.S. Coast Guard currently owns 282 Spanish-style duplexes and homes; these units were part of the old Hamilton Air Force Base housing. Due to the buildings' age, there is a need for maintenance, and many housing units are vacant, boarded up and in caretaker status.
The former village of East Royalty occupies the northeast portion of the city. It lies east of the airport and northeast of Riverside Drive, fronting the East (Hillsborough) River. The southern part of the neighbourhood is dominated by the Hillsborough Park subdivision, developed by the provincial government in the 1970s and 1980s to provide affordable housing, which contains a variety of apartment buildings, townhouses, duplexes, as well as smaller single-family homes. The northern part of East Royalty is defined by St. Peters Road and Norwood Road, occupying small farming areas and several new subdivisions.

The John Halloran House is a historic house at 99 E. Squantum Street in Quincy, Massachusetts. This two-family wood frame house was built in 1910 for John Halloran, a local police officer. It is a well-preserved Colonial Revival example of duplexes that were commonly built in the Atlantic neighborhood of Quincy, with a fine balustraded porch, and an entrance with long sidelight windows and oval window in the door. Berkeley Mill Village is a historic district encompassing the mill village of Berkeley in Cumberland, Rhode Island. The village is roughly bounded by Martin Street and Mendon Road on the north and east, railroad tracks to the west, and St. Joseph Cemetery to the south. The village, including a mill complex and mill employee housing, was built in 1872 by the Lonsdale Company. Most of the residential structures built are two-story brick duplexes, although Mendon Street is lined with a number of fine Queen Anne Victorian houses.
The Borough is a mostly residential community that is separated into East and West by the Business District that runs along and surrounds Old York Road (Route 611) corridor. It was completed in 1989 and has 34 floors and stands at a height of 312 feet (95 meters). The 443-unit, 34-story residential condominium tower contains studio apartments, one and two bedroom units, and three bedroom duplexes. It was developed by the Lefrak Organization of Rego Park, Queens together with Melvin Simon & Associates of Indianapolis and the Glimcher Company of Columbus, Ohio..
In 1948, the Houston Estate and Planning Commission recruited architect Eero Saarinen to design the master plan for a proposed suburban development called "Cathedral Hills". Houston began development of the Cathedral Hills plan, which was renamed to "Andorra". The development included plans for over 5,000 single-family homes, duplexes, and apartments designed by Robert Rodes McGoodwin, although only 400 were ever built. Houston created an "Indenture of Covenants" for Andorra homeowners, which included stipulations such as no signs larger than one square foot, no “noxious, dangerous, or offensive behavior”, and a ban on raising livestock.

The Holden–Leonard Mill is located northwest of downtown Bennington, on the eastern bank of the Walloomsac River, bounded by Holden and Leonard Streets to the north and south, and Benmont Avenue to the east. There are eleven buildings fronting on Benmont Avenue, and two that face Holden Street. Nos. 46-56 Gloucester Street are technically and aesthetically significant in providing an innovative response to provision of housing on a sloping site, incorporating two storey duplexes that fit into the stepped topography. Telegraph Hill, 1856 North Beach is bounded by the former Barbary Coast, now Jackson Square, the Financial District south of Broadway, Chinatown to the southwest of Columbus below Green Street, Russian Hill to the west, Telegraph Hill to the east and Fisherman's Wharf at Bay Street to the north. Main intersections are Union and Columbus, the southwest corner of Washington Square, Grant Avenue and Vallejo Street. The somewhat compact layout of the neighborhood consists of apartments, duplexes, and Victorian homes dating from the 1920s, when residents rebuilt the neighborhood from its complete destruction after the earthquake and fire of 1906.
Irish immigrants had lived primarily farther north, but they began to populate the southern part of Lower Providence between 1860 and 1880 as the population of Providence doubled to nearly 105,000. Woodruff Place is bounded on the west by the campus of Arsenal Technical High School, which opened in 1912 on the former site of the Indianapolis Arsenal, and which still uses several historic buildings from the arsenal. Woodruff Place was once considered to be one of Indianapolis's more affluent neighborhoods before beginning a gradual decline as the automobile led to the development of newer upscale subdivisions beginning in the late 1910s. The area that is now Union Village first saw industrial activity around 1794, when one of Connecticut's first cotton mills was erected on the banks of the Hockanum River in what was then part of East Hartford. It contains 624 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, and 1 contributing structure in a residential neighborhood in South Arlington. Aurora Highlands was formed by the integration of three subdivisions platted between 1896 and 1930, with improvements in the form of modest single-family residences. The district is characterized by single family dwellings with a number of twin dwellings and duplexes, three churches, a rectory, two schools, two landscaped parks, and commercial buildings. Duplexes occur where there are two decollement levels close to each other within a sedimentary sequence, such as the top and base of a relatively strong sandstone layer bounded by two relatively weak mudstone layers. When a thrust that has propagated along the lower detachment, known as the floor thrust, cuts up to the upper detachment, known as the roof thrust, it forms a ramp within the stronger layer. With continued displacement on the thrust, higher stresses are developed in the footwall of the ramp due to the bend on the fault. The City of Seattle proposed to remove regulatory barriers in their Land Use Code to make it easier for property owners to create accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and increase the number and variety of housing choices in Seattle’s primarily single-family zones.
The boundaries of the neighborhood are 6th Avenue at the south end, West Colfax Avenue at the northern end, Cherry Creek on the east side and the South Platte River on the west side. Interstate 25 runs north-south through the western part of the neighborhood. Housing in the neighborhood includes many single family detached houses, including two-story brick Victorians, row houses, duplexes, brick bungalows and one-story stucco houses. Prominent housing developments include the Parkway Center apartment and condominium complex, with 1,050 units, at 12th and Galapago Street, Denver Tower Complex with condos, supermarket and offices (both fronting on Speer Boulevard from 14th to 12th).
The land included in the Warren–Prentis Historic District was originally the Park Lots, the Cass Farm, and the Jones/Crane Farm; these parcels were subdivided in the late 19th century. Due in part to the large lot sizes and the streetcar lines along Woodward and Third, the district became popular with upper-class Detroit businessmen and professionals moving away from downtown. A number of these citizens moved into the area in the period between 1880 and 1895, commissioning residences. In the late 1880s, apartment living became more popular, and the construction of duplexes and small apartments increased while the construction of single-family homes dropped off.
The same tornado later crossed into Missouri and struck the town of Malden, where numerous homes were heavily damaged and several people were injured. Also in Missouri, several homes in the town of Matthews had their roofs ripped off as the result of an EF2 tornado. Another EF2 tornado touched down in the eastern part of Clarksville, Tennessee as well, where several homes and duplexes were damaged or destroyed, and many vehicles and a few buildings were damaged at an industrial complex. A total of 30 tornadoes were confirmed as a result of this outbreak, which resulted in two fatalities and at least 20 injuries.

Multi-unit housing, also known as multi-family housing, is defined by the sharing of walls between units in a building. A multi-family building consists of two or more attached units including duplexes, apartment buildings, condominium complexes, senior and assisted living facilities, and long-term health care facilities. Different jurisdictions have had more or less inclusive definitions within their smoke-free ordinances. Currently, the definition of multi-unit housing does not include mobile home parks, campgrounds, marinas and ports, single family homes (unless they are child care or healthcare facilities, or have an in-law/second unit), hotels or motels (under California Civil Code section 1940, subdivision (b)(2).
XPC-RAD23B recognizes a wide variety of lesions that thermodynamically destabilize DNA duplexes, including UV-induced photoproducts (cyclopyrimidine dimers and 6-4 photoproducts ), adducts formed by environmental mutagens such as benzo[a]pyrene or various aromatic amines, certain oxidative endogenous lesions such as cyclopurines and adducts formed by cancer chemotherapeutic drugs such as cisplatin. The presence of XPC-RAD23B is required for assembly of the other core NER factors and progression through the NER pathway both in vitro and in vivo. Although most studies have been performed with XPC-RAD23B, it is part of a trimeric complex with centrin-2, a calcium-binding protein of the calmodulin family.
Christeele Acres Historic District is a residential subdivision in Orem, Utah, built in 1943 as housing for workers at the Geneva Steel plant during World War II. The historic district includes 62 single-family houses and three duplexes. and The houses were built to Federal Housing Administration (FHA) "minimum house" standards, which were considered to be the minimum size of a house necessary for a family with three persons or a family with two small children. The houses had two bedrooms and approximately of living space. In May 1941, the United States government asked U.S. Steel to ramp up plans to build steel plants to service shipyards on the Pacific Coast.
This technique has also become a routine part of lab practice all around the world. He was a coauthor on a third fundamentally important research report showing that RNA interference could be routinely used to "knock down" the expression of major cellular proteins, work he performed with Thomas Tuschl and collaborators. A few weeks work in Weber's lab produced the highly influential paper "Duplexes of 21-nucleotide RNAs mediate RNA interference in cultured mammalian cells". This paper set the stage for the widespread use of RNA interference to turn off the expression of normal genes in mammalian systems, a centrally important cell biological technique.
Parks, taxation, and public housing are semi-independent boards and levy their own taxes and fees subject to Board of Estimate and Taxation limits. and Lisa Bender is the current president of the City Council. In 2018, the city council passed the Minneapolis Comprehensive 2040 Plan and submitted it for Metropolitan Council approval. Watched nationally, the plan rezones predominantly single-family residential neighborhoods for triplexes to increase affordable housing, seeks to reduce the effects of climate change, and tries to rectify some of the city's racial disparities. After the Metropolitan Council approved the plan, in November 2019 the city council voted unanimously to allow duplexes and triplexes citywide.
Currently, the City of Vancouver is researching the feasibility of preserving this building, as well the historically significant 2400 motel on Kingsway, though the future of both sites is very much in doubt. In 2007, the City of Vancouver announced the Norquay Village Neighbourhood Centre Program, one of several neighbourhood centre programs it plans to implement as part of its Eco-Density initiative. If the program goes ahead, much of Renfrew–Collingwood will be re-zoned from single-family homes to duplexes, with areas along some of the busier streets zoned for rowhouses. The idea is to increase density and encourage the development of shopping centres along Earles and Rupert streets.

Amenities include two NCGA-rated golf courses (one nine-hole and one 18-hole), a large indoor pool and fitness complex, two outdoor pools, six tennis courts, lawn bowling greens, bocce courts, hiking trails and table tennis facilities.
Deming was frustrated by the existence of Roxboro Elementary School and Roxboro Junior High School on the south side of the western half of West St. James Parkway, and by several low-quality duplexes on the south side of the eastern half of West St. James. To protect the Euclid Golf Allotment, Deming contracted with Howell & Thomas to design 14 cottages for construction on the north side of West St. James to screen these low- quality homes from the rest of the development. These were built in the 1910s, with four more in the 1920s. Ten of the 18 houses were in the Colonial Revival style.

The rich history of this area, particularly the streets close to the north and west city limits, has been all but lost to time. Part of the area dates to before the Civil War, and at one time it was the location of the popular amusement center Suburban Garden at Kennerly and Hodiamont, but its greatest growth came in the 1920s and 1930s with a mixture of single family homes, duplexes, four-family flats and apartment buildings. Before World War II the area was considered a particularly attractive community in which to live and rear a family. Hard to believe today, but it was semi-rural.
Most of the houses were built between the 1880s and 1929, and are set on small relatively near the street. The complex will include a swimming pool, indoor gym, spa, and synagogue; there will also be a concierge service and a 24-hour surveillance system. Initially, geneticists assumed that the junction would adopt a parallel rather than antiparallel conformation, because that would place the homologous duplexes in closer alignment to each other. The Oak Lawn neighborhood includes a row of commercial block buildings on 8th Avenue, a store on 6th Avenue, four brick or brick veneer commercial buildings on Hillabee St., a warehouse, two more churches, and many residences (mostly one-story wood houses, but some duplexes and one triplex). The two areas are divided by Central of Georgia railroad tracks.

The longest-tenured president in the school's history to date (1940–1966), Johnson's presidency at Asbury College was marked by growth, both of the student body and the campus physical plant. Campus improvements during his administration included an amphitheater, a 9-hole golf course, an athletic field with a quarter-mile track, a farm, twenty-one duplexes, a triplex, an 18-unit apartment, eight faculty homes, five dormitories (including the Johnson Men's Dormitory), a student center, fine arts building, a library addition, a science hall, and the Z.T. In the early 1970s, the part of the suburb south of what is now Reid Highway was built, and in 1973, Carine High School opened. For several years, the high school and the Carine Gardens Caravan Park and surrounding market gardens on Balcatta Road were the only facilities in the suburb. From 1975 onwards, the residential suburb was built progressively, with the last two stages being completed in 1987, west of Osmaston Road and the Lake Carine Gardens estate (built on a site originally reserved for a school to serve eastern Carine). The majority of buildings were single detached houses but, with the growth in popularity of infill development, duplexes have become more common.
Saddleback Ridge, or Saddleback, is atop the West Hill immediately behind Misery Mountain and south of Highway 2 behind an industrial area. Rolling Hills neighbourhood is often considered to be part of Saddleback, although it is separate neighbourhood of single detached housing with some duplexes and row housing. Saddleback consists mostly of single detached housing, and after a bylaw amendment allowed medium density housing and not high density residential. Saddleback Ridge neighbourhood at the foot of Misery Mountain Westbrook Estates is approximately 1 kilometre south of Saddleback, west of 80 Street separated by a stretch of undeveloped wilderness with trails through which St. Germain Creek and one of its tributaries cut while flowing to the Peace River.
It was laid out along four streets: Foley, Savage, Vermillion, and Ellis, with Vermillion and Ellis functioning as the main streets running southwest, perpendicular to the AER. Most of Savage and Foley Streets never saw permanent housing, and instead were used to park boxcars that functioned as overflow housing. The town did, however, have a few amenities, including a post office, club house, general store, school, town hall, jail, hockey rink, baseball field, and ice house. Vermillion and Ellis streets contained permanent housing of ten duplexes and ten detached dwellings, along with apartments above the two-storey general store, and were also serviced with sewer and water; the entire town also featured electric power.
The house is split into two main units: one housing the main family and kids, and the other housing the grandparents, and public and private access to both units through a communal staircase. This unique living condition was determined by the local zoning in Victoria BC that prevented the development of a duplex on the site, but instead allowed for a main building accompanied with a secondary suite. The plan layout consists of both living suites to be facing each other in a north- south orientation rather than a typical side-by-side layout seen in duplexes. This would allow both spaces to feel a sense of width close to a "typical house".
The Strathglass Park District, located in Rumford, Maine, encompasses one of the nation's finest early 20th-century mill worker housing complexes. Funded by Hugh J. Chisholm, owner of Rumford's paper mill, and designed by Cass Gilbert, the district encompasses a collection of 50 high quality brick duplexes, of similar yet varied construction, which were built in 1901-2 on a series of tree-lined streets, with a small park at the center. As of the district's listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, only one of the Gilbert-designed houses had been destroyed. The company divested itself of the houses in the late 1940s, with most being sold to their occupants.

The federal government did, however, build a large number of red brick duplexes for sale to African American veterans on 54th Street SE between C Street and Central Avenue. Funds for clearing Marshall Heights were deleted from the 1948 housing bill by the United States House of Representatives after protests by Marshall Heights residents and by John Ihlder, executive director of the National Capital Housing Authority.; In 1949, President Harry S. Truman proposed spending $2 million to purchase land and raze all structures in Marshall Heights.; The NCPC reported that just 30 percent of the homes in Marshall Heights had running water and sewer service, and that 86 percent of the homes in the neighborhood were so substandard that they should be razed.
Albert Raisner became the leading talent discoverer and was among the first to air rock 'n' roll music. An iconic figure of the 'ye-ye' era (1960s), he introduced to France and supported many French, American and international artists including Ray Charles, Gene Vincent, Johnny Hallyday, The Beatles, Sheila, Claude Francois, Henri Salvador, the Beach Boys, Eddy Mitchell, Joan Baez, Dalida, Salvatore Adamo, Michel Polnareff, Stevie Wonder, Gigiola Cinquietti, Enrico Macias, Sylvie Vartan, Francois Hardy and Adriano Celentano. The show was remembered for its jovial, high energy style, its duplexes and multiplexes with artists around the world, the close proximity between the audience and the stars, and the prohibition of play-back. Albert Raisner also designed the show's mascot, the 'Bonhomme Tete de Bois', to his image.

Automobile giant John DeLorean, TV judge Greg Mathis, and classic Motown group The Spinners all called Herman Gardens home. After problems had occurred in the buildings from the illegal drug trade in the early 1980s, the Detroit Housing Commission (DHC) applied for HOPE VI funds under the 1996 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA), it intended to reduce the number of public housing units from 1,573 to 672. By August 1996, HUD had approved the demolition of 685 units using other (non-HOPE VI) funds, and the HOPE VI application proposed demolishing another 538 units. The application proposed renovating 274 of those existing units and building 222 new houses, along with 92 single-family houses and 84 duplexes, for a total of 672 units at the revitalized site.

Thus, the lower segment and the upper thrust sheet are undergoing prograde metamorphism and retrograde metamorphism respectively. Nevertheless, special attention should be taken to the effect of multiple thrusting such as duplexes, where the initial lower plate in an earlier thrust would become the upper plate in a later thrusting event.
US 33 interchange in Bellefontaine, Ohio US 68 takes a south–north route throughout Ohio, roughly paralleling Interstate 75 but covering counties one tier to the east of those counties covered by I-75. US 68 begins at the William H. Harsha Bridge over the Ohio River and duplexes with U.S. Route 52 for 5.6 miles while travelling on the north bank of the river. The highways separate at Ripley, at which point US 68 heads north as a generally rural two-lane highway, passing through or bypassing communities such as Georgetown, Mount Orab, Fayetteville, Wilmington, Xenia, and Yellow Springs. The bridge "locks" the ribose in the 3'-endo (North) conformation, which is often found in the A-form duplexes. LNA nucleotides can be mixed with DNA or RNA residues in the oligonucleotide whenever desired and hybridize with DNA or RNA according to Watson-Crick base-pairing rules. The locked ribose conformation enhances base stacking and backbone pre-organization.
Lutheran Hillside Village (first building opened 1963) in Peoria, IL A continuing care retirement community (CCRC), sometimes known as a life plan community, is a type of retirement community in the U.S. where a continuum of aging care needs—from independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care—can all be met within the community. These various levels of shelter and care may be housed on different floors or wings of a single high-rise building or in physically adjacent buildings, such as garden apartments, cottages, duplexes, mid- and low-rise buildings, or spread out in a campus setting. The emphasis of the CCRC model is to enable residents to avoid having to move, except to another level of care within the community, if their needs change.
The Mount Rainier Historic District is a national historic district located at Mount Rainier, Prince George's County, Maryland, which began as a streetcar suburb located northeast of Washington, D.C. The district was built on a gently rolling rural landscape from about 1900 to 1940. The district contains more than 1,000 buildings, which are modestly scaled, detached, single-family, frame houses sited closely together with common setbacks. It consists primarily of single-family homes, with some small apartment buildings, a few duplexes, and single family homes that include a small storefront, usually located at the corner of an intersection. With the exception of five churches and a bank building known to have been designed by local architects, the remainder of the district's buildings are vernacular in character.

There are three maisonette apartments, units which have entrances from the street as well as from the building's interior lobby. The duplexes on the southern side of the building form the A Line, each unit of which is approximately 5,500 square feet. These apartments typically have a 600-square- foot living room facing Central Park, and a 450-square-foot dining room and 300-square-foot library along the 64th Street side of the building. Most of these units have four to six bedrooms on their upper floors. Unit 13-14A is 4,750 square feet (as well as approximately 350 square feet of terraces) and Unit 15A is a 2,000 square foot simplex type apartment with approximately 250 square feet of terrace space.
The original design for 834 called for a midblock 120-foot- wide building, but it was asymmetrically extended southward during construction after a holdout corner mansion was acquired by the developer. Because this happened with the steel frame of the building's structure already in place, the extra 30 feet of frontage would be allocated as a line of duplex apartments, so that the original developer blueprints remained more or less intact. All the apartments were designed with high ceilings, and several units have outdoor space.
