A friggebod In Sweden, a friggebod is a small house which can be built without any planning permission on a land lot with a single-family or a duplex house. It is named after Birgit Friggebo, who was the Minister for Housing in 1979 when the new type of building was allowed. The word is a portmanteau of Friggebo and bod, the Swedish word for shed.

The Ralph W. Shattuck House is a historic duplex house at 274-276 Broadway in Arlington, Massachusetts. The 2-1/2 story wood frame double house was built c. 1875, and is one of the best-preserved Italianate houses in the town. It has a heavily bracketed cornice line, a bracketed hood sheltering the two entrances, and decorative window surrounds with small brackets at the lintel.

Lloyd George was born to parents Austin and Myrtle George in a duplex house in Cordova, Alabama on June 27, 1924. In 1930, Austin operated a cafeteria and Myrtle worked in a cotton mill. About 1931, they moved to the mill village in Haleyville, Alabama, where better jobs were available, and where Lloyd went to school. He ordered a cheap guitar from Sears and Roebuck and always loved music.

The E. H. Brabrook House is an historic duplex house in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is a two-story wood frame structure, six bays wide, with a side gable roof and a porch extending across its front facade. It was built in 1849 by Ezra Brabrook, a local furniture dealer. It is one of the first Italianate houses in Old Cambridge, retaining distinctive Greek Revival characteristics such as its corner pilasters and front door sidelight windows, while including an Italianate wide cornice and brackets.

The Thomas Brackett Reed House is a historic brick duplex house at 30–32 Deering Street in Portland, Maine. Built in 1876, the house was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1975 for its association with Thomas Brackett Reed (1839–1902), Speaker of the House of Representatives (1889–1891 and 1895–1899). Reed owned and occupied number 32 from 1888 until his death in 1902. He was notable for significantly increasing the power of the House Speaker, introducing a set of rules known as the Reed Rules that still govern debate in that body today.

The Sarah H. Harding House is a historic duplex house at 6-8 Harding Street in Andover, Massachusetts. It was built in 1846 for Sarah Harding, a single woman who belonged to the locally notable Harding family (for whom Harding Street is named). She had the Greek Revival duplex built to provide housing for single women of modest means at a time when such housing was relatively uncommon. The building is 2.5 stories tall, with entry to both units through matching doors in the center of the six-bay facade.

On February 12, 2015, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, received a tip through Crime Stoppers that three persons were planning to commit a mass killing at the Halifax Shopping Centre. Two of the suspects, Randall Steven Shepherd, 20, of Timberlea, and Lindsay Kanittha Souvannarath, 23, from Geneva, Illinois, had access to firearms and presented a threat. In the early morning of February 13, police staked out Gamble's duplex house in Timberlea, a small suburb outside of Halifax. After both of Gamble's parents had left the house and been questioned by police, police entered the house and found the third plot suspect, 19-year- old James Gamble, deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Notable buildings and sites include Well Fields, Saltville Golf Course, Office Building (1850), Mathieson Alkali Office Building (1894), company store (1895), First National Bank of Saltville, St. Paul's Episcopal Church (1896), Gothic Revival style Madam Russell Memorial United Methodist Church, Duplex House (1894), Saltville Post Office (1931), Piggly-Wiggly Store, Saltville Savings Bank (1920), and Saltville Town Hall (1949).

Beaux-Arts apartment building at 611 West 158th Street at Riverside Drive, part of the Historic District The Audubon Park Historic District is located on five blocks in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, between West 155th Street and West 158th Street, and between Broadway and Edward M. Morgan Place on the east and Riverside Drive West on the west. It consists of 19 large apartment buildings and one duplex house, and abuts the Audubon Terrace Historic District on the southeast. It is named for naturalist John James Audubon, who purchased 20 acres of land there in 1841, at a time when the area was still mostly farms, woodland and the country estates of the rich. After his death, the estate was sold off in parcels for development by Audubon's widow, which is when it became known as "Audubon Park".

An over-and-under two story apartment duplex in Southeastern Pennsylvania A duplex house plan has two living units attached to each other, either next to each other as townhouses, condominiums or above each other like apartments. By contrast, a building comprising two attached units on two distinct properties is typically considered semi-detached or twin homes but is also called a duplex in parts of the Northeastern United States. The term "duplex" is not extended to three-unit and four-unit buildings, as they would be referred to with specific terms such as three-family (or triplex) and fourplex (or quadplex/quadruplex) or a more general multiplex. Because of the flexibility of the term, the line between an apartment building and a duplex is somewhat blurred, with apartment buildings tending to be bigger, while duplexes are usually the size of a single-family house.

Will Carlson is a 20-something loser who lives in a duplex house in a rundown neighborhood in New Jersey, where he ekes out a living as a birthday party clown in order to pay the rent for his abusive mother's nursing home and the rent on his rundown house. Despite the difficulties of the job, clowning is Will's one escape from the realities of his miserable existence: Will genuinely likes kids, and takes great joy from making them happy on their birthdays. Struggling to make ends meet, but not wanting to give up his dream job, Will comes up with the idea to be a "bachelor party clown." Will's idea is that men throwing bachelor parties can hire him as well as a stripper; Will enters the room prior to the "real" entertainment, wearing clown makeup and lingerie, tricking the bachelor into thinking that there was a mix-up and a gay clown stripper has been sent in lieu of a female one.
