London Tradition Ltd is a clothing designer and manufacturer, specialising in traditional British duffle coats, pea coats and trench coats. The company was founded in January 2001 by Mamun Chowdhury and Rob Huson, is based in London, England, and has around 100 employees.

Chowdhury used his designing skills to design and develop his own range. In January 2001, he set up London Tradition with Rob Huson, a city fashion Executive, designing and manufacturing luxury duffle coats. The company now exports 40,000 to 50,000 coats a year, 90% of its output, and has seen overseas sales rise by 865% between 2007-2013. In July 2014, the company was awarded a Queen's Award for Enterprise for International Trade in recognition of its business performance.

Mohammad Tarak Ramzan (born January 1953) is a British businessman, and the founder and CEO of the Quiz womenswear retail chain. Ramzan was born in the Southside area of Glasgow, Scotland. In 1947, his father arrived in Scotland from Pakistan, and started a business making duffle coats, kilts, and tartan pinafores, before returning to Pakistan, with his son taking over a staff of 30 at the age of 18. As of early 2017, Quiz had more than 300 stores and outlets worldwide, and employed 1500 people.

The Scottish fishwives of Newhaven had a reputation for their beauty and industry and so were celebrated by royalty -- George IV and Queen Victoria. They were hard-bargainers though, and all the fishermen of the Firth of Forth brought their catches to Newhaven for the fishwives to sell in Edinburgh. The fishwives wore distinctive costumes of blue duffle coats covering layers of colourful striped petticoats with a muslin cap or other similar headdress. Their fish, such as haddock and herring, were carried on their backs in creels.

This was supported by setting up his own factory to manufacture garments in the UK. In 1996, he changed his business model and focused only on high-end outerwear and worked with some of UK's top designers. He concentrated on making British traditional outerwear, including duffle coats. In 1998, his business was large enough to provide opportunities for fashion students to gain work experience.

The founders insist that their garments are, have always been and will continue to be designed and manufactured in London.

Harry received a National Diploma in design while at the Liverpool Art College and became the first student in the new Graphic Design course, eventually winning a Senior City Art Scholarship. Harry maintained that students at art college should be bohemian in their thoughts and actions and not like the "dilettantes and dabblers", whom Harry disapproved of for wearing duffle coats and turtle neck sweaters. One of the college's artists and teachers, Arthur Ballard, later stated that Harry and Sutcliffe both overshadowed Lennon at college, explaining that they were both "extremely well educated, and very eager for information".
