The 1934 Wimbledon singles champion Dorothy Round played H.W. "Bunny" Austin (Wimbledon singles finalist in 1932) on 31 July 1936 at Jesmond Towers, Newcastle, England. The hard-fought match, played under a handicapping system (Round receiving 15 and Austin owing 30) was abandoned as a one-set-all draw, Round winning the first set 7–5 and Austin the second, 8–6.

The first two rounds were composed entirely of 32 amateur teams. The eight winners of the second round ties were joined in round 3 by the 16 League 1 teams including for the first time a Canadian team, the Toronto Wolfpack. For the fourth round the 12 Championship teams were included in the draw. Round 5 saw four Super League teams entering the competition.

In 2020, Kasatkina first participated in Auckland, where she defeated Carla Suárez Navarro before falling to Amanda Anisimova in the second round. At Adelaide, she progressed through qualifying, before being defeated by Belinda Bencic in the first main draw round. At the Australian Open, she lost to Madison Keys in the first round. At St. Petersburg, she lost in the first round to Ekaterina Alexandrova, and, at Dubai, was forced to enter qualifying.

Her last event ended in a first round loss in San Diego, and her ranking dipped to 159. She went 15–28 on the season. She fell in the final round of qualifying yet again in the 2009 Australian Open, and didn't enter into a WTA tournament until she was given the opportunity to qualify for the Bell Challenge. She did manage to qualify, but lost to Amra Sadiković in the opening main draw round.

Among the items featured in the online store was an interactive DVD game by Imagination Entertainment based on the series' format, which was released at the time the second season premiered. The game plays similarly to the show, beginning with a "Bingo Draw" round. During this round, players attempt to be the first to earn a "Bingo" while accumulating points by correctly answering trivia questions.

Cicma's first ATP Tour professional event was in October 2002 at the age of 20 at the 2002 Miller Lite Hall of Fame Championships in doubles with Greg Schweitzer. They lost in the round of 16 to Gabriel Trifu and Glenn Weiner. Cicma and Schweitzer began 2003 at the Forest Hills Challenger 2003, they were defeated in the first round by Federico Browne and Ignacio Hirigoyen before their loss in Atlantic City challenger 2003 to Bjorn Rehnquist and Marcus Sarstrand. Cicma and Schweitzer began 2004 by qualifying for the main draw, round of 16, of the ATP 2004 Siebel Open where they faced Jürgen Melzer and Karsten Braasch.

Giannini played with Fabiola Ramos at the 2002 Central American and Caribbean Games, winning the gold medal in mixed doubles. He also played the team competition with Henry Mujica, Ricardo Lizardo, Jonathan Pino, winning the championship of the event. He also took part of the 2004 Latin American Championship, claiming the bronze medal in the mixed doubles with Fabiola Ramos, and ranking among the 9-16th position in singles and 7th in team competition with Henry Mujica and Jonathan Pino. In the 2005 World Championships, he played the mixed doubles with Fabiola Ramos, defeating Italian Andrea Tarocco and Lao's Soulinda Sisavath 3-0 in the round of 64, 3-2 to Rachid El Boubou and Lara Kejebachian from Libia, 3-1 to Philippines's Ernesto Ebuen and Sendrina Balatbat, but fell to Hong Kong's Li Ching and Lau Sui-fei 0-4 in the main draw round of 128.
