A Terrible Revenge: The Ethnic Cleansing of the East European Germans, 1944–1950 is a 1994 non-fiction book written by Cuban-born American lawyer Alfred-Maurice de Zayas, former research fellow at MPG in Heidelberg, Germany. The work is based on a collection of testimonials from German civilians and the Third Reich military personnel; and devoted to the expulsion of Germans after World War II from states previously occupied by the Nazis. It includes as well selected interviews with British and American politicians who participated at the Potsdam Conference, including Robert Murphy, Geoffrey Harrison (drafter of article XIII of the Potsdam Protocol), and Denis Allen (drafter of article IX on the provisional post-war borders). The book attempts to describe the crimes committed against the German nation by the Soviet Union, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Yugoslavia at the end of World War II – as perceived by the expellees themselves and settlers brought in Heim ins Reich (Home into the Empire) from the east.
Vilas was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention of 1896, but withdrew after the adoption of the free-silver plank. He then became one of the chief organizers of the National Democratic Party, attended the convention at Indianapolis, and was chairman of its committee on resolutions. He was also the main drafter of the National Democratic Party's platform. Vilas, a favorite of the delegates, refused to run as the party's sacrificial lamb.
Marjorie Wintermute (1919–2007) was an American architect in Oregon. She was educated at the University of Oregon as an interior designer, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1941. Following her graduation, she worked at the Bonneville Power Administration and then for Standard Oil in San Francisco as a drafter, after which she returned to Oregon to work for Pietro Belluschi's office in Portland. He was born during the Dazhongxiangfu () era of the Song dynasty in Xianyou () county of Xinghua () prefecture, now Xianyou County in Putian of Fujian province. In the eight year of the Tiansheng () era (1030 CE) he obtained the degree of jinshi (進士, lit. "advanced scholar"), a graduate who passed the triennial court exam. His highest rank was Secretariat Drafter of the Duanming Court (Duanmingdian Xueshi), in charge of written communication of the imperial government.

Annie Ruth Jiagge, (née Baëta; 7 October 1918 – 12 June 1996), also known as Annie Baëta Jiagge, was a Ghanaian lawyer, judge and women's rights activist. The first Ghanaian woman to become a lawyer, she was also the first woman in Ghana and the Commonwealth of Nations to become a judge. She was a principal drafter of the Declaration on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women and a co-founder of the organisation that became Women's World Banking.
Toyen in 1930 Toyen with Karel Teige in 1925 Toyen, born Marie Čermínová (21 September 1902, in Prague – 9 November 1980, in Paris), was a Czech painter, drafter, and illustrator and a member of the surrealist movement. Toyen left the family home at sixteen, and it has been speculated it was due to sympathy towards anarchism. In 1923, the artist adopted the professional pseudonym Toyen. The name Toyen was derived from the French word 'citoyen,' meaning citizen.

Wils worked extensively with his father and took evening courses for construction drawing. In The Hague, he worked for Hendrik Berlage, who encouraged Wils' social engagement and introduced him to Frank Lloyd Wright’s work. In 1916, Wils established his own architectural firm in The Hague, hiring hired Piet Zwart as a drafter in 1919.

In 1929 Thompson was a drafter for Temple H. Buell, AIA, in Denver. In the 1930s she worked in Boston with a classmate from M.I.T., Archie Riskin, and registered as an architect in Massachusetts in 1943. Her registration in Oregon came ten years later, as a principal in the firm Polly Povey Thompson, Ray Kermit Thompson, Architects. Xiao was considered an associate of Zhang's, and Emperor Xianzong thus stripped Xiao of his imperial scholar status and made the deputy minister of husbandry (太僕少卿, Taipu Shaoqing). Nevertheless, many officials remained against the campaign, including Xiao and the imperial scholar Qian Hui (錢徽). In 816, Emperor Xianzong, as a warning against those speaking against the campaign, removed Qian and Xiao from their responsibilities as imperial scholar and drafter of edicts, respectively, but let them stay in their main posts but away from the emperor.
Robert "Bob" G. Lawson is a professor at the University of Kentucky College of Law, Kentucky, United States. Lawson holds the position of the principal drafter to both the Kentucky Penal Code and the Kentucky Rules of Evidence. He has also served as Dean of the College of Law from 1971 to 1973 and 1982 to 1988, and is a member of the University of Kentucky College of Law Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 1996. He is also a member of the University of Kentucky Hall of Distinguished Alumni.
Marion Parker was the first female graduate in the College of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Michigan in 1895; the university awards two female students annually to honor her (at least in the mid-1970s). After graduating she worked on skyscrapers in New York City. Parker worked for William Gray Purcell and George Fieck in their Minneapolis office becoming their first drafter in 1908 and by 1912 became an important member in the small firm. She produced working drawings for leaded glass panels and other craft items.
He previously practiced law, and was a drafter for Alexander Jackson Davis in 1845. Warren's first work of church architecture was the Church of the Annunciation on West 14th Street, which opened for services in August 1847. Construction of St. Thomas' began before the autumn of 1846, and the interior took longer than anticipated to finish. In December 1847, the church interior was still under construction, and A. J. Downing favored Warren's specifications for a newly-invented liquid wood stain that would give the beams a much older appearance.
The partnership of Howard Hirsch and Michael Bedner began when Howard hired Michael as an entry-level blueprint drafter. Becoming a color wight is the beginning of a descent into madness for the drafter. Happening gradually over time, the color wight will go under the influence of their drafting color's psychological influences; blue drafters will become hard and logical, greens will become wild, and reds will become creatures of rage. Color wights often commit their bodies to their luxin as well, coating or even replacing their body parts with sealed luxin. Color wights are considered insane and monsters, outcasts from society and are almost always hunted down.
Ullmann, however, argues that Adrian's use of the word was "harmless enough...that he conferred the Imperial crown as a favour". Duggan too describes the incident as "at best a diplomatic incident—a faux pas—which suggests carelessness on the part of the drafter". Historians have disagreed as to the degree of deliberation behind the use of the word. Peter Munz, for example, believes it to have been a deliberate provocation, engineered by an anti-Imperial faction within the curia, designed to justify Adrian's treaty with King William.
For example, the architect templates can be used to draw different sized doors with their "opening arcs", building and equipment symbols and furniture. The templates also provide the symbols for thermal insulation. Two methods of drawing smooth curves in manual drafting are the use of French curves and flat splines (flexible curves). A French curve is a drawing aid with many different smoothly-varying radiused curves on it; the manual drafter can fit the French curve to some known reference points and draw a smooth curved line between them.
On August 16, 1954, in connection with a general overhaul of the Internal Revenue Service, the IRC was greatly reorganized by the 83rd United States Congress and expanded (by Chapter 736, ). Ward M. Hussey was the principal drafter of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954. The code was published in volume 68A of the United States Statutes at Large. To prevent confusion with the 1939 Code, the new version was thereafter referred to as the "Internal Revenue Code of 1954" and the prior version as the "Internal Revenue Code of 1939".
Section 3 of the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 limits the ability of the drafter of consumer or standard form contracts to draft clauses which would allow him to exclude liability in what is termed an exclusion clause - the act does not per se render ineffective provisions in other areas which to the layman appear "unfair". The Lima Liturgy was written for the 1982 Plenary Session of the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches (WCC) in Lima, Peru. The idea was to reflect doctrinal convergences of the WCC's Baptism, Eucharist and Ministry (BEM) document, although it had been first and foremost a document on doctrine, not liturgy. Another ecumenical goal was to allow as many Christians as possible to take part in the celebration. The principal drafter of the liturgy was Max Thurian, who had also played a key role in the group that produced BEM.

According to Susan Waltz, although Santa Cruz "held no position of responsibility...his political and substantive contributions were such" that his co-drafter, John Peters Humphrey and the author Johannes Morsink later singled out the important role he played in shaping the Declaration's transition away from "eighteenth century Enlightenment philosophy" towards "socioeconomic rights." In addition to his work on the declaration, Santa Cruz was "actively involved in the establishment of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean" in 1947. ECLAC's library in Santiago is named after him.
On December 18, 1943, Davis married fellow artist and Herron alumnus, George M. Prout in Columbus, Indiana. She worked at Staley Manufacturing Company as a drafter, while continuing to work in a studio she and her husband shared in Columbus. The year following her marriage, Davis- Prout won first prize in the 37th Annual Indiana Artists Exhibition, the oldest art competition in the state, with her entry Coal for Chicago. In 1947, she went to work at Arvin Industries in the Columbus plant, remaining there for at least five years.
Bronte Clucas Quayle, CB, CBE, SPK, QC (; 24 October 1919 – 12 October 1986) was an Australian barrister, civil servant, military officer and solicitor who served the first Australian parliamentary draftsman, and was later appointed Queen’s Counsel for Canberra in 1978. He also served in the Attorney-General's Department in 1950. He drafted the 1962 Constitution of Pakistan as a consultant drafter. As a draftsman, Quayle was actively involved in regulating the inquiries about the use of computers in drafting legislative legal work, and made a comprehensive study about Commonwealth nations, specifically about Australia.
In 1570 a curate of the Tonbridge Parish Church by the name of Nicholas Hooper announced himself as a "scrivener and drafter of documents". He supplemented his ecclesiastical stipend by drafting wills and property bonds, and taking advantage of the expansion of merchant activity under the reign of Elizabeth I of England. Hooper's son John took over the practice in 1618, and the firm stayed in the family until John's descendant George Hooper died in 1759. After George Hooper's death the firm was acquired by Thomas Scoons of Tonbridge, who also controlled the Pantiles.
Félix Lorioux (1872–1964) was a French illustrator. Born in Angers, he began to study art as an apprentice (with painters on glass), then in Angers and Paris Ecole des Beaux Arts. He was employed by Citroën (French car manufacturer) as a drafter for a few years, then as an illustrator for Hachette (Fables de La Fontaine, Contes de PerraultText available on Braunschweig University's Digital Library). A friend of Walt Disney, who admired his work, he was then hired to illustrate Mickey stories for the French market, as well as The Silly Symphony.
A treatment for an "Americanized" western was written by Leone, Luca Morsella, and Fabio Toncelli. It is speculated to have been Leone's last western and was to have starred Mickey Rourke and Richard Gere as the two main leads. Set during the height of the American Civil War, the story focused on a Union drafter, Mike Kutcher from Georgia, whose job is to enroll men into the Union army. The other is Richard Burns, a Southern shady businessman transplanted to the North after a successful heist with his ex-lover and partner, Mary.
When Denikin captured Kyiv in August 1919, staunch Russian nationalist Vasilli Shulgin was given the opportunity to apply his solution to the Ukrainian question onto the rest of Ukraine. Shulgin was the principal drafter of Denikin's appeal "To the Inhabitants of Little Russia" publicised on the eve of Denikin's entrance into Kyiv. The appeal proclaimed that Russian was the language of state institutions and the educational system. This official policy formulated by Shulgin and Denikin was a major blow for the Ukrainian cultural movement after its positive treatment by the Central Rada and the Skoropadsky regime.
Lord was also the top assistant on Vietnam negotiations, in every Kissinger meeting with North Vietnam from 1970–1973. Lord was a principal drafter of both the 1972 Shanghai Communiqué, which opened relations with China, and the 1973 Paris Peace Accords, which ended the Vietnam War. Lord became the State Department's Director of Policy Planning and top policy adviser on China (1973–77), United States Ambassador to China (1985–1989) under President Reagan, and Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs (1993–1997) under President Clinton. Early in his career he served in the Foreign Service and the Defense Department.
The smaller marquisates may have had only hundreds of households. However, the larger marquisates may have more than ten-thousand households such as Marquis of Guanjun(冠軍侯) and Marquis of Changping(長平侯). A marquisate is administered by a counselor-delegate(國相 Guó Xiàng) as a magistrate(令, 長) in his district. A marquis can appoint their courtier-officers: Household Aide(家丞 Jiā Chéng), Drafter(舍人 Shè Rén), Cadet(庶子 Shù Zǐ), Grand Master of Gates(门大夫 Mén Dà Fū), Frontrider(洗马 Xiǎn Mǎ), Messenger(行人 Xíng Rén).
Aračić was born in Slavonski Brod, SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia. Coming from a sporting family, he started his footballing career as a 9-year-old at Croatian team NK Ukrina Novo Selo, before moving aged 14 to the team his father Anto played for professionally at the time, NK Polet Bosanski Brod. He later played for his local team where he was spotted by scouts of Prva HNL side NK Rijeka. Aračić, a drafter by trade, left Croatia as a result of the War of Independence, signed for Chemnitzer FC in Germany before transferring to Tennis Borussia Berlin in the summer of 1997.

Sodergren was very interested in the modern furniture being made in Scandinavia in the 1940s and 1950s, and turned away from the historical modes his father had followed. Not long after, his father's long-time concubine died. While she was alive, he had respected her greatly because of the long-term relationship between his father and her, such that his own sons also referred to her as "grandmother." After her death, he was unsure whether to observe a mourning period for her, and he requested his colleagues' advice.

He obtained his BSc in mechanical and electrical engineer from the Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now Auburn University, in 1897. After his graduation in 1897 McBryde started at the Electric Lighting Co. of Mobile, and next as designer and drafter at George F. Barber. In 1899 he served in the Spanish–American War the U.S. Lighthouse Department and U.S. Engineers Corps. As chief electrician of the U.S. Army Transport-ship the Sheridan he made the voyage from New York City over the Atlantic and Mediterranean, via the Suez Canal over the Philippines and Nagasaki, Japan, to its destination in San Francisco.
Levy was the Director of Policy and International Efforts at Heskem, the Israeli headquarters of the joint non-governmental Israeli-Palestinian Geneva Initiative. Levy led the working-level Israeli negotiating team for over two years, and was the lead Israeli drafter of the Geneva Accord. Levy served as senior policy adviser to former Israeli Minister of Justice, Yossi Beilin, from March 2000 to March 2001. In this capacity, he was responsible for coordinating policy on various aspects of the ministerial portfolio, including issues related to peace negotiations, the Palestinian minority in Israel, civil and human rights, representing the minister on governmental committees.
She started her career in 2008, working as a Court Registrar in the Commercial Court, based in Musanze and Nyarugenge, serving in that capacity until 2011. From 2011 until 2012 she worked as Legal Drafter and Advisor in the Chamber of Deputies of the bicameral Rwanda Parliament. For a period of three months, from January 2013 to 23 April 2013, she served as the Legal Officer in "Rwanda Environment Management Authority" (REMA). To most drafters, drafting isn't just a way of life, it is their life, and therefore most drafters elect to be Freed. The Freeing happens only once a year, on the holy day known as Sun Day.
The group was officially founded in Gallup, New Mexico, on August 28, 1934, where organizers drafter a preamble, elected Joseph Bruner president, and passed a resolution calling for Collier's removal. The group also had conventions in Lewiston (Idaho), San Diego, Salt Lake City, and Tulsa. The AIF testified before United States Congressional committees about alleged violations of law by the BIA. The AIF was composed of members from several other Indian organizations, including the Indian National Confederacy of Oklahoma, the Mission Indian Federation of California, the Intertribal Committee for the Fundamental Advancement of the American Indian, and the Black Hills Treaty Council.

The actual drafter of the text was Michel Debré who wrote up de Gaulle's political ideas and guided the text through the enactment process. On 1 June 1958, de Gaulle became Prime Minister and was given emergency powers for six months by the National Assembly, fulfilling his desire for parliamentary legitimacy. On 28 September 1958, a referendum took place and 82.6 percent of those who voted supported the new constitution and the creation of the Fifth Republic.
Also named Distinguished Professor was former Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Vern Clark who teaches courses in leadership and government. In 2006, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak was a visiting faculty member for the School of Undergraduate Studies. Herb Titus, founding dean of the law school, was the 1996 vice-presidential candidate of the Constitution Party and a drafter of the Constitutional Restoration Act to permit government officials to acknowledge "God as the sovereign source of law, liberty, or government". Titus was fired in 1993 for being "too extreme" on the different matter of Dominion Theology.

Gillespie, raised in a Democratic family, began his political career as intern for Andy Ireland, at the time a Democrat from Florida. In 1984, Ireland joined the Republican party with Gillespie following, saying, "I liked President Reagan's approach to governing and it just made sense to me." He worked as telephone solicitor for the Republican National Committee in 1985, and later worked for a decade as a top aide to former House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX), and was a principal drafter of the GOP's 1994 "Contract With America." In 1996 he served as communications director for the RNC.
James Madison, drafter of the Bill of Rights The First Amendment which ratified in 1791 states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." However, the phrase "separation of church and state" itself does not appear in the United States Constitution. The states themselves were free to establish an official religion, and twelve out of the thirteen had official religions. The phrase of Jefferson (see above) was quoted by the United States Supreme Court first in 1878, and then in a series of cases starting in 1947.
Furman joined the faculty of the university as a research assistant in the Climatology Department in 1968 and worked there until her termination for political activism in 1974 after the 1973 Uruguayan coup d'état. Though inactive in leftist groups since her university days, Furman was considered a leftist because of her previous involvement. She and her husband, who worked as a drafter in a furniture company, opened a small decorating boutique filled with craft items. At the end of October, she and her husband were arrested in the middle of the night, though her children were allowed to leave with her mother.

Dicenta is the standing person to the right. During his mandate as municipal councillor, Dicenta was the drafter of the so-called "Proyecto Dicenta", a plan for the construction of schools in Madrid, described as the most ambitious in the scope of education policy in the first third of the 20th century in the municipality. The project was presented by Dicenta, Facundo Dorado and Ricardo Rodríguez Vilariño on 20 October 1911.
Any warrantor warranting a consumer product to a consumer by means of a written warranty must disclose, fully and conspicuously, in simple and readily understood language, the terms and conditions of the warranty to the extent required by rules of the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC has enacted regulations governing the disclosure of written consumer product warranty terms and conditions on consumer products actually costing the consumer more than $5. The Rules can be found at 16 C.F.R. Part 700. Under the terms of the Act, ambiguous statements in a warranty are construed against the drafter of the warranty.
In 1943, when the WPA project ended, Kauffman resigned her teaching post at Valparaiso University and took a position as an aircraft engineering drafter in a war plant. When the war ended, she returned to teaching, taking a position at Rockford College as the chair of the art department, while still teaching at the Art Institute of Chicago. Thomas Jefferson Memorial Park is named in honor of the drafter of the Declaration of Independence and third president of the United States Thomas Jefferson. The park was long referred to as simply Jefferson Park until the park received the memorial park designation in 1999 to distinguish it from a second park of the same name. This Jefferson Park was the creation of the Jefferson Park District, one of 22 park commissions consolidated into the Chicago Park District in 1934. The Jefferson Park District was established in 1920 to provide neighborhood parks for the rapidly developing northwest side of Chicago.
The Attorney-General's Department also managed litigation on behalf of the government. Initially the department contracted private law firms to actually conduct the litigation, but in 1903 the office of the Commonwealth Crown Solicitor was established, with Charles Powers the first to hold the job. The other Crown Solicitors that Garran worked with were Gordon Castle (with whom he had also worked as a drafter) and William Sharwood. In 1912, Garran was considered as a possible appointee to the High Court, following the expansion of the bench from five seats to seven and the death of Richard O'Connor.

In 1985 Volf became a member of the Pentecostal side of the official Roman Catholic and Pentecostal dialogue. The theme of the dialogue for the five years that followed was communio, and, together with Peter Kuzmič, Volf wrote the first position paper. In the final year of the dialogue (1989), along with Hervé Legrand, then a professor at the Institut Catholique in Paris, on the Catholic side, he was the main drafter of the final document ("Perspectives on Koinonia"). This intense ecumenical engagement led Volf to explore the relation between the church as a community and the Trinity, and this topic became the subject of his Habilitationschrift.

The Williamsburg Charter is a document that was drafted in 1986 by several Americans, each a member of a prominent religious community and/or non- religious philosophy in the United States. The Charter was signed by 100 nationally prominent figures on June 22, 1988, in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Virginia's call for a Bill of Rights. Among the signers were Presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter; the late Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court William Rehnquist; the late activist Coretta Scott King (wife of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.) and Focus on the Family founder James Dobson. The lead drafter was Os Guinness.
Martin Scheinin (born 4 November 1954) is an international law scholar who served as the first United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights and counter-terrorism in 2005–2011. He was selected for this position after serving for eight years (1997–2004) as member of the United Nations Human Rights Committee, the independent expert body monitoring states' compliance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. While on the Committee, he was known as a defendant of the rights of minorities and indigenous peoples and opponent of capital punishment, as well as the drafter of the Committee's General Comment No. 29 on states of emergency.Signatories to the Yogyakarta Principles, p.
Iraqi diplomat Feisal al-Istrabadi, lead drafter of the 2004 Transitional Administrative Law, praised the law as correcting the overreach of Paul Bremer's original De- Ba'athification decrees, which "captured a large number of people who were innocent of any wrongdoing by any objective measure and were deprived of the ability to earn a living and support their families," thereby feeding the insurgency. Furthermore, though the majority of Ba'ath members were Shia, it was the Sunnis who were disproportionately removed from offices, to the extent that the latter called it "de-Sunnification". Whether the new was a positive step toward reconciliation, depended on how the law would be applied.
Canadian John Peters Humphrey, the newly appointed Director of the Division of Human Rights within the United Nations Secretariat, was called upon by the UN Secretary-General to work on the project, becoming the Declaration's principal drafter. Other prominent members of the Drafting Committee included René Cassin of France; Committee Rapporteur Charles Malik of Lebanon, and Vice- Chairman P.C. Chang of the Republic of China.The Declaration was drafted during the Chinese Civil War. P.C. Chang was appointed as a representative by the Republic of China, then the recognised government of China, but which was driven from mainland China and now administers only Taiwan and nearby islands (history.com).
In December 2009, she served on the English Language Arts Work Team for the Common Core State Standards Initiative; in 2010 she was project writer and curriculum drafter for the Common Core Curriculum Mapping Project. In addition, she contributed to the Thomas B. Fordham Institute's report The State of State Standards—and the Common Core—in 2010. From 2005 to 2009, and from 2011 onward, Senechal has taught and served as curriculum adviser in New York City public schools. Jacobson was a socialist who became involved in political causes, protesting at the White House against the planned execution of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. Her friend, painter Janet Marren, had "fallen in love" with San Cristóbal upon her arrival there and invited Jacobson to visit. Jacobson had been working as a mechanical drafter in New York City and had visited Mexico several times before, but a planned 10-day trip to Mexico in September 1956, to follow up on Marren's invitation — taken in the wake of the difficulties she experienced as a Communist supporter and lesbian at the height of McCarthyism — ended up with her settling in Chiapas with Marren, her companion and partner.Weber, Bruce.
In 889, by which time Emperor Zhaozong (whose father Emperor Yizong was a cousin to Emperor Wuzong) was emperor, Cui Yuan passed the imperial examinations in the Jinshi class. Early in Emperor Zhaozong's Dashun era (890-891), Cui, while carrying the relatively low title of Yuanwailang (員外郎), became a drafter of imperial edicts. He was then made an imperial scholar (翰林學士, Hanlin Xueshi) as well as Zhongshu Sheren (中書舍人), a mid-level official at the legislative bureau of government (中書省, Zhongshu Sheng). In 896, he was made the deputy minister of census (戶部侍郎, Hubu Shilang) and was created the Baron of Boling.
Howard Schomer (June 9, 1915 – June 28, 2001) was a United Nations Commission on Human Rights aide, Civil Rights activist, scholar, drafter of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and editor-at-large for Christian Century. He received a B.S. from Harvard College in 1937; a D.D. from the Chicago Theological Seminary in 1954, and was ordained as a minister in the United Church of Christ in 1941. He was assigned to Civilian Public Service for refusing his ministerial exemption from the draft in World War II as a conscientious objector. Schomer was a close associate of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and remained a Civil Rights activist for his entire life.
The novel "The Broken Eye" begins with a sea demon attack on the Chromeria, which a black sperm whale defends and rescues the city from at the last moment. Sperm whales had not been seen since the closing of the Everdark Gates. This event appears to be allegorical in nature, albeit with the moral obscured. Karris Guile (née White Oak) returns to the Chromeria with the rest of the Blackguard from Ru, whereupon the White strips her of her position for marrying the Prism and insists that Karris can no longer draft since she is close to breaking her halo (when a drafter uses too much magic, the luxin residue breaks through their irises, and they become a Wight).

In the 1980s, his direct involvement and assisting the government on shaping the nuclear policy resulting in declaring the official adoption of nuclear ambiguity on Pakistan's nuclear deterrence programme. About the nuclear weapons quantity, Sattar notably quoted to media that the "minimum cannot be defined in static numbers" and the "size of Pakistan's arsenals and deployment patterns have to be adjusted to ward off dangers of the preemptive and inception." In 1995, Sattar maintained that India and Pakistan's "attainment of nuclear weapons had promoted stability and prevented dangers of war despite the crises that has risen time and time...".
On this occasion she participated in an informal discussion with First Lady Hillary Clinton along with a few select personalities from around the world. She was also the Italian representative at all G-8 meetings of the Lyon GroupG8 Against Transnational Organized Crime, A. Scherrer, 2009, Ashgate Press. concerning transnational organized crime, in particular the sub-group on Smuggling of Migrants and Trafficking in Persons, 1999-2000, and a member of the Italian delegation to the Committee on the elaboration of the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), 1997-1999. She was the main drafter of the first Italian Report submitted to the CEDAW Committee in 1999.
Yi Jeong-am passed the licentiate examination in the fall of 1558 and passed the regular literary examination in 1561 as one of the third-tier passers. Starting his career with the Third Copyist of Diplomatic Documents Bureau (승문원부정자), he served in various internal affairs and assistant section chiefs of several ministries. The following year, he served as an auditor of Jeolla Province (전라도도사), and then returned to the court to serve as assistant section chief of Ministry of Justice (형조좌랑). In 1569, he moved to Gyeonggi Provincial Government and became a drafter of the Chunchugwan (춘추관기주관). The following year, he was reappointed to the assistant section chief of Ministry of Justice to serve as a King’s Editor (지제교).
Map of the revolutionary districts in Vasil Levski's Internal Revolutionary Organisation From late August 1869 to May the following year, Levski was active in the Romanian capital Bucharest. He was in contact with revolutionary writer and journalist Lyuben Karavelov, whose participation in the foundation of the Bulgarian Literary Society Levski approved in writing. Karavelov's publications gathered a number of followers and initiated the foundation of the Bulgarian Revolutionary Central Committee (BRCC), a centralised revolutionary diasporic organisation that included Levski as a founding member and statute drafter. In disagreement over planning, Levski departed from Bucharest in the spring of 1870 and began to put into action his concept of an internal revolutionary network.
His first permanent assignment was in 1970 with the newly formed Directorate of Estimates (DE). During a succession of progressively responsible assignments in DE, Nagy focused on Soviet strategic nuclear and space forces and on policy and doctrinal issues; he was the principal drafter of numerous departmental and national estimates. His service with DE culminated in being selected twice by the Director of Central Intelligence’s National Intelligence Officer for Strategic Programs as manager of the annual National Intelligence Estimate for Soviet Strategic Nuclear Forces. In late 1980, Nagy became a DIA executive and was selected to be the first deputy vice director for overall management of program development for estimative, basic, and scientific and technical intelligence production.
The Iraqi Civil Code was principally drafted by Abd El-Razzak El-Sanhuri, a French-educated Egyptian jurist who was also the principal drafter of the Egyptian Civil Code. In 1943, almost a decade after the push for a comprehensive modern code began in Iraq, Al- Sanhūrī was invited to Iraq by the Iraqi government and asked to complete the Civil Code. Working as the chairman of a committee of Iraqi jurists, using the Egyptian Civil Code as a model, he completed a draft of what would become the modern Iraqi Civil Code. The Iraqi Civil Code was enacted on September 8, 1951 and became effective two years later on September 8, 1953.
David Thomas affixed his signature to the Texas Declaration of Independence alongside that of Sam Houston, each from Refugio on March 2, 1836. His writings in the Texas State Archives as Secretary of War reveal, by the degree of shakiness of handwriting, the relative proximity to the Texans of Santa Anna's troops heading toward San Jacinto. On 3 March 1836, David Thomas was amongst those appointed to the Constitutional Committee for the nascent Republic of Texas and is thought to have been a principal drafter of the Constitution of the Republic of Texas: on the committee were, inter alia, David Thomas and Sam Houston of Refugio, Texas, and Robert Hamilton of Red River and James Collinsworth of Brazoria.
The present-day power of the office flows primarily from formal and informal delegations of authority from the president and Congress. These delegations can vary in significance; for example, the vice president is a statutory member of both the National Security Council and the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution. The extent of the roles and functions of the vice president depend on the specific relationship between the president and the vice president, but often include tasks such as drafter and spokesperson for the administration's policies, adviser to the president, and being a symbol of American concern or support. The influence of the vice president in these roles depends almost entirely on the characteristics of the particular administration.
The revised 2019 Bill was criticized by Justice B. N. Srikrishna, the drafter of the original Bill, as having the ability to turn India into an “Orwellian State". In an interview with Economic Times, Srikrishna said that, "The government can at any time access private data or government agency data on grounds of sovereignty or public order. This has dangerous implications.” This view is shared by a think tank in their comment number 3. Apar Gupta of Internet Freedom Foundation notes that "Privacy is mentioned just once in this voluminous document — 49 mentions of ‘security’ and 56 mentions of 'technology'" implying that the Bill doesn't do enough to protect an individual's privacy.
Since 2015 was the 125th birth anniversary year of B. R. Ambedkar (14 April 1891 – 6 December 1956), who is known as the drafter of the Indian constitution, the government decided in May 2015 to celebrate this year "in a big way". A special committee chaired by Prime Minister of India was announced for year-long celebrations. Various programmes will be held by various ministries and departments throughout the year to spread thoughts and ideas of Ambedkar. As part of the celebrations while laying foundation stone for an Ambedkar memorial at the Indu Mills compounds in Mumbai in October 2015, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi announced that 26 November will be celebrated as "Constitution Day".
Broome was elected as the Society's first honorary secretary. Due to Martin's profile as a politician and as the drafter of the anti-cruelty legislation, a public perception developed that he was the initiator and creator of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.Fairholme and Pain, A Century of Work For Animals, p 49 At the Society's first anniversary meeting Martin set the public record straight and gave credit to Rev Broome by stating: "I have nothing at all to do with it," he said "it is quite a child of Mr Broome's and he has acted the part of a good father to it.""The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals," London Courier, 1 July 1825, p 4.
In 1845, he advocated the claim of the bishops, as of all other citizens, to the right of petition. In his pamphlet, L'État théologien, he wrote that the attacks on the Jesuits were attempts to destroy liberty of association, and the Jesuits empowered him to treat with Guizot in their name at the time of the negotiations between France and the Holy See in regard to the dispersion of the Society. As drafter of the Law of 1850 on Liberty of Teaching, he vainly endeavoured to prevent the return of the bill to the Council of State, 7 November 1849, and in the decisive debate (14 January to 15 March 1850) he seconded the efforts of Montalembert, Parieu, and Thiers which resulted in victory for the Catholics.
The CCJO's first President was René Cassin, a principal drafter of the UN Declaration of Human Rights, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1968 in recognition of his work for human rights as a jurist, academic and statesman. The CCJO has been an active supporter of efforts to increase the effectiveness of the UN's human rights treaties and institutional mechanisms in the intervening decades. From the 1940s to the 1970s it was involved in the creation of the United Nations human rights instruments, which form the basis of the UN's human rights activities today. CCJO René Cassin recently negotiated the first-ever reference to group / collective rights in a United Nations Instrument (the Basic Principles on Rights to Victims).
After leaving the White House, Eddy served as Chief of Staff to US Ambassador Richard Holbrooke while Holbrooke served as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations. While working for Holbrooke, Eddy was the principal drafter and U.S. negotiator for the historic UNSC resolution 1308 which was the first UN Security Council resolution to address the impact of HIV/AIDS worldwide, and the first UNSC resolution of the Millennium. Eddy left the US government and worked as a United Nations diplomat through 2001, moving on to successive positions as a Senior Policy Officer to United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Eddy is credited as being one of the principal architects behind the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
A bilateral NDA (sometimes referred to as a mutual NDA or a two-way NDA) involves two parties where both parties anticipate disclosing information to one another that each intends to protect from further disclosure. This type of NDA is common when businesses are considering some kind of joint venture or merger. When presented with a unilateral NDA, some parties may insist upon a bilateral NDA, even though they anticipate that only one of the parties will disclose information under the NDA. This approach is intended to incentivize the drafter to make the provisions in the NDA more "fair and balanced" by introducing the possibility that a receiving party could later become a disclosing party or vice versa, which is not an entirely uncommon occurrence.
Luis Carrero Blanco (4 March 1904 - 20 December 1973) was a Spanish Navy officer and politician, who served as Prime Minister from June 1973 until his assassination in December of that year. He participated in the Rif War, and later the Spanish Civil War, in which he supported the Nationalist faction. Carrero Blanco, a long-time confidant and right-hand man of Francisco Franco, was one of the most prominent figures in the Francoist dictatorship's power structure, holding throughout his career a number of high-ranking offices such as those of Undersecretary of the Presidency from 1941 to 1967 and Franco's deputy from 1967 to 1973. He also was the main drafter behind the 1947 Law of Succession to the Headship of the State.
Although the court granted the request to compel arbitration, it allowed the arbitrator to conduct the arbitration on a classwide basis rather than on an individual basis. Lamps Plus appealed the decision to the Ninth Circuit, which held that given the ambiguous language of the arbitration provision regarding availability of class arbitration procedures and that California law allowed courts to construe ambiguity against the drafter, the court could compel class arbitration based on Plaintiff’s interpretation of the provision. According to the Ninth Circuit majority, Stolt-Nielsen was not controlling in this case because ‘silence’ on the issue of class arbitration meant that the parties in that case had not agreed to class arbitration procedures rather than just failed to include explicit reference in the provision.
Lamps Plus, 139 S.Ct. at 1416. Thus, the majority concluded, agreement to such procedures could not be inferred from an ambiguous provision. The Court also rejected the application of the contra proferentem doctrine, which states that ambiguity in a contract provision is to be construed against the drafter, to support the use of class arbitration provisions. It found that application of contra proferentem would be inconsistent with the FAA because it does not attempt to resolve what the intent of the parties actually was. This reasoning highlighted the Court’s commitment to the policy favoring enforcement of arbitration agreements, codified in the FAA, in spite of the fact that as Justice Kagan argued in dissent, contra proferentem is a neutral state contract interpretation ruleSee Bookman, at 1159-60.
James Madison, drafter of the Bill of Rights In the 1st United States Congress, following the state legislatures' request, James Madison proposed twenty constitutional amendments based on state bills of rights and English sources such as the Bill of Rights 1689.Labunski, p. 192 Among them was an amendment protecting findings of fact in civil cases exceeding a certain dollar value from judicial review. Madison proposed that this amendment should be added directly to Article III, though Congress later determined to add the proposed Bill of Rights to the end of the Constitution, leaving the original text intact. Congress also reduced Madison's proposed twenty amendments to twelve, and these were proposed to the states for ratification on September 25, 1789.
Zara Cisco Brough (1919–1988), often spelled as Zara Ciscoe Brough, commonly referred to as Princess White Flower, served as the Chief of the Nipmuc Native Indian Tribe for 25 years from 1962 until 1987. She is best known for her work to preserve Nipmuc heritage, especially her letter of intention to petition for federal recognition of the Nipmuc as a legally distinct Native American people, which resulted in the Nipmuc being placed on "active consideration" for the status of Federally recognized tribe by 11 July 1995. During her lifetime she worked as an electronics engineer, fashion designer, drafter, technical writer, and supervisor of government projects. She held the post of "State commissioner for Indian Affairs" from 1974 to 1984.
Again, by providing a seemingly nontrivial mechanical environment, even though it was just an exhausted combination, the claims drafter might have avoided the holding of nonstatutory subject matter (patent-ineligibility). It is thus possible that careful claims drafting techniques will succeed in elevating form over substance, to avoid the impact of the machine-or-transformation test. The subsequent unanimous Supreme Court decisions in the Mayo and Alice cases, by reaffirming the doctrine of the Flook case, cast doubt on the likelihood of success of the drafting techniques described above. That doctrine is that a claim to the implementation of a principle that is patent ineligible in itself must be inventive rather than routine and conventional, in order to make that claim patent eligible.
The effort was led by the Radical Republicans of both houses of Congress, including John Bingham, Charles Sumner, and Thaddeus Stevens. It was the most influential of these men, John Bingham, who was the principal author and drafter of the Equal Protection Clause. The Southern states were opposed to the Civil Rights Act, but in 1865 Congress, exercising its power under Article I, Section 5, Clause 1 of the Constitution, to "be the Judge of the ... It was this fact—the fact that the Fourteenth Amendment was enacted by a "rump" Congress—that permitted the passage of the Fourteenth Amendment by Congress and subsequently proposed to the states.

By analysing the style of the surviving extracts of the Iuris epitomae Tony Honoré has identified Hermogenian also as the drafter of the emperor Diocletian's rescripts (replies to petitions) from the beginning of AD 293 to the end of 294, a task that would have been the job of the emperor's (procurator) a libellis or magister libellorum (master of petitions).
The Joinery no longer stands, but the foundation and the chimney are still there. In 2012, Slavery at Jefferson’s Monticello: Paradox of Liberty, an exhibition co-presented by the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the Thomas Jefferson Foundation at Monticello, opened in the NMAAHC Gallery at the National Museum of American History. This exhibition highlighted Jefferson's paradoxical dual positions as the drafter of the Declaration of Independence and a slaveholder. Some of the objects on display were the "Campeachy" (campeche) chair Hemmings created for Jefferson, a copy of the French chairs at Monticello attributed to the joinery, and a hanging cabinet Hemmings created. The entrance to Slavery at Jefferson’s Monticello: Paradox of Liberty featured a large statue of Jefferson standing in front of stacks of bricks.
In Australia, it had generally been assumed that Edmund Barton, a key leader of the Federation movement and drafter of the Constitution, would be offered the post in the first instance. The decision was defensible in terms of protocol, but it ignored the fact that Lyne had long strongly opposed federation until the passage of the referenda of 1899, and was unpopular with the leading federalist politicians. Explanations for the appointment generally revolve around the precedent established by Canada, whereby the Premier of the senior colony, John A. Macdonald of Ontario, had formed the first federal Canadian government. Also, Barton was not a member of any parliament (he had resigned from the NSW Parliament earlier that year), and, although he had considerable political experience, he was considered in some quarters to be politically inept.
In 1996, President Bill Clinton appointed McClintock as an at-large member of the Democratic Platform Committee, where he was a drafter of the platform plank on Puerto Rico. In the 1990s he fought for Puerto Rico's inclusion in the proposed World War II Memorial on the National Mall after only two territories (Hawaii and Alaska) had been included in the first memorial design and all other U.S. territories (Philippines, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa and the United States Virgin Islands), several of which were actually invaded by Japan, had been excluded. His efforts included the approval of a Concurrent Resolution by the legislature and lobbying in Washington. During 1999, he served as the 62nd Chairman of the Council of State Governments, the youngest and first Hispanic in that organization's 75-year history.
Front page by José de Almada Negreiros, 1922 Contemporânea (Portuguese for "Contemporary") was a Portuguese review published in Lisbon from 1922 until 1926. It was headed by and had saved the graphic heading, it brought a literary direction secured for the main drafter Oliveira Mouta, which presented in 1915, attracted a number specimen, but only became viable ina part of May 1922 due to the support of the industrialist and collector Agostinho Fernandes (1886-1972), which later became the review's editor. The project had as the target of the tlites In Contemporânea crystallized the modernism in the 1920s and you taste something mundane, its political tendency of the right. Its publications toatlled three numbers and the review turned it into a point of support by many "new" artistrs, which reprinted profusely.
Furthermore, even though the Statute was promulgated, it cost De la Rosa's premiership and hence Parcent had to defend an institution which no longer counted with its creator. As the Progressive Party (the exalted liberals) took power in 1837 and drafter a constitution which was based on the 1812 Constitution, Parcent became a member of the Senate, the upper chamber which succeeded the Estamento of Próceres. He became acquainted with the Moderates, although he was never part of the archconservative sectors of the party. Parcent was named in 1836 high steward of the Infante Francisco de Paula, Ferdinand VII's younger brother, who was close with the Liberal ideals, and he later entered the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Saint Ferdinand, one of the enlightened institutions which promoted Liberal values.
Prior to his service with the Congress, Lilly served as director of campaign services for the Democratic National Committee, central states coordinator in the McGovern Presidential Campaign, as a bill drafter for the Missouri legislature and two years in the U.S. Army. Following the McGovern campaign Lilly became a legislative assistant for Congressman Dave Obey of Wisconsin where he became Chief of Staff and Clerk for the House Appropriations Committee during Congressman David Obey's Chairmanship. During his 31 years on Capitol Hill Lilly held positions as Executive Director of the Joint Economic Committee and executive director of the House Democratic Study Group. Following his retirement from The United States Congress, Lilly became a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy and the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs.
In 794, Quan became Imperial Archivist (起居舍人, Qiju Sheren), and was soon also put in charge of drafting edicts. Whilst serving in that capacity, he received several successive promotions in title — to Jiabu Yuanwailang (), a low-level official at the Ministry of Rites; Sixun Langzhong (), a supervisorial official at the Ministry of Personnel () and Zhongshu Sheren (), a mid-level official at the Imperial Secretariat (中書省, Zhongshu Sheng). When Quan started serving as the drafter of edicts, he shared the responsibilities with Xu Dai () and Gao Ying, but as Xu and Gao were later transferred to other responsibilities, Quan ended up with sole responsibility for drafting edicts. He once pointed out that doing so was inappropriate — as the emperor needed to have multiple staff in charge of the task to avoid having a single person abuse power.
Contra proferentem (Latin: "against [the] offeror"), also known as "interpretation against the draftsman", is a doctrine of contractual interpretation providing that, where a promise, agreement or term is ambiguous, the preferred meaning should be the one that works against the interests of the party who provided the wording. The doctrine is often applied to situations involving standardized contracts or where the parties are of unequal bargaining power, but is applicable to other cases. The doctrine is not, however, directly applicable to situations where the language at issue is mandated by law, as is often the case with insurance contracts and bills of lading. The reasoning behind this rule is to encourage the drafter of a contract to be as clear and explicit as possible and to take into account as many foreseeable situations as it can.
Prior to this EU deal there was concern that Eurozone members may discuss matters of the EU and single market separate to the wider membership and therefore come up with a deal they could theoretically impose on non-Eurozone countries.
