Compared with countries with higher teenage birth rates, the Dutch have a higher average age at first intercourse and increased levels of contraceptive use (including the "double Dutch" method of using both a hormonal contraception method and a condom).

Johan van der Meulen (11 January 1915, Breda - 13 September 2005, Breda), better known by his pseudonym John O'Mill (a jocular translation of his given name, as if O' stands for "of the"), was a Dutch author mostly known for his wordplay and limericks, and for using a macaronic combination of Dutch and English words and sentence structures he called "Double Dutch" (itself a pun on various meanings of this phrase). Double Dutch appears English, but it cannot be fully understood without knowledge of Dutch, because it is based on the literal translation of Dutch idioms into English and the similarity in sound of certain words and expressions. O'Mill, who was until 1975 a teacher of English at the public high school "Rijks-HBS" at Breda (Noord-Brabant), was inspired by the clumsy English used by his students.

In 1982, their manager Ruza "Kool Lady" Blue organized the New York City Rap Tour, which featured Rock Steady Crew, Afrika Bambaataa, Cold Crush Brothers, the Double Dutch Girls, and Fab 5 Freddy.Chang 2005, pp. 182–183. This tour traveled to England and France, which spread hip-hop culture to those countries. In 1983, they performed for Queen Elizabeth II at the Royal Variety Performance.

They often trained together and became good friends. Dekkers and Kaman were dubbed by fight fans in Thailand as "The Double Dutch duo". In his first fight at 16 years of age, Dekkers won in a spectacular knockout against a well-established older boxer. Although, only weighing about 55 kg, his opponents found out sooner rather than later he was much stronger than he looked.

Between 1981 and 1985, Ahearn, together with Torres, created four sculptural murals for the sides of tenement buildings — We Are Family, Life on Dawson Street, Double Dutch, and Back to School — depicting everyday life in the neighborhood. His 1991 survey of portraits of ordinary people was called South Bronx Hall of Fame. In 2017, his recent casts were installed on walls on Lower East Side.

In conjunction, Nelly approaches a pop-rap singalong vocal style, which Allmusic's Jason Birchmeier notes present within Country Grammar tracks including "Ride wit Me" and "E.I.". Peter Shapiro described Nelly's vocals as using "unforgettable hooks based on schoolyard songs, double-dutch chants, and nonsense rhymes".

In 2007 Kyra Gaunt published The Games Black Girls Play: Learning the Ropes from Double-Dutch to Hip-Hop. Her book was awarded the Alan Merriam prize presented by the society for Ethnomusicology. It was also nominated as a pen/beyond margins book award finalist. It inspired a work by fellow TED Fellow Camille A. Brown, BLACK GIRL: Linguistic Play, which was nominated for a 2016 Bessie Award for Outstanding Production.

The music video premiered on Disney Channel on February 18, 2008. The music video shows Raven and a bunch of people dancing under a disco ball and having a great time on a party bus (known as the "double dutch bus"). The music video also features images from the film College Road Trip. Donny Osmond makes a cameo appearance in the video, being a cast member of the movie.

A small wooden porch frames the entrance, a wooden paneled door with transom and sidelights. It opens into a large central hall leading to equally sized rooms on either side. Most of the mantelpieces are in the Federal style but one, in the northwest parlor, is Greek Revival in style. In 2014, Branson and Virgin StartUp launched the "Foodpreneur" food and drink focused start-up competition. Winners received mentorship from Branson, legal support, and brand counseling. The 2014 winners included Proper Beans, Killer Tomato, Sweetpea Pantry, and Sweet Virtues. In 2015, winners were given the opportunity to pitch Target Corporation buyers in the US. The 2015 winners included Pip & Nut, Double Dutch Drinks, Harry Bromptons, Cauli Rice, and Mallow and Marsh.

Tutnese or Double Dutch is a language game primarily used in English, although the rules can be easily modified to apply to almost any language. Tutnese is usually used by children, who use it to converse in privacy from adults; by members of historically marginalized minority groups for the same reason when in the presence of authority figures such as police ("pupolulisus" or "pizolizice"); or simply for amusement and humor.

The Centralia Community Youth Center provides after-school tutoring services, sports clubs including wrestling, chess, dance, Double Dutch jump roping, basketball, and karate. Their mission is “to help our community's youth from falling into the traps of today's society: crime, drugs, and gang activity. We do this through positive reinforcement and programs in the most grassroots style of community activism.” They also hosts concerts, camps, and community dinners.

The theme song of the movie was "Double Dutch Bus", sung by Raven-Symoné. The music video for the song appeared on Disney Channel and was included in her self-titled album. The music video included scenes from the movie.

4 Minute Mile is a 2014 drama film directed by Charles-Olivier Michaud, written by Josh Campbell and Jeff Van Wie, and starring Richard Jenkins, Kelly Blatz, Analeigh Tipton, Kim Basinger, and Cam Gigandet. It is distributed by Gravitas Ventures, and the international sales rights are held by Double Dutch International. The film premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) on June 5, 2014. Gravitas planned for a theatrical release on August 1, 2014.

Some of the featured events at 2011 were the VirtuSphere and Laser Tag, lecture by the likes of Harold Kroto and Richard Stallman, exhibition of Science and inventions of Leonardo da Vinci and PR2, energy-saving competition among all Indian Institutes of Technology . Technoholix saw world's best Double Dutch (jump rope) crew. Techfest 2011-2012 took a unique initiative Ummeed-e-Milaap to step towards a peaceful future between India and Pakistan.

Cooper started as a female vocalist for the Fatback Band. Her first song with them was Double Dutch and the last one was Wild Sugar,Wild Sugar. After she left she was replaced by Linda Blakely, who had been a lead female vocalist and member of disco/R&B; band Change (1981–1985) with whom she had several hits. In 1991 Cooper featured as guest vocalist on Clivillés and Cole's hit single A Deeper Love.

He went to college in Tennessee for elementary education with a minor in music. He became a writer for funk and soul artists such as the O'Jays and The Spinners. In 1972 he would record for Paramount, releasing a single called "Double Dutch" under the name Franklin Franklin, but the record failed to become a hit. He was also influential in the careers of the rappers Tone Loc, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg.

The next section, inspired by the style and culture of early 1980s New York, began with Madonna skipping on stage for "Into the Groove". This performance was a mashup with "Toop Toop" by Cassius and featured the artwork of friend Keith Haring. She then performed a double Dutch dance interlude which led to "Heartbeat". During that song, Madonna's dance movements were controlled by her back-up dancers as if they were puppeteers.

In the last 30 years jump roping has moved off the sidewalks and onto the stage. It now features astounding acrobatics, lightning speed and international competition. Doubletime follows the top two American teams: The Bouncing Bulldogs of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and The Double Dutch Forces of Columbia, South Carolina. Although they train in neighboring states, the Bulldogs and the Forces scarcely cross paths as they belong to separate leagues that do not compete against one another.

The Second EP is the first album released by Baton Rouge, Louisiana based indie pop group The Eames Era. The title "The Second EP" refers to the demo EP the band recorded in early 2003 before signing with the C Student Records label. The album's lead track, "Could Be Anything", was featured on the soundtrack for American medical drama Grey's Anatomy and on Canadian teen drama Falcon Beach. This also coincided with the release of the band's debut full-length album Double Dutch.

Fluent In Stroll is the fifth studio album by the Boston ska punk band Big D and the Kids Table, released on July 7, 2009 by Side One Dummy Records. It was produced by Joe Gittleman of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and features backing vocals by Sirae Richardson, Hayley Jane, and Nicole and Simone Olivia, who perform as the Doped Up Dollies. Its title refers to the band's new musical direction dubbed "stroll", a mix of double-Dutch, ska, reggae, and soul.

It began with Madonna appearing on the stage in shorts and T-shirt, while skipping to a DJ station. She started singing the song while cartoon characters from late artist, and Madonna's friend, Keith Haring dance on the backdrops. Near the end of the song, Madonna performed a Double Dutch dance interlude. In 2015, "Into the Groove" was included in the set list of the Rebel Heart Tour, performed in a flamenco-style medley with "Dress You Up", "Everybody" and "Lucky Star".

CBS launched the single,"Double Dutch Bus" by Frankie Smith. He also had a distribution agreement with Capitol records for Chalice, where he worked with artists including, Steven FromholzSteven Fromholz interview by Folk Villager (May 13, 2014) (from the redneck rock world in Austin, TX). The book, entitled "The Improbable Rise of Redneck Rock", first published in 1974, includes Chackler’s (Chalice Record’s) influence. Chackler soon joined forces with Joe Isgro, and was named president of the CBS Label, Private I, a record company distributed through Epic Records.

A sympathetic hyphen connects it to a modern wood frame addition on the south. On the east elevation, the house's original front facade, is a centrally located main entrance flanked by two windows on either side, echoed in the dormer fenestration above. Centro de Arte Contemporânea Inhotim, Brumadinho, Brazil Torres is known in part for the sculptures in plaster and fiberglass that he created of his neighbors in the Bronx, together with his partner John Ahearn. Between the years 1981 and 1985, they collaborated on four murals. These were We Are Family, Life on Dawson Street, Double Dutch, and Back to School.Kwon, page 89 The sculptures, like much of Torres' work, were displayed in public attached to buildings, free standing and in street events as an element of performance art.

Xiao Chunli is a Chinese teacher at Blue Sky Secondary School, neighbourhood school notorious for its rock- bottom results and delinquency. Her efforts to help her students are hampered by Mr Yan, the school principal who cares more about KPIs than the students themselves. One of the teachers Xu Dele is a master with the skipping rope and he begins recruiting students to participate in a double Dutch competition. Much to Miss Xiao and Mr Xu's frustration, several of the more problematic students or those rejected by other CCAs are "dumped" into the team.

Public Art Fund's program for emerging artists, In the Public Realm, commissioned Simmons to produce a three-week project in June 2008, using the streets of the Bronx as a space for sidewalk games, classic photographic portraiture, and performance art. Passersby were encouraged to participate in various activities including hopscotch, soapbox speaking, chess, and Double Dutch. Simmons provided props and background elements, against which all of the publics' spontaneous activities were recorded. Color portraits were sent directly back to participants, as a way of completing the process of active, creative participation.

Schnitger was born in Rotterdam,and received his military education at the Military Academy in Breda. He continued his training at Sheppard Air Force Base and received his wing in March 1984. Back home in the Netherlands he was appointed pilot at the 314 squadron at Eindhoven Airport. In 1988 he was the team lead of 'Double Dutch' the NF-5 demoteam of the Royal Netherlands Air Force at that time. In 1990 he was trained for the F-16 and assigned to the 312 squadron at Volkel Air Base.

Spark (known as Spark: A Space Tail in the United States), is a 2016 3D computer-animated science fiction adventure comedy film written and directed by Aaron Woodley, and featuring the voices of Jessica Biel, Hilary Swank, Susan Sarandon, Patrick Stewart, Jace Norman and Alan C. Peterson. The film premiered on April 22, 2016, at the Toronto Animation Arts Festival International. It was released on April 14, 2017 in the United States by Open Road Films with distribution sold by Double Dutch International in all international markets except China and South Korea.

Haike Eva van Stralen (born April 22, 1983) is a Dutch former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. She is a two-time Olympian (2000 and 2004), and double Dutch short-course champion in the 200 and 400 m freestyle. Van Stralen also played for De Kempvis Swimming Club in Spijkenisse, under her personal coach Dick Bergsma. Van Stralen made her first Dutch team, as a 17-year-old teen, at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. She placed eleventh, along with Carla Geurts, Chantal Groot, and Manon van Rooijen, in the 4×200 m freestyle relay with a time of 8:08.53.

During 1982 and 1983, Horn worked with Malcolm McLaren and Anne Dudley, writing numerous worldwide hits including "Buffalo Gals", "Double Dutch", "Duck for the Oyster" and the Duck Rock album. In 1983, Horn also co-formed Art of Noise, co-writing several hits including "Close (To the Edit)", "Beat Box", "Moments in Love", and "Slave to the Rhythm". This was originally intended as Frankie Goes to Hollywood's second single, but was instead given to Grace Jones. Horn and his studio team reworked and reinterpreted it, jazz style, into six separate songs to form Jones's album Slave to the Rhythm.

The album's lead track on the EP, "Could Be Anything", was featured on the Abercrombie & Fitch website and two television shows (Grey's Anatomy and Falcon Beach), and received major airplay on college radio stations nationwide. In October 2005, shortly after graduating from Louisiana State University, the band released their full- length debut "Double Dutch". The week of the album's release, the band's tour bus got in an accident with a military truck on the way home from a photo shoot, thus cancelling a tour booked for November that year. The military truck was only in the area for providing Hurricane Katrina aid.

Barbara Pearl Jones (later Slater, born March 26, 1937) is a retired American sprinter. She was part of the 4 × 100 m relay teams that won gold medals at the 1952 and 1960 Olympics and at the 1955 and 1959 Pan American Games. At the 1952 Olympics she became the youngest woman to win an Olympic gold medal in athletics, aged 15 years 123 days.U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Kansas City, Missouri Public and Charter Schools Host 2nd Annual Double Dutch D. In 1978, WMOT Records hired him for a national sales position, transitioning to an A&R; position a year later. This enabled him to sign and develop new talent on the Philadelphia scene at the time. Influenced by "The Sound of Philadelphia", Martinelli credits Dexter Wansel for his technical studio training. Although Martinelli and WMOT did well in America with Frankie Smith's "Double Dutch Bus," it took a trip overseas for him to create a niche with his production style; he co-produced "Zoom" for Fat Larry's Band, and it rose to the top of the British pop singles chart in 1981.

In 2011, Aretha Franklin expressed interest in having Barrino play her in a planned biographical movie.

WDAS-FM's rising success paralleled the red-hot popularity of the new R&B; sound developed at Philadelphia International Records. By 1975, as the Philly Sound laid the musical groundwork for disco, the station began to integrate more dance music into the station's playlist to go along with its rising popularity. By the end of the decade, WDAS-FM introduced its listenership to new sounds of Rap with artists such as Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and Kurtis Blow as well showcasing local talent like Frankie Smith (of "Double Dutch Bus" fame). Ruza Blue, nicknamed "Kool Lady Blue", founded an all-races dance club in June 1982 (formerly at Club Negril 1981 - 82) which featured a mash up of all musical styles from early hip hop, electro, funk, soul, disco, rock, punk, dub and electronic dance music. Jon Baker, the future founder of Gee Street Records, worked the door. Hip hop pioneers such as Grand Mixer D.ST and Afrika Bambaataa began DJing there and the club sponsored breaking or b-boy/b-girl competitions featuring the Rock Steady Crew, Floor Master Crew New York City Breakers, graffiti artists' murals, and even double- exhibitions by The Fantastic Four local American Double Dutch League champions with emcees hosting the nights. Artists such as Madonna, Run DMC, Kraftwerk, Shannon, Malcolm McLaren, New Edition, Kurtis Blow, The Beastie Boys and Yello performed there.

In a contemporary review of the album, The Village Voices Robert Christgau found that "McLaren knows how to record African music for Western ears, and the ebullient tunes he's collected here more than make up for his annoyance quotient", but also criticised McLaren and Horn for failing to give credit to the South African musicians involved in the recording, such as Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens. The Mbaqanga group the Boyoyo Boys took legal action against McLaren over the similarity of "Double Dutch" with its own hit "Puleng". After a lengthy legal battle in the UK, the matter was settled out of court, with payment made to the South African copyright holders, songwriter Petrus Maneli and publisher Gallo Music, but Horn and McLaren retained their songwriting credits. Duck Rock was ranked at number 9 among the "Albums of the Year" for 1983 by NME, and it ultimately became a critical favourite, garnering accolades from various other publications in the years following its release.

After a successful 1993 and a titles-full amateurs period (double Dutch champion and silver medal at the European Championship) Poeder followed the advice of his friends (and professional boxers) Raymond Joval (“Halleluja”) and Regilio Benito Tuur (“Turbo”) and went to the United States to train for a two-month period. In the United States Poeder trained at the Gleason's gym in New York a boxing gym with tradition located in Brooklyn. Some of the fighters who trained at the Gleason’s gym include Jake LaMotta, Roberto Durán, Benny "Kid" Paret, Paulie Malignaggi, Gerry Coone, Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. Soon after his arrival in Rotterdam Poeder was followed by the famous boxing manager Stan Hoffman – known for training several world champions, among them: James Toney, Hasim Rahman, Michael Bentt, Lucia Rijker and, later, Poeder. Hoffman met Poeder in Dudok in Rotterdam in a very informal sphere and on a table napkin drew what became Poeder’s professional boxing career.

The EP received generally mixed reviews. Music websites Sputnikmusic, Rate Your Music, and Album of The Year gave it an average rating of 3.3 out of 5, 2.77 out of 5, and 64 out of 100, respectively. Music webzine What's On The Hi-Fi reviewed the EP shortly after its release, describing the opening track "Happy Eyez" as "a child's dream pop song with a carousel organ and double-dutch jump rope beat", the track "Coconuts" as "a Kid Loco-esque drum beat below a toy piano and regular piano and an off time harmony", and the track "Milkman" as "a very grown up blues/jazz lament that features Bianca's best vocals over a cool, laconic jazz piano best compared to Leon Russell’s pared down offerings." A review in a June 2009 issue of JH Weekly newspaper gave the album 4 out of 5 stars, describing it as "accessible, but equally lullaby- like" and noting the "buttery, child-like voices over what seem to be horn loops, organs, strings".

Then Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren's "Buffalo Gals" (Charisma, 1982), featuring the New York hip hop group World's Famous Supreme Team, was the breakthrough hit that introduced the genre to the United Kingdom — McLaren's Duck Rock album as a whole experimented with many musical styles from around the world. "Buffalo Gals" and another track from the album, "World's Famous" which also featured the group, used techniques which have been established in hip hop in the United States, such as sampling and scratching. McLaren even included a song referencing the 'Double Dutch' dance that was popular among breakdancing crews in New York at the time. Over the next few years, more UK hip hop and electro music was released: Street Sounds Electro UK (Street Sounds, 1984), which was produced by Greg Wilson and featured an early appearance from MC Kermit, who later went on to form the Wilson produced Ruthless Rap Assassins; The Rapologists' "Kids Rap/Party Rap" (Billy Boy, 1984) and Grandmaster Richie Rich's "Don't Be Flash" (Spin Offs, 1985).

After its release, "Angel" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 48 on the issue dated April 27, 1985, while her previous single "Crazy for You" was at number-two on the chart. After ten weeks, "Angel" reached a peak position of five on the chart. The song tied Madonna with Olivia Newton- John, as the female artist with the most consecutive top-five hits on the Hot 100 at that time. "Angel" debuted on the Adult Contemporary chart for the issue dated May 11, 1985, and reached a peak of five. The song debuted at number 40 on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart on June 1, 1985, and reached the top after three weeks. It also charted on a number of Billboard charts, such as reaching the top of the Hot Dance Singles Sales and the Hot R&B;/Hip-Hop Songs chart at position 71. On July 30, 1985, "Angel" and "Into the Groove" were together certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for the shipment of one million copies across United States—the requirement for a gold single prior to 1989. It was the first 12-inch single to be certified gold, since Frankie Smith's "Double Dutch Bus" (1981).
