The parade recognizes those who support humor and entertainment that appear in the DooDah Parade by giving out award plaques in a ceremony at the Music Pier immediately at the conclusion of the march. The "Golden Hot Dog" award is given to those entertainers from the extended local area. The "Double Doggy DooDah Glutton- For-Punishment Award" is given to anyone who appears in the Ocean City Parade after being in any other DooDah Parade elsewhere in the country.

Artemis and Minerva are now noted to be very close in age. The book ends with Holly finding out that Mulch has recruited Doodah Day, and Artemis finds out that he is the brother of toddlers.

The first single "DooDah!", adapted from American folk song "Camptown Races", was a big hit also in several countries, including Denmark, where it reached # 3 on the Danish charts. The album was rereleased in 1999 titled More Toonage which contained more songs than the original.

The area where Leonora-Gwalia are situated was first travelled by Sir John Forrest in 1869 during an unsuccessful search for signs of explorer Ludwig Leichhardt's expedition from the east. Forrest named a noticeable knoll Mount Leonora after a female relative. A number of years passed before Edward "Doodah" Sullivan first pegged the area in 1896 for gold prospecting, on the heels of recent finds in Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie.

Celebrity comedians and TV stars have served as grand marshal in this parade, including Joan Rivers, Joe Franklin, Larry Storch, Mickey Rooney, Soupy Sales, Bill Dana, Captain Noah and many others. After his grand marshal appearance, legendary kids' TV host Soupy Sales became a regular guest at DooDah and following the parade, was honored by presiding over the "Pieasco" in which participants are invited to toss shaving cream pies at each other, just like the ones Soupy got hit with on his classic show. All parade participants receive a free commemorative T-shirt and hot dog courtesy of sponsor Dietz & Watson. Other parade regulars include "Trash Buster" (played by chief DooDah organizer Mark Soifer from Ocean City's Community Affairs department), "Underdog Lady" Suzanne Muldowny, the "Wizard of Odd", the Pitman NJ Hobo Band, kids radio host Kathy O'Connell, and hundreds of dogs taking part in the annual Bassett Hound Waddle as part of the weekend's festivities.

Unfortunately, the party is three years off into the future. Artemis and Holly are shocked to learn Ark Sool has been fired after suggesting the demon race be left to die off, and Mulch has continued the PI firm, also recruiting Doodah Day. When Artemis finds Butler, now with a beard, Butler reveals that Minerva has grown to be "quite a beautiful young woman" who talks about Artemis extensively and that he is now the big brother of twins.

Leonora in 1899 The first European explorer was John Forrest, who visited the area in 1869. On 21 June 1869 Forrest's party made camp near a conspicuous hill, which Forrest named Mount Leonora, after his six-year-old niece Frances (Fanny) Leonora Hardey. In 1895, gold was discovered in the area by prospector Edward "Doodah" Sullivan at the Johannesburg lease just north of the current townsite. In the following two years a number of rich finds resulted in rapid development of the area.

Artemis Fowl and the Lost Colony involves bringing the demon island Hydras back from "Limbo" with the help of N°1, a powerful demon warlock. Artemis, Butler, Holly, Mulch, and Foaly reunite after Artemis encounters a demon from the island Hydras, and Holly and Mulch capture the pixie fish smuggler Doodah Day. Foaly tells them after the Battle of Taillte, the war for land against fairy and human, the demon fairy family sent themselves out of time on the island Hydras, and that on their island their time can be anything on ours. The time spell is crumbling, and demons are appearing on earth without warning.

A long-running parade, in Ocean City, New Jersey, is held every April (usually on the Saturday after Tax Day) on the New Jersey shore. The Ocean City DooDah Parade originally took place in Pitman, New Jersey, but migrated closer to the ocean a couple of years later. The route starts from 6th Street and goes down Asbury Avenue through downtown Ocean City, turns east on 12th Street and then proceeds up the boardwalk, ending at the historic Music Pier. OC's parade is billed as a salute to humor and comedy, featuring impersonators of Groucho Marx, Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Abbott & Costello and many other classic movie stars.

Holly is captured trying to rescue the imp, but Artemis has Foaly recruit Mulch Diggums and the pixie criminal Doodah Day to sabotage the security of the Paradizo villa. When Artemis distracts Minerva, Holly and No.1 escape, after the bug Day plants in wiring in the villa allows Foaly to have the CCTV monitors show a massive military attack on the house, and destroy Minerva's research. With most of the security in ruins, Minerva is persuaded to give up her plans. However Billy Kong has his agenda, as he wishes to kill all demons to avenge the murder of his brother, who lied about demons attacking him, when in reality he was involved in gang wars.

The Cartoons, also known as Cartoons DK, were a bubblegum dance and country pop band from Denmark, best known for their Eurodance cover of the 1958 novelty song "Witch Doctor" by Ross Bagdasarian and their "DooDah!" song, both hits of 1998, as well as for their outlandish plastic costumes and wigs used in live performances as caricatures of 1950s American Rock and roll stars. The Cartoons were originally called "The Scooters" in the late 1980s , and played rockabilly music from the 1950s and 1960s. In 1994, The Scooters released the album Live at Woodstock . In 1997, the group changed its name to Cartoons, and began making "technobilly" music, which was the group's own expression of rock 'n' roll mixed with eurodance.

One of the most popular and longest-running participant groups is the Marching Fidels, a group dressed like Fidel Castro who take siestas along the parade route and conscript bystanders into the Cuban army, dressing them in camouflage and "forcing" them to march in the parade. Also featured are the Emperor of the Short North and the King and Queen of DooDah. In recent years, participants have included groups such as the Fishnet Mafia, the Wilber Hills Country Club, Feature Creatures Haunted Acting Troupe of Central Ohio, Four Men Walking Abreast (four men carrying a pink balloon adorned with a brighter pink spot in the middle), Deri Air, the Ohio Roller Derby, and the Doo Dah Band. At one time, the parade featured a limosine: a stretched Yugo.
