In contrast to Morris' and Rollins' views, one scholarly source claims that the standard hardcore punk clothing and styles included torn jeans, leather jackets, spiked armbands and dog collars and mohawk hairstyles and DIY ornamentation of clothes with studs, painted band names, political statements, and patches. Another scholarly source describes the look that was common in the San Francisco hardcore scene as consisting of biker-style leather jackets, chains, studded wristbands, pierced noses and multiple piercings, painted or tattooed statements (e.g. an anarchy symbol) and hairstyles ranging from military-style haircuts dyed black or blonde, mohawks, and shaved heads.

After losing the Cruiserweight Championship, Kash began to frequently tag team with Jamie Noble to take on the face members of the cruiserweight division; during May 2006, Kash and Noble used a gimmick previously seen in ECW, where they wore dog collars, often barked at and bit opponents, and wrestled rather aggressively and soon after the team formed Kash has got a new haircut. The pair were soon named The Pit Bulls and entered the hunt for Paul London and Brian Kendrick's WWE Tag Team Championship. On July 23 at The Great American Bash, he and Noble were defeated by London and Kendrick, this was Kash's last WWE pay-per-view appearance. His last WWE appearance on the September 29 episode of SmackDown, Kash and Noble lost to K. C. James and Idol Stevens in a tag team match.

Bennett, was a law passed by the Australian Parliament and assent to on 24 September 1928 ostensibly "relating to employment in relation to trade and commerce with other countries and among the states", which mirrors the wording of Section 51(i) of the Constitution of Australia. It was instigated by the Nationalist Government of Stanley Bruce. The Act required all waterfront workers to hold federal licences, or "dog collars" as they were derisively known, to work. The Act allowed the Commonwealth government, by regulation, to effectively control who worked on the docks and nearly destroyed the Waterside Workers Federation.
