The series follows Hugh Knight (Rodger Corser), a heart surgeon, who is punished for a number of mishaps and is put on probation and forced to work in the country town of Whyhope for a year as a G.P., which coincidentally happens to be his hometown. On 31 March 2020, Nine Network announced that the series had been renewed for a fifth season.

Rodger Corser (born 28 February 1973) is an Australian actor. He is best known for his portrayals of Detective Senior Sergeant Steve Owen in the Nine Network crime mini-series Underbelly, based on the Melbourne gangland killings, and Senior Sergeant Lawson Blake in the Network Ten police drama series Rush, and as Dr.Hugh Knight in The Nine Network series Doctor Doctor or as known in places outside of Australia as The Heart Guy. Fraser recorded his own version of the song which he never released but which Palmer heard. This album and the hit single paved the way for his next album Secrets which reached No. 19 on the Billboard charts and gave Palmer his biggest hit yet with the Moon Martin penned "Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)". The album cracked the Billboard Top 100 peaking at No. 45 thanks to the success of "Every Kinda People", and two follow up singles continued to keep the album afloat on the charts. The last track "You're Going To Get What's Coming" penned by Palmer later became a hit single (reaching No. 73 on the Billboard Charts in 1980) for Bonnie Raitt and was featured on her 1979 album The Glow.

She appeared on the first episode of the German music show Musikladen on 13 December 1972, where she performed her two German hit singles "Sugar Me" and "Getting a Drag", as well as a few weeks later performing "Doctor, Doctor", which would appear on her debut album a few months later.
