Produced by Eno and Lanois, "Magnificent" (Fred Falke radio mix) was first released on the 2009 single "Magnificent". The track was remixed by Fred Falke, who plays additional keyboards in the piece. "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight" (Live U2360 remix) is the second track which had previously been unreleased, although the studio version (remixed by Redanka and Dirty South) was included on the single "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight" as the Redanka's Kick the Darkness mix. The track was recorded by Alastair McMillan on 27 July 2009 at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, on the first leg of the U2 360° Tour.
Later that year, on September 25, 2007, Sorbo returned in Walking Tall: Lone Justice. In the songs "The Buford Stick" and "The Boys From Alabama," from their 2004 album The Dirty South, the Drive-By Truckers speculated on how criminals might have viewed Pusser. Jimmy Buffett refers to an altercation between himself and Pusser in the songs "Presents To Send You" and "Semi-True Stories" (from the albums A1A and Beach House on the Moon, respectively). According to Buffet, he and Pusser were staying in the same Nashville motel when Buffet decided to go out for some food and bring it back to the motel.
Rolling Stone magazine published "glossary of Dirty South slang", where to crunk was defined as "to get excited". Outkast has been attributed as the first artist to use the term in mainstream music, in the 1993 track "Player's Ball". A seminal year for the genre was 1996, with the releases of Three 6 Mafia album Chapter 1: The End (featuring "Gette'm Crunk"), and Memphis-based underground hip hop artist Tommy Wright III's album On the Run, which featured the Project Pimp track "Getting Crunk". Artist Lil Jon was instrumental in bringing the term further into the mainstream with his 1997 album titled Get Crunk, Who U Wit: Da Album.
Les Mahoney is an American actor and filmmaker known for such films as Mike Case in: The Big Kiss Off, Coldwood and his latest film, which he also wrote and directed, At Granny's House. His film Mike Case in: The Big Kiss Off won four major awards at the 2013 Hollywood & Vine Film Festival, including best director (Justin Baird), Best Score (Edward "Tex" Miller), Best Actor (Mahoney) and the top prize, the Grand Jury Prize. Mahoney has appeared in over 40 films and over 30 TV series. In addition to those films already mentioned, Mahoney has had appearances in such movies as Killer Priest, Brando: Unauthorized, Dirty South and Tangerine Sky.
Hood's "The Buford Stick" completes the suite by providing examples of the negative effects of Pusser's actions while offering a less glorified view of the mythology surrounding Pusser. Cooley's last song on the album is a story about a father who instills a love of racing in his son. "Daddy's Cup" is the only song on "The Dirty South" that does not revolve around a negative experience, instead offering a lighter touch to the overall dirty feel of the album. Isbell has explained that "Never Gonna Change" is simply about a stubborn North Alabama man who "refuses to live in fear," which Isbell goes on to explain are rather rare.
Hi-risers, sometimes known as Quan-cars, originally grew out of the Dirty South subculture, but the trend has spread across the United States. Vehicles customized in the hi-riser style are distinguished by their over- sized (even disproportionate) wheels, ranging from 20 inches to 30 inches or more in diameter (largest being 50 inch), as well as fanciful custom paint- jobs and expensive audio equipment. Suspension modifications similar to those employed on lifted pickup trucks are made to give adequate clearance for the large wheels. Often the suspension is modified so the front end sits slightly higher than the rear end, giving the car a swaggering appearance.
Off the back of these outstanding competitive results he was signed to Slingshot and shortly after turned his focus from competition to creating video content. Ben spent over 10 years as a team rider for Slingshot, during which time he traveled the world and created feature-length documentaries such as The Dirty South and Shades of Green. He was featured in Surfers Journal in their article The Might of the Kite and continued to push kitesurfing towards a mainstream surf market through his Jeep Kite School initiative and coaching trips. Wilson’s first experience kitesurfing came in 2000 while working on Namotu Island, in Fiji.
Over the years, A-Trak has endorsed several brands including Serato Scratch Live and Rane DJ equipment. He was the first artist to ever endorse Serato and influenced many other DJs to use the software. He is known for merging the sounds of rap and electronic music through his remix work, his 2007 CD Dirty South Dance, his production for Kid Sister and Lupe Fiasco, and his remixes for electronic artists including MSTRKRFT and Boys Noize. However, some of his production displays a separation of his electronic and hip hop identities, with releases such as "Piss Test" featuring Juicy J and collaborations with Tommy Trash on "Tuna Melt".
Mr. Brown is the debut solo studio album by American singer and producer Sleepy Brown. It was released on October 3, 2006 via Purple Ribbon Records/Virgin Records. Studios in Los Angeles, at House of Blues Studio, Encino, at The Studio in Philadelphia, at Presidential Records Studio in Houston, at Glenwood Place Studios in Burbank, and at Le Crib Studios in Westport. Production was handled by Organized Noize, The Neptunes, Carl Mo, Printz Board and Presidential Productions.
He continued by writing that Dirty South had "crafted an album rich in both character and charisma, utilizing intricately layered productions of finely-tuned electronica to develop a 45-minute glance into his psyche". Travis Stewart of YourEDM praised the arrangements and creativity on the instrumental tracks of the album, but dubbed a few vocalised tracks as "lacklustre", notably "Something Like You". Stewart stated that although he liked the instrumental form of the track, he commented that "Rudy’s vocals are drowned out in the mix and sound very subdued. While the filter effects are a nice touch, his voice simply does not stand out".
In 2013, Migos released their breakout single "Versace". The single was produced by Zaytoven and peaked at number 99 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Later that year, Canadian rapper Drake brought the single more recognition when he remixed the song, adding a verse, which he would later perform at the 2013 iHeartRadio Music Festival. On June 13, Migos released their mixtape Y.R.N. (Young Rich Niggas), which features the lead single "Versace", to critical acclaim. Brandon Soderberg of Spin gave it 8 out of 10 stars, commenting that it "is a super-cut of Dirty South vibes" and compared the three members to Gucci Mane, Soulja Boy, and Future.
"Look at Me Now" is a song by American recording artist Chris Brown, featuring fellow American rappers Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne, released as the second single from Brown's fourth studio album F.A.M.E. on February 1, 2011. The artists co-wrote the song with its producers Afrojack, Diplo, and Free School, with additional writing from Ryan Buendia. Musically, "Look at Me Now" is a "Dirty south-inspired" hip hop song that features "thumping bass, spacy synth and horn jam sounds." Critical reception towards the song was positive, where critics noted it as a standout track on the album, and praised Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne's rap verses.
He began his career DJing at MJQ, a small night club in Atlanta, and then began working in commercial studios producing hip-hop tracks for Dirty South rappers. However, Herren wanted to create his own music and started collecting second-hand instruments and drum machines during this part of his career. He eventually moved to New York City to go to college; there he began recording his first major release, Sleep Method Suite, under the name of "Delarosa and Asora". The album was released in 1997. In 2000, Herren released the album Folk Songs for Trains, Trees, and Honey under the name "Savath & Savalas".
Elements of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" (1984) were heavily sampled throughout the remix, most noticeably in the song's introduction. Lil Wayne's verse was later removed and replaced by a new verse by the song's composers, Rock City, due to issues with it being cleared in time for its commercial release as a B-side to "Whatcha Think About That", the second single from Doll Domination. For unknown reasons, the remix was never released. Additional "club" and "dub" remixes of "When I Grow Up" by DJs Dave Audé, Digital Dog, Dirty South and Ralphi Rosario, and the electronic band Wideboys were also released in a series of Compact Disc single and digital download releases.
" Grant Jones of RapReviews gave the album a 6.5 out of 10, saying "Ultimately, it is an intense listen and thankfully only eleven tracks in length, any more and it would become too much. Given the lyrical nature of an artist like Crooked, I'd have liked to hear a bit more variety, as what we are offered here is a Slaughterhouse record with one member rather than a true Crooked I album. Sonically, this album is well produced but does have some dodgy moments; "Tell Them Motherfuckers We Made It" cuts right through the most tolerable ear drums, while "No Sleep Gang" is a weak attempt at a Dirty South style anthem that gets drowned out in bass.
He provides lead vocals on "Suddenly" and backing vocals on "The Emergency" and "Forget Me". He also collaborated with Richard Durand on "Night & Day", and with Armin van Buuren on "This Light Between Us", taken from his album Mirage. Other collaborations include tracks by Matt Darey, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Dirty South. Burns' debut solo album is called Simple Modern Answers and was released on 25 October 2013. In 2012, Burns began a collaboration with BT on a single entitled All Hail the Silence, eventually leading to a full studio album initially set for release in the late summer or fall of 2012, but was postponed until after both are done with their solo albums.
Athens' local country scene has never been as significant as the profusion of indie rock bands; however, modern Athens rock takes many elements from the folk, bluegrass and country traditions, including such bands as the Normaltown Flyers. The band Drive-By Truckers, Power Play, and the Holman Autry Band, have done much in recent years to make country rock a major part of Athens' musical identity. Recent bands such as The Broken String Band have emerged influenced by the folk rock genre. The rapper Bubba Sparxxx, originally from South Georgia, has also helped diversify Athens' country heritage, by adding a rural image and elements of country music to his Dirty South style of hip hop music.
Alexander Parkhomenko and Yury Parkhomenko both started out as solo artists and started working together under the name "Matisse & Sadko" in 2010. Initially releasing tracks on labels Armada Zouk and Refune Music, they were brought into mainstream eyes with the release of "Trio" on 5 March 2012 which was produced with Russian DJ Arty. The track received support from artists Swedish House Mafia, Alesso and Dirty South and was known for inputting "elements from classic trance to create a truly monumental progressive house festival anthem". On 12 August 2013, Matisse & Sadko collaborated with Steve Angello to release "SLVR" on Angello's label Size Records, which marked its 100th release and Size's 10th anniversary.
Ministers of the Underground had a small-time show on Christian television, but was taken off the networks when Christian television opted for more orthodox style programming. The Ministers of Underground hosted events at a series of venues under the name CRU VENTION, or the convention of Underground Hip Hop for Christ, until around the year 2001. A few Christian rappers have emerged from Atlanta, including Remnant Militia and D.I.R.T. While many notable studios and artists share influence in holy hip hop, not one style dominates. Christian hip hop features all conventional hip hop styles, such as Midwest (Hostyle Gospel), West Coast (T-Bone) and East Coast (BB Jay), and Dirty South (Pettidee) and King Wes.
Former member John Neff returned as a guest to play pedal steel on about half the album, although he did not tour with the band for the album. After years of producing and playing with Drive-By Truckers, bassist Earl Hicks left the band on December 22, 2003. Hicks was immediately replaced by studio bassist Shonna Tucker, then-wife of guitarist Jason Isbell. Tucker had previously guested on Decoration Day, playing upright bass on the Cooley-penned track, "Sounds Better in the Song." In 2004, Drive- By Truckers released yet another concept album entitled The Dirty South, which further explored the mythology of the South, with songs focusing on Sam Phillips and Sun Records, John Henry, and a three-song suite about Sheriff Buford Pusser.
" Gregory Heaney of AllMusic praised the producers and guest artists for creating an album that's a culmination of the Dirty South sound and Gucci for straddling the line between excessive and contemplative, saying that, "At the end of the day, The State vs. Radric Davis delivers the full spectrum of Gucci Mane, showing both the cash and yellow diamond-loving side, as well as his more reflective (or at least more self- aware) side." Rob Markman of XXL also credited the album for having the producers supply it with great sounds and for giving Gucci some guests artists he can trade lines with, concluding that "musically, The State vs. Radric Davis has proven the rapper's case beyond a reasonable doubt.
KickRaux was born in Portmore, Jamaica and raised in Miami, Florida. His early remixes led to a feature on MTV UK's The Wrap Up. KickRaux replaced the name Rieces Pieces under which he produced his first remix of M.I.A. featuring Jay Z "XXXO'". In 2012 he produced several dancehall remixes which led to radio play on BBC Radio 1Xtra and other international radio stations across Russia, France, Canada, Australia and the Caribbean. In 2013, KickRaux went back to EDM bass music to collaborate and release EDM remixes which received positive reviews and support from a number or publications (MTV Hive, Spin Magazine, Vibe, Peace Magazine, Pigeons & Planes, The Frontliner) and DJs of the genre (Flosstradamus, Dj Carnage, Nick Catchdubs, Dirty South Joe and Swizzymack).
On the other side - Sniper Records - the quite successful hip-hop magazine "Knockout", the "NGP" video shooting studio, and the several hip-hop events powered by Sniper Records such as the Cilvaringz and RZA concert in Bulgaria and the "No borders" Balkan festivals placed in Sofia. No doubt this was a big progress for the Bulgarian hip-hop. There are two main trends in Bulgarian hip-hop: mainstream and underground. The first one set by Gumeni Glavi and their label R'n'b Records mirrored the American rap scene as depicted on MTV, complete with grillz, heavy jewelry, scantly clad women, Dirty South/East Coast/West Coast variations. The most distinct commercial Bulgarian rappers to date are Misho Shamara, Consa, 100 Kila and Upsurt.

The song's structure revolves around a series of "drops", an important component in electronic dance music derived from Jamaican sound systems as well as syncopated "trap beats" originating from dirty south hip-hop characterized with a booming bass drum and skittering hi-hats. OutKast spent 2 years working on their 5th effort, before releasing a double album, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, on September 23, 2003. It is essentially two solo albums, one by each member, packaged as a single release under the OutKast banner; the two members also appear and co produce on each other's discs for a few songs apiece. Big Boi's Speakerboxxx is largely a funk and Dirty South blended party record; André 3000's The Love Below features only brief instances of hip hop, presenting instead elements found in funk, jazz, rock, electronic music, and R&B.; The album is also OutKast's biggest commercial success yet, having debuted on the Billboard 200 albums chart at number-one and stayed there for several weeks.

Music journalist T. Hasan Johnson notes "Outkast's first submission to the music industry" as significant for how they "broke from the binary production options split by California and New York artists", viewing that their decision to boast their region and a native production team "signaled a break from the conventional split between East and West hip hop aesthetics and openly demonstrated that the South could produce street-certified, quality music." Nicole Hodges Persley cites its release as a critical moment in hip hop and writes that it "marked a break in bicoastal hip hop sound". The album presaged hip hop's "Dirty South" aesthetic, which later achieved mainstream recognition. Its smooth musical style, drawing on soul and funk musical traditions, and the duo's clever lyrics helped define Southern hip hop's sound,Mack (2009), p. 21.

Unlike most rap remix albums, the songs' lyrics are also reimagined here with at least first verse of each track rewritten. "Plain White Rapper (Kalimba Remix)", which was featured in Hip Hope Hits 2007, was reportedly intended to be a collaborative effort between KJ-52 and John Reuben (who previously appeared in the Collaborations song "The Choice Is Yours"). On March 31-st, 2010, he alongside other popular Bulgarian hip-hop artists was a supporting act for Lil Jon at his concert in Zala "Universiada" in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Southern hip hop, also known as Southern rap, South Coast hip hop, or dirty south, is a blanket term for a regional genre of American hip hop music that emerged in the Southern United States and the Southeastern United States, especially in Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, Memphis, and Miami—five cities which constitute the "Southern Network" in rap music. The music was a reaction to the 1980s flow of hip hop culture from New York City and the Los Angeles area and can be considered a third major American hip hop genre, after East Coast hip hop and West Coast hip hop. Many early Southern rap artists released their music independently or on mixtapes after encountering difficulty securing record-label contracts in the 1990s.[ allmusic] By the early 2000s, many Southern artists had attained national success, and as the decade went on, both mainstream and underground varieties of Southern hip-hop became among the most popular and influential of the entire genre.
