Makao, Macao or Böse Neun is a simple dice game for any number of players using a single die and a dice cup. It is a game in which the players must reach a specified score without exceeding it, in that way it resembles other dice games like Über 12 ist tot ("Over 12 is Dead") or Fünfzehn ("Fifteen") as well as the card games of Siebzehn und Vier and Black Jack. It is derived from the eponymous card game of Macao, which itself is a possible predecessor of the popular gambling game of Baccara. Like its eponymous cousin, its name comes from the city of Macao, the "Monte Carlo of the East".

There is printed evidence of a dice game known as "shut the box" being played in Manchester pubs in the mid-1960s. The Emperor Jones is a 1920 play by American dramatist Eugene O'Neill that tells the tale of Brutus Jones, a resourceful, self-assured African American and a former Pullman porter, who kills another black man in a dice game, is jailed, and later escapes to a small, backward Caribbean island where he sets himself up as emperor. The play recounts his story in flashbacks as Brutus makes his way through the jungle in an attempt to escape former subjects who have rebelled against him. Originally called The Silver Bullet,"The Emperor Jones", Encyclopædia Britannica. the play is one of O'Neill's major experimental works, mixing expressionism and realism, and the use of an unreliable narrator and multiple points of view.

The popularity of The Settlers of Catan led to the creation of spinoff games and products, starting in 1996 with The Settlers of Catan card game (later renamed to Catan Card Game), and the 2003 novel, Die Siedler von Catan, by German historical fiction author Rebecca Gablé, which tells the story of a group of Norse seafarers who set out in search of the mythical island of Catan. When they returned off tour with, Yo, Blanco, and Wayne decided to start Sqad Up with some of their close friends from New Orleans which were Nutt da Kidd, Gudda Gudda, T-Streets, Raw Dizzy, and Fee Banks. When Wayne was fifteen, he met Gudda at a dice game and said, "you should be rappin', you been through a lot". Throughout 2002 and 2003, they released seven parts of the SQ series being one of the first groups to start doing mixtapes in New Orleans.

Astronomical chess in «Libro de los juegos» Astronomical chess or Astrological chess for seven is a game from the book «Libro de los juegos» (Book of games), written under king Alfonso X the Wise in 1283. The game was played on a round board with concentric circles. The sky, zodiac signs and planets are the elements of this chess. The book described the games and problems of playing situations in chess, dice and other board games that formed the basis of modern backgammon. In some sources astronomical chess is called the «Zodiac». As David Parlett points out in his book «Oxford history of Board Games», the game has nothing to do with chess, but is just a kind of dice game.

In the Vedic tradition, young boys began the initiation at 8 years old, studying heroic poetry about past ancestors and practicing the hunting and fighting skills. At 16, they were initiated into a warrior band during the winter solstice ritual (the Ekāstakā), during which the boys went into an ecstatic state and ritually died to be reborn as dogs of war. After a dice game had determined their leader, the initiated were cast away in the wild for four years to live as dogs, stealing animals, women, goods and territory until the summer solstice ended the raiding season. The young warriors then returned to their forest residence where they held a Vrātyastoma sacrifice to thank the gods for their success.

There were 9 representations in a cycle of three plays : "La Partie de dés" (Dice game) on 7, 10, 16, 19, 25, 28 July ; "L'Exil dans la forêt" (The Exil in the forest) on 8, 11, 17, 20, 26, 29 July ; "La Guerre" (The War) on 9, 12, 18, 21, 27, 30 July. And these were played together on Night of Mahabharata, on 13, 22 et 31 July. The French stage version was produced by:Centre international de recherche théâtrales-Bouffes du Nord - C.I.R.T and the 39th Festival of Avignon (directed by A. Crombecque) and received the support of the French Culture Ministry and the City of Paris.

Cognitive bias research has suggested that people are susceptible to illusions of PK. These include both the illusion that they themselves have the power, and that the events they witness are real demonstrations of PK. For example, the illusion of control is an illusory correlation between intention and external events, and believers in the paranormal have been shown to be more susceptible to this illusion than others. Psychologist Thomas Gilovich explains this as a biased interpretation of personal experience. For example, someone in a dice game wishing for a high score can interpret high numbers as "success" and low numbers as "not enough concentration." Pandavas ruled from Indraprastha and Kauravas from Hastinapur (two collateral families) as per a brokered partition of the Kuru empire. But, in a dice game, Pandavas lost their Kingdom and were exiled for a 12-year term and in the 13th year must remain in hiding (with a rider that if they were detected during this period they would undergo the exile denovo). Mythological legend states that during the Pandavas' exile (imposed by their cousin Duryodhana of the Kaurava dynasty), in order to subdue Bhima’s (second of the five Pandava brothers) arrogance, Hanuman considered to be the brother of Bhima (both Vayu's children, appeared in the forest disguised as a weak and aged monkey.

As a young man, Cella left St. Louis and moved to Kansas City, where he became a bartender at the old Kansas City railroad depot. At the time, the bar was one of the wildest saloons in the US. After a year in Kansas City, Cella returned to St. Louis, opening a saloon. Cella's saloon became a local favorite for gamblers, thieves, and other various criminal elements. At the age of 24, he introduced a popular dice game operating out of the establishment, which netted Cella over $100,000 by the time he was 27. With his fortune in gambling profits, Cella became a bookmaker for horse gambling in the heart of the St. Louis business district in the early 1890s. Cella entered the horse racing industry in 1896, joining the partnership of Andrew Tilles and Samuel Adler. The partnership originally began with a cigar concession stand at the Delmar racetrack in 1886. In 1892, Tilles and Adler purchased the South Side race track.

Draupadi is presented in a pachisi game where Yudhishthira has gambled away all his material wealth. Incensed at the loss of all that he had won, Duryodhana threatened suicide and coerced his father into inviting the Pandavas for one last round of gambling, the terms of which were that the loser would be condemned to 12 years of exile into forests and a 13th year to be spent incognito, and if the cover be blown during the 13th year, another cycle of 13 years would ensue.

Little specific text about the gameplay of has survived; it may have been related to the older Ancient Greek dice game Kubeia. The earliest known mention of the game is in Ovid's Ars Amatoria ('The Art of Love'), written between 1 BC and 8 AD. In Roman times, this game was also known as alea, and a likely apocryphal Latin story linked this name, and the game, to a Trojan soldier named Alea.

Yarico frees Thomas, disobeying the village. At Bridgetown, Barbados, news of the two stranded Englishmen inspires a rescue mission, funded by tavern proprietor Polly Pennywell, Back on Yarico's island, Thomas recovers his strength in an isolated cave, tended by Yarico. He asks her to teach him some of her language (“The Lesson”) while Nono and Cicero let their passion for each other overcome their mutual incomprehension (“Hammock”). Thomas tells Yarico she has set him free from the cave of his old life (“The Cave”). Both couples face separation when an English ship arrives, but Yarico and Nono decide to leave home with their lovers, seen by the village Watchman (“Farewell, Yarico”). On board ship, the sailors take advantage of Thomas's gambling obsession and when he faces ruin provoke him to stake his own wife in “The Dice Game”. He loses, and Yarico becomes the property of the ship. Yarico and Nono wake to their first sight of Barbados, thrilled and unaware of the night's events (“Sailing to the Indies”) until Yarico is taken away.
