Marc Degens (born 18 August 1971) is a German novelist, essayist, short-story writer, and musician.

Degen is married to Jay L. Degen, who also held a professorship at the University of Cincinnati and studied hemoglobinopathies. The Degens have one daughter.

When he refuses, he is shot multiple times, survives, and joins the underground which consists of the degens who suffer great headaches twice daily. Degens believe that the ABM towers are responsible for that. Maxim participates in an attack on one such tower. Captured, tried and sent to a concentration camp in the South, the same one where he has made his landing, he is finally revealed the truth about the towers by a fellow prisoner high ranking member of the underground.

Degenerates is an Australian rock band formed by Jamie Durrant (guitar, vocals), Julien Chick (bass) and David Klenjans (drums). Their EP Out Of My Head saw them nominated for 1992 ARIA Award for Best New Talent. Degenerates were formed in 1987 as Degens with Robert MacKay (bass). In 1989 they released a single, "Out Of My Head", through Amputated Hand.

The entrance colonnade passage by Hansom (1894) is unique in English churches. Other features include bronzes of the Redeemer and St. Peter by Mayer (1872), The Holy Face, after Lorenzo di Credi, 1895 and J. M. Swynnerton's Pietà (1896). The magnificent Gothic Reredos were unaccountably removed during a 1970s refurbishment. The organ is by Henry Jones, built by Grant, Degens and Bradbeer in 1968.

In 1963 and 1964 she was visiting professor of the geological institute in Bordeaux. Additional visits abroad lead her to India, Africa, and South America. In summer 1974 she took part in the first expedition of Egon T. Degens to lake Van, where she studied the terrace sediments of the east Anatolian soda lake. She was an internationally acknowledged expert for bauxite when she retired in 1987.

He makes friends among the ordinary people that lead the life of privation and misery, while twice daily everyone is overcome by sudden an unexplained bouts of ecstatic enthusiasm, proclaiming their total allegiance and undying gratitude to the country's hidden rulers, known as the Unknown Fathers (in the censored versions Fire-bearing Creators), who are said to have the best interests of the people at heart, serving as bulwark against threats foreign and domestic, mainly from the so called degens (degenerates), the uncompromising enemies of the people, the terrorists who sometimes blow up the anti-ballistic missile (ABM) towers strewn around the country. All this makes little sense to Maxim, since his own society is free from war, hostility, crime and material shortages. Still confused about the official ideology, Kammerer gets enlisted in the military, to serve and protect the state and its people. He is ordered to execute some captured degens, one of them a woman.

Birdsong in The Empire is a 2007 album by Current 93. The album is a live recording from 4 June 2005 and was recorded at St George the Martyr Church in Toronto, Canada. Current 93 consisted of the following band members during this performance: David Tibet, Ben Chasny, Maja Elliott, John Contreras, Joolie Wood, Simon Finn, William Breeze, Baby Dee, Andria Degens and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. The album was limited to a 1000 copy digipack.

X-Men 2099 #1-3 They next search for a woman named Mama Hurricane, for information on the mutant underground railroad during the Great Purge. When they arrive they are attacked by a group of Degens (genetically enhanced humans) calling themselves the Freakshow. Eddie bumps into Contagion, a Freakshow member whose touch infects the victim with a virus of unknown origin and effect. Eddie's body begins to morph and his metallo-mimetic abilities begin manifesting at random.

The first acoustic survey of Lake Van was performed in 1974. Building on this, Kempe and Degens identified three distinct physiographic provinces within the lake: a lacustrine shelf (27% of the lake area) that extends from the shore to a clear gradient change; a steeper lacustrine slope (63% of the area); and a deep, relatively flat basin province (10% of the area) in the western center of the lake. The deepest part of the lake is the Tatvan basin, which is almost completely bounded by faults.

Because Lake Van has no outlet, the present- day level is very dependent on the balance between inflow and evaporation. The water level of the lake has often altered dramatically. Investigation by Degens and others in the early 1980s determined that the highest lake levels ( above the current height) had been during the last ice age, about 18,000 years ago. Approximately 9,500 years ago there was a dramatic drop to more than below the present level. This was followed by an equally-dramatic rise around 6,500 years ago.

They turn out to be broadcasting a mind control signal, employed by the Fathers to control the population. The constant low-intensity broadcast suppresses the ability of most people to evaluate information critically, making the omnipresent regime propaganda much more effective. In addition, twice a day an intense signal relieves mental stresses caused by the disconnect between the propaganda and the observed reality by inducing euphoria in the susceptible majority, and intense headaches in others who are immune to the signal's coercive power. Those are the only sober-thinking people in the country, including both the underground degens and the Fathers themselves.

They are granted reprieve however, when Brimstone leaves instead with Xi'an, who joins the Theatre.X-Men 2099 #13 Disillusioned by his mentor's defection, Tim returns to the other X-Men, with Luna, to reform the team and lead them against the Theatre of Pain. Together they storm the Theatre's Floodgate facility in California, fighting to a stalemate and forcing Brimstone Love to retreat. As Floodgate empties, Doom, self-imposed U.S. President, arrives and hires the X-Men as the protectorate of Halo City, a new city-state in the southwest, built to be a safe-haven for mutants, degens and other victims of genetic oppression.

Born in Essen, Degens grew up in the Ruhr Valley, and finished high school in Dorsten. Lexikon Westfälischer Autorinnen und Autoren 1750 bis 1950 He studied German studies and sociology at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, and graduated in 1999 with a work about Intertextuality and Distinction. In 1996, he founded a small but eclectic publishing house, SuKuLTuR, for which he has edited 147 volumes of the series “Schöner Lesen.” The series featured the work of German Writers such as Ann Cotten, Dietmar Dath, Wolfgang Herrndorf, and Clemens J. Setz, and German translations of works by Washington Cucurto, Denise Duhamel, Chris Kraus, Sarah Manguso, and Jeffrey McDaniel.

He was appointed to the influential churches of St Gabriels, Cricklewood and the Servite Priory, Fulham, where he presided over a new instrument by Grant, Degens & Bradbeer. It is typical of him that, having been appointed, he refused to take up the position in Fulham until the new organ had been completed. Latterly, he was one of the organists at Holy Trinity Sloane Street, where his colourfully expansive playing could be heard in central London each week in the years after 1987. He found a permanent niche as organist to the BBC Symphony Orchestra and consequently played the organ for twenty-nine Last Nights of the Proms.

The altar and reredos Looking back towards the entrance and organ The cloisters and the chapel are of particular note; much of the medieval stained glass in the ante-chapel was restored in a 20-year project which was commended in the 2007 Oxford Preservation Trust Environmental Awards. Renowned for its grand interior, the chapel contains works by Sir Jacob Epstein and El Greco and some of the stained glass windows were designed by the 18th-century portraitist Sir Joshua Reynolds. For example, the Great West window shows a design by Sir Joshua Reynolds. The organ was built by the firm of Grant, Degens, and Bradbeer in 1969, in a case designed by George Pace; somewhat revolutionary at the time, the instrument remains no less remarkable and idiosyncratic today.

In 1948, he was commissioned to design the organ for the Royal Festival Hall. When the organ was first unveiled in 1954, it caused some controversy, but it proved to be the beginning of what is now perceived as the classical reform movement in organ design, leaving behind the vast edifices of Victorian civic instruments in favour of a simpler and more cohesive sound, more characteristic of the Baroque era. Although the final result was still not wholly to his taste, lacking in some tonal colours which he would have preferred, it clearly pointed the way to the "modern" British organs such as those built by Grant, Degens and Bradbeer (see New College Oxford) and Mander. Downes helped execute the rebuilding of many famous organs, including St Albans Cathedral (in 1963) and Gloucester Cathedral (in 1971).
