A month before his death, Hunter fell and hit his head on concrete steps at home. He was unconscious for several days after the fall, but he had returned home from that hospitalization when he died. Hunter is interred at Cedarwood Cemetery in Hertford, adjacent to the field where he played high school baseball.

During WWI, Wilson traveled to England, preparing a report on flours in bread-making for wartime food shortages. She additionally helped the Department of Health in New York publish information on economic food choices. A year later, in 1918, she organized groups to help care for the influenza patients, as well as herself preparing food for families in need. After her death, Hunter College started a memorial lecture series named after her.

Hunter died of his cancer on 20 October 2011, aged 36. In August, one of Hunter's last live shows was at the Railway Hotel, with Mortar, performing the entire Fear and Loathing album. At the time of his death, Hunter was working on a charity album in support of youth cancer organisation, CanTeen. The album, Australian Hip Hop Supports CanTeen, was released on 2 December 2011, and completed with the help of fellow SBX crew member, Dazastah.

Bobbi Jo manages to wound the beast with her Beretta Sniper enough for it to retreat. Dixon arrives with a kill team of his own, planning to tie loose ends by bombing the area, along with Hunter and the survivors. Hunter threatens to destroy the synthesized serum if Dixon doesn't pull out his kill team. Dixon reluctantly complies but upon learning of Dr. Tipler's death, Hunter slashes the serum and forces Dixon into a helicopter, leaving Dr. Hamilton behind to be killed in the bombing.

The library opened in 1975 and was renamed at the time of its expansion in 1995-- shortly after Hunter's death. Hunter had been an early advocate of the founding of the BYU law school as a member of the BYU Board of Trustees and had also been closely connected with recruiting Rex E. Lee to be the first dean. Ben takes Hunter's departure particularly hard and becomes extremely distraught and angry with both Michael and himself, until they receive an e-mail from Hunter a few weeks later. Ben later tirelessly parades to stop "Proposition 14" which would take away gay civil rights and is present during the bombing of Babylon which severely injures Michael. During the vigil for the Babylon victims, Ben displays uncharacteristic rage when he brutally beats up a counter-protester who began mocking Michael's near death. Hunter reunites with Ben and Michael after the bombing and the couple legally adopts him in the series finale.

The Shoebox Zoo gains a fifth member following Wolfgang's death, Hunter (Callow), a spirit who inhabits a horse-shaped dancing stick. Hunter can transform into an actual horse, and is often involved in a running gag where he introduces himself via a lengthy monologue. The character of the Dawn Queen is established as a major antagonistic force, Toledo possessing the body of television medium Aurora Dexter (Natascha Girgis), who shares the same birthday as Marnie (11 November) and is a potential chosen one.

When Kat comes to Summer Bay House with news of Charlotte's death, Hunter is not there as he has briefly left town. When he returns home, he learns of his mother's death and "shuts down and goes numb". Lee continued, "In time these feelings that he's suppressed will comes out, but I think his first stage of grieving is to not deal with it – it's too much to handle." The actor pointed out that Hunter did love Charlotte, explaining that she was his only parent for a large part of his life and while they had some "challenging times" before her death, she was still his mother.

Sarah uses the connection between Castle and the Buy More to send a message to Casey, who soon arrives to free her from lockdown. Shaw arrives at the rendezvous, where the Director's men forcibly extract the tracking device and take him to the compound where the Director is waiting. Chuck arrives and finds the tracker, and tipped off by Jeff and Lester (who were stalking Shaw after feeling left out of Chuck's efforts to get back Sarah), follows the Ring agents to their compound. In the bunker, the Director reveals to Shaw that before his death, Hunter Perry was smuggling stolen surveillance footage of Shaw's wife's death and plays it for him.

The siege ends in a bloody battle after over a week of Hadal biowarfare, which includes using darts poisoned with the rabies virus and a Hadal who infects himself with Ebola before allowing himself to be killed by a mercenary sniper; soon to be cooked and eaten by the starving humans. Clemens, thought dead in the massacre of the volunteer army, returns and tells them that he has been dealing with the Hadals, who will release the children if the mercenaries surrender to certain torture and death. Hunter refuses and believes Clemens to be in league with the Hadals. Before he can be killed, the zip-tied Clemens is freed by Rebecca, and he promises to return with Samantha.

Hunter was born in Howard, Pennsylvania, to Michael Howard, an insurance salesman, and Laura Tipton. After her mother’s death, Hunter and her older brother, Harold, moved in with her aunt and uncle Frances and Edward McEntire in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, when she was 5 or 6 years old. Her love of drawing and art began when she was three years old; whenever she visited her grandmother, Hunter drew figures on the wallpaper in the stairway, apparently finding the wallpaper boring and unimpressive. Hunter remarked in an interview that “drawing is a perfectly natural thing, for the first impulse is to express one’s self, and the easiest way for a child to do this is by pictures.” She painted her first artwork in the 6th grade at Transeau Elementary School. Titled “We Bark for Transeau,” the piece depicted three puppies in a basket.
