The Daymare version of the album contains an exclusive bonus track. Broadrick had originally mentioned the EP in 2008 but a title and official release date had yet to be announced. It was later announced that Opiate Sun, would be released in July 2009, although that date was later rescheduled. Initially, the EP was intended to be the first studio recording to include the lineup of Justin Broadrick, Dave Cochrane, and Phil Petrocelli.

The American release was intended to be released on the same day as the Japanese release, but Daymare began selling the album without Hydra Head's knowledge. After finding out about the Japanese release, and realizing that Torche's song "King Beef" was already widely available illegally on the internet, Hydra Head was not in a rush to make the physical EP available in the US. Following the album's release, Isis embarked on a tour of North America, supported by Pelican and Tombs. They then went on to tour the UK and Europe through late 2009, supported variously by bands including Keelhaul, Dälek and Circle. They toured Australia, New Zealand and Japan with Baroness before returning to the United States to tour with Melvins, Jakob and Cave In from May to June.

Pale Sketches is a full length compilation of previously unreleased studio material recorded by Jesu between 2000 and 2007. It was released worldwide on October 9, 2007 through Justin Broadrick's own Avalanche Recordings label and limited to 2,000 copies on CD, and 1,000 on gatefold vinyl LP. On August 19, 2009, Daymare Recordings re-issued Pale Sketches as a two-disc CD set. The second disc features three exclusive, previously unreleased, remixes. On August 24, 2010, Justin Broadrick released Jesu: Pale Sketches Demixed on Ghostly International under the name "Pale Sketcher".

KTL is a musical project consisting of Stephen O'Malley (Sunn O)))) and Peter Rehberg (Pita), originally formed to create the music for a theater production titled Kindertotenlieder by Gisèle Vienne and Dennis Cooper. The production premiered in Brest, France, in March 2007. The duo has also played shows not associated with the Kindertotenlieder production. In late 2008, it was announced on Stephen O'Malley's web site that KTL's fourth album would be released January 2009 through Editions Mego and February 2009 through Daymare Records with a vinyl release on Inoxia.

Jesu is the first full-length album by British experimental music band Jesu, released through Hydra Head Records on 8 December 2004. Unlike the Heart Ache EP, where Justin Broadrick executed all instrumentation himself, this release features Ted Parsons on drums, Diarmuid Dalton on bass, and a guest appearance by Paul Neville on guitar on the track "Man/Woman". Originally unsure of how to release the album, Cave In later signed back to Hydra Head Records to release Perfect Pitch Black. Lyrically, several songs on Perfect Pitch Black vent about the band's frustrations with their major label stint. According to guitarist and vocalist Stephen Brodsky, the act of trepanning is to drill a hole in the skull to alleviate stored up pressure in the brain, and the song "Trepanning" lyrically "fully expresses our sentiment at the time of this song-writing period." The songs "Down the Drain" and "Droned" were originally released on Bootleg CD by Cave In during spring 2003, and "Trepanning" was originally released in 2004 on a SXSW Hydra Head sampler (demo version), a Daymare Recordings sampler and a Deathwish Inc. sampler.

The album was inspired by their June 2014 Boiler Room set, during which Boris played a drumless set, followed by Merzbow, and then a joint set by Boris with Merzbow. In support of Gensho, they played a one-off show at Fever in Tokyo on November 27, 2015; a recording of the concert called Gensho at Fever 11272015 is included as a bonus with the Japanese release of Gensho by Daymare Recordings. It includes the recorded debut of a new Boris song "More", as well as a performance of rare song "Kilmister," created for the web anime series Ninja Slayer, and a cover the Man song "Many Are Called, but Few Get Up". Because the Boris tracks are primarily drone-based, both presented versions of the song "Akuma no Uta" are actually more similar to "Introduction" from the same album; regardless, the song is credited as "Akuma no Uta" on all versions.
