In 2013, WIDA subsumed a number of Irish dance schools in North America previously affiliated with the North American Irish Dance Federation. Sports Colleges were introduced in 1997 as part of the Specialist Schools Programme in the United Kingdom. The programme enabled secondary schools to specialise in certain fields, in this case, PE, sports and dance. It either referred to the way the ratchet- like sound of the Güiro is produced by rubbing a scraper over its indentations or to the scratching movements – similar to a scraping chicken – the dancers perform during the folk dance. The Munich State Opera ballet took part in the first Night of the Amazons in 1936. However, since classical ballet was said to have not enough Germanness and national pride and to be affected from foreign influence, a wide variety of dance schools with expressive dance were used from 1937 onwards. Destri moved in and out of Brazil, studying jazz, classical ballet and dance at every opportunity. Training with Pina Bausch, Alwin Nikolais and Twyla Tharp, she has also gained experience in theatre, television and film, collaborating with Mauricio Sherman, Roberto Talma, Marly Tavares and Lennie Dale. In the 1990s, she went to Germany to teach contemporary dance and Brazilian jazz at Tanz Hause in Düsseldorf and in dance schools in Cologne and around Germany. The basic steps of this pattern move side to side, changing direction after every tap. Characteristics of this "early" dance school dance is the close connection between partners, soft hip movements, tap with a small "pop" of the hip on the 4th step (1, 2, 3, tap/hip) and does not include many turns/figures. Mabel Elsworth Todd (1880 - 1956) is known as the founder of what came to be known as 'Ideokinesis', a form of somatic education that became popular in the 1930s amongst dancers and health professionals. Todd's ideas involved using anatomically based, creative visual imagery and consciously relaxed volition to create refine neuromuscular coordination. Lulu Sweigard, who coined the term Ideokinesis, and Barbara Clark furthered Todd's work. Todd's work was published in her book 'The Thinking Body' (1937), which is now considered by modern dance schools to be a classic study of physiology and the psychology of movement.

Many of his students, after graduating from the College of Culture and the Merezhyvo Dance Ensemble, became professional dancers, choreographers, teachers, some founding and leading Ukrainian dance schools in Ukraine and abroad. WIDA is an "open platform" organisation, meaning that their competitions are open to dancers registered under any organisation or without affiliation, and conversely, that their dancers may participate in competitions organised by any other organisation. Furthermore, affiliation with WIDA and other open platform organisations is based on adherence to mission statements and values rather than strict registration, as many open platform dance schools wish to remain relatively independent. WIDA mandates simple costumes of polo shirts and skirts for dancers under the age of 12 competing in the beginner category. Wigs and other hairpieces are also restricted depending on the ability level.

Suma began writing The Walls Around Us after reaching a period of self-doubt where she questioned "everything about my writing and my career as a YA author and feeling unsteady about what to do next". While writing the book she wrote the viewpoints of Violet and Amber separately, finishing one point first and then returning to write second point of view, after which she spliced the two stories into one book. Suma did not want to create likeable characters, instead considering less likeable ones to be more interesting. For the book Suma drew upon her past experiences studying dance at small-town dance schools.

Children in action A spectacular take on the traditional baby rally which was first organised in 1968 by the Naturalist Association of Patras, the Children's Carnival is an event that is exclusive to the Patras carnival. It culminates with the major parade that takes place the week before the grand parade. On that day thousands of young carnivalists from Patras, Western Greece and beyond, from the age of zero upwards, parade through the streets of Patras with their mums and dads, teachers and supervisors dressed in bright costumes, in groups created by their nurseries, kindergartens, music schools, dance schools and others. Cheerleaders and young musicians in the municipality band accompany them.

After a slow swinging of the body into ever- increasing circles, came head, shoulder, and torso rolls, with the arms sweeping from the floor to the ceiling followed by a relaxed run around the circumference of the studio, ending in a back fall. Other exercises included Javanese arm movements, and hand stretches to train the dancers Western fingers into going backward into some semblance of Cambodian dance flexibility. Artrix is an arts venue in Bromsgrove, England, located on School Drive just outside the town centre. The building was constructed between 2004 and 2005 on a green field site near Heart of Worcestershire College Bromsgrove campus and the Bromsgrove 'Blue Light' centre. It hosts theatre and dance performances, cinema screenings, live music (including touring bands, solo artists and classical music), comedy from well-known performers to circuit comedians. Today, the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing promotes the Cecchetti method as a syllabus-based series of dance examinations, which are taught by registered teachers around the world in both pre-vocational and vocational dance schools. The syllabus is a progressive series of graded and vocational graded examinations, which are accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, the government-appointed regulator of qualifications in England and Wales. Successful exam passes in the Cecchetti method can therefore be submitted for credit towards other nationally recognised qualifications, however this only applies in England and Wales. These qualifications are in reality usually taken by the amateur rather than the professional dancer.

In the same year, she opened her first Mandaryna Dance Studio, which has since evolved into a chain of successful dance schools, and regularly appeared on Rozmowy w toku, a popular talk show. Camporeale was born in Giovinazzo, a small town in the Province of Bari. According to his biographies at the Scuola Wilson and BDR dance schools, at the age of six he sang in the 1972 regional finals of the Zecchino d'Oro competition and in 1977 won a regional radio competition as a pianist performing "Honky Tonk Train Blues" by Meade Lux Lewis. After completing a diploma in piano in 1990 he worked as an accompanist for the Compagnia Italiana di Operette and the Teatro Petruzzelli. Madhavi Mudgal was born to Professor Vinay Chandra Maudgalya, the founder of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya; one of the most famous dance schools for Hindustani music and classical dance in New Delhi. American style tango's evolutionary path is derived from Argentina to the United States, when it was popularized by silent film star Rudolph Valentino in 1921, who demonstrated a highly stylized form of Argentine tango in The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. As a result, the Hollywood style steps mixed in with other social dance steps of the times began this branch away from the Argentine style. Meanwhile, the tango was also making its own inroads into Europe. Following the English standardization of their version of tango, Arthur Murray, a ballroom dance instructor in the U.S., tried his own hand at standardizing the ballroom dances for instruction in his chain of social dance schools.

Ballet Black have been nominated for several awards including The Critics' Circle National Dance Awards, Sky Arts, and Oliviers. This documentary explores the difficult journey of discerning young people from the first steps in amateur dance schools to a career as the main dance performer in one of the world's most famous dance companies. Many interviews were taken, with famous protagonists of the dance scene worldwide, such as the well-known dancer Etoile from The Scala in Milano, and Béjart's muse, Luciana Savignano and among others, with the Swiss actress Sabine Timoteo, a former dancer. In the 2000s many guest choreographers have directed at the theatre: Dmitri Harchenko, Rachid Tika, Matteo Moles, Mai Murdmaa, Toomas Edur, Stanislav Fečo, Vassili Medvedjev, Hugo Fanari, Saša Pepeljajev, Pär Isberg and the Vanemuine people Mare Tommingas, Oleg Titov (member of the Vanemuine until 2004), Ruslan Stepanov, Janek Savolainen and Silas Stubbs. Paul Mägi has been the music director and chief conductor of Vanemuine Theatre since 2011.

In 1946 she starred in the musical show Beggar's Holiday, with music by Ellington and lyrics by John LaTouche. She also began working as a teacher at the dance schools run by Katherine Dunham and Eugene Loring, where she taught actors including Marlon Brando. In 1948 she was a headline act at the Florentine Gardens in Los Angeles, which renamed itself as the Cotton Club, and then taught burlesque and other routines to dancers in the chorus line at the club. She appeared in the RKO movie They Live By Night, as well as Betty Grable's 20th Century Fox film Wabash Avenue, and toured the US in The Big Show of 1951 with Ethel Waters, Sarah Vaughan and Nat 'King' Cole.

Even within Ireland, the Worlds were initially dominated by dance schools from Ulster, whose style had become well-known via television broadcasts in the late 1969s. However, following the commencement of the Troubles in Northern Ireland in 1969, the competitive Irish dancing structure in the region rapidly disintegrated, and with it, the success of Ulster dancers. From 1975 onwards, the national championships of Australia, North America, Ireland and Great Britain, which had until that point served as qualifying events for the Worlds, were supplemented by regional championships in each country – North America, for instance, was divided into seven regions, to increase the number of world qualifiers.

Sharon Watson became the seventh Artistic Director of Phoenix Dance Theatre in May 2009, continuing a relationship with the company that stretches over 20 years. She first joined Phoenix as a dancer under the stage name Chantal Donaldson from 1989 to 1997, during which time she choreographed the pieces Shaded Limits and Never Still for the company. She returned to Phoenix in 2000 as Rehearsal and Tour Director, following which she embarked upon a fellowship with the Clore Leadership Programme,"Clore Fellows: Sharon Watson" , Clore People, The Clore Leadership Programme. while continuing her freelance work mentoring emerging artists, lecturing in vocational dance schools and delivering bespoke training programmes. In 2008 Watson was one of 26 aspiring leaders from around the globe selected to attend Dance East’s fourth Rural Retreat, an intensive four- day think-tank exploring the challenges of the role of Artistic Directors in the 21st century.

Laws' fledgling career took a major blow in 1994 when she was interviewed by a reporter from The Wall Street Journal. The reporter revealed that she grew up in a middle-class neighborhood (on the West Side, near Eight Mile, Detroit), studied ballet and piano, and attended Catholic private school (where she was a cheerleader), before majoring in business for two years at Oakland University. These facts had all been discussed in the intro of the 1992 album on which Boss's mother described Boss as, "a young lady who was brought up through Catholic school for 12 years; and dance schools, tap dance, jazz, piano lessons and all of that; plus, you went to college for three years...." In the mid-1990s, she moved to Dallas, Texas, and went on to be a radio DJ. In 2001, she collaborated with Krayzie Bone on his album Thug On Da Line. Institute of Culture was an institution of vocational education established in the Soviet Union and still existing in some post-Soviet states, aimed at training of workers in various areas of culture and organization of leisure activities. The Soviet establishment paid considerable attention to planning of the organization of the activities of Soviet people in their spare time, to combat hard drinking, hooliganism and other crime, especially among younger generation. The phrase "cultural leisure" (культурный досуг) was among the Soviet cliches: supposedly the proper organization of the cultural leisure of the Soviet people was the major tool in combatting the "vestiges of capitalism" and the molding of the "New Soviet Man". Institutes of Culture were the institutions to train the professional "organizers of the cultural leisure", such as heads of hobby groups, of dance schools and collectives, folk dance and music ensembles, managers of various sections of Palaces of Culture, managers of "culture-educational work" in various schools, Young Pioneer camps, etc.

During its run in downtown Milwaukee, the Shamrock Club has had Dan Malloy, Mike O'Leary and Kristine Pluskota all as parade directors. Mike Boyle returned in 2009, assisted by daughters Erin Boyle and Meghan Boyle. In 2012 and 2013, the parade was directed by Mike Boyle and Denis Donohoe. Killian's Irish Red, a MillerCoors brand, was the lead sponsor in 2013 and 2014. In 2014, Josh Walton took over the parade. The parade was again led by Michael Boyle starting in 2015 and to the present. The Shamrock Club of Wisconsin's parade annually draws between 40,000 and 80,000 spectators, who brave all types of weather conditions to watch the parade in either perfect or less than perfect conditions. It is the largest St. Patrick's celebration in the state of Wisconsin. The parade typically features between 120-150 units which include the area's six Irish dance schools, numerous pipe and drum corps, as well as other community leaders and Irish groups.

Ideokinesis is an approach to improving posture, alignment, and fluency of movement through structured guided imagery that uses metaphors, such as visualizing an object moving in a specific direction along various muscle groups throughout the body, while lying completely still. Proponents claim that repeated practice of this particular formula of mental imagery translates to improved coordination in dance and in movement in general "based on the idea that imagery can improve skeletal alignment and posture through the re- patterning of neuromuscular pathways in the absence of overt movement". Although there is some evidence that rehearsal-style mental imagery may benefit performance in sports, there is currently insufficient data to draw conclusions on the effectiveness of metaphorical imagery as only personal and experimental research has been conducted on ideokinesis and there are reasons to believe it may be contraindicated as a relaxation technique. Ideokinesis was originally developed as a form of mental practice for injured dancers, but some dance schools have integrated it into a standard somatics protocol for all dancers because it is thought to optimize motor control and performance by using periods of rest constructively.
