"Kanariya" was written by Hamasaki herself, while production was handled by long-time collaborator Max Matsuura. Two versions of "Kanariya" were made available for consumption—a radio edit produced by disc jockey Jonathan Peters, and the album version composed by Yasuhiko Hoshino. Peters' remix of the track portrays a dance composition, a genre that heavily influenced Hamasaki's second studio album, Loveppears (1999). In this post, she choreographed the Chicago production of Run Li'l Chil'lun, performed at the Goodman Theater. Judson Dance Theater was an informal group of dancers who performed at the Judson Memorial Church in Greenwich Village, Manhattan New York City between 1962 and 1964. One of their performances involved Youngblood playing a rare and fragile queña made from the quill of a condor feather. Also in 2007, Bayard collaborated with composers Gavin Bowes and Wesley James Steck II on the premiere of Passage, a music and dance composition commissioned for the opening of the Benvenuti Performing Arts Center near Sacramento, California. Dance improvisation as a choreographic tool: Improvisation is used as a choreographic tool in dance composition. Experimenting with the concepts of shape, space, time, and energy while moving without inhibition or cognitive thinking can create unique and innovative movement designs, spatial configuration, dynamics, and unpredictable rhythms. Improvisation without inhibition allows the choreographer to connect to their deepest creative self, which in turn clears the way for pure invention. "Timebomb" received universal acclaim from most music critics. Robert Copsey from Digital Spy gave it a positive review, awarding four stars out of five. Copsey enjoyed how the dance composition was similar to Minogue's previous work, describing it as "back to basics", and concluding "In that time she has rarely strayed from the very centre of the dancefloor, so it's hardly surprisingly that 'Timebomb' feels like a gentle jog in the park for her". Prior to 2003, the school showcased official dance recitals, musical-theatre performances, and a dance troupe called Storm Front that performed during halftime of home football games—but all of these activities were extracurricular. In 2003, dance formally entered the Mercersburg curriculum, and the program came into its own in 2006 with the opening of the Burgin Center for the Arts and its two large, dedicated dance studios (the first in the school's history). The crux of the dance program today focuses on dance technique at various levels, including ballet, modern, jazz, tap, yoga, and strength training. Statue of Liao Tianding adjacent to Hanmin Temple Liao Tianding (; Hepburn: Ryō Tentei; 1883–1909) was a legendary Taiwanese Robin Hood figure who foiled oppressive rulers when Taiwan was under Japanese rule. He was born in the Upper Tōa-to͘ District () in , Taiwan Prefecture (Qing-dynasty Taiwan; modern- day Qingshui, Taichung, Taiwan) in 1883, and caught the attention of Japanese authorities repeatedly, for larceny and robbery, as well as the murder of Chen Liang-chiu (). Liao died in 1909, trapped in a cave in present-day Bali District, New Taipei City, with an accomplice, Yang Lin, who had colluded with the police. Liao Tianding was the subject of an extremely popular modern dance composition by Cloud Gate Dance Theater of Taiwan.

Perhaps the first major art work Sally Gross appeared in was the iconic Beat Generation 1959 film by Robert Frank and Alfred Leslie, Pull My Daisy, where she played the bishop's sister. She was one of the original participants in the choreography classes offered by musician Robert Dunn at Merce Cunningham's Studio starting in 1960, where he applied ideas from music composition, particularly the chance systems associated with John Cage, to dance composition. She continued to participate in Dunn's classes when they moved into the basement gym of Judson Memorial Church on Washington Square in Greenwich Village. Those sessions led directly into the formation of what became known as the Judson Dance Theater Workshop, founded on rigorously democratic and egalitarian principles that, especially with its rejection of super-technical achievements, was shocking to the establishment dance world of its day but is now regarded as a pivotal cross- disciplinary movement that advanced expanded definitions and tools for dance in particular and performance in general.
