Lone Star College–CyFair 2 The growth of the area prompted Lone Star College–CyFair to provide the area with programs which would support the rapidly changing workplace and world. The support of the business community was a key factor in the success of the petition to create the college and the workforce development programs reflect these needs including emergency services, health careers and nursing, technology and manufacturing.

CyFair Cobras, Houston Xperience and Louisiana Soul also were to compete as "branding teams" in the Fall season. None played an IBA game. In December 2014 Schenectady Legends captured their first IBA championship, defeating Kenosha 154-137. Albany High School graduate Lloyd "Pooh" Johnson score an IBA championship game record 61 points and was named the game MVP.

It then intersects US Route 290 in CyFair, joining it as they travel to the northwest, thus finishing a large routing around the southern and western portions of Houston. The route continues northwest with US 290 as a limited-access highway. At Hockley, the highway veers to the right, forking from an old alignment of the highway, and bypassing the cities of Waller and Hempstead to the north. At Hempstead, it splits from US 290 and turns northward into Grimes County, where it bypasses the city of Navasota, while Business SH 6 passes through town.

CyFair natural wetlands The Cy-Fair College campus not only works with the land, it rehabilitates the land. First, the majority of the previously cleared and over-grazed site was restored to its native flora and environment. The undulating hills and meadows are now covered in native grasses like Indiangrass, Little Bluestem, and Gulf Coast Muhly, as well as Coreopsis and Liatris wildflowers, and groves of over 3,200 native and indigenous prairie trees like Loblolly Pines, Bald Mexican Sycamores, and Live Oaks. Second, of lakes, ponds, and bayous replicate the Katy Prairie's natural wetlands system.

Lone Star College–CyFair 3 The county and the college collaborated to create a joint-use library to enhance services to the public and the college and to save tax dollars. This . blended library has resulted in extended hours, community meeting rooms, 200+ computers, a children's library, teen room, both tutoring and counseling for students and the public. Not only do the librarians teach research to college students, but also teach English as a Second Language classes, develop community programming using the vast academic resources of a college, teach computer workshops, and sponsor book clubs.

When Hines retired in 1994, he returned to his hometown to serve as Director of Health and Security at the Smithsonian Institution. Hines served as President of Prairie View A&M; University from 1994 until 2002, where he oversaw its role in the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) settlement that resulted in the Texas Commitment funding for four new buildings, additional master's and doctoral degree programs and dollars for development initiatives, student scholarships and endowed chairs. Hines began his career with Lone Star College–CyFair in 2008 as an Adjunct Faculty Student Advisor in Student Services. In 2010 he received the “Adjunct Excellence Award” for the 2009–10 academic year.

The two individuals most frequently credited for the creation of Cypress-Fairbanks Consolidated School District (CSD was changed to ISD in the early 1960s) were Trustee J. F. Bane, of the Fairbanks school system, and Superintendent E. A. Millsap (1932-1942), of the Cypress school system. Since 2006, Children at Risk, a non-profit organisation based in Houston, publishes its "Annual School Rankings" which ranks Houston metropolitan area schools using a formula going beyond the state’s school accountability system, using traditional indicators such as whether students passed state exams, drop-out and graduation rates along with less commonly used indicators such as counseling and poverty intervention. In 2012, Children at Risk evaluated and ranked 150 high schools in the greater Houston area and 8 CyFair-ISD high schools (out of a total of 10) appeared in the rankings. Additionally, Cypress Ridge High School ranked fifth among Greater Houston’s Best Urban, Comprehensive High Schools.
