Jazz Guitarist Jean "Toots" Theilemans was an early user and endorser of Rickenbacker guitars in the 1950s, using a Rickenbacker 400 while playing as part of the George Shearing Quintet; this inspired a young John Lennon, a fan of Toots, to buy a Rickenbacker himself while in Hamburg Germany in the early days of The Beatles. 200x200px 1958, the design was updated with the "cresting wave" body design, similar to the higher-end 620 model, the single pickup model had its pickup moved to a central position between the bridge and the neck and was redesignated the 420.

Diana Agrest and Mario Gandelsonas, two New York based architects, designed the landscape with grassy mounds and parabolic-shaped cutaways. These cutouts create walled-in spaces used to display the sculptures in groups of related artistic styles. The Pappajohn sculpture park was the capstone of the broad redevelopment project that revitalized downtown Des Moines. In the early 2000s, the west end of downtown Des Moines was in a dilapidated state, with auto repair shops, seedy businesses, and worn out and vacant buildings.

The video features the band and several girls and karaoke words on them with the rolling ball hitting them on the head as it is sung along. It also features cutaways to a projector slideshow with speech bubbles featuring the lyrics (even though some are just words that sound alike). The song was recently remixed by French artist Breakbot (on Ed Banger Records).

He later added a custom Gretsch Anniversary Jr. with two cutaways, a lever-activated mute system, a built-in and retractable bullet microphone, and a light-activated theremin next to the Bigsby.

Tony Rivers (born Douglas Anthony Thompson, 21 December 1940, Shildon, County Durham, England) is an English singer, best known for singing with the groups Tony Rivers and the Castaways and Harmony Grass. Additionally, Rivers sang on albums by Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, Roger Daltrey, Shakin' Stevens and Cliff Richard. Rivers went to Raine's Foundation School in Bethnal Green. After working at Butlins' Holiday Camp in Clacton, he joined a group called 'The Cutaways' and they became 'Tony Rivers and the Castaways'.

Series creator and executive producer Seth MacFarlane sided with the Writers Guild and participated in the strike until its conclusion. Because of this the seventh season consisted entirely of hold-overs. "Road to the Multiverse" was the first episode to be produced and aired after the strike ended. The season featured the series' 150th official episode, entitled "Brian & Stewie", which broke from the show's usual reliance on cutaways and cultural references and featured only Brian and Stewie trapped together in a vault.

One of the crews was entrusted to Avallone, who Freda had bonded over through their mutual love of horse racing. Avallone stated that he shot things like close-ups and cutaways to save time. Avallone mentioned that two versions of some sequences were shot: the original Italian, which was more suggestive and chaste, and another for foreign markets that was more risque, as Freda did not want to shoot the more explicit scenes. As of 2017, those versions have not been found.

Riefenstahl relies heavily for her transitions on portentous cutaways to clouds, mist, statuary, foliage, and rooftops. Her reaction shots have a tedious sameness: shining, ecstatic faces—nearly all young and Aryan, except for Hitler's". Pauline Kael, also a film reviewer employed for The New Yorker, called Triumph des Willens and Olympia, "the two greatest films ever directed by a woman". Writer Richard Corliss wrote in Time that he was "impressed by Riefenstahl's standing as a total auteur: producer, writer, director, editor and, in the fiction films, actress.

For editing of the commercial, Ledwidge looked to Richard Orrick, an editor he had collaborated with several times in the past. Several angles had been shot for each scene, as well as a number of cutaways establishing the era that the boy was travelling through. However, the brief for the commercial was specifically for a 122-second cut, one second for every year since the establishment of Hovis in 1886.

In Australia, The Early Show aired on Network 10 on weekday mornings from 4.00 a.m. under the title "The CBS Early Show", with the Friday edition being held over to the following Monday. A national weather map of Australia was inserted during local affiliate weather cutaways; however, no local news segments were inserted into the broadcast. Unlike the Seven Network's airing of NBC's Today and the Nine Network's airing of Good Morning America, The Early Show was not condensed or edited for broadcast by Ten.

Harrison played this guitar sporadically throughout the remainder of his life. On August 21, 1965, during a Beatles concert tour, Randy Resnick of B-Sharp, a Minnesota music store, presented Harrison with a second model 360/12 FG "New Style" 12-string electric guitar, distinguishable from Harrison's first 12-string by its rounded cutaways and edges. A television documentary produced by KSTP-TV in Minneapolis documents the event. Harrison used this guitar on the song "If I Needed Someone" and during the Beatles' 1966 tours.

He released Cutaways, an EP, on 29 September 2016 which consists of songs that did not make the cut for his debut album Paradise. His debut album was later released on 21 October 2016 and topped the No.1 spot on iTunes just under 24 hours after its release. He went on to release his second studio album From Me To You And Only You to celebrate the anniversary of his debut album. A year later, on 21 October 2018, he released an EP titled And I'm Only 21.

Lapses in the flow of action can be avoided by transition and cutaways devices (see below). Music and sound are often utilized to provide a sense of continuity to a scene or sequences that may contain a variety of unmatched shots taken in different locations. For example, in Rocky (1976), the song "Getting High" served as a continuity device during the highly fragmentary sequence showing Rocky in the various training preparations for his title fight. The song connected the numerous brief shots so that they appeared as a single and complete unit within the film.

Warren considers this version, in which Stephen ties Janice to a bed and threatens to cut off her nipples with scissors, "very unpleasant" and expresses his preference for the original. A number of cutaways were shot by Les Young's company, Crystal Film. Warren also wrote in several additional scenes; one of these, in which Catherine has a vision of a Puritan priest (played by McGillivray) overseeing the torture of a young woman, was filmed in the grounds of a nursing home. McGillivray also has a speaking role as the priest conducting Catherine's parents' funeral.

The music video was directed by duo Hammer & Tongs. It is filmed primarily (with cutaways to third party views) from the point of view of a collapsed cameraman in what appears to be an airport hangar. The cameraman collapses behind a car which then drives off to show the lead singer and the band forming to perform for the offset camera. The recording is interrupted by a little boy who, after being pulled out of the way of the camera abruptly, decides to run off with it and the band gives chase after him.

" He adds, Stephen King made the comment in a column for Entertainment Weekly, writing, "The Book of the Summer: That would be The Ruins, by Scott Smith, last heard from in 1993 (A Simple Plan, later filmed by Sam Raimi from Smith's script). No quietly building, Ruth Rendell-style suspense here; Smith intends to scare the bejabbers out of you, and succeeds. There are no chapters and no cutaways—The Ruins is your basic long scream of horror. It does for Mexican vacations what Jaws did for New England beaches in 1975.

A confessional is a stylistic device used in many reality television shows. It is a type of aside, consisting of cutaways to a close-up shot of one (or occasionally more) cast members talking directly to camera. Confessionals are used to provide narration, exposition, and commentary on ongoing action within the show. While confessionals are typically presented as an immediate reaction to events in the show (an illusion enforced by the use of the present tense), they are generally filmed later, sometimes much later, and often at another location.

A joke in the episode mocks Wes Anderson and his India-based film The Darjeeling Limited English playwright William Shakespeare is seen taking a walk in one of the cutaways, receiving homophobic abuse for wearing a ruff. In another, Peter competes in a "Tori Spelling Bee", spelling disparaging words about the actress. The wedding of Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow is seen in another cutaway, where the minister concludes the service by saying "I now pronounce you pretentious and terrible". Peter explains that he is speaking incoherently after drinking four Ensure health drinks.

The station was first licensed to begin broadcasting as KASZ on February 7, 1997. On May 23, 1997, the station changed its call sign to the current KASK. KASK was formerly owned and operated by The Doug Matthews Group in Las Cruces, New Mexico and ceased broadcasting in the early 1990s after a venture into independent television (KASK-TV) failed and forced the company into bankruptcy. The station's format during the 1970s and 1980s was Adult Contemporary and used a reel-to-reel automation system with live assist cutaways for news, weather, and sports.

Starting with the next season, the show switched to Toon Boom Harmony. The entirety of season seven contained episodes from the sixth production season, which was executive produced by MacFarlane, Danny Smith, David Goodman and Chris Sheridan, with Goodman and Sheridan serving as showrunners. The season included hold-over episodes from the sixth season, which was cut short due to the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike. It received a mixed reception from critics, the more-negative reviews criticizing the overuse of cutaways and the more positive praising its story-based episodes.

In film, an insert is a shot of part of a scene as filmed from a different angle and/or focal length from the master shot. Inserts cover action already covered in the master shot, but emphasize a different aspect of that action due to the different framing. An insert differs from a cutaway as cutaways cover action not covered in the master shot. There are more exact terms to use when the new, inserted shot is another view of actors: close-up, head shot, knee shot, two shot.

To incorporate the overall metal theme of the new album there are cutaways of sparks flying as metalwork is carried out, with mechanics and close-ups of booted-feet dancing to the music. The video was filmed entirely in a North London studio by British photographer and film director Terence Donovan, and filmed in one day on 29 September 1994. Donovan had taken several promotional photos of the band for merchandise and tours between 1994–1996 and was considered a very good friend of the band. They dedicated their next album Fresco (1997) to him following his untimely death.

The work also includes stylistically adventurous techniques, including the shooting of long shots through mirrors (again developing from work in L'amour fou), short cuts to black to punctuate otherwise continuous scenes, short cutaways to unrelated or seemingly meaningless shots, non-diegetic sound blocking out crucial parts of the dialogue, and even a conversation in which selected lines are re-edited so that they appear to be spoken backward. However, these experiments form a fairly small part of the work as a whole, which is generally conventional in style (aside from the length of takes and of the work as a whole).

The System 1 bridge can be replaced successfully with a Floyd Rose licensed bridge. The slightly wider pivot screw spacing of the System 1 bridge needs a Floyd Rose licensed bridge design with one pivot screw cutaway that extends to the edge of the bridge allowing the Floyd Rose licensed bridge to mount onto the System 1 pivot screws. This configuration is most common in a "Floyd Rose Gotoh" bridge. Most Floyd Rose bridge designs have two pivot screw cutaways that are limited to the width of the pivot screws, and these will not fit the System 1 pivot screw spacing.

But so far, the Stewie recently seen in "Trading Places", the follow-up episode, he still seems to have his mostly harmless eccentricity, shown when he asks Brian if he wants to trade places with him for fun. He also starts to interact with more people despite still having hatred towards many of them, as shown in cutaways in later episodes, and more flamboyant. Stewie is shown in more recent episodes to be a superfan of Taylor Swift, and even sets her up with Chris as a prom date. Stewie has had a few rare interactions with his pedophile neighbor Herbert.

In December 2010, a new agency - Yuma County Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority (YCIPTA) was formed to assume the operation of transit services from YMPO, which was completed on July 1, 2012. A new service delivery model was implemented on January 9, 2012, with a complete restructure of all routes to improve efficiency. Today, a total of 9 routes now operate Monday through Saturday on a fleet of 17 YCAT fixed route buses and 11 cutaways and vans. Both demand-response and fixed- route service is administered and funded by the YCIPTA and its member agencies, and operated by a private contractor.

The design of the G-400 follows that of the Gibson SG. Features include dual pointed cutaways, smaller pickguard (but in some cases, such as the 1966 model or any limited edition model, there is still a large pickguard), set neck, trapezoidal fingerboard inlays (late 80s and early 90s models had dot inlays), dual humbucker pickups, and beveled mahogany body. The biggest visual differences from the Gibson SG are the Epiphone headstock and wood-bound neck. The standard G-400, not limited edition, is available in two finishes: ebony and cherry. The Faded G-400 comes in worn brown and worn cherry.

Factory, Corman stated he and Peeters had discussed his expectations of the film regarding B-movie exploitation – this being to fulfill Corman's maxim that monsters "kill all the men and rape all the women". In post-production, Corman said Peeters had done an outstanding job in filming the death scenes involving male characters, but all of the rape scenes had been left "shadowy" or used cutaways before the attacks occurred. Portions of the film were directed by an uncredited Murakami, who directed the Corman- produced sci-fi cult classic Battle Beyond the Stars the same year. The film's budget was $2.5 million.

The music video for "Energy" was directed by Melina Matsoukas and produced by Wohn Winter. Set primarily in a boxing ring, Hilson plays a boxer whose love interest (played by Christian Keyes) is her apparent trainer. Hilson explains that her character continually tries to sort their broken relationship, but by the end of the video, she realizes that it's just not working. Throughout the video, there are cutaways in which Hilson argues with her boyfriend in their apartment, Hilson working out, having recently worked out and now in locker room, singing against a wall, and singing in a hallway.

As well as the more common lower cutaway, many instruments have an upper cutaway, sometimes smaller than the lower one, or sometimes about the same size. This is mainly seen on electric guitars, as the reduction in body size resulting from a double cutaway would be detrimental to the sound quality of an acoustic guitar. Double cutaways allow the thumb as well as the fingers to move past the neck-body join. In addition, the strap button on double cutaway guitars is typically positioned on the end of the upper horn, further up the neck than on guitars without a cutaway.

This improves the instrument's balance when played with a strap. A double cutaway also facilitates left-handed use of right-handed instruments. In some Gibson guitars, models with two cutaways are abbreviated with a "DC" after the name, such as in the Les Paul Studio DC, the Les Paul Standard DC, the Les Paul Special DC, and the Les Paul Junior DC. Since more single cut versions of these guitars are produced than the doublecut versions, if the model name of these guitars is not followed by "DC", "double cut", or "double cutaway", the assumed reference is to the single cutaway models.

Portugal also has a substantial amount of quiz programmes, especially on terrestrial channels (including public RTP), however in the daytime they are disguised as pimba-themed talk shows, with blatant phone-in cutaways and quiz participation. Due to a number of incidents where the fairness of quiz channels and shows came to the attention of the media and regulators in the UK, a number of broadcasters have switched to other types of participation television, focusing primarily on roulette but also bingo and other casino games as well as branching out into other forms of participation television, such as televised sex lines.

The video was directed by Nick Morris and shot entirely in black and white at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nevada. It opens with Money alone with a metal ladder and a folding chair on an otherwise empty stage. He sings and plays an alto saxophone to an absent audience, while Ronnie Spector is seen in a make-up room and then walking through a backstage hallway to the arena floor during cutaways. Spector's face is not completely revealed until about three-quarters of the way through the video, when she joins Money on the stage.

One unusual daytime program, Daywatch, consisted of a camera focused on a teletypewriter printing wire service news stories, interspersed with cutaways to mechanical toys against a light music soundtrack. Another early series by the station was Stairway to Stardom (1950–1951), one of the first TV series with an African-American host. WATV's transmitter was moved to the Empire State Building in November 1953. On October 6, 1957, Bremer Broadcasting announced it had sold its stations for $3.5 million to National Telefilm Associates (NTA), an early distributor of motion pictures for television, joining its NTA Film Network.

He also commented: "I'm starting to wonder if this show is even watchable anymore – 18 minutes of filler, 45 seconds of inspired silliness." The Parents Television Council, a frequent critic of Family Guy, named "Stew-Roids" its "Worst TV Show of the Week" for the week ending August 28, 2009; the review was based on a repeat airing. The PTC's review cited the episode's crude jokes, "tiresome pop culture cutaways" and "its conceit that its content is original." The latter referred to the plotline about Chris' sudden popularity at school and having a swelled ego as a result.

Reviews for "The Son Also Draws" were mixed to favorable. In a 2008 review, Ahsan Haque of IGN rated the episode an 8/10, stating that while the episode is not an "instant classic", it is "still quite strong" and has "more than a few clever moments". He also notes that the cutaways are "kept to a minimum", and much of the humor comes from the storyline. He commented that the episode did not have as many laugh- out-loud moments as other episodes, but stated that it had bolder humor than the show would later be known for.

The Earth Day Special is a television special revolving around Earth Day that aired on ABC on April 22, 1990. Sponsored by Time Warner, the two-hour special featured an ensemble cast addressing concerns about pollution, deforestation, and other environmental ills. Several cutaways are made to famous fictional characters watching events unfold, and discussing what can be done to save the planet. This special was one of Jim Henson's final performances as Kermit the Frog prior to his death later that year, as well as one of Jeff Bergman's first as Bugs Bunny following the death of Mel Blanc the year prior.

", The Simpsons episode "Flaming Moe", and the Bob's Burgers episode "Crawl Space". In a slightly more positive review of the episode, Jason Hughes of TV Squad praised the episode for some of its "silly side jokes," but felt disappointed by the ending to the show, commenting, "it didn't follow any real logic It was an easy way out, as if they'd written themselves into a corner." Hughes also criticized the episode for its dependence on cutaway gags, writing, "at least there were some funnier moments in this one. Unfortunately, a lot of those came in the cutaways.

The idea was reworked due to being too long and complicated, taking an estimated three minutes longer to tell. To achieve the highly formal environment, the filmmakers looked at the Royal Opera House in London, the Paris Opera House and classic vaudeville theaters like the Geary in San Francisco—which the crew took a tour through—for set design ideas. Animating the theater's audience of 2,500 patrons proved an expensive proposition, even with the help of the crowd-generating MASSIVE software. Early suggestions were to show cutaways of just a small portion of the audience, but the full effect was achieved by only showing the back of the audience.

A critic for The A.V. Club once remarked that it "usually adopts the manic pacing of a live-action cartoon." The show was influential in its extensive use of cutaways: sudden, short cuts to unrelated scenes showing something the characters are briefly discussing. 30 Rock also became known for its dedication to making sets extremely elaborate, once showing a set that took three days to build for only six seconds of video. 30 Rock won several major awards (including Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2007, 2008, and 2009 and nominations for every other year it ran), and appeared on many critics' year-end "best of" 2006–2013 lists.

Raja Paarvai was released on 10 April 1981. The film received critical acclaim, but was a box office failure, and Haasan had to work seven to eight years to recover from the loss he faced through this film. Nevertheless, his performance earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Actor, and over time, the film has attained cult status. Encyclopaedia of Indian Cinema by Ashish Rajadhyaksha and Rajadhyaksha Willemen described Srinivasa Rao's direction and Haasan's performance as "unabashedly melodramatic, milking the hero's disability for all its worth" and that Srinivasa Rao's zooms and cutaways underlined by "rapid and awkward editing" were "fully in evidence".

Shred guitar players often use electric solid-body guitars such as Ibanez, Gibson, Fender, Kramer, Kiesel/Carvin, Jackson, Charvel, Schecter and ESP. Some shred guitarists use elaborately-shaped models by B.C. Rich or Dean, as well as modern versions of classic-radical designs like Gibson's Flying V and Explorer models. Tremolo bars (also known as "whammy bars"), which are hinged bridges that can be bent down or up in pitch, are an important part of shred playing, as they permit the "dive bombing" effect and many sounds which are not possible with a fixed-bridge instrument. Guitars with double-cutaways give performers easier access to the higher frets.

Gray (1930), 22-23 The conventions of Persian miniatures changed slowly; faces are normally youthful and seen in three-quarters view, with a plump rounded lower face better suited to portraying typical Central Asian or Chinese features than those of most Persians. Lighting is even, without shadows or chiaroscuro. Walls and other surfaces are shown either frontally, or as at (to modern eyes) an angle of about 45 degrees, often giving the modern viewer the unintended impression that a building is (say) hexagonal in plan. Buildings are often shown in complex views, mixing interior views through windows or "cutaways" with exterior views of other parts of a facade.

" He ultimately gave the episode a C rating, the second best rating of the night, beating The Cleveland Show episode "How Cleveland Got His Groove Back" and tying with the American Dad! episode "Son of Stan". In a slightly more neutral review of the episode, Jason Hughes of TV Squad praised the episode's cutaways, stating that they "came back with a vengeance this week." Hughes went on to comment negatively on the scene involving Carter being woken up and hinting at incest with his daughter, noting, "It's weird that while the pedophile character of Herbert doesn't bother me at all, this potential admission really does.

This was to be the first of many Jett/Laguna collaborations, as they were inseparable from that moment in 1979 to the present day. Two videos were shot for "Little Liar", the first, a concept video, feature a slightly confusing storyline with two Joans (one in white, one in black) interacting. After seeing the result of the first Little Liar video, Jett was unhappy with the silliness and visual translation so immediately shot a new live video (synced with the studio version of the song) for this track. The new video captured a more authentic feel with raw live shots combined with cutaways and studio shot closeups of Joan.

Because there is no space above the scanner room set, Quarshie jumped off a box into the shot, while cutaways were used to show his character seemingly jumping down from the ceiling to the floor of the room. Barrett admitted that he had wanted to film a crossover since he joined Holby City. He spent two weeks in Cardiff filming his scenes and he was amazed at how the team put the car crash stunt together, as Holby City does not often film large stunts. Mealing wanted to do more crossovers on the same scale, but realised that it would be difficult because of the scheduling of both shows.

On July 1, 2013, Here and Now began broadcasting as a two-hour program with a "full rollover" (meaning the show broadcasts from noon to 4 p.m. ET) airing Monday to Friday and generally in the midday hours on its affiliate stations. The show covers U.S. and international news, and provides arts and culture coverage. Here and Now has three cutaways for newscasts: one from :04:00 to :06:00 past the hour, occupying a portion of the national five- minute newscast from NPR, and two one-minute summaries of national news headlines at 0:18:00 and 0:38:00 past the hour, produced and anchored in-house at WBUR.

In June 2009, Robert Canning of IGN gave the episode a score of 9.8 out of 10 and said it was "a fantastic episode that told an engaging story and was laugh-out-loud funny from start to finish. [...] There was a fun, engaging story, great guest stars poking fun at themselves, flashbacks, songs, cutaways and opportunities to highlight characters outside the series' namesake family." In January 2010, Michael Moran of The Times ranked the episode as the second best in the show's history. Warren Martyn and Adrian Wood, the authors of the book I Can't Believe It's a Bigger and Better Updated Unofficial Simpsons Guide, enjoyed the episode.

For example, a shot of a zombie getting its head cut off may, for instance, start with a view of an axe being swung through the air, followed by a close-up of the actor swinging it, then followed by a cut back to the now severed head. George A. Romero, creator of the Dead Series, and Tom Savini pioneered effects that removed the need for cutaways in horror films. 30 Rock would often use cutaway scenes to create visual humor, the Werewolf Bar Mitzvah scene taking three days to create for only five seconds of screen time. The animated television show Family Guy is best known for the use of cutaway gags as humor.

The earliest international versions were what then-CTW vice- president Charlotte Cole called "fairly simple", consisting of dubbed versions of the show with local language voice-overs and instructional cutaways. Dubbed versions of the show continued to be produced if the country's needs and resources warranted it. They utilized a variant of a flexible model called the CTW model, developed by the producers and creators of the original show, to create and produce independently produced preschool television shows in other countries. The Workshop recognized that the production model developed in the U.S., which reflected its needs and culture at the time, served as a framework for other countries that wanted to repeat it.

Now only wearing his boots, socks, red shorts with a fake bear tail and his bear ears, the man continues singing and dancing, repeating the chorus: "Good luck gays on Gay Mountain". As the song progresses, more and more members of the audience get up and dance to the music and silver foil confetti rains from the ceiling. Among the cutaways to the audience, a young woman is seen happily dancing on her own, a male couple kiss and a topless DJ wearing sunglasses - who commentators have noted bears some resemblance to Russian President Vladimir Putin \- is also dancing along to the music. Throughout, the lyrics of the song appear as Karaoke-style subtitles.

When Brian approaches Stewie about helping him find a tennis ball he had buried, Stewie asks if Brian remembers the date that he lost it. Brian tells him that he buried it on January 31, 1999 (the day of the series' premiere on Fox). Using Stewie's time machine to travel back to that date, the two soon come upon the Griffin family, but notice that their past looks more strange than they remembered it: the family continually pauses for cutaways, and Meg's voice sounds different. Stewie also points out that this may be his first memory and that is the day Peter made his eye go over his nose (an animation glitch that actually occurred in the pilot).

Kevin McFarland of The A.V. Club gave the episode a B, saying: "′3 Acts of God′ certainly has its moments where it touches the third rail and feels like Family Guy giving into its worst tendencies. Those brief scenes in Jerusalem and India specifically feel unnecessarily mean, as well as the final joke of what else Peter asked God about besides the Patriots. But more cutaways landed than many of the episodes I reviewed over the last two seasons, which made for a surprisingly pleasant visit back to Seth MacFarlane's main gig." The episode received a 2.3 rating in the 18–49 years old demographic and was watched by a total of 4.62 million people.

Animator Craig Bartlett graduated from Anacortes High School and obtained a degree in communications from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. During high school and college, he studied painting and sculpture at the Museum Art School in Portland, and his first job after college was at Will Vinton Productions, a claymation studio. Originally, Bartlett intended to become a painter "in the 19th-century sense", but he became interested in animation during a trip to Italy. In 1987, while working on Pee-wee's Playhouse, he created claymation cutaways about a character named Penny and her friend Arnold, and made three "Arnold" shorts: Arnold Escapes from Church (1988), The Arnold Waltz (1990) and Arnold Rides His Chair (1991) which years later, were given the nickname "Clay Arnold ".

The main batch could also be distinguished by their higher running plates along the sides of the boiler, compared to the lower version on the rebuild that required larger wheel splashers to cover the tops of the driving wheels. The main batch had also dispensed with the N class/Midland Railway-style double spectacle plates (the small windows on the front face of the cab) that was retained on the prototype, replacing them with one each side of the boiler. The production locomotives also had a flatter top to the dome covers than that seen on the rebuild. The cabside cutaways for driver visibility were also cut into the roof of A890, an arrangement reminiscent of the 2-cylinder U class rebuilds of K class locomotives.

DAAS Kapital was a sitcom that incorporated sketch show and variety show TV formats. For example, in each scripted episode, there would be cutaways to television shows and commercials—typically Shitsu Tonka News, Troy The Invincible and Wayne Kerr—along with guest appearances by Paul Livingston, Bob, Bob Downe and stop-motion animation sequences, along with original songs performed by the Doug Anthony All Stars. Ferguson described the show as "a cross between Land of Giants, Marine Boy and Jacques Cousteau on speed." Each episode's plot usually consisted of a very simple idea, such as a bug infestation on board or a Cinderella-style story mixed with all the above segments strung together with very quick jokes, narrative humour and stories told by the All Stars.

Many of the early co-productions were simple, dubbed versions with local language voice-overs and instructional cutaways, but the GCC wanted to create their own original version. They established the Joint Program Production Institute (JPPI) to work with the CTW to create a Sesame Street co-production in addition to creating several children's TV shows. The JPPI formed a team, which visited the CTW in New York to negotiate the production of 130 30-minute programs,Al-Khayr & Al-Samira'i, p. 464 purchasing the rights to create an Arab version for US$2.5 million, and bringing in experts from throughout the Arab world "to introduce an all encompassing Arabic curriculum that would teach and cultivate Arab values and culture".

The music video, directed by Nathanial Hörnblowér, simply has the Beastie Boys recite the song in a woodland, addressing the viewer by looking down at the camera which is at ground level, with clips of DJ Hurricane and Money Mark interspersed throughout. It was one of the first music videos to feature slow motion action while the artists' lips remained in sync with the sound track, an effect that would later become a mainstay of music videos. The sky has a photo negative effect which was created by visualist Ash Beck, a direct allusion to the werewolf point-of-view in 1981 horror film Wolfen. Similarly, the infrared style incorporated during the band cutaways are a homage to the hunter vision in Predator.

The Rickenbacker model numbering system includes many variables such as scale length, number of pickups and deluxe features such as binding and inlay. In addition to the model numbers (310, etc.), a 5 added to the model number signifies the addition of a vibrato, a 10 an additional pickup, and a 1 special features (such as the 331 "Light Show" guitar with internal multicolored lights and translucent plastic top). There are three main groups in the 300 series: The 310 group instruments (310 to 325) feature a 20-3/4" short scale, dot fretboard inlays, and small (12-3/4" wide) bodies. The body is unbound, semi-hollow (though lacking a sound hole), and boasts the "crescent moon"-style cutaways.

It turns out that this was only Peter's imagination as he snaps out of it when Joe starts talking to him; Peter answers that he was having a Scrubs fantasy moment. Quagmire responds to Peter's moment by stating that Scrubs is the best show people are not watching. Cleveland replies that he hates shows that leave the story for a gag or joke, referring to the numerous cutaways Scrubs and Family Guy contain. While in the hospital Peter realizes that Mr. Pewterschmidt and Dr. Hartman have a similar voice, then Mr. Pewterschmidt comes into the room and they both start talking about how their voices sound alike; this is a reference to the show's creator Seth MacFarlane as he voices both characters.

The most common use of cutaway shots in dramatic films is to adjust the pace of the main action, to conceal the deletion of some unwanted part of the main shot, or to allow the joining of parts of two versions of that shot. For example, a scene may be improved by cutting a few frames out of an actor's pause; a brief view of a listener can help conceal the break. Or the actor may fumble some of his lines in a group shot; rather than discarding a good version of the shot, the director may just have the actor repeat the lines for a new shot, and cut to that alternate view when necessary. Cutaways are also used often in older horror films in place of special effects.

After the pre-production prototypes were perfected, the first production Ibanez JEM 777 guitars were unveiled at the NAMM Show in 1987. Since its original 1987 release, the JEM has become one of the longest-running and most successful signature series guitars in history, with its sister guitar, the Ibanez RG, being the second highest-selling guitar (behind the Fender Stratocaster) on the market. Another design by Vai was the Ibanez Universe, the first production seven-string guitar, which was released in 1989. The Universe incorporated many of the aspects that made the JEM a unique instrument (2 octave fretboard, full floating tremolo, humbucker/single coil/humbucker pickup configuration, angled output jack and deeper body cutaways), with an added low 'B' string, allowing for new low-range sonic possibilities.

Liv and Maddie, also known as Liv and Maddie: Cali Style for the fourth season, is an American comedy television series created by John D. Beck and Ron Hart that aired on Disney Channel from July 19, 2013 to March 24, 2017. The series stars Dove Cameron, Joey Bragg, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Kali Rocha, Benjamin King, and Lauren Lindsey Donzis. A significant feature of the series is that Dove Cameron plays dual roles, one being Liv, an actress who has returned to her home after starring on a popular television series in Hollywood for four years, and the other one being Maddie, Liv's identical twin who remained behind. Another significant feature of the series are documentary-style cutaways where characters speak to the viewers to explain their opinions on various situations in each episode.

Eric Thurm of The A.V. Club gave the episode a B-, saying "Unfortunately, the focus on Stewie is also a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand, it means that 'Chap Stewie' is one of the tightest episodes in recent Family Guy memory, rarely wandering off on tangents and delivering cutaways gags that are linked to the main story. On the other, the spotlight on Stewie means Brian is absent from the bulk of the episode, the main place 'Chap Stewie' fails in comparison to the earlier Family Guy stories it's trading on—without Brian to bounce off, Stewie’s more emotional stories don't work quite as well." The episode received a 2.0 rating in the 18–49 years old demographic and was watched by a total of 3.88 million people.

The script alterations, as well as the trio's recollections of past ventures, are portrayed in short skits and interspersed scenes with the restaurant setting throughout. Many of these cutaway scenes feature the bickering, and at times outrageously violent, cop duo Hines (David Faustino) and Sterns (Joe Estevez), who are trying to find the killer ump. Cutaways also feature appearances by Edward Asner as a prospective investor not impressed with James' proposal, Erin Moran as a women's apparel store owner, who is not impressed with James' merchandising plan, Robert Z'Dar as an actor auditioning for the role of the killer, and Lloyd Kaufman as a victim from a previous feature from the trio. In the restaurant, waitress and struggling actress Holly (Lindsay Gareth), at the urging of her pushy fellow waitress friend Kari (Erin Muir), tries repeatedly to get the trio's attention to cast her in one of their projects.

VH-1 participated in the development of the promotional video for "Still Crusin'" to help promote a Chevrolet Corvette giveaway for their then-young cable channel. The video included four members of the Beach Boys singing the song at a concert with cutaways to several versions of the Corvette. Although Brian Wilson did not participate in the recording of "Still Crusin'", he did make a brief cameo appearance in the video: driving in his Corvette in silhouette during part of the intro, and during the lyrics "...paradise by the sea...", Brian is sitting on the oceanside and turns to the camera. These shots, alongside additional shots of Brian in his house playing the keyboard, were also intended to be part of a music video for "In My Car", also from the same album and also intended for Chevrolet promotion, which was ultimately scrapped for "Still Cruisin'".

In the Southern Hemisphere, in the Commonwealth of Australia, a trimmed version (for 70 minutes excluding commercials) of the CBS This Morning weekday edition currently airs on CBS's sister network (since November 2017) Network 10, along with regional affiliate WIN Television, on Tuesday - Friday mornings from 6:30 am until 8:00 am AEST . A national weather map of Australia is inserted during local affiliate station's cutaways for weather reports and forecasts. Commercial advertising is inserted instead of the usual cutaway to the local news programming , however, near-simultaneously with the other US's major "Big Three" television networks' breakfast / morning television programs, along with ABC-TV's longtime Good Morning America (broadcasting in U.S.A. since 1976) on the Nine Network from 3:30 a.m. and the NBC's Today longtime morning news/features show (since 1952, of NBC) airing on the Seven Network from 4:00 a.m.

Boffin continued, in the immediate postwar period, to carry some of its wartime connotation, as a modern-day wizard who labours in secret to create incomprehensible devices of great power. For example, the comics of the period depicted them as developing imaginative machines.Ed. Daniel TatarskyEagle Annual of the Cutaways, Orion Books,2009 However, their more nuanced wartime role was not reflected in popular culture, such as the 1951 Festival of Britain and the term was even used in the UK parliament (1953) to refer to boffins as narrow academics. The image of the technical boffin-hero was popularised by Nevil Shute's novel No Highway (1948), PaulBrickhill's non- fiction book The Dambusters (1951) and Shute's autobiography Slide Rule (1954). Films of The Small Back Room (1948), No Highway (1951, as No Highway in the Sky), and The Dambusters (1954) also featured boffins as heroes, as did stand-alone films such as The Man in the White Suit (1951) and The Sound Barrier (1952).

" Inside was deemed an "excellently paced suspense movie" by Kevin Carr of Film School Rejects while Adrian Halen of Horror News praised it as "an amazing film" that "no self- respecting horror fan should go without seeing." Sarah Gopaul of Popjournalism found Inside to be "a gut-wrenching exhibition of intensity and gore, propelled by strong performances from Dalle and Paradis." Steve Dollar of The New York Sun opined that the "darkly stylish and shockingly violent" film was the "essence of grindhouse" and "one of the most edge-of-the-seat, fingers- over-the-eyes flicks in recent memory." While Scott Tobias of The A.V. Club admitted that Inside was "a superb piece of horror craftsmanship" that was stylish, intense, and nerve-jangling, he heavily criticized its frequent cutaways to the protagonist's in utero child, writing, "Where Inside crosses the line is a visual device that periodically checks the baby's status as it sloshes around the uterus, like a CGI ultrasound.

There's plenty of driving and waiting, while most shots linger on a few seconds longer than they should to inch Massage Parlor Murders to feature- length status. Helping to fill out the fun are a few unique visions, including a visit to a private pool filled with swingers out to celebrate the sexual revolution while soaked in chlorine and wayward bodily fluids. The detour into wet flesh and balloon close-ups (the film is at least 25% random cutaways) is meant to tie into O'Mara and Gwen's passionate union, but the concept never quite sticks, instead coming across as easy access to even more nudity in a picture that's already loaded with sin. For action enthusiasts, there's a car chase wedged in here to pump up heart rates, watching O'Mara (clad only in a gym towel) chase a suspect through NYC streets, smashing through a vegetable stand to add some punctuation to an otherwise routine display of spinning and squealing automobiles.

The double feature music video starts off with Del Rey turning on a jukebox. She then performs "Fuck It I Love You" in front of a neon- gradient on a small stage in a dive bar, reminiscent of one of her most famous scenes in the video for "Ride" (2012). As she performs, the main cutaways show her painting a canvas on a boat with side braids (referencing the album's cover) before clips show her surfing in the sea with an aurora borealis in the sky. Throughout, numerous other clips play including one with an old-fashion television is shown playing clips of Del Rey and model Brad Swanick surfing in a classic 1960s film style, shots of Del Rey and her back-up dancers/singers Alex Kaye and Ashley Rodriguez (who also appear in the videos for "Mariners Apartment Complex" and "Lust for Life") as they skateboard down the street, and shots of a teary-eyed Del Rey sitting on the sand as she mouths the lyrics directly to the camera.

These instruments have hollow bodies with rounded top edges and binding on the back edges, stereo "Rick-O-Sound" output in addition to standard mono output, and large triangular fretboard inlays made from crushed pearl. There are two body styles for these models: the earlier or "old style" which was produced from its introduction to approximately 1964, and the new style, with rounded top edges. The original style shared the body style of the 330, with sharp edges and cutaways, distinguishable only by the front, back and neck binding and triangle inlays. For examples of the different styles, one could see George Harrison of The Beatles, who used an old style 360/12 (which was actually the second of three prototypes) in the movie and on the album A Hard Day's Night, while Roger McGuinn of The Byrds used a new style 360/12 with a factory-added third pickup and onboard compressor. NY1 Rail and Road is a 24-hour cable news channel focusing exclusively on the vehicular traffic and mass transit conditions within the five boroughs of New York City. Owned by Charter Communications through its acquisition of Time Warner Cable in May 2016, the channel is a spin-off from its parent station NY1's popular report of the same name that is available to New York City Spectrum subscribers on channel 214, and on channel 91 in New Jersey and Hudson Valley. NY1 Rail and Road updates every five minutes and has feeds for four different zones (Manhattan and Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Hudson Valley.)NY1 Station History NY1 The station airs a constant floating digital aerial map of New York City with a short anchor segment every half- hour, along with periodic cutaways indicating mass transit service changes. The digital map (with data provided by INRIX) highlights major streets which are color-coded according to the speed of traffic with INRIX's common coding, with black, indicating a completely jammed or closed road, red indicating traffic flow of less than 25 miles per hour (dark red if around less than 15 mph), yellow 25-50 mph flow, and green little to no traffic.
