It was established in 1971 by Eugenie Cheesmond and Rowdy Yates, and with support from the Bishop of Manchester and the 8th Day Collective. Cheesmond had crossed swords with the Board at Parkside Hospital in Macclesfield about rehabilitation for drug users when she was their Registrar Psychiatrist. Yates, was an ex-addict and had been helped by Cheesmond.

As the name suggests, the walk forms a circuit around the towns of Crewe and Nantwich. It is one of two circular walks in the county of Cheshire, the other being the Vale Royal Round. The walk is waymarked with a circle with symbols of a leaf, cartwheel and crossed swords.

The Ethiopian Purple Heart is a medal of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia similar to U.S. Purple Heart, which is given to military personnel wounded during a war action. The medal is heart-shaped; in the center of the heart there are two crossed swords on a red background. Above the heart there is a suspension bar with the inscription "wounded in action" in Amharic language on a green background. The ribbon of the medal is red.
Wilhelm Ernst Peekhaus of Berlin submitted the design of the badge, which consisted of a central laurel wreath with a stylized submarine and wings of oak leaves. Plaques, 2014 The sandstone monument is located near the front entrance gate of the Sherwood Anglican Cemetery, facing east. It stands high, and consists of a pedestal on a stepped sandstone base, rising to an obelisk draped by a tasselled shroud. They are assisted by All Arm Physical Training Instructors (AAPTIs), previously known as Assistant Physical Training Instructors (APTIs), who have other jobs within their unit as well as being qualified, but not specialist, physical training instructors. The PTI badge consists of crossed swords. Durate Barbosa, in the early 16th century, mentions the Cheraman sword among the three swords and other royal emblems of the Samoothiri usually taken out in ceremonial processions.
West at this time crossed swords in pamphleteering with Henry Sacheverell, whose The character of a Low-Church-man was a reply to West, at the period when High Church and latitudinarian (Latitude-men) were emerging concepts. Sacheverell wrote of latitude that it allowed interpretation of each of the 39 Articles in 39 ways. West came back implying that the Oxford High Church side objecting to that latitude were Calvinists. In January 1710 the Winchester MPs Lord William Powlett and George Rodney Brydges together organised support in Parliament, to thank West for a sermon in which he had stated that in the English Civil War the faults were on both sides.historyofparliamentonline.
Officers' issue Other ranks' issue The Port Arthur Cross or Cross for the Defence of Port Arthur (Russian - Крест «За Порт-Артур») was a medal awarded by the Russian Empire. It was instituted on 14 January 1914 to mark the tenth anniversary of the siege of Port Arthur. It was awarded in silver to officers and in bronze to the other ranks. The ends of the cross are broad in the manner of a St George Cross, with crossed swords in the centre with their points upwards, with a black battleship silhouette on a white enamel background at the centre on the silver issue and engraved on the bronze issue.

The East Timorese rebellion of 1911–12, sometimes called the Great Rebellion or Rebellion of Manufahi, was a response to the efforts of Portuguese colonial authorities to collect a head tax and enforce the corvée, part of their larger effort to encourage cash crop agriculture and construct modern infrastructure. The countrywide conflict of 1911–12 was the culmination of a series of revolts led by Dom Boaventura, the liurai (chief) of the native kingdom of Manufahi. The first lasted from 1894 to 1901, the second from 1907 to 1908.
The majority of the cover is a picture of a Viking-like ship sailing in the foreground and towards the back, dozens of docked, burning ships. Beyond them a line of flame-assaulted buildings can be seen. This is a portrayal of one of the final scenes in the story, in which the villain Thorne has set the docks of England ablaze. While most versions of the book have a picture of a skull with two hammers crossed behind it (as well as a raven and an hourglass above each hammer) many online pictures show instead two crossed swords, creating the symbol seen on the cover of Isle of Swords.

Incorporated was the tower of the church at Twickenham, a surviving medieval building in the town The Twickenham Urban District Council was granted a coat of arms by the College of Arms in 1913. The name "Twickenham" means two ways (roads) settlement or two-farm settlement, and the main device on the shield was a green pall or Y-shaped figure to illustrate the first reading which also resembles the arms of Diocese of Canterbury, which had historical links with the area. At the top of the shield was an antique lamp for literature, arts and sciences. At the dexter side were crossed swords, the emblem of the arms of the Diocese of London.
The emphasis on ancient Egyptian culture can be traced to the use of the scarab beetle. It has had a place in most of the group's history. CGI was founded in 1978 by four former members of the Worldwide Church of God, including evangelist Garner Ted Armstrong (1930-2003)"Garner Ted Armstrong", National Obituary Archive after his father, Herbert W. Armstrong, excommunicated him from the WCG and fired him from all roles in the church over disagreements about operations and certain doctrinal positions. CGI established its headquarters in Tyler, Texas, and also founded the Garner Ted Armstrong Evangelistic Association. It is based on a wall hanging Garner Ted assembled from a suit of armor presented to him as a gift from his father.

The initial design was based on the Polish Virtuti Militari with an addition of crossed swords, but no such crosses were actually produced. At the time of the Polish–Lithuanian War, the design was criticized for following Polish traditions. On 26 November 1919, the design was changed to the Cross of the Jagiellons, one of the varieties of the Cross of Lorraine found on the Coat of arms of Lithuania.

The Efficiency Medal is awarded to officers and other ranks of the Guyana Defence Force, the Guyana People's Militia and the Guyana National Service who complete ten years of efficient service. The Military Efficiency Medal is awarded to serving members of the GDF, who would have completed 10 years of continuous service with good conduct, and are approved by the Chief of Staff, following recommendations by the Medal Awards Committee. On the obverse of the Medal is the Cacique's Crown (an Amerindian head dress) in the centre, which is encircled by the inscription of Guyana's motto, ”One People, One Nation, One Destiny Guyana” while the reverse has two crossed swords and the words ‘Military Efficiency Medal’ inscribed.
This memorial is a column of rough cut, rusticated grey granite supported on a red-white marble plinth and bracketed by three white marble fins each supported by triple columns on attached bases. The column is finished with a projecting abacus of granite, and is supported on a concrete stylobate of two steps, surfaced in red granite chips. White marble tablets are fixed to the column between the fins, and high on the column's four faces are inset circular bronze plaques, each sheltered by a narrow bracketed shelf of white marble. The four plaques depict an eagle, crossed swords, anchor, and the seal of the City of Townsville, and replace four clock faces.
The medal "For services in the field of military cooperation" consists of a narrow plate with a national ornament and another golden, round, bronze plate with a diameter of 35 mm. The front of the medal depicts a shield with an octagonal star on it. There are the words "Republic of Azerbaijan" above the shield, words "For services in the field of military cooperation" in the middle of the star, two crossed swords below the shield, wreaths of bay leaves on the left side and wreaths of oak leaves on the right side of the shield. As a branch of the Canadian Forces, members of the Cadet Instructors Cadre wear the Distinct Environment Uniforms (DEU) of the navy, army, or air force representing their leadership of the Royal Canadian Sea, Army or Air Cadets. As required they wear the base/garrison, field and working uniforms - Naval Combat Dress (NCD) for sea, CADPAT combat uniform for army or air, or flight suit. CIC officers are issued branch accouterments upon enrollment. With Canadian Forces integration and the formation of the Cadet Instructors List (CIL), a tri-service cap badge was authorized for wear but members opted for elemental cap badges and collar badges (crossed swords for Army, fouled anchor for Navy and an eagle for Air).

He began to specialize in wildlife illustration and particularly fish, "producing all 300 illustrations" for The Fresh and Saltwater Fishes of the World (1976).
The bravery medals awarded from June 1915 forward are almost identical to the Orders awarded before that date, save for the crossed swords being present on all of them regardless of class. Such Orders also lacked the phrase etched into the obverse of the older ones and the date 1904 on the reverse, which marked the centenary of the First Serbian Uprising. Instead, they merely had King Peter's name on the obverse beside the year when the Order was bestowed. The Orders themselves were originally manufactured by foreign makers of decorations and medals, such as France's Arthus-Bertrand and Switzerland's Huguenin Fréres; during the interwar period (1919–39) they were produced domestically.
They first deployed to Afghanistan in February 2006 (Operation Enduring Freedom rotations VII), where they fought the Taliban in the mountainous terrain of the Afghan-Pakistani border. It was during this deployment that SFC Jared C. Monti, of 3rd Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, earned the Medal of Honor while protecting his soldiers from an overwhelming Taliban attack on his unit's position. When the Spartan Brigade redeployed to Fort Drum after 16 months, the Afghan people nicknamed them "the Tribe of the Crossed Swords". In January 2009, the Spartan Brigade deployed again to Afghanistan, returning to RC-East, where they were tasked with providing security for the Logar and Wardak provinces as well as the southern entrance to the country's capital.
Roy Evans (born 1930), is an actor who has appeared in British Television from 1960s onwards, appearing in a wide range of productions including Doctor Who (The Daleks' Master Plan as Trantis, The Green Death as Bert and The Monster of Peladon as a miner), Blake's 7 ("Redemption" as a Slave), Porterhouse Blue (as Arthur), Only Fools and Horses ("The Jolly Boy's Outing" as Harry the coach driver), as well as peasant roles in The Black Adder. In film he is particularly known for roles in Oliver! (1968), Decline and Fall... of a Birdwatcher (1968), Where's Jack? (1969), Loving Memory (1971), Dark Places (1973), Jabberwocky (1977), Crossed Swords (1977), Raise the Titanic (1980), The Elephant Man (1980) and The Company of Wolves (1984).
A pocket-sized metal soap dish emblazoned with two crossed swords that was in use during World War I (1914-1918) is in the special collections of the Pritzker Military Museum & Library. In 1919, Witter Bynner immortalized a soap dish in his poem entitled I Evade, which is reproduced here in its entirety: "The look in your eyes / Was as soft as the underside of soap in a soap-dish … / And I left before you could love me." A gold-plated soap dish was one of over 60 artifacts from Saddam Hussein's private airport and palace that were returned to Iraq by the US government in March 2015 as part of an Iraqi national project to preserve its cultural heritage.
273 Pierre Bernac (1960s photograph) Shortly after the war, Poulenc had a brief affair with a woman, Fréderique ("Freddy") Lebedeff, with whom he had a daughter, Marie- Ange, in 1946. The child was brought up without knowing who her father was (Poulenc was supposedly her "godfather") but he made generous provision for her, and she was the principal beneficiary of his will. In the post-war period Poulenc crossed swords with composers of the younger generation who rejected Stravinsky's recent work and insisted that only the precepts of the Second Viennese School were valid. Poulenc defended Stravinsky and expressed incredulity that "in 1945 we are speaking as if the aesthetic of twelve tones is the only possible salvation for contemporary music".
It was intended to reward those who would have earned a second award of the Military Merit Medal. It too could be awarded on either of the two ribbons. Originally, it was intended that the Silver Military Merit Medal would replace a Bronze Military Merit Medal, but on April 7, 1914, the wear of both at the same time was permitted. On December 13, 1916, the addition of a pair of gilt crossed swords on the ribbon was authorized to recognize a higher grade of wartime merit. During the 2009 MPs expenses scandal, Begg was one of the first Scottish MPs to take the step of publishing all of her claims under the Additional Costs Allowance on her website before they were released by the House of Commons authorities saying that it was "important people can see how MPs spend taxpayers' money." A hedge in the local golf course, as suggested by Lieutenant-Colonel Alfred H. Burne, is likely the row of shrubs behind which Oxford's men lined up and took cover. In 1740 Sir Jeremy Sambroke erected an obelisk to commemorate the battle about south of the junction between the Great North Road and Kitts End Road. It was later moved just north of the junction on the grass between the two roads. Known as Hadley Highstone, it stands tall and marks its location with the inscription: The battle is referred to in the coat of arms of the London Borough of Barnet which display a red and a silver rose in the top of the shield and two crossed swords in the crest.

After his accession to the throne in 1903, King Peter I of Serbia continued awarding the Order of the White Eagle, but the reverse of the medallion had the year of the proclamation of the Kingdom (1883) instead of the cipher of Milan I. The white eagle with wings displayed was re-established as the State Arms of Serbia, symbol descended from the Emperors of Byzantium. The order had a War Merit Division, with crossed swords between the Royal Crown and eagle's heads, that was introduced in 1915, and conferred for conspicuous bravery of the officers in the field. New weapons and industrialization reduced demand for swords so they diversified into other types of cutlery, but could not compete with Sheffield, and the sword works closed in 1840. However some moved to Birmingham and their business eventually became part of Wilkinson Sword. Evidence of this industry includes grooves in the stones of the river, the fine house inscribed "Cutlers Hall, 1767, William Oley" and the name of the public house "The Crown and Crossed Swords". The Norwegian Defence Cross of Honour () is a medal which is awarded by the commander of the Norwegian Defence forces to persons having performed Meritious work in or for the Norwegian defence forces. The Medal was established by royal decree on 30 January 2012, after a proposal of the commander of the Norwegian forces. It ranks as number 18 in the list of Norwegian decorations, though it is equal to the Norwegian Police Cross of Honour and Civil Defence Cross of Honour ranked 16th and 17th by seniority only. The Norwegian Defence Cross of Honour consists of a cross with slightly splayed out arms, with the Norwegian armed forces herald (Coat of arms of Norway with point up, crossed swords) in the cross-junction; The cross is lain over silver laurels.
Upon admission into the Order of Merit, members are entitled to use the post-nominal letters OM and are entrusted with the badge of the order, consisting of a golden crown from which is suspended a red enamelled cross, itself centred by a disk of blue enamel, surrounded by a laurel wreath, and bearing in gold lettering the words FOR MERIT; the insignia for the military grouping is distinguished by a pair of crossed swords behind the central disk.
