Gladiatorus began his racing career in the Premio Germanio over 1400 metres at Naples Racecourse on 7 June when he started at odds of 7.9/1 and won by one and three quarter lengths from the favourite Jay Force. Alison Powers is an American former racing cyclist who last rode for the UnitedHealthcare Women’s Team. Powers is the first American rider to simultaneously be National Champion in all three disciplines of road cycling (Criterium, Road and Time trial). On October 23, 2014, Powers announced her retirement from the sport.

The Criterium Ciudad de Jaén (City of Jaén Criterion), also known as the Criterio Internacional de Navidad "Ciudad de Jaén" (City of Jaén International Christmas Criterion), was an unofficial road bicycle race held annually in Jaén, Spain. The Criterium Ciudad de Jaén was held on the last weekend of November, from 2007 to 2010, during the off-season for competitive events on the UCI World Tour circuit. The unofficial competition was created, and sponsored, by the City of Jaén Sports Council, the Province of Jaén Council of Sports, and the Regional Government of Andalusia Ministry of Tourism, Commerce and Sport. The two day event had the riders accumulate placement points in a team time trial on day one, and a long distance all-competitors road race on day two, with the overall winner determined by total scores over the two events.

Samuel William Gaze (born 12 December 1995) is a New Zealand cross-country and road cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . Manuel Ortega Ocaña (born 7 July 1981 in Jaén) is a Spanish professional road cyclist. Winner of the Criterium des Aiglons in 1926, aged 21, he won the Circuit de Paris in 1928. In 1929 he was second in the French national road championship behind his brother Marcel. In 1930 traveled to Australia, finishing 3rd in the Sydney to Melbourne and the Tour of Tasmania.

Jozef Gábriš (25 June 1933 – 1994) was a controlline aerobatics pilot (F2B) from the former Czechoslovakia. In 1958 he won his first international championship, the ninth Criterium of Europe, in Belgium (his first international contest in this class). Then eight years later, on the RAF Airbase in Swinderby he reached his first WCH title, followed by third in 1968 in Helsinki (Finland). The fourth WCH title he lost just by a "thumb", in 1972.

He noted that early in his career he had dabbled with recreational drugs, amphetamines and cortisone, but did not believe they played a role in his illness. Fignon's cancer was diagnosed in April 2009 after metastatic tumors were found in his digestive system.

Genny was twice National Road Champion in 1984 and 1987, and twice National Criterium Champion those same years. She represented Canada at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1984. Training in New Mexico and then Colorado, Genny Brunet, resident of Pierrefonds, Quebec, ended up in 22nd place (Los Angeles Olympics 1984) and 4th place (Seoul Olympics 1988) in the Women's Individual Road Race.

Snake Alley consists of five half-curves and two quarter-curves over a distance of , rising , a 21% grade, from Washington Street to Columbia. The street is the site of an annual uphill bike race, the Snake Alley Criterium. There is also an art fair, the Snake Alley Art Fai], sponsored by the Art Center of Burlington. There is also the annual Snake Alley Festival of Film where filmmakers from around the world gather to compete in the various categories for the awards.

Don Cossack is a brown gelding with a white blaze bred in Germany by the Gestűt Etzean. He was sired by Sholokhov, who won the Gran Criterium in 2001 and finished second in both the Irish Derby and the Eclipse Stakes in the following year. His other major winners have included the German Horse of the Year Night Magic and the leading French hurdler Esmondo. Don Cossack's dam Depeche Toi was a German mare who finished seventh in the 1994 Preis der Diana.

Nikol Płosaj (born ) is a Polish female road and track cyclist, representing Poland at international competitions. As a junior, she competed at the 2013 UCI Road World Championships in the women's junior road race and at the 2014 UCI Road World Championships in the women's junior road race. At the 2016 World University Cycling Championship she won the silver medal in both the road race and criterium. She won the silver medal at the 2016 UEC European Track Championships in the team pursuit.

Spartacus (4 March 2000 - November 2012) was an Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He showed his best form as a two-year-old in 2002 when he ran in four different countries and recorded Group 1 victories in the Phoenix Stakes and the Gran Criterium. He failed to show any worthwhile form in the following year and was retired to stud. He stood as a breeding stallion in Ireland, New Zealand and Australia and had modest success as a sire of winners.

Wasley competed for the Isle of Man at the 2011 Island Games on the Isle of Wight. She won a silver medal in the criterium race, and also came sixth in the time trial and eighth in the road race. In 2012, Wasley won a round of a time trial league; she raced for Team Manx Telecom. For the 2013 season, Wasley signed for the Scott Contessa Epic team, for whom she competed in the 2013 and 2014 British Road Championships riding.

The 2000 Tour de Langkawi was the 5th edition of the Tour de Langkawi, a cycling stage race that took place in Malaysia. It began with a prologue criterium on 25 January in Langkawi and ended on 6 February in Kuala Lumpur. In fact, this race was rated by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) as a 2.4 category race. Chris Horner of USA won the race, followed by Julio Alberto Pérez of Mexico second and Fortunato Baliani of Italy third.

The 1951 Ice Hockey World Championships was the 18th World Championship and the 29th European Championship in ice hockey for international teams. The tournament took place in France from 9th to 17 March and the games were played in the capital city, Paris. Thirteen nations took part, and were first split into two groups. The seven best teams were placed in the first group, and the six others were placed into the "Criterium Européen", which would later become the B Pool.

After Rooijakkers finished his Bachelor's degree in business in 2002, he decided to find a part- time job so he would have enough time for cycling. In 2003, he joined the cycling team "Lowik Meubelen-Tegeltoko". He started the Olympia's Tour in that same year, but fell in the fifth stage and could not race for the remainder of the season. He returned for the 2004 season and won the Criterium of Lieshout and finished third in the Dutch National Amateur Road Race Championships ('vrije renners').

Rewilding was sired by the Irish-bred, German-trained horse Tiger Hill out of Darara. Tiger Hill won three Group One races and finished third in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Since retiring to stud he has sired the winners of over a hundred races including Oriental Tiger (Gerling- Preis), Iota (Preis der Diana) and Königstiger (Gran Criterium). Darara was a top-class racemare, winning the Prix Vermeille in 1986 and was a half-sister to the Prix du Jockey Club winner and notable sire Darshaan.

After several publications in "Den Gulden Winckel" and "Criterium", Buddingh' debuted with his collection "Het geïrriteerde lied". These publications of surreal poems were illegal, due to the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II. Also his translations of four poems by W.H. Auden were issued clandestinely. While in the sanitarium for his tuberculosis, he wrote his famous "gorgelrijmen", of which "De blauwbilgorgel" is the most famous. This particular poem was inspired by an English children’s novel titled "The bluebillgurgle" by E. Nesbit.

Elliott in the Jersey Town Criterium 2009 in Saint Helier Elliott returned at the start of 2003 at 41. Riding as an individual for the Pinarello-Assos squad (set up by his former manager at ANC–Halfords, Phil Griffiths), he won in the Havant International GP and stages in the Irish Milk Ras. In 2004, he won the season long Premier Calendar, and the National Elite Circuit Series. For 2006 Elliott signed for Plowman Craven team and again won the National Elite Circuit Series.

Women's racing at the Tour Down Under began in 2011 as a series of exhibition criterium races and eventually formed part of the women's National Road Series (2015), with these races variously operating under guises deriving from the parent event's name. In 2016, organisers developed a new UCI-classified event that carried the 'Women's Tour' name, and was ranked as a new UCI 2.2. stage race with international teams invited to compete. The event considers the 'Women's Tour Down Under' as having started in 2016.

Having competed in swimming since 2006, Mansell started competing in cycling at the start of the 2011 season, taking his first ever win at the Mountbatten Circuit Race in Swinemouth earlier that year. He competed in the 2011 Halfords Tour Series for Team UK Youth. He finished 11th in the Men's Omnium at the 2012 British National Track Cycling Championships and 8th in the same event in 2013. He won an individual bronze representing Jersey in the Town centre criterium at the 2013 Island Games.

Costing $42 million as a track cycling venue for the Sydney 2000 Olympics, construction of the velodrome, as well as an 800m Criterium Practice Track, commenced in May 1998 and finished in November 1999. It currently has a seating capacity of 3,150, but was expanded to 5,821 seats to cater for the 2000 Olympics. At 250 metres length, 60 kilometres worth of Baltic Pine (Finland) were used in its composition. The track bends at a maximum angle of 42° degrees, while the straights are at 12.5°.

He won the bronze medal at the 1982 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Leicester in the men's tandam together with Sjaak Pieters. Before the spring season began, the team took a victory in its first-ever race. Henderson was the team's captain for the Cancer Council Helpline Classic, a criterium run two days before the Tour Down Under with the same peloton, but not counting toward its standings. The other important one-day race is the World Championships. Unlike other classics, the World Championships is held on a different course each year and ridden by national rather than sponsored teams. The winner wears a white jersey with coloured bands (often called "rainbow bands") around the chest. In Australia, due to the relatively mild winters and hot summers, the amateur road racing season runs from autumn to spring, through the winter months, while criterium races are held in the mornings or late afternoons during the summer.

The International Tour de Toona was a stage bicycle race held in Central Pennsylvania in July from 1987 until 2011. The event became the largest pro-am cycling event in North America and had stages spanning Blair, Cambria, Bedford, and Somerset Counties in Pennsylvania. The name was changed to The International for the 2002 edition of the race and then to the International Tour de Toona for the 2004 edition. In 2008, tour organizers scaled back the event to a one-day criterium race in downtown Altoona.

Sponsored by the Regional Development Agencies, it attracted teams such as T-Mobile and U.S. Postal Service. It was designated a 2.3 category race on the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) calendar. Highlights of the event were shown as part of BBC'S Grandstand programme a week after the final stage. Mitsuhiro Ogata, who trained Grass Wonder throughout his racing career Grass Wonder began his third season in the Grade II Keio Hai Spring Cup over 1400 metres at Tokyo on 15 May. He won by three quarters of a length from Air Jihad, to whom he was conceding four pounds. The unplaced horses included Phalaenopsis (Oka Sho, Shuka Sho) and the Godolphin challenger Lend A Hand (Gran Criterium). On June 13 over 1600 metres Grass Wonder faced Air Jihad at level weights in the Yasuda Kinen.

Free entertainment includes music by local musicians and entertainers performing throughout the three-day festival, the Berry Fun Run, and the Blackberry Criterium Bike Race. Bremerton National Airport sponsors the annual Blackberry Festival Fly-In, with shuttle service provided by Kitsap Transit to the festival. As the festival's background story goes, the downtown waterfront of Bremerton where the festival takes place was a massive overgrowth of wild blackberry bushes that were removed to build the waterfront Fountain Park, Boardwalk, Marina and Bus/Ferry Terminal.

The sport is strongest in the traditional road cycling countries such as Belgium (Flanders in particular), France and the Netherlands. Cyclo-cross has parallels with mountain bike racing, cross-country cycling and criterium racing. Many of the best cyclo-cross riders cross train in other cycling disciplines; however, cyclo-cross has reached such size and popularity that some racers are specialists, and many prioritize cyclo-cross races over other disciplines. Cyclo-cross bicycles are similar to road racing bicycles: lightweight, with somewhat narrow tires and drop handlebars.

Merckx had won important races before the Tour started, including the 1972 Giro d'Italia, and was also the reigning world champion. Ocana had won less races, but won the Criterium du Dauphiné Libéré. The most important other participants were considered Raymond Poulidor, Felice Gimondi, Joop Zoetemelk and Bernard Thévenet. José Manuel Fuente, who had won the 1972 Vuelta a España and finished second in the 1972 Giro d'Italia, did not compete, as his team decided they had already been in too many hard races.

In the 1970s, winners of the Gastown Grand Prix included Bill Wild, Max Grace, Brian Keast, and David Watkins. By 1976, 122 elite cyclists from Canada and Mexico were signed up to race the GP. In 1977, racers from the US made their first appearance at the criterium by entering 25 riders in the race. One of these riders was 18-year-old Davis Phinney. Phinney later went on to become an Olympic medalist and winner of two stages of the Tour de France.

In the 1938 Tour de France, Schulte joined as a member of the Dutch team. He won the third stage, and abandoned the race in the eighth stage.. The road race starts and finishes in Souderton, while the criterium is located in Doylestown.

Connie Meijer (5 February 1963 – 17 August 1988) was a Dutch cyclist who won a bronze medal in the road race at the 1987 UCI Road World Championships. She won a national title in this event in 1984, as well as individual stages of the Tour of Norway in 1987 and 1988. On 17 August 1988, while competing in a criterium in Naaldwijk, she complained of severe nausea and died on the way to the hospital. Initial reports stated that she died of a brain hemorrhage.

The valley hosted the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 1970. Val Gardena is home to the Saslong Classic, a men's World Cup downhill race that has been held almost every year since 1969. Since 2002 (and in 1983), the downhill has been paired with a Super-G race, and from 1979 to 1982 a combined event was held. Born in Grand Terrace, California, Leogrande turned professional in 2005 with the team, and placed first in the Murrietta Stage Race. He reverted to amateur status in 2006 but won the United States National Criterium Championship in Downers Grove, Illinois. That result and his edgy persona as a muscular professional tattoo-artist with a studio in Upland, California earned Leogrande a return to the professional peloton in 2007, with Michael Ball's new team. There he would race alongside three-time US Olympian Mariano Friedick and seven-time US National Champion Rahsaan Bahati.

Mount Stromlo hosted the 2009 UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships that attracted more than visitors from up to 40 countries. The event involved more than 750 of the world's top riders who competed in the four mountain bike disciplines of Cross Country, Downhill, Four Cross and Observed Trials. In addition to the mountain biking facilities Mount Stromlo also boasts an event pavilion with office space and change rooms, a kids play area, BBQs, a road cycling criterium circuit, a groomed grass cross country running track and equestrian trails.

He won Paris–Roubaix at his seventh attempt in 1982 thanks to work by his team, especially Peeters. Raas crashed in the 1984 Milan–San Remo, injuring his back and internal organs and was never the same, although he took a stage in the 1984 Tour de France. Renshaw stayed with FDJeux.com for two seasons, before he moved to , with the main aim of using his track bike handling experience to ride as lead-out for Thor Hushovd. Renshaw showed strong early season form, taking out the Geelong Bay Series Criterium for the second consecutive year. This led to him racing as Credit Agricole's main sprinter in the early events (with Hushovd's season yet to commence), where he picked up his first Pro-Tour victory in the first stage of his 'local' Pro-Tour event, the Tour Down Under.

Cyclists are typically more efficient pedalling cranks with which they have had an adaptation period. Several different formulas exist to calculate appropriate crank length for various riders. In addition to the rider's size, another factor affecting the selection of crank length is the rider's cycling specialty and the type of cycling event. Historically, bicycle riders have typically chosen proportionally shorter cranks for higher cadence cycling such as criterium and track racing, while riders have chosen proportionally longer cranks for lower cadence cycling such as time trial racing and mountain biking.

Until 1939, the title of champion was attributed as a result of dams between the regional champions. But from 1946 to 1947, a championship of "excellence" (national division) was created and competes nationally. In 1944–1945, 1945–1946 and 1952–1953, the championship was not disputed and was replaced by a criterium (a kind of tournament pools where participation is voluntary). The colt began his career in racing at age two in Italy where he had one win in four of his 1963 starts with a third-place finish in Italy's most important race for his age group, the Gran Criterium. Racing at age three in 1964, Prince Royal won his first three starts before finishing fourth in the Gran Premio d'Italia. Born in Wellington, New Zealand, McLay moved to the United Kingdom as an infant and was brought up in Leicester. McLay began cycling competitively at the age of six. Following his success as under 16 rider at the British National Track Championships, he represented Great Britain at the 2007 European Youth Olympic Festival, competing in the criterium and road race events. He says that he was not very good at sports that require coordination as a school-boy and thus this fuelled his desire to continue competing in cycling.

The North Star Bicycle Festival got its start in 1998, when the Lance Armstrong Foundation approached David LaPorte and asked for help to create a Twin Cities replica of the popular Austin, Texas-based Ride for the Roses. LaPorte launched the Tour de Wings in 1999. The two-day event featured a criterium in Saint Paul, around the grounds of the state Capitol, and a track race at the National Sports Center Velodrome. In 2000, Great River Energy became a major sponsor and the event was named the Touchstone Energy Bicycle Festival.

The Swedish Trotting Criterium (Swedish: Svenskt Travkriterium or only Kriteriet) is an annual national Group One harness event for trotters that is held at Solvalla in Stockholm, Sweden. It is considered one of the classic trotting events in Sweden as well as the most prestigious Swedish event for 3-year-old trotters. The purse in the 2008 final was ≈US$458,000 (SEK 3,200,000), of which the winner Maharajah won half.In the conversion to USD, the rates of 2008-10-05, the date of the 2008 final, have been used.

Trained by Charles Semblat and ridden by Roger Poincelet, Ambiorix proved to be a better runner at races around 8-10 furlongs in distance rather than the European Classic distance of 12 furlongs or more. In 1948 Ambiorix made three starts. He finished off the board in his racing debut in the French Prix de Chatou and then easily won the Selsey Stakes at Goodwood Racecourse in England. He followed this with a win in the most important race for two-year- olds in France, the Grand Criterium.

Indian Haven's dam Madame Dubois was a successful racemare who excelled over long distances, winning the Park Hill Stakes and the Prix de Royallieu as a three-year-old in 1990. As a broodmare she produced several other winners including the Gran Criterium winner Count Dubois.

His father, who competed in amateur mountain bicycle races, gave Xaus his first motorcycle at the age of five, a Montesa 25cc. Aged 14 he was racing dirt- bikes, but his father convinced him to turn his attentions towards road racing. Xaus took part in the 125cc Catalan Championship, the 125cc Solo Moto Criterium, and that same year he took victory in the 80cc Catalonia Supermoto Championship. In 1994 he competed in the Open Ducados Supersport series in Spain – finishing 17th place, improving to third the following year.

Tony Bin was trained by Luigi Camici. At age two, his best result in a major race was a third in the GI Gran Criterium at Milan's San Siro Racecourse. As a three-year-old in 1986, he finished second in the GI Gran Premio del Jockey Club. In 1987 at age four, Tony Bin won some of Italy's most prestigious Group One events, including the Gran Premio del Jockey Club, Premio Presidente della Repubblica and Gran Premio di Milano, repeating as winner of the latter two in 1988.

In the beginning the competition was organised only for the children categories and having evolved from the Polish European Criterium series event, it was divided into deriving from it categories of Debs (the oldest) – Springs – Cubs – Chicks (the youngest) (some of them occasionally divided into sub-categories according to years of birth). However, starting with May 2014, they were changed into more common Gold (the oldest) – Silver – Bronze (the youngest), and continue so until contemporary times. On May 15, 2013, Sylvain Georges tested positive for the banned stimulant Heptaminol and failed to start stage 11 of the 2013 Giro d'Italia. Georges blamed the positive result on the freely available product 'Ginkor Fort' (made from Ginkgo biloba). On May 21 Georges 'B Sample' also tested positive for the stimulant causing the team to voluntarily remove itself from the 2013 Criterium du Dauphine in accordance with MPCC rules.

Finnish Jorma Kontio was chosen and won. After wins in Gran Premio Mario Locatelli, Grand Criterium de Vitesse and Olympiatravet, Varenne and Minnucci beat the event record in Gran Premio della Lotteria with the time of 1:10.8 (km rate). Elitloppet on May 26 meant another defended title and another event record (1:10.2 km rate). Thereafter, the people around Varenne focused their attention to the World Cup Trot. If one horse won all five legs of the world cup, a massive bonus (€1 million) would be paid.

Casey Fields includes a criterium cycling track, which is often used by cyclists and is the location of two different rounds of the Victorian HPV Series every year. The complex also has an athletics centre, netball courts, tennis courts, rugby fields, a golf practice cage, and fishing lake. Since the 1990s it has been proposed that a Cranbourne East railway station be built adjacent to the complex, on a short extension from the current Cranbourne terminus of the former South Gippsland railway line. This has not yet eventuated.

The Devonport Athletic Club, a professional athletic club, hosts a leg of the Tasmanian Cycling Christmas Carnival Series each year in December attended by local and international cyclists, other sports at the carnivals include athletics and woodchopping. Woodchopping events are also held at the Devonport Agricultural & Pastoral Society Spring Show in November. The Devon Amateur Athletics Club compete at the Dial Ranges Sports Centre at Penguin, Tasmania. The Mersey Valley Devonport Cycling Club host track cycling, the Mersey Valley Tour, Devon 80 Road Race and the Ulverstone Criterium.

Shiva was a chestnut mare with a narrow white blaze bred in Japan by Northern Farm in partnership with Stavros Niarchos. During her racing career she was trained in Newmarket, Suffolk by Henry Cecil. She raced in the colours of the Niarchos Family who inherited the racing and breeding interests of Stavros Niarchos when the Greek shipping tycoon died in 1996. She was sired by Hector Protector, an American-bred stallion who won five Group 1 races in France including the Gran Criterium, Poule d'Essai des Poulains and Prix Jacques Le Marois.

Her win in the Grand Criterium was brilliant and she was hailed as the flying filly because of her brilliant performances. At age three, Hula Dancer raced both in France and in England where she again defeated colts on a regular basis as well as older horses in the Champion Stakes at Newmarket Racecourse. The highlight of her 1963 racing campaign was a victory in the British Classic, the 1,000 Guineas. Her first performance in England was in the 1,000 Guineas and she started to sweat up badly before the race.

Brentwood does however host a number of Criterium Cycle Races that attract many of Britain's greatest cyclists. The town has two large sports centres providing access to a range of sports including badminton, squash, swimming, and football. There are a number of golf courses, including a 70-par municipal course very close to the town centre at Hartswood as well as others in the surrounding countryside. A number of cricket clubs exist in and around the town although the County Ground, closest to the town centre, no longer hosts Essex matches.

The traditional Saturday Criterium on Khreshchatyk, that in 2014 has already taken place in the international status on Velyka Vasylkivska street. The rerouting was associated with an overlap of the main street - Khreshchatyk and Maidan Nezalezhnosti after the revolutionary events on Euromaidan. One of the new route’s sections laid on the pavement, that made the race even more spectacular and difficult. In 2012–2014 such famous people as Alexander Vinokourov, Dzhamolidin Abduzhaparov, Geoffrey R. Pyatt, Sergey Bubka, Dmytro Bulatov were the guests of the event under the name Race Horizon Park.

2014 saw Jones win the Avanti Gas 2 day road race, winning both the final stage and overall winner. Jones regularly competed in the Marsh Tracks, Rhyl Criterium races, and in his last race there at the end of 2016 lapped the field solo to win in impressive style. From 2016 to 2018 Jones turned his attention to Time Trials. He achieved several wins around the UK capped in 2018 with 3rd place in the Welsh TT National Championship followed by 16th place in the British National 50 mile Championship.

Ribot (February 27, 1952 – April 28, 1972) was a British-bred Italian-trained Thoroughbred racehorse who is one of the Timeform top-rated racehorses of all time. He is considered by many experts to be in the top 3 of the most complete and strongest racehorses in history. Undefeated in sixteen races, he won over all distances, from 5 furlongs (1,000m) to 1m 7f (3,000m) in three countries and on all types of track conditions. He was the best Italian two-year-old of 1954, when his three wins included the Gran Criterium.

The next stop was Hannover, where on 1 July Csalogany won the Zukunfts-Rennen by 1 length in front of the Austro-Hungarian colt Hamburg. On the next day, Kincsem won the Vergleichspreis also by 1 length with Hamburg in second. Third was a three-year-old Double Zero, who would later win the Deutsches Derby. On 3 July, Csalogany added another win and the expedition continued to Hamburg. On 9 July, Kincsem won the Hamburger Criterium by lengths ahead of the German filly Adelaide and colt Hamburg.

Passionate Kemp (born 2001) is a Finnish former Standardbred trotter by Lindy Lane out of Sonata Lobell by Mystic Park. Her most prestigious victories include the Finnish Trotting Criterium (2004), Gran Premio Orsi Mangelli (2004), Gran Premio Tino Triossi (2005) and the Finnish Trotting Derby (2005). When it, in April 2009, was reported Passionate Kemp's racing career was ended, the mare had earned US$2,383,158 (€1,667,957), an amount that makes her the richest Finnish trotter ever.In the conversion from Euro to USD, the rates of 2009-04-07 have been used.

The first day of racing is the Trofeo Mallorca which is a criterium (circuit race) around the streets of Palma. The second day is the Trofeo Cala Millor, sometimes called the Trofeo Alcúdia. These two opening days are run over a fairly flat course and result in a sprint finish. The Trofeo Pollença (day three) and Trofeo Sóller (day four) are contested over a more hilly course using the climbs of the Col de Sóller (501 metres) and the Col de Puig Major (850 metres) amongst others on the route.

Sikeston (foaled 9 April 1986 - after 2003) was an American-bred, British- trained Thoroughbred racehorse who had his greatest success in Italy. In five years on the track, he ran 34 times and won 11 races, seven of them at Group 1 level, three at Group 2 and one at Group 3 and was also placed in several major races. He produced most of his best performances on soft or heavy going. He won the Gran Criterium as a two-year-old in 1988 and the Premio Parioli in the following spring.

Since 2004 the Marcha Ciclotourista has been held in La Oliva and the Criterium Ciclista has been held in Corralejo (also part of the La Oliva municipality) since 2005. Participants include , T-Mobile and a team from Orbea. These competitions have contributed to local interest in the sport and the first professional local team, the Fuerteventura-Canarias, was formed, initially run by Óscar Guerrero, director of Kaiku, although they have not competed for the past few seasons. There are various motocross circuits on the island, including Los Alares in Antigua and Isla de Fuerteventura in Puerto del Rosario municipality.

Under the guidance of then team-manager and confidant Joseph M. Papp, Leogrande promptly won the points classification at the 2007 Redlands Bicycle Classic, where he also finished second in the stage two criterium. He claimed three stages at the International Cycling Classic-Superweek in Wisconsin before finishing second overall. One of Leogrande's most impressive results of the season, however, was his top-10 finish at the CSC International, alongside a field that included European professionals: he took 8th. The Városi Sportcsarnok () is a multi-use indoor stadium in Békéscsaba, Hungary. The arena, which has an oval shape, very similar to the Colosseum, was opened in 1988, and has been modernized and renovated for the 2004 European Women's Handball Championship, to fulfil the strict criterium of the European Handball Federation. It is the home ground of the local sports clubs, from which the best known is Békéscsabai Előre NKSE, that usually play in a sold-out arena. The sports hall also hosts martial art events, futsal matches, galas, expos, balls, dance competitions and motocross races.

Born on 12 April 1965 in Lugo in Galacia, Spain, Juan López Mella started his racing career with motocross but by the age of eighteen had moved to asphalt. After debuting nationally in the Criterium Solo Moto in 1985, he progressed to racing in the World Championships in the 250cc class in 1987. After a season riding a Yamaha, during which he scored no points, he moved to a Honda in 1988; once again he finished outside the championship rankings. In 1989, he raced in the World Motorcycle Championship, coming fortieth at the end of the season.

Two weeks later Timepiece was matched against colts in the Listed James Seymour Stakes over the same course and distance in which she was ridden by Ian Mongan and started 2/1 second favourite behind Godolphin's Kirklees, the winner of the Gran Criterium, York Stakes and September Stakes. The other fancied runners were Penitent (Lincoln Handicap) and Prince Siegfried (Doonside Cup). After tracking the leaders Timepiece gained the advantage from Prince Siegfried approaching the final furlong and, despite hanging to the left, she drew away in the closing stages to win by three and a half lengths.

She graduated with a PhD in Evolutionary Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz in spring 2007, and began racing full-time in 2008, although she does work as a software developer in her spare time. Following her successful racing season in 2007, Miller continued to ride for Team TIBCO in 2008, and is also the team's Marketing Director, managing "sponsor relations and strategic development, establishing and strengthening growth-oriented industry partnerships." She is the 2008 United States National Road Race and Criterium Champion.

Recumbent bicycles were banned from bike races in 1934 after Marcel Berthet set a new hour record in his Velodyne streamliner (49.992 km on November 18, 1933). Track bicycles are used for track cycling in Velodromes, while cyclo- cross races are held on outdoor terrain, including pavement, grass, and mud. Cyclocross races feature man-made features such as small barriers which riders either bunny hop over or dismount and walk over.

This year at the Algerian national road cycling championships he took a second place in the individual time trial. He then won the Grandglise criterium in Belgium before taking part at the 2009 Mediterranean Games in Pescara in which he placed 17th in the individual time trial and 19th in the road race. In the Tour des Aéroports in Tunisia he placed second in the first stage, before clinching the silver medal at the individual time trial of the 2009 Arab Cycling Championships. He finished 2009 with a third place in the Ouverture Saison de l'Algérie at the end of October.

Sagan kicked off the 2018 season by winning the People's Choice Classic, the prelude criterium to the Tour Down Under. Two days later, he took third place in the first stage of the 2018 Tour Down Under in a bunch sprint to Andre Greipel and Caleb Ewan. On Stage 4, Sagan maintained the pace of the lead group up Norton Summit, and was able to take his first World Tour win of the season following a descent to the finish. He skipped the Belgian season openers to prepare at altitude camp in the Sierra Nevada before starting his European campaign in Italy.

The UCI Women's Road Cycling World Cup was a season-long road bicycle competition for women organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale between 1998–2015. This competition consisted of a series (which has varied from 6 to 12 events) of races linked together, not only by a common designation, but also by a yearly overall points competition. Each World Cup race was a one-day event, with courses ranging from relatively flat, criterium-like courses, to those which have much climbing, as exemplified by La Flèche Wallonne Féminine which ends on the famed Mur de Huy climb with several sections exceeding 15% grades.

Belardo is a bay horse with a white blaze bred in Ireland by the County Kilkenny-based Ballylinch Stud. He is from the first crop of foals sired by the Prix du Jockey Club winner Lope de Vega: other foals from Lope de Vega's first crop included the winners of the Gran Criterium, Sirenia Stakes and Cornwallis Stakes. Belardo's dam Danakaya won only one minor race but was placed in both the Lowther Stakes and the Cheveley Park Stakes. As a descendant of the outstanding racemare Midget, she was distantly related to the 1000 Guineas winner Ma Biche.

The protest at first only involved the criterium being neutralized – that is, the race director agreed that each rider would receive the same finishing time as the stage winner regardless of when they actually crossed the line. After the riders rode a lap of the course, they decided instead not to contest the stage at all, riding the first six circuits slower than previous stages. After four laps, they stopped altogether as race leader Di Luca addressed the unhappy crowd to explain their actions. The times for the stage did not count, and there was no aggressive riding until a final sprint finish.

Over 50 venues in Montreal hosted events for the 1st World Outgames. Three main areas gathered most of the activities, the largest being the Claude Robillard Sports Complex, in addition to the Montreal Olympic Park and the Jean Drapeau Park. The Outgames used most of the venues built for the Montreal Summer Olympics of 1976. Other venues included the Golf Metropolitain Anjou for golfing, the Parc du Domaine Vert à Mirabel for mountain biking, the Little Italy neighbourhood for the Cycling Criterium, as well as various parks across the city for sports such as soccer, tennis and softball.

Gladiatorus (foaled 28 March 2005) is an American-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He was initially trained in Italy where he was one of the best juvenile colts of 2007, winning six races (four of them at Listed level) and finishing runner-up in the Group 1 Gran Criterium. He was then acquired by Godolphin but had training problems and missed the whole of the next season. He reached his peak in the early part of 2009 when he won his first three races in Dubai including emphatic victories in the Al Fahidi Fort and the Dubai Duty Free.

Newspaperofrecord is a bay filly with a white blaze and white socks on her hind legs bred in Ireland by Times of Wigan. As a yearling she was offered for sale at Tattersalls in October 2017 and was bought by Klaravich Stables for 200,000 guineas. The filly was exported to the United States and was sent into training with Chad Brown. She is from the fifth crop of foals sired by the Prix du Jockey Club winner Lope de Vega: other foals from Lope de Vega's first crop included the winners of the Gran Criterium, Sirenia Stakes and Cornwallis Stakes.

The TZ2 took class win on 25 April 1965 in the 1000 km of Monza, with Bussinello-De Adamich finishing seventh overall and first in the GT 1600 category. Also in 1965 it took class victories thanks to Rolland-Consten in the 12 Hours of Sebring; Bianchi-Rolland in the Targa Florio; and Adamich-"Geki" in the 1000 km of Nürburgring, the 6 Hours of Melbourne, the Giro d'Italia and the Criterium des Cevennes. There were further class wins the following year: at Monza (De Adamich-Zeccoli), Sebring (Andrey-"Geki"), in the Targa Florio (Pinto-Todaro) and at the Nürburgring (Bianchi-Schultze).

Picture Play was an exceptionally good-looking bay mare bred by her owner Jim Joel who had inherited a substantial stable of horses on the death of his father Jack Barnato Joel in 1940. The filly had a white star and a white sock on her left hind foot. She was from the third crop of foals sired by the French-bred stallion Donatello who won eight races when trained in Italy including the Gran Criterium, Gran Premio di Milano and Derby Italiano. After a slow start at stud he went on to sire many leading horses including Alycidon and Crepello.

Fédrigo won 4 stages of the Tour de France: Stage 14 at Gap in 2006, Stage 9 at Tarbes in 2009, and two stages in Pau: Stage 16 of the 2010 race, and Stage 15 of the 2012 edition. In the 2010 edition, he was part of a select group that conquered two Hors Catégorie climbs and two Category one climbs. He battled it out with his seven breakaway companions in the final sprint, which included Lance Armstrong, and prevailed. Fédrigo has also won races including the Four Days of Dunkirk in 2005 and the Criterium International in 2010.

Two weeks after his defeat in Paris attempted to end his season with a second Group 1 success when he travelled to Italy ad started 1.3/1 favourite for the Gran Criterium over 1600 metres at San Siro Racecourse in Milan. The best of his rivals appeared to be the British challengers Excelsius and Tacitus (second in the July Stakes) and the locally trained and Balkenhol. The twelve runners were reduced to nine after 400 metres when Chippolino fell and brought down Winning Dash and Silverboat. Spartacus led early before settling in third and then regained the lead in the straight.

Racing as a two-year-old in 1962, she defeated colts while winning the Prix de la Salamandre and the Grand Critérium, two of France's most important races for her age group. Her win in the Grand Criterium was sensational. She broke the track record for 1 mile at Longchamp in 1:36 and defeated the likes of Relko who went on the next year to win the Epsom Derby along with a whole slew of other stakes races. She was rated 133 as a two year old by Timeform and headed the French Free Handicap for two year olds.

Gordon McCauley (born 9 March 1972) is a New Zealand cyclist. He has won the men's New Zealand road race championships a record five times and the New Zealand time trial championships a record three times. He was also the first New Zealander to break the 50 minute barrier for the 40 km time trial, recording a time of 49 minutes 50 seconds at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, winning the bronze medal.Profile at the New Zealand Olympic Committee website He is the only rider ever to hold New Zealand Road, Time Trial and Criterium Titles (although on different years).

Once again, the form of the race was boosted by later events, when the third-placed Count Dubois won the Group One Gran Criterium in Milan two weeks later. Nayef's two-year-old career had followed a family pattern: Unfuwain had won the Haynes, Hanson and Clark Conditions Stakes in 1987, while Nashwan won the Autumn Stakes a year later. From 1981-1992 a youth bicycling series called the Red Zinger Mini Classics was held in Colorado, its name inspired by the original Red Zinger Bicycle Classic, inspiring a generation of young cyclists to enter the sport. Racing action in the criterium stage of the first edition of the Red Zinger Bicycle Classic in 1975. This lead group includes the cyclists who would go on to win all five editions of the stage race. Following John Allis (in the stars-and-stripes national champion jersey) are George Mount, Dale Stetina, John Howard (who won the stage race in 1975) and Wayne Stetina.

The MR PORTER Nocturne London (formerly the Smithfield Nocturne) is a cycling race in London, United Kingdom. It is organised as a criterium around a 1.2 km long course in the City of London. It was first run in 2007 for men and in 2009 for women, and takes place as part of a celebration of cycling during the afternoon and evening, such as those involving penny farthings and folding bicycles. Despite not being on the UCI Europe Tour, the race nonetheless attracts some high-profile names, such as Ed Clancy, Mark Cavendish, Matthew Goss, Davide Appollonio, Magnus Bäckstedt, and Sarah Storey.

Lycius was retired from racing to become a breeding stallion. He initially stood in Ireland before moving to the United States in 1999. He was based at Stoneriggs Farm in Florida before relocating to Mill Creek Farm in New York State in 2002 and later moving to Briar Hill Farm, Massachusetts in 2008. Glint of Gold (5 April 1978 - 1990) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. A middle-distance specialist, he was noted for his toughness and consistency, winning ten races, finishing second six times and third once in a seventeen race career which lasted from July 1980 until September 1982. He won races in four countries including six at Group One level. His major victories included the Gran Criterium and Derby Italiano in Italy, the Grand Prix de Paris and Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud in France, the Preis von Europa and Grosser Preis von Baden in Germany and the Great Voltigeur Stakes and John Porter Stakes in Britain.

His racing career over, Zafonic was sent to his owner's Banstead Manor Stud near the village of Cheveley in East Cambridgeshire. He sired more than two dozen stakes winners including Xaar, the 1997 European 2-Year-Old Champion and winner of the Dewhurst Stakes and Prix de la Salamandre, Count Dubois (Gran Criterium), Zafeen (St James's Palace Stakes), Iffraaj and Trade Fair. In August 2002, Zafonic's owner leased him for the southern hemisphere covering season to Arrowfield Stud in Scone, New South Wales, Australia. Only a few days after being released from quarantine, Zafonic died on 7 September 2002 as the result of an accident at Arrowfield's paddock.

In 2012, Van den Broeck finished 3rd in the Volta a Catalunya and then finished 5th in the Criterium du Dauphiné, showing good form for the forthcoming Tour de France. On Stage 7 of the Tour de France, a mountain top finish at La Planche des Belles Filles, Van den Broeck lost 1 minute 54 seconds to stage winner Chris Froome after getting a flat tyre just before the final climb. Team Florida's first participation in an organized race was a Primo Bike Works' 10 mile time trial starting and finishing at the Hopewell Baptist Church on Wacahoota Road Southwest of Gainesville in late 1985 or early 1986. The first Team Florida win was achieved by Paul Chludzinski in a Citizen's Class criterium in Cocoa Beach in spring 1986. The team's first USCF licensed win was secured by Michael Franovich in a Category IV road race on the Sawgrass Expressway, prior to its July 3, 1986 opening. The first collegiate race win was accomplished by Geoff Rogers in a “B” Category Race at the University of Georgia in 1989.

Popular recurring stages in California included San Francisco-area events such as a hill climb up to famed Coit Tower for a prologue and the Fisherman's Wharf Criterium and a road stage crossing the Sierra Nevada range. One year the race also started in Hawaii's Big Island in Hilo with a volcano circuit road race that had to be rerouted a month before the event when the perimeter road course was cut off by a lava flow from Kilauea. In 2009, Bevin rode for the New Zealand Bici Vida team. During this time, he won two stage victories in the 2009 Tour of Southland and victory in the Oceania Cycling Championships road race. He was the Bike New Zealand Junior Road Cyclist of the Year. Bevin then moved to the United States and briefly raced for the Rubicon–Orbea development team, with significant success, and was noticed by Bissell, an American Continental-level team. After departing from Buc with the intention of flying to Bordeaux and back, he flew until he had to make a forced landing at Barbezieux, during which the aircraft ran into a ditch and overturned. He died on arrival at hospital at Barbezieux. Kayle Leogrande (born March 29, 1977) is an American road racing cyclist, who is currently suspended from the sport. Leogrande was the 2006 winner of the United States National Amateur Criterium Championships, and spent two years with the infamous team, having turned professional in 2005 with US domestic squad . Leogrande was embroiled in a doping scandal in 2008, when it was alleged that he confessed his use of performance-enhancing drugs to a team staffer when competing at Superweek on July 26, 2007. Leogrande vigorously contested the charges brought against him by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), but was suspended for two years after a three-member arbitration panel concluded he had used EPO.

Watch Me made her racecourse debut in a maiden race over 1600 meters at Saint-Cloud Racecourse on 11 October and disputed the lead for most of the way before finishing third behind So Unique and Ouzala, beaten one and a half lengths by the winner. On 10 November she was stepped up in class for the Listed Criterium du Languedoc over the same distance at Toulouse and went off at odds of 4.7/1 in a field of eight colts and fillies. Stillwater, Minn., became the marquis criterium of the event featuring an 18% climb up Chilkoot Hill. Beginning in Silver City, New Mexico, the men's course covers around over five days, while the women's course covers about less. It consists of three road races (stages 1, 2 and 5, nicknamed the "Gila Monster"), an Individual Time Trial (stage 3) and a Criterium (stage 4). Through 2011, the Tour of the Gila was classified as a national race, which prohibits both UCI ProTour and UCI ProContinental teams from competing in it. It featured a start/finish in front of the Florida Gym on Stadium Road, turned right onto North South Drive (now known as Gale Lemerand Drive) pass the stadium, turned right onto East West Drive (turn no longer exists due to North stadium stands construction), from East West Drive right onto Fletcher Drive, left on what was a road between Pugh and Dauer Halls, right onto Buckman Drive which becomes Stadium Road, and past the Hub before returning to the start/finish.

Almost a year after his last racecourse appearance, Sanglamore returned to Chantilly for the Group One Prix d'Ispahan over 1800 metres on 2 June. He started the 4.4/1 fourth choice in the betting behind Zoman (Tattersalls Gold Cup), Priolo, and Kartajana (Prix Ganay), with the other three runners being Colour Chart (Prix de l'Opéra), Candy Glen (Gran Criterium), and Sikeston (Premio Presidente della Repubblica). The crash caused Haussler, Arnaud Coyot and Lloyd Mondory to quit the race because of their injuries, though Cavendish was able to continue. Cavendish received a thirty-second penalty and a CHF200 fine (£159 or €186 as of January 2020). The start of the next stage was disrupted by fellow riders protesting Cavendish's riding and style, and what they claimed was a lack of respect from him. His riding style resulted in organisers of the 2013 Boxmeer Criterium in the Netherlands to announce he was not welcome due to an incident during stage ten of the 2013 Tour de France, when he bumped Dutch rider Tom Veelers in a sprint finish, sending the Argos-Shimano rider tumbling.

Club logo circa 1980 Carnegie's track racing program become even more popular during the 1960s and 70's with the Caulfield Cup on Wheels being the leading race for amateur cyclists in Melbourne, often being held on the same night as the Melbourne Cup on Wheels, an equivalent race for professional cyclists. In 1984, Carnegie Amateurs Cycling Club merged with Brighton-South Caulfield Professional Cyclists Association to form Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club. More recently, the club's summer criterium racing has become very popular, attracting some of the best riders in the World and is regularly covered in leading cycling publications including Cyclingnews.com. This success, however, did attract some unwanted attention in 2013.

Jean Bidot professional career commenced in 1926 by winning the Criterium des Aiglons, a race reserved for professional riders under 30 who had not yet won a major race. He finished in 2nd place the following year by winning the first stage of the race. In 1928, he won the Circuit de Paris, was 3rd in the Circuit de Champagne and Paris-Le Havre and participated in his first Tour de France where he finished 22nd overall and in second place in the last stage in Paris. Sikeston made his racecourse debut in a maiden race over seven furlongs on good to firm ground at Newmarket Racecourse in which he started at odds of 16/1 and finished second, beaten two lengths by the Henry Cecil-trained Samoan. The colt ran second when odds-on favourite for a minor race at York Racecourse in July and then finished third at Chepstow in September. On his final run of the season Sikeston made his first appearance in Italy when he contested the Group 1 Gran Criterium over 1600 metres on soft ground at San Siro Racecourse in Milan. Ridden by Gianfranco Dettori he won by eight lengths from Lacbell and Star Shareef (also trained by Dunlop).

The race was due to start and finish in the capital city of Doha, the home base for the Tour of Qatar. The route for the Worlds road races was presented in February 2015, which was made up of a loop of through the desert and a finishing circuit in Doha city centre, including of cobblestones. The finishing circuit of on The Pearl-Qatar was used for a stage of February's Tour of Qatar: riders noted that the course was highly technical, going through 24 roundabouts, with stage winner Alexander Kristoff comparing it to a criterium. However it was also noted that the lack of long straight sections meant that the effect of the crosswinds frequently occurring in Qatar would be significantly lessened, reducing the race's unpredictability.

The 2011 Tour of Britain was the eighth running of the latest incarnation of the Tour of Britain and the 72nd British tour in total. The race started on 11 September in Peebles, Scotland and finished on 18 September in London, England, with the race also visiting Wales for one stage. The race consisted of eight stages – down from the original itinerary of nine stages due to bad weather – and included the Tour's first individual time trial since 2007, as part of two stages on the race's final day, with a criterium to finish the race. The race was held as part of the 2010–2011 UCI Europe Tour, and was categorised by the UCI as a 2.1 category race.

However, since only a coach with national approval authorization was present at the record run, he was recognized only as DDR record. On September 29, 1959 improved Elfriede Vey on the Alfred Rosh fight track their time to 37,561 km. Elfriede Vey also achieved international success. On her first international start on the Herne Hill cycle track on July 20, 1957, she won over a distance of more than 3,500 meters in single-track pursuit. She took part in the road race in London the following day and took 10th place in a strong field of 35 participants. At a World Criterium carried out in Leipzig from 17 to 20 September 1957, Elfriede Vey again claimed victory in the 3,000-meter pursuit on the track.

Controversy arose during the ten-lap Milan criterium of the ninth stage, when the riders staged a protest over what they viewed as unsafe riding conditions in that stage and those that preceded it. The most visible cause for the protest was Rabobank rider Pedro Horrillo's accident during the eighth stage; Horrillo sustained numerous fractures and head injuries after tumbling over a barricade on the roadside while descending the Culmine di San Pietro. Horrillo fell more than , and nearly died as a result of his injuries. After spending five weeks in hospitals in both Italy and his native Spain, Horrillo eventually recovered, though the day on the Culmine di San Pietro was his last as a professional cyclist, as he retired before the 2010 season began.

Since they couldn't beat Anglade, they let Bahamontes win because Bahamontes, a poor rider on the flat and on small circuits, would be no threat to the post-Tour criterium fees that made up the bulk of riders' — and agents' — earnings. Anquetil was jeered and showed his coldness to public reaction by buying a boat that he named "The Whistles of 59" and by pointing out that he was a professional and that his first interest was money. It was an attitude that other riders understood but made him hard for fans to love . In 1960 Anquetil stayed away from the Tour, returning in 1961 and winning it thereafter until 1964. He won in 1962 at a speed not bettered until 1981.

It was the first time in his career that Meyer had ever been a race leader, and with the race's queen stage to Willunga ahead, he was nervous of being able to hold the lead. In the Willunga stage, Meyer finished with the leading group, holding onto his race lead, though it was narrowed to 8 seconds due to fellow stage winner Matthew Goss getting bonus seconds at the finish line for his third place. In the Adelaide criterium to close the race, Meyer preserved his lead, emerging as Tour champion. Goss, however, mounted a spirited challenge, winning bonus time not only at the finish but also in the first intermediate sprint, coming up two seconds short in the final overall standings.

The 2007 season for the cycling team was its first, though the team's sponsors in the Kazakhstani government had entered the sport the year before backing the dissolved Liberty Seguros team. That same team was known as "Astana" for part of the season, including the 2006 Vuelta a España, but as the UCI license previously held by Manolo Saiz transferred to new ownership, headquartered in a new nation, it is considered a new team from 2007 onward. The team's manager for the 2007 season was former Tour de Suisse organizer Marc Biver, who had never before managed a cycling team at any level. The team's season began with the Tour of Qatar in late January and ended in November with Aaron Kemps' victory in the Noosa International Criterium.

Stages included a time trial, a circuit race on a 3-mile loop in the Fitchburg State University area, a road race in Princeton and Westminster MA that finished atop Mt. Wachusett, and the traditional downtown Fitchburg criterium. As a stage race, the event was one of the largest pro-am bicycle stage races in the country, and part of the various national calendar races of the period. In 2011, the race was planned to be changed from a four-day event to one day, due to financial and organizational difficulties, but was cancelled due to a building fire on the downtown racecourse. The fire occurred on June 13 at the Johnsonia Building; the race was not able to occur due to many of the streets that were in the race's pathway being closed.

Voeckler's contract is worth over 400,000 euros a year, second only to Sylvain Chavanel among French riders, although he had been offered nearly twice as much to leave Bernadeau's team and join Cofidis for the 2011 season. Following these sponsorship questions, the team had its best year to date in 2011, winning stages in Paris–Nice and the Criterium du Dauphine (in which they also took the team competition). In July, Thomas Voeckler won and held the overall lead in the Tour of France for 10 days; support rider Pierre Rolland received accolades for his defense of Voeckler, and later took a stage victory on the famous Alpe D'Huez climb, leading to the race's overall white jersey title. The team also fielded Yohann Gène, the first black rider in the Tour.

In the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot Dick Turpin finished runner-up in a Group 1 race for the third time in a row when he was beaten a length by Canford Cliffs with Siyouni, Beethoven and Makfi finishing behind. Richard Hughes resumed the ride when the colt was sent to France again for the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat over 1600 metres at Chantilly Racecourse on 4 July and started at 5/1. Lope de Vega started favourite, while the other six runners included Siyouni, Xtension and Hearts of Fire (Gran Criterium). After racing in third place behind the pacemaker Altair Star and Lope de Vega Dick Turpin took the lead 400 metres from the finish and accelerated away from the field to win "easily" by four lengths.

She did not finish, along with dozens of other riders who fell victim to a series of crashes, including a mass crash. In March 2016 Bloch won the Masada-Arad race in 52:01, came in second in the Dead Sea-Scorpion Pass race, eight seconds behind the 2:30:05 winning time of Antri Christoforou of Cyprus, and came in third in the Arad- Dimona-Arad race, behind Christoforou and Bash. In April 2016 she won the Crit on The Campus criterium around Stirling University in Stirling, Scotland, ahead of Charline Joiner of Scotland. In June 2016 she finished second at the Scottish Road Race Championship (behind British National Circuit Race Champion Eileen Roe of Scotland), second at the Israeli Championships Women's Time Trial, and fourth at the Israeli Championships Women's Road Race.

The Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes over one mile at Ascot Racecourse on 25 September attracted an international field, with Poet's Voice starting the 9/2 third choice in the betting behind Makfi and Rip Van Winkle. The other five runners were Beethoven, Hearts of Fire (Gran Criterium), Red Jazz (European Free Handicap), Bushman (Diomed Stakes) and Air Chief Marshal (Minstrel Stakes). Air Chief Marshal set the pace for his stablemate Rip Van Winkle with Poet's Voice retrained at the rear of the field before making a forward move on the outside two furlongs from the finish. The final furlong saw a three way struggle between Rip Van Winkle on the rail, Poet's Voice on the outside and the 40/1 outsider Red Jazz between horses, resulting in a photo finish.

Bertine is a co- founder of Le Tour Entier, an organisation campaigning for the re- establishment of the Tour de France Féminin and has been credited as "the catalyst for the movement to bring women back to the Tour." She was signed by the Wiggle Honda team in 2014, ahead of the inaugural running of La Course by Le Tour de France, a criterium organised by the Tour de France organisers the Amaury Sport Organisation in response to Le Tour Entier's campaign. Bertine joined BMW p/b Happy Tooth Dental in 2015, making her debut with the team at Grand Prix cycliste de Gatineau in June of that year. In November 2015 she was announced as part of the inaugural squad for the Cylance Pro Cycling team for the 2016 season.

Ridden for the first time by Neil Callan she stayed on strongly in the closing stages and finished second, half a length behind Pollenator and a length in front of the odds-on favourite Seta. Callan was again in the saddle fifteen days later when the filly was moved up in class again for the Group One Fillies' Mile at Ascot Racecourse. The Sweet Solera Stakes winner Long Lashes started favourite ahead of the Aidan O'Brien-trained You'll Be Mine and the Star Stakes winner Mudaaraah with Hibaayeb next in the betting on 8/1 alongside the Prestige Stakes winner Sent From Heaven. The other four runners were Lady Darshaan (third in the Cherry Hinton Stakes), Chantilly Creme, winner of the Listed Criterium du Bequet in France and the maiden winners Blue Angel and Dyna Waltz.

On King of Kings' three-year-old debut he traveled away from the Curragh for the first time as he was sent to England for the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on 2 May. The European Champion Two-Year-Old Xaar was made favourite at 10/11, with King of Kings, ridden by Mick Kinane the second choice in the betting on 7/2 and the Gran Criterium winner Lend a Hand the only other colt to be seriously supported at odds of 8/1. Kinane restrained King of Kings in the early stages as the running was made by Tamarisk before producing his mount with a sustained run down the centre of the course. Lend a Hand went to the front two furlongs from the finish but was immediately challenged by King of Kings who took the lead and ran on strongly to win by one and a quarter lengths.

The criterium replaced the championship and had to lead to play-offs, each team having to play three matches and gain as many victories to reach the elite. Raja successively beats in it's group the Sports Union of Ben Ahmed 4–1, Ennasr of Casablanca on the score of 2–0 (goals of Moussa and Acila) and finally the Olympic of Ouezzane on score of 7–0 including 4 goals scored by Hamid Bahij. Raja was thus the first team to enter the first division because it had played this last match at 8:30 a.m. Kacem Kacemi then retired from his coaching position for personal reasons. The first match disputed by the Greens in the first division championship was loss against Fath Union Sport (2–0), but they managed to beat SC Roches Noires in the second match with the score of 2–0.

The route for the Worlds road races was presented in February 2015, which was made up of a loop of through the desert and a finishing circuit in Doha city centre, including of cobblestones. The finishing circuit of on The Pearl-Qatar was used for a stage of February's Tour of Qatar: riders noted that the course was highly technical, going through 24 roundabouts, with stage winner Alexander Kristoff comparing it to a criterium. However it was also noted that the lack of long straight sections meant that the effect of the crosswinds frequently occurring in Qatar would be significantly lessened, reducing the race's unpredictability. Subsequently, in August 2016 it was reported that the UCI had made changes to the course, increasing the amount of riding through the desert to and reducing the number of laps of the finishing circuit from eleven down to seven.

At the 2003 Island Games in Guernsey, Haveland was due to race in the men's individual triathlon but pulled out. The silver medal was won by fellow Gibraltarian Christopher Walker. Triathlon was dropped from the program at the 2005 Island Games in Shetland, Scotland, so Haveland competed in two cycling events. In the men's individual time trial he finished in 20th in 1:03:04.6 and with Julian Bellido and Christopher Walker finished 6th in men's team time trial. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Haveland finished 39th in men's road time trial with a time of 59:21.76. In June 2007, Haveland raced in the 2007 France Ironman held in Nice. He finished 113th out of 320 in the male 40-44 age division and 554th of out of 1498 overall. The following month at the 2007 Island Games in Rhodes, Greece, Walker competed in the men's individual town centre criterium and in the men's individual time trial where he finished 35th in 58:40.

The Reading 120, Thompson Bucks County Classic and Univest Grand Prix were professional bicycle road races founded in 1998 by former professional cyclist and two time US National Champion John Eustice, and sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) – the world governing body of competitive cycling. The races took place in Southeast Pennsylvania beginning with The Univest Grand Prix in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States from 1999 to 2011, Thompson Bucks County Classic in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States 2012 to 2014 and Reading 120 in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States 2015 and 2016. The races are noteworthy not just for their sanctioning by the UCI (one of only 13 such events held for men in the United States in 2008), but also for their courses. In addition to the 160 km road races the event expanded in 2004 to include a non-competitive 100 km recreational ride and a criterium of Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

It was as a member of the Mercury team where Bouchard-Hall achieved his greatest road successes, winning the United States National Criterium Championships in 2000 and competing in Paris–Roubaix, Gent–Wevelgem, and Critérium International. In 1999, Bouchard-Hall was a member of the gold medal winning team pursuit squad at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada. In 2000, Bouchard-Hall achieved another career highlight when he was selected as a member of the US Olympic team, to compete in the track cycling team pursuit event, after winning the US National Championship in the team pursuit with Erin Hartwell, Mariano Friedick, and Tommy Mulkey. At the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Bouchard-Hall and the US team pursuit team finished in 10th place. Bouchard-Hall continued to cycle for Mercury until the 2002 cycling season, when he announced his retirement at the age of 32 during the US Road Championships in Philadelphia, PA., in June.

Bradley Wiggins on his way to victory on Stage 19 of the Tour de France Bradley Wiggins led Sky at the Tour de France, and was considered the favourite for overall by victory by many, following his victories in Paris-Nice, the Tour de Romandie and the Criterium du Dauphine. He would be supported in the mountains by Chris Froome, Michael Rogers, Richie Porte, Konstantin Sivtsov, Christian Knees and Edvald Boasson Hagen, whilst World Champion Mark Cavendish and Bernhard Eisel were also selected to challenge in the sprints. The race got off to an ideal start for Sky and Wiggins, as he finished second to Fabian Cancellara in the Prologue, meaning he took time out of all his GC rivals, without the team having to defend the Yellow Jersey from the start. Boasson Hagen also placed fifth in the Prologue. On Stage 1, Boasson Hagen finished third after bridging across to a late attack by Cancellara and Peter Sagan, only for Sagan to outsprint the pair.

On 11 May, the day on which French racing restarted after the COVID-19 outbreak Victor Ludorum began his second campaign in the Group 3 Prix de Fontainebleau over 1600 metres on very soft ground at Longchamp. He started the 2/5 favourite but after racing in second place he was unable to make any progress in the straight and came home third behind The Summit (who led from the start) and Ecrivain. Despite his defeat, the colt went off the 7/5 favourite for the Poule d'Essai des Poulains, run that year over 1600 metres at Deauville Racecourse on 1 June with his eight opponents including his old rivals Alson, Ecrivain, The Summit and Kenway as well as Arapaho (Prix du Pont Neuf) and Celestin (Criterium du Languedoc). After being restrained towards the rear of the field by Barzalona he made a forward move 500 metres from the finish, gained the advantage 200 metres out and kept on well to win by one and a half lengths from The Summit.

In between 2017 and 2018 seasons, former directeur sportif Martin Barras was removed as the Cycling Australia's national women's road coach after the September's Bergen 2017 road world championships as a part of restructuring by Cycling Australia's new high performance director Simon Jones, his last race directing Orica-Scott was the women's Tour of Guangxi in October. Barras later taking up the role as Cycling New Zealand's high performance director. Taking the place of Barras' DS role was former DS Martin Vestby. Mitchelton-Scott started the year in its national championship campaigns in Australia and New Zealand, with Sarah Roy achieving her best Australian criterium championships finish with GreenEDGE with a second place since previously winning the title in 2014 when signed with . Georgia Williams won the New Zealand time trial championships after multiple podiums in previous years' time trial and road race, Alexandra Manly followed up last year's U23 time trial win with another, while new signing Lucy Kennedy achieved a silver medal in the elite time trial classification.

Northern Treasure began his second campaign by finishing third over five furlongs and then ran third behind the top weight Northern View in the Madrid Free Handicap at the Curragh in April, beaten more than five lengths by the winner. Later that month he was moved up to Group Three class for the Vauxhall Trial Stakes at Phoenix Park and finished fourth behind Lucky Wednesday, Sovereign Dice and Wolverlife. Despite a defeat over six furlongs on his net appearance, Northern Treasure was then moved up to the highest class for the Group One Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh on 15 May, in which he was ridden by Gabriel Curran and started a 33/1 outsider in a seventeen-runner field. The French colt Comeram (second in the Grand Critérium and third in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains) started favourite ahead of the Italian challenger Northern Spring (Gran Criterium) and the main English hope Patris (fourth in the 2000 Guineas) while the other runners included Northern View, Lucky Wednesday, Wolverlife and Poacher's Moon.

The racing debut of the Monza GT model in the hands of Ada Chiribiri, Amadeo Chiribiri, Tazio Nuvolari, Gigi Platé and I'inglese Scalese 'the Englishman' Jack Scales (Jan 29 1886-Oct 23 1962)The Nostalgia Forum at Atlas F1 brought three victories in the Susa-Moncenisio race, the Aosta-Gran San Bernardo race and the Voiturette GP at the Monza autodrome. In 1921 Amadeo Chiribiri, racing under the pseudonym of Deo, won the 'Coppa della Cascine' in Florence and Mauro Ramassotto came second in the 2,000 cc class of the Rome Criterium. Mario Tuccimei with Chiribiri "Roma 5000" at Targa Florio 1922 In the 1922 2nd Grand Prix of Penya Rhin (Barcelona) at the Circuit de Vilafranca, a road circuit in the hills behind Sitges, Mauro Ramassotto finished 3rd and Amadeo Chiribiri set the fastest lap (112 km/h) for 'Voiturettes' up to 2000 cc. In the 1923 3rd Grand Prix of Penya Rhin (Barcelona) at the Circuit de Vilafranca Tazio Nuvolari was 5th in the 1500 cc Chiribiri, and in the II Spanish Grand Prix at the banked Autodrom Sitges- Terramar, he finished 4th.
